Be prepared for a long day.
We got to the auditorium about 9:30. The competitor's meeting was at 10:30 and the pre judging began at 11. All the girls were in a small room getting dressed, doing the bikini bite, oiling up, putting on make up and pumping up. All the competitors are milling around back waiting for their turn on stage.
The prejudging went pretty quickly - we were called out by class and stood together and turned when they told us to and posed and waited to turn again. They asked me to move positions 3 or 4 times - so I moved to that position and posed again. Then we were thanked and left the stage to wait to be called out for the next class (I was only in 2).
Pre judging took about 2 to 2-1/2 hours then we waited. I had my tan touched up by the spray vendor who was there. A lot of girls left to get something to eat or do whatever. When my final coat of tan dried my husband and I just went out and vegged in the car for about an hour.
Then we came back in - another competitor meeting at 3:45 and the show started at 4. After the pro men bb did their thing - they called all the competitors out - in numerical order - one by one. The bodybuilders went out and did their posing routines and the figure competitors did their stage walk. I had forgotten to bring music but the DJ just picked something for me (which turned out to be a PERFECT choice - as it turned out :-) ). Anyway, they read my brief bio, started the music and I walked out. Struck my poses, strutted my stuff and waved as I walked out. (some of the girls were REALLY good at working the crowd). [What most people don't realize is by the time you get to this point the decisions have been made - we didn't know the outcomes but the judging was over. This was the time to shine and have fun - the hard part was "over".]
Then there was a brief (15 min) intermission and the awards began. Our awards were about an hour later which I wish we had been told because we were all standing around in our shoes waiting. I wear heels all the time but my feet were starting to hurt by the end of the night.
When they got the figure awards they called the top 5 out from each division and announced the winners from 5th to 1st and moved you into proper position with your trophy.
We left when all of the figure awards were over - although there were awards left to give out for more of the mens' bb classes - we left about 7:45pm.
I met some really nice people, some who weren't and some who were almost too nice - the ones you knew you had to watch out for (LOL). I exchanged emails with one girl who turned out to be extremely helpful throughout the day and was very encouraging (she kept telling me that I should have won the first class :-) ).

All-in-all it was a positive experience. I was nervous to the point tearing up before my first walk onto the stage but I got it together and brought home 2 trophies. The big thing is WE'RE HOOKED (both my DH and I). I'm looking at a show in June and one in September.
