1 lb off. I think. Still haven't bought new scales, and in spite of the floor now being nice and hard and level, they still say different weights every time.

Don't know if anyone wants to get back to doing this but my weight last Monday was 15.9 (stones/pounds)

This is good for me, a 2lb loss on January - in between I've been doing a lot of stuff and had lots on my mind, so am glad I can return and not feel too bad about being away

Lost 6 lb compared to the last reading, so 3 lb net loss. Better recap - starting weight 252 lb (18 stone) current weight 115 lb (15 stone 5 lb) weight lost 37 lb

Richard says can we have 2 cheers for him as well, starting weight 18 stone, current weight 15 stone 7 lb. But he is 6' tall.

Weighed myself 4 times this morning and got 4 different results, between 2lb off and 2lb on. I've put down no loss for this week, hope by next week it will be more obvious what's going on. Can't wait to get a decent level floor and a better set of scales!

Lost 2lb this week. Also as it's the first weigh-in of the month I got Richard to measure me. I've lost from my neck but put on round the waist and hips. All I can think is that with the flab it's easier to pull tighter without realising, because I know I have definitely got smaller from my clothes. Ah well.

Wednesday is my weigh-in, purely because that's the day I started the diet. Lost 1 lb this week. Don't laugh, I've just worked out the red line and the blue blobs on the chart. My blue blobs have been following the red line pretty well, I just thought the line was connecting them up!

No weight loss this week. Maybe I'm just having a bit of a rest after a couple of weeks of good loss, or maybe I'm not eating enough - read a Spark article about it. I'll have to look at those calorie in v calorie out reports they've just introduced..

Another 3lb loss this week, perhaps I should eat a bit more. Truly, the big difference between now and other attempts to lose weight is that I am taking a lot more exercise.

3lbs off this week, and I measured myself and I've lost some inches as well. This is the first time I've really tried diet and fitness at the same time, and I think the results speak for themselves.

Oh my god i've put 7lb on, i've been ill for a month and not able to leave the house, friends kept bringing me goodies to eat, and as i was feeling so down, well, i ate them, so its my own fault. So i have started again,i'm starting to take Alli pills on monday, i did start last thursday but went down with a bout of flue again, so i stopped taking them and will restart on monday. I'm starting to get mentally focused on my fitness and diet but will be taking it easy with my excercising until i get my health back 100%...

Er, not quite, it's something I have been avoiding doing. But I did measure myself after a few weeks, shock horror.
Fee doesn't believe in weighing herself, goes by her clothes, but had to do so for research she has volunteered for and got a bit of a shock too. Her clothes are falling down, probably because she has been doing the swim and gym with me, but she can't afford to get more because her car has had to have things done to it. But she weighs about the same as I do. Not so bad as she is 7" taller than me, but not too good.

Think not. Do.

Congratulations Doreen, a pound lost, a pound a week adds up to 52 in a year. Did you measure when you started? I actually lost more inchs than pounds, if you are exercising then muscle weighs more than fat sooo you are thinner but weigh the same emoticon emoticon

Weigh-in this morning, just a scant pound, but in the right direction. I've decided to do measurements once a month, don't think there's much point doing it every week.

Think not. Do.

Hi Folks,

Weighed on Monday and can say I have not put on that pound that took so long to shift. So I'm pleased.

Have been out shopping this am and in the garden this pm and can feel I've done some work in the leg muscles so that should help for next week, mind you Mother's Day won't help! I'm having folks over here this year so am choosing as wisely as I can.

No weight loss this week, but I'm chanting my mantra - "Muscle weighs more than fat, muscle weighs more than fat". I've done a lot of exercise this week, gym and swimming, I've upped the weights on some of the strength machines, added in some crunches, and cut down on the intervals between lengths in the pool (I usually do them in fours, Fee can do 6 while I do 4, and it helps keep track of how far we've gone).
So, are we downhearted? I think I can say no.

Think not. Do.

One lb lost this week, and I see my BMI has gone down since I started! Went back to the gym today as well, and plan to swim tomorrow seeing as I've bought the season ticket and Fee is up for it.

Every lb lost is a lb less to go. Those last ones as you get closer to your goal are always the hardest, so losing 1 a week is a great achievement.

Well done on that pound, & I have another pound to add to it in the pound dustbin.

A pound a week is a good, healthy rate of loss. People who lose weight more slowly are much more likely to keep it off long term, apparently.

I'm sorry folks, I know I'm really late getting in touch this week. I did weigh myself on Monday, thinking all could be well as I've been fastening my belt one hole shorter, but ... you know

Anyway I've lost a pound in the last week so I'm chuffed. As you know my goal is to lose a stone this year and this is the first pound. I only got myself in hand after joining this group so thanks! emoticon

Can' believe it, I lost 5lb this week, in spite of eating with daughter and averaging out close to the 1200 calorie per day mark. That means I've lost exactly a stone since Jan 29th. This was the stone I put back on with the medication after I lost it before my diabetes was diagnosed. if you follow me. Can't wait to see the needle dip below the 17 st mark, which I trust will happen this coming week.

Think not. Do.

