Kimberly : I actually noticed that when I'm stressed, I eat less: my mind is too busy to think about eating, but when I'm anxious, I eat more: it keeps my mind away from worrying...

Anyways...

I wanted to share something: I've been back to Switzerland this weekend, had crepes and wine. I'm now at home for two hours and I got on the scale.

*drum roll"

69.8.

I AM OFFICIALLY UNDER 70 KG FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS.

This is a quickie - sorry! I am still on a vacation in which I was supposed to have internet access...but that hasn't really worked out as anticipated. If I can, I'll post the summary before I lose connection, but if I can't, I'll write and post it when I get home on Monday.

Either way, I'm starting a NEW thread for the next ten week challenge! It will be titled "10lbs/10weeks - Feb to April 2013". The dates will be:

Week 0 (starting weight): 2/1
Week 1: 2/8
Week 2: 2/15
Week 3: 2/22
Week 4: 3/1
Week 5: 3/8
Week 6: 3/15
Week 7: 3/22
Week 8: 3/29
Week 9: 4/5
Week 10: 4/12

Check it out when you get a chance!

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

Wow, the past 10 weeks have just flown by! I think everyone has come a long way, even if the scales didn't move as much as planned...(I blame the holiday sweets & stress)

Scapp3ll3 - I think that eventually you get to a point where you make better choices more easily, or are at least more concoius of the choices you are making. I won't say that you'll reach for celery instead, but maybe a small slice or two and a salad instead of half the pie... ...I feel the same way about exercise - will I ever Not have to drag myself begrudgingly to do it?

The positive spirit in this group has really helped me get thru the holidays with little back-slide, and now I'm moving forward again! Like Kimberly, I had been stalled at a plateau for way too long, and this challenge's accountability along with the January Jumpstart plan has helped me break through - almost a full pound in one week is big for me!

Wk 0 - Nov 23 - 150
Wk 1 - Nov 30 - 149.5
Wk 2 Dec 7 - 148.9
Wk 3 - Dec 14 - 149

Wk 8 - Jan 18 - 148.5

Let's keep this motivation going!! Have a great week & see y'all on the next one!

Welcome to Alexis and congratulations to Kimberly on your 2 pound loss, Sounds great! Spark Jo, I'm with you, my week was not great. I've been focusing on other things besides my diet and I really need to get back to it.

I'd really like to get to the point where I don't have to think about my diet all the time. Where eating healthy, low-carb foods comes naturally and so in times of stress I reach for celery instead of pizza. Does this state-of-mind actually exist? For anyone?

I've lost 5 pounds in this challenge, which was half the goal, but then again, better than gaining 5 pounds. I'll take it. On with the next challenge.

Blue skies everyone!

Sorry about your week, SparkJo. It really is a reality check about what is important in our lives when we experience a close call like that. I am glad that he is alright.

I am the opposite of you. When I stress about something, I do not eat. I had to force myself to eat the last two days because of work stresses. I do have some part-time work that I do occasionally. This week I worked out more according to my Spark Coach plan and reduced calories. I am down a whole 2 pounds!! I have never lost 2 pounds in one week, but I can say that I have finally busted my plateau.

137.6 . . . Woohoo!!! I finally feel like my hardwork is paying off and the Fitbit One has been helping me. I started to run on the treadmill last week and I think that adding this exercise to my workout routine changed it up enough to drop more calories and work my body in a different way. I have been planning my meals the day ahead and I need to stick to do this because it takes the work out of my decisions during the day. I stick to the plan, so that has been good.

Thanks to all of you for your support. I lost 5.7 pounds on this challenge and I am ready to continue on our journey together. How was everyone else this week?

Not such a great week.

I'm up 500g (70.6kg). I don't think I actually put back anything, but I didn't lose, for sure.

Last weekend, we were in Venice. Honestly, I didn't overdo it. We had fish for all meals, no pasta, reasonable breakfast. The wine too much maybe ;-)- Also it was quite cold and we walked hours and hours. Not fat made there.

My bf left Italy very early Monday to go back to work and called me at 5.30 am cause he had an accident. HE IS FINE. But the early call that woke me up in a panic and set the mood for the day. I was so shocked and I couldn't help thinking what could have been (him and the driver that hit him are VERY lucky to be alive and walk and have no actual injuries). I was a mess. Just after such a great weekend, it was powerful reality check that things can stop at any moment, no matter how happy you are.

