Hello Everyone!
I'm pretty sure I signed up for SparkPeople, and this high blood pressure forum well over a year ago, but today I'm making a new committment. I had the scare of my life while vacationing in Puerto Rico over the weekend. While lying on the beach, I had a horrible reaction to my newly doubled ACE inhibitor prescription, and had to be rushed to the hospital. All is well now, and when visiting my primary doctor, she says she really wants me to take ownership of my HBP and work to bring it down with diet and exercise (needless to say, I'm no longer taking lisinopril which nearly killed me, just two water pills). I'm 32, and really want to take charge of my health and well being, and this health scare was a serious kick in the tail! So I was very excited to start up with SparkPeople and I'm pretty disappointed that when I search recipes, under the "dietary" option, there's Vegan, Vegetarian, Low Carb, etc., but not Low Sodium. Am I missing it? What do you all do? Scour every single recipe and flag those that aren't too high in sodium? Or is everyone just make their own low sodium modifications? THANKS!!
