I am planning a tea party the week after Christmas. I am inviting 6 of my special friends from our church. however I am pretty stressed out right now with christmas decorating/baking. I had that project for the ladies guild and I put that first so now it's catch up time. I have to watch myself because of my bi Polar disorder. Can't get too overwhelmed. But I am going to do something unlike me for myself. I am just going to serve egg salad sandwiches , my Christmas cookies and a fancy cake from the bakery.
No scones or fancy pastries, or lemon curd or clotted cream. Just my cookies and a store bought cake. I just want to welcome them to my home and enjoy the visit.

One thing I have thought about. I was thinking if you were to freeze the cake first it might be easier to work with. Also if you make it in a jelly roll pan, that might help. But then my frosting just ran off. So I don't know what the answer is...Maybe some day I'll try again. But as for the tea parties I have found cookies are just as good and MUCH easier.
If not cookies, miniature muffin cups make a lot of nice little goodies. But the thought of Bourbon and chocolate sounds yummy!

The muffin recipe looks good. I printed out the recipe. Yesterday I made a dessert for company. It was from the joy of cooking cook book. The recipe was called apple scone cake. It was the scone dough in a pie pan with apples between each top and bottom crust. I was so disappointed in it. I would describe it as not so good scones with apple filling. But the recipe didn't call for any seasonings except sugar in the apples..It did have some vanilla in the dough part. But it sounded so good, but turned out to be a dud......But you have to try new recipes..some are winners, others not.