Well, I've been feeling restless (not in a good way) the entire week. I'm a pessimist who tend to forget it when she's happy, but my old demons came back all at once.

At work, I had phone conferences, meetings until late, when not very late, until Wednesday and I couldn't recenter myself. Plus winter is so foggy here, it's hard to motivate yourself to go for a run at sunset. It's not really cold, barely freezing, but the humidity... I can't take it. Give me a dry cold swiss winter :)

Today, I'm driving back to Switzerland, as he's still not well enough to drive down here. I'll drive back Sunday and I'm leaving Sunday for a business trip. I feel stressed and restless.

Needless to say, I didn't work out (I did bike to work four days and took a walk after lunch with a colleague one day).

Foodwise, it could have been worse. I went a bit over my range, but barely (like 100 Cal a day) but my mood reflected on HOW I ate. I overate, just very low calories food, but I felt the "need" of eating compulsively (huge plates of steamed vegetables and low fat yogurts, but still, the feeling is the same).

And, cherry on top, arriving at the middle of the month, with it's traditional bloating.

Back up to the weight I was when I joined Sparkpeople a few weeks ago (159). It's so depressing to see 0 lbs lost after being on this site for several weeks now. I started off the New Year strong and have recently found myself going back to the way things were before the New Year, so really not surprised I'm back to the weight I plateaued at. I need to step back and refocus. I'm all for sticking with the challenge. Slow and steady works for me. Hoping to wrap my head around whats not working and find my stride again. It's so frustrating that January started off so positive and is ending with me being right back where I started. I wasn't even going to post this week because I feel so discouraged. Maybe new thread next week will equal fresh start for me - LOL

Well, I'm in too for starting a new thread and continuing the challange! You guys have been such a positive force & inspiration to me! I like the idea of adding an additonal component to the weekly goals too...

This was such a great week for me! Started with being off on monday and I was just in such a great mood, it carried throughout the whole week! (I think the beautiful weather helped)

I re-started the January Jumpstart plan, and have actually stuck with it the whole week - YAY! - I haven't exercised every day of the week in way too long... (confession - i skipped friday, but doubled up today)
I am so glad that the scale finally budged today! I had been steady at 149 all week (and Not happy about it being up from last weigh-in), so it was satisfying to see that the efforts paid off...

Now, off to enjoy this beautiful weekend! emoticon

The good news is . . . .(drum roll) that the scale did not go up, so I guess there is no bad news!!! Woohoo! 139.6. Down .2 this week.

It is a good result since I was expecting an increase, especially since I celebrated my birthday last Saturday and on Tuesday. I did not deprive myself though. Had the shortribs, as Coxbeth explained in her recap last Sunday, had dessert, a crackerjack sundae (OMG! I think I was in heaven!!!), and my mom baked me a cake that I just HAD to eat! But I worked out Monday through Thursday and started a new treadmill interval workout to mix things up a bit. Stayed within my calorie range all week, although I would say that it was on the higher side of the range and I am shooting for the lower end. I will work on that more this week.

I am so proud of everyone this week. I have truly enjoyed reading everyone's blogs and supporting all of you as we take this journey together. I will participate in a new thread to continue the challenge. I really look forward to reading all of your updates. Let's keep up the good work and reach our goals together!!!

Thank you Coxbeth for all your recaps and efforts with this challenge. It is time-consuming to keep up with everyone's blogs and you do a great job. I appreciate it!!! I am game for a new component to the challenge. One thing that I have been working on through Spark Coach is celebrating a non-scale victory everyday and posting it on the SparkCoach messageboard. Just a suggestion, but I think that we should each post a non-scale victory each week on a day other than weigh-in day. For example, fittig into a pair of jeans that were too small or somene commented on my weightloss at the gym, etc. As we all know, it is not about the scale, but a mental mind-set.

Looking forward to continuing the challenge!! emoticon

Blarg.

I had to be at work earlier than usual today and woke up late...so I forgot to weigh myself. Which is crazy, since I do it everyday. That should tell you how flustered I was.

Anyway, I'll post my weigh-in tomorrow instead. I am expecting it to be exactly the same or maybe a 0.5 higher than last week...I haven't been very "on plan" this week. I think my cycle increases my cravings and some work/school stress has been eating away at my willpower. At least I have the prospect of weighing in tomorrow to keep me faithful to the plan today!

