Wow, sorry your Dr. was not willing to do a blood level for Vitamin D. Obviously she is from the "old school" belief in medicines. Toss a drug at you for what ailes you, rather than try alternative ideas.
You may have to PAY for the test, but INSIST she do it!
The problem with drugs to lower our pressure, is that they don't always work, and you end up on more and more. That is crazy. Those drugs don't always make you feel so great either!
Good luck on your quest! Kathy

I just went to my doc & they were going to run some blood tests, I will call and ask for that one. Is there a certain level that would indicate you are not getting enough Vit D? Will it let you know how much Vit D you need to take? I take a multi-vitamin every day but am not sure what amount of Vit D is included -- will check that.
In response to a couple of the other posts - a couple of years ago I quit eating red meat for awhile and lost about 30 pounds & am thinking of do that again to help with the pounds & blood pressure. I was following the guidelines in the book "What Would Jesus Eat" and used several recipies from the cookbook with the same name. I agree with the balanced eating, which is my hardest thing to do. t I'm working in more fruits & vegies now so it's getting better.
i don't think nutrition is what you call a fad diet. i'm not a vegetarian but humans were not meant to eat meat. if we were we would have teeth made for eating meat. our teeth are made for vegetation. the eating of more fruits and veggies and less meat has always been how people should eat. i don't think you would be able to find a nutritionist or a dentist that would disagree

This is a fad diet, no one should not do any diet that forbids or limits to much of any food group. You need to eat a balanced diet with grains, whole if you can eat them; fruits and vegetables; and meat, eggs, protien rich beans. Candy
I am not alone God is with me in this and all endeavors I take.
