Check your healthy checks. You may be eating too much fruit. Are you exercising? Hang in there and try to find some non-scale victories.

My first week weigh-in revealed no weight loss. In fact, the scale flickered btwn no weight loss and a half-lb gain.

Could 29 points be too much food for some of us? I tracked my food, and was much higher on calories than I normally eat, even though I was within my point range I only consumed 15 of my bonus points.

Please don't tell me I'm "starving myself" (the greatest dieting myth of our time).

I am only 5 feet tall, am nearing 50, menopausal, and have thyroid disease. I am considering dropping my points down to 25. Anyone else here have success breaking a plateau by going under 29 points?

I had a good weigh-in today. I had thought about giving up. I lost 3 lbs this week. I am inspired to continue on my journey.

Glad I came by here again today. This has inspired me to get back up and get back going. I was losing weight following this plan and I didn't feel miserable. Getting back today! wahoo!

emoticon I want to quit but I will keep going. I am trying to recover from a round of prednisone for my asthma. It has a terrible effect on weight loss. When I joined WW again for my 40th birthday, I promised myself I would stick with it for at least 1 year so I am keeping my word. I despise the weigh-ins that are not private anymore but I really like the WW meetings. Thank you for the poems! Bee emoticonemoticon

Wow. Can I just say that I woke up this morning and said...I can't do this, I'm going to quit WW today. I tracked everything for the past 1 1/2 weeks, exercised and gained 3, yes 3 pounds. I felt so defeated. I sent a text to my friend who attends the meetings with me and she convinced me to go this morning. The meeting was good and I felt a little better after I left, ready to keep plugging along. I'm glad I went to the meeting.
This afternoon I sat down and watched OPRAH! Did you see it? Jennifer Hudson for the whole hour looking so confident and AMAZING and taking about WW! It's one thing to see her on all the WW commercials, but today she REALLY inspired me.
Now I sit down at the computer and found this WW support team and read your poem! I'm going to take this day as a sign.... someone is speaking to me.....I'm not going to quit! Thank you!

I am right there with you. I was within 5 pounds of my goal and was feeling good. Now I can't seem to stick with it. I have actually gained 5 pounds back and while I would think that would be motivation enough to get back on track, so far it hasn't worked. I know I can do this because I have done it but I can't get in the right mind set for some reason.

I always start out right with my tracking and portions and then I give up. I feel pretty much like a failure. I did so well for a long time and lost weight and now I just am gaining it back.

@MISSCHOCOHOLIC...good luck!!!!

@Kodiakbaby..the only way I know how to get back on track is to "just do it"...if I think too long/hard about it, I'll procrastinate and find reasons NOT to get on track...I have to just go to the gym or pick up the right food and let the motivation find me!!!!

I'm sure others have better advice...lol!!

Good luck...

What is the best way to get back on track after a week long screw up??? I was so good for 17 weeks (37 pounds) and hit a plateau. I got a little discouraged but now I feel bloated and lousy. I am so afraid to get on the scale. I need a pep talk bad. I don't want to go backwards but I can't seem to find discipline.

Thank you so much for posting these poems! I've been discouraged lately since I'm feeling as if I've been going through this weight loss journey for what it seems like forever. Plus, the weekends and birthday dinners have been getting the best of me. And on top of that, I'm about to go on vacation where I'm not going to be able to track everything since they don't have elaborate nutrition facts as we do here. LOL So, wish me luck!!

Thank you so much for this........... I have been discouraged lately.... I am NOT quitting but my body has been in a tail spin since I started my journey.. My colitis has flared up in the last couple of weeks and that makes it so I don't want to eat fiber but I know I need to get the nutrition in. I know I have been absent on posting on any of my teams.... I am going to do better because I need all the help I can get.

LOVE the Don't Quit poem. I'm on the "Commit Don't Quit" message board on Tales from the scale on the WW message boards. We start our thread every single day with that poem. This is the first time I've seen it anywhere else! Both are great :-)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest! If you must-but never quit.
Life is queer, with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might of won if he'd stuck it out;
Stick to your task, though the pace seems slows-
You may succeed with one more blow.

Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt-
And you may never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worse that YOU MUSN'T QUIT.

Don't Quit

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your points a bit,
It's your next move that counts . . . So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
if you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the strugglers, when losing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over . . . they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you to grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushed to the brink, just refuse to submit.
If you bite it, you write it . . . But don't you quit!