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

My scale isn't moving this week, but I'm ok with it. Two pounds last week was a huge deal for me and my body probably needs some time to adjust. At least it didn't go up! emoticon

Congratulations Spark Jo, good job!

*drum roll*

70.1 kg!!

Which means that I have lost 1.1 kg this week and that I am ahead of my goal (which was 70.5) emoticon

So I had a good week, I danced with the wii, I went for a run, I could bike to work every day. But I also think that it's also that my weight loss was slowed down these last two weeks by water weight and that I have to accept that I'm a bit heavier in the second part of my cycle (and wait two weeks to see the results).

I'm going to Venice for the weekend, our 5th anniversary with the bf, I'll try to enjoy the food, but with moderation. Let's see how that goes :)

If you open a new thread at the end of this challenge, I'll follow :) I will keep my initial weight being what is was though and if I managed to reach my goal weight in ten weeks I may try to stick around to lose another 4lbs and reach the weight I really wish I had :)

Hi Ladies! I'm just getting caught up on my SP for the last week and wanted to say hi!

For Celia: We will miss you girl! If you want to stay with us and post about some goal OTHER than weight (fitness minutes, no sugar, whatevs), PLEASE DO! We're here to support each other and to try to keep each other positive as best we can. That said, binge eating and other problems like that don't necessarily have simple solutions like "be more positive"... I'm glad you are going to OA and if there's any way our group can support you, let us know!

For SPARK_JO: whoops!! It's hard to keep up with the weekly posts when some of us post "I gained X" or "I lost X" and I made an addition mistake when going through all the old posts. My bad! Thanks for clearing up the signature line - it's awesome! :) AND SO IS YOUR SUCCESS!

For SCAPP3LL3 & SPARK_JO & EVERYONE else wondering: My thought was that when we hit the end of the original 10 weeks (Feb 1 - next Friday!), we open up a new challenge thread. That way we can all get sort-of in-sync with each other and I won't need to search through hundreds of posts when I'm doing the recaps. :) Not that I'm self interested or anything! If there's any ideas of ways to make the challenge better, please put them out there! I've seen groups that have things like a weekly "additional" challenge (like posting not just weight, but also the number of days per week you were within your calorie range or adding in a bonus of asking everyone to do 10 push ups a day for one week, then 10 squats for the next week, etc) or prompts so that everyone has something to respond to at least once a week. If anyone wants stuff like that, I'm on board for pretty much anything, so put it out there!

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

I'm dropping out of this challenge. I'm too disgusted with myself and I'm actually too fat for this group anyway. Last week I didn't post because I was back up to 158.2 and today I weighed in at 164.8. How does one person, one 5' 1" person, gain that much weight in so little time? Binge eating. That's how. I'm back with OA like I should be. I just need to concentrate on that now. I'm sick of heading in the direction I'm going in.

I'll stick around until I'm at my goal. I'll even post every week as long as there is someone else here.
I'm thinking about revising my goal weight to my college weight -125. I'll make that decision upon reaching 132, or my birthday in March, whichever comes first.

No, no, I went from 71.6 to 71.2 last week, almost a lb :) I'll make my posts clearer next week. I also updated my signature, it should make more sense now.

Last night, I spent an hour trying old clothes: some fit, some almost fit and some should fit by spring. I KNEW I was right not to give them away.

Question: as I started the challenge quite late, I was wondering would still be around this thread after the first week of february?

I don't know about y'all, but I can't believe we're actually closing in on the end of this challenge! I don't really care if I actually make the 10lbs because I honestly feel like I've gotten as much out of this as I've lost. Losing slower has made me really really think I won't see some of those higher numbers again. I know it's easy to gain, but I'm really getting settled into a healthier lifestyle so I'm not as worried about that happening.

