It is good to see your doctor. Walking and stopping the salt are excellent for lowering the blood pressure but you need some medicine now for the blood pressure while you are losing weight and bringing it down naturally.
Trust in God he will take care of everything!!! Life can be wonderful… if you will just get the stillness of God into your body, mind, and soul. Do the best you can; do good, be good. Then put it all into His hands and trust Him. Don't be excited; don't be nervous; don't be tense. Just be still. Remember that He is God, and He will give the peace and power of God to you
Try and hang in. I know it is hard but stress is going to make this worse. I've been there, you need to do things to not think about this and you will get there. No salt, exercise and think happy thoughts. You are getting married - that is wonderful. Be healthy for that.
I know my Vit D levels are VERY low because my doctor had already sent me for the blood test!!
So i had my appointment today with my family doctor, and I brought my mom, she's a cardiology tech and knows her stuff, so.... He put me on Adalat... I am supposed to take it for 2-3 weeks and keep testing my BP a number of times a day and then if it isn't going down then I am to double my dose. i hope this helps.
I would like to get pregnant in the fall after my wedding this summer but i know that this drug is not safe for pregnant ladies so when I see my OB/GYN in late Aug I guess i have to talk to her about that.
I really hope that this helps me feel better, is anyone out there on the same meds? I'm only taking 30mg right now.
Thanks for all the advice and support. I am going to start cracking down on the eating and activity levels... I want to lose a bit of weight before I try for kids. I wanted to start already but my mom said it wasn't a good idea till we get this under control!
I have to agree to some point I think it depends on why the BP is up You need to throw the salt away and you need to start walking increases the length of the walk daily eat the right portion and right kinds of food . I think want your doctor wants you to do is lose weight first and then see where your BP is before he start you on any meds. The only reason I say this I was on BP for many years in my 30 up my 40's But once I decided to lose the weight and and exercise daily and eat the right foods I no longer am on BP meds. My BP is a little high but not enough to warrant BP meds you can get your BP back to normal but you have to work at it and that is by doing healthy stuff. BP runs in my family my father died at 59 of heart attack my mother 78 and I am 60 and had one heart attack but since then I lost the weight and threw away the salt!!. Good luck with everything and congrats on your upcoming wedding.
A year from now you will wish you started TODAY !!!
why would your doctor make you wait so long before your next appointment? when i went for a physical and my BP was very high, my doctor wouldn't let me even leave her office till she seen that med's would start reducing my BP. then she wanted me in 4 days after for a recheck then 2 weeks later for medication adjustment. then every 3 to for weeks for a few visits to see that the numbers are staying at a reasonable level. if your numbers are very high, med's are the only thing that will work right now. reducing you weight and watching you diet is what you do for the long term fix

Try to relax as best you can..easier said than done, I know! Its good you're wanting it addressed before anything happens. DEFINITELY watch the sodium! Read every label. Cut out caffeine. Walk. And tell your doctor how you feel, and that you want help for it now. Good luck!

You are smart to see your doctor. You definitely don't want to wait that long to see your other doctor. Plus the fact that waiting will add to your stress. Watch your salt intake especially. Good luck to you and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!
I'm really scared right now, I weigh almost 270 and I am starting to notice HBP symptoms like headaches when i move around then when i rest the seem to go away, super tired after moving around lots, pounding behind my eyes etc...
I was in to see my doctor on May 25 and he said that I needed to lose 10lbs by the next time I seen him (July 23)... and I had to watch my BP through out the day. So I have been and some times it's scary high....
today was a really bad day, i made an appointment for Monday to go see my family doctor early because I don't think I want to leave my BP so high for 2 months... I am getting married in a month and so the stress isn't going to be going down till after the wedding if you know what I mean?
I don't know what to do or how to lower my BP. I need to do this fast. i'm only 26