1 lb lost this week, though the bathroom floor is so uneven I could instantly lose half a stone just by moving the scales! Not too bad, as I had a friend to stay - bless her, she brought exotic fruit instead of chocs - but we ate at daughter's, though I resisted roast potatoes and dessert - but then had a meal out. I saved calories from the rest of the week to use then, though, and it seems to have paid off

Hi All,

Not weighed this week, forgot it was Monday yesterday! Can't be trusted! I had a firend over for the weekend, we went for a walk in Beddgelert which was lovely, had sea bass (first time for me) for tea which is pretty healthy and was oven baked so not too many cals either. Then Linda went home yesterday and I was straight off to tutor and then it was late so I went to bed just after tea - oops, life should quiet down a bit now, going to book in half hour rests this week and see if that helps generally. Been having a bit of trouble getting off to sleep, and then waking up every time I turn over.

Will weigh in next Monday

I don't usually have too much of a problem with eating in the evening. I say usually but the times I do eat in the evening, I could eat for Britain!

Having kept track of when it happens, I've come to the conclusion that it's TOM related. For some reason, the week before & the first 2 or 3 days, I can't seem to eat enough. I try to make sure I have plenty of rice cakes & crackerbreads in then.

OK! Confession time! I haven't weighed myself since the beginning of January. I'm supposed to weigh on the first of each month but I was too scared to in February. I'll build myself up to stepping on the scales on 1st March - & I WON'T not do it (if that makes sense).

Congrats to those who have lost or maintained.

I used to have the bad habit of eating Dorito chips in the evenings. What helped me stop the chips was changing over to frozen fruit (mixed berries) and eating each berry slowly (because it was still partially frozen).

Hi Wazz, do you have dessert after dinner, if you do why not keep it for your evening snack. Also increase your veg at dinner to fill you up with few calories. If you don,t eat dessert try and keep your snacks low calorie, Crackerbread is only 19 cals slice, have 3 with some pate or cream cheese, spread thinly, for about 100 cals. Yoghurt, raw carrot, celery, piece of fruit (even a banana is ok at 70 cals) Hope this is useful, come on girls any more suggestions emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi

Weigh in shows still 16.1
I'm only glad it didn't go up! However if I'm going to lose any weight I need to get on with it. So I've started tracking my food again.

I'm usually fine on breakfast - only have 2 or 3 different choices so once I'd sorted out portion size it's now easy to do well there. Lunch is probably OK, dinner it's definitely portion size difficulty, and then there's snacking in the evening.

Any assistance welcome! emoticon

Well, the batteries were bought yesterday so this morning I had my weigh in and came in at 16st 1lb. I don't feel too bad about this as from 2002 - 2007 I had put on about a stone a year (that's when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, gave up work, became much less mobile) and used that as an excuse. I've now admitted even if that's why the weight went on it's there now and it needs to go so last year I tried not to put on any more - which worked well, and this year I've not really made an effort and still the weight is pretty stable.

So now it's to lose a stone in a year - watch this space!

Hiya All

Just thought I'd let you know that I don't EVER weigh myself as it can affect my mood considerably! Plus I'm off the scales so I couldn't even if I wanted to! If my clothes are feeling baggy then my eating habits are ok. I do measure myself and that is the best indication of all. I am fortunate that when I gave up smoking, I also gave up drinking tea and coffee due to the association with it. Since then I have been a waterbutt! Everyday I make up two big 2 ltr jugs of water and put a couple of slices of lemon in one and lime in the other. That is my daily liquid intake and has been for the last 8 years. If I go to friends or family then I make an exception but I don't miss it. Sue

Hi
What a good idea LLC, asking yourself if your slimmer youwould like that right now or as a treat. I do something a bit similar, say I want a bit of chocolate I get it out of the fridge and put it on the side, make a drink (tea is my usual tipple) and if I still want it in half an hour I have it, at least then I know it's not a hideen need for liquids. I also make sure I have things like 2 finger kitkat (109 cals) so I can have a treat and not lose faith forever!

Why is it water that we should all be drinking - I drink lots of tea, very weak and milky (I allow 1pt a day of semi skimmed to cover it) but why is water better?

I went to the scales today (I weigh first thing every week so I should be accurately recording a loss or gain!) and found the battery has run out! Not an excuse honest. I know it's going to be bad, but was ready to face it with you guys as you seem a great bunch. Anyway off out this pm - I'll have a walk along the beach for my cardio and buy a battery!

Thanks LadyLifeCoach for your words of wisdom! I especially like how you ask yourself that particular question before you eat something. Really makes you accountable for the consequences/rewards either way.

Geemtee, don't fret. That one pound could be temporary water weight; it could be due to hormonal fluctuations; you mentioned not eating enough... Just hang in there, my friend! I'll be rooting for you!

Pat, hi there! Here it is Sunday evening and I'm trying to catch up with some of the week's posts. I can get so behind during the work week.

Hope all are doing well. Stay persistent and don't let the scale determine how you look at things. (Although I'm just as guilty for jumping up on mine to see what it currently says! LOL)

Hi Susy - its a combination of both really.

I'm currently doing 30 minutes of cardio at least 5 times a week. This can be anything from the exercise bike, step aerobics (I just put my ipod on and make my own moves), or an aerobics video.

I go running once a week, but hopefully when the snow has gone I am looking to increase the amount of sessions I do, as I love being outdoors!!

Food wise, I always aks myself before anything goes in my mouth "Would slimmer me eat this to maintain her weight or as an occasional treat?"

Those few seconds make me think and start changing my patterns of eating behaviour. It's amazing how that one line can change your whole perspective!! It really got me through my plateau recently.

Just remember to keep changing your exercise routine to keep it fresh and challenging. If you start to get bored, them you run the risk of leaving it all together.

Hope this helps!! emoticon