ANYWAY, on with the recap!

emoticon SCAPP3LL3 - Had an awesome, belief defying moment with ANOTHER 2lb loss! That streak is OUTSTANDING! She even moved the scale around to make sure it wasn't just tricking her...but from her enthusiastic posts about the Wheatbelly diet, I know she can feel the change in her body and doesn't even need the scale to know this is working for her. She's continuing to see lowest-in-a-lifetime measurements and is continuing to move forward!

emoticon HAPPYTOBEME79 - A wonderful week got her scale down 2lbs this week! She's not just "on track" to make the 10lbs at the end of the challenge, she's on track to BEAT it! She's 1lb away from her goal for Feb 8 so she's going to continue to replace sodas with water, continue to stretch every morning, and continue to keep her eye on the prize when it's time to eat. A super stressful week (kids in the HOSPITAL overnight!) has still not derailed her and she is doing amazing things.

emoticon COXBETH - In a wild, two week streak, I'm down ANOTHER 2lbs! I actually don't expect it to continue as my body adjusts, but I'm still in awe of the fact that I was down past 130 and that after two cheat meals in three days, I'm still staying at 130. It's time for a met-a-mini-goal reward...that and preparing for a sports-themed wedding (snowboarding in Tahoe in two weeks!) are keeping me honest and vigilant about my diet and workouts.

emoticon emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - She's gone and done it this time - she broke through the 140lb mark! Down 0.4 lbs, Kimberly is now BELOW her prepregnancy weight (and that's pre-TWO-pregnancies mind you!). And you know this is a lifestyle change, not some fleeting moment, because she was able to go out to an Iron Chef's restaurant and still make fun & healthy choices for herself. Oh yeah and get wished happy birthday by the Iron Chef Marc Forgione himself! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIMBERLY!

emoticon SPARK_JO - Tempted with the food in Switzerland, she still stayed in range and got in a ton of activity back at home. She's down more than a smidge (about 0.4 kg, which is almost a lb!) and has a strong plan to move forward and hit that her goal! Protein powder yogurt and longer days are all part of the plan that will make that happen!

emoticon SCORPIOLILY16 - She took a "rest" last week, but that has given her twice the dedication to stay accountable this week. She's not letting a 0.5lb gain get her down, but has already made her exercise plans AND found an accountability-buddy in her husband. Next week, she'll be right back at it with good food and lots of movement!

emoticon GILLENATOR - This week, she's doing the normal and expected two-pound-rebound. We all know weight loss isn't linear - it goes up and down some for all sorts of reasons - and she's keeping a good attitude. She knows her weaknesses and isn't letting a silly number on a scale change her mind about moving forward with healthy choices.

We're still missing Celia (DOINGTHISFORME5) and SHAMILES0423 from last week and haven't seen them yet this week. :(

Wow! So glad to see everyone did so well!!!!! I am thrilled that I broke 140 this week!

139.8, woohoo!

I stuck to my plateau program and thought that I would have lost more, but I will take it. It has been a very busy week and I have not been able to blog much. I have not been below 140 since before my daughters were born. It feels good. I am so proud of all of us for sticking to our programs and exercising. Thank you for all the support. This is a great way to stay accountable.

Way to go everyone! I'm fairly certain my 2 lbs last week was a fluke. I'm back up to 156 (I've been weighing myself every day for the past 4 days and it hasn't budged - I also have my monthly so that could be part of it). It's been a stressful week, but I've still managed to eat pretty good and got myself to the gym 2 or 3 times. My problem this week has been the late night munchies - my hubby is away for the week so at night when we usually chill and chat I'm alone snacking.

I got on and off my scale a few times too. In fact, I also picked it up and moved it to make sure the floor was even because I just couldn't believe it.

You are all keeping me motivated too. Without being held accountable to this challenge, I probably wouldn't be having this success.

YOU ALL ROCK!!!!

I would have probably gone back to my old habits already without all of you. Also, even though I'm doing this for me, the fact that we are all in the same boat and I see everyone doing so well, it feels like I owe it to all of you too, it that makes sense.

Oh, and thanks for all the thanks! :)

My husband does all his weight loss without social support so SP mystifies him. For me on the other hand, this type of accountability and these weekly check-ins are VITAL to keeping me on track when I feel like straying. And talking about successes and being positive about other people has made a HUGE difference in how I talk to myself when things aren't going so smoothly for me.

So thank YOU guys for coming on with the challenge! And coming back every week!

OMG OMG OMG you guys. I got on and off the scale four times this morning. I couldn't believe it was actually this far below 130. There's something that is just so psychologically satisfying (or pathologically obsessive) about finally getting below 130. I think it's because when I hit 130, I knew I wasn't just "fluctuating" but was full-on just gaining weight. (And even knowing that I was undoing a year of hard work, I still JUST KEPT EATING AND SITTING AROUND.) It's also when I broke down and admitted I needed new jeans and had to go spend all that money on new stuff.

This week, I was pretty vigilant with my food consumption. I planned everything and stayed on plan - eating when I wasn't hungry (because I knew that if I didn't eat, I'd regret it) and not eating or drinking beer in response to stress (like last night). I've also been vigilant with my workouts, but I am one of those people who believe they don't really show up on the scale as much as they show up in self-confidence, strength, and pant size. The big win this week was yesterday, when I used a workout as a stress reliever. If I hadn't gotten my sweat on, I'd have had beer for sure later in the day.

So anyway, this two lbs is the most satisfying 2lbs I've ever lost.

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

71.2 (planned 71.0)

Not bad as I expected.

I weighted myself Wednesday, second day of my period, I was at 72.5. WHY do I weigh myself on these days? Don't ask.

As a result, I decided to finish my delicious dark chocolate almonds that were in my kitchen. Of course, with very little pleasure past the 5 or 6th, but I wanted to get them out of my face (very emotionally mature).

The rest of the week, I stayed within my range, despite two days in Switzerland where I always feel like eating all I can't find in Italy, biked to work and went for a 3K run this morning.

I was looking forward to get close to the psychological 70. Next week :)

It was completely dark this morning, but luckily the days are getting longer and it'll become easier.

I also found a new snack: non-fat yogurt with a table spoon of chocolate flavored protein powder: 150 Cal, yummy and filling.

WOW! It's been a great week for everyone that's checked in so far! Keep up the good work!

emoticon SCAPP3LL3 - A new approach to eating has led to a lowest-point-in-years type of week! She's down 2lbs and going STRONG!

emoticon SCORPIOLILY16 - Kim's down 2 and has a really positive attitude! She's ready to attack the rest of the challenge and end it on a positive note.

emoticon GILLENATOR - Is keeping her 2lb a week downward trend going strong! Her big shakeup when she joined up with SP was apparently JUST what the doctor ordered!

emoticon COXBETH - Down 1.5lbs after a less than stellar week, hopefully this trend will let me catch back up on the challenge...but even if it doesn't I'll still be down from where I started!

emoticon HAPPYTOBEME79 - Down ANOTHER pound and during a stressful time! She knows the importance of staying on track while dealing with the stress of school and remains committed to making good choices!

emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - Is not just down in weight, she's beating a plateau DESPITE a cold! Taking care of herself this week ALSO involves a reward of new clothes to fit that new body!

emoticon SPARK_JO - Down by 400g, she's keeping a great attitude and in high spirits! Both her food and activity are healthy, even though she's been sick. Hopefully next week she can get back on track prepping for a 10K in March!

Wow - looks like everyone is back on a roll this week with the positive results - GREAT JOB!!!

So I was MIA last week - so much going on, work, tailgating (Go Texans!), and the unhappy gain of almost 3lbs overnight after new years...most of which came off, but not quick enough.

But I'm back at it - I have joined the January Jumpstart program and have been good about sticking to it for the most part so far - the daily routines are great, not too difficult, but definitely a good workout - and quick! So happy that I've already seen a change for the better too! I am trying to stay positive, but am realistic that even though i won't make the 10lb goal by wk 10, I know I am in a much better position and got a jump start on the year - This challenge has really helped control what could have been a disaterous holiday season!

Well, down to business - my actual weigh-in this morning was 147.7, but i'm rounding it up to 148 since i know i was really dehydrated last night and will most likely see it stabilize up over the weekend...

Here's to another great week ladies!

This week started out with stress (going to Houston to help my mom after surgery...then Dad had chest pains...all is well now, but it was a little nerve-wracking) to which I responded with beer. When I got home, I got more stress (internship, school, and a little of work) to which I responded with not exercising. I kicked it into gear though and ate right and worked out for the last half of the week. And I think that worked, mentally if not physically. I'm down 1.5lb from last week (my scale is being optimistic) and while I'm still not on track all the way, I'm way way closer. Still fighting off a major depression episode, but the best way for me to do that is to refuse to say anything not positive (and try to change the way I think) and to workout. So as soon as I post this, I'm going for my short run of the week.

Woohoo Too! 140.2! Finally, the hard work is paying off. Reward is a new work out outfit.

I made some changes after the new year. I started Spark Coach to bust this plateau in a 28 day program and have been following suggested meal plans and substitutions to change it up alittle. I think my body was getting used to the same routine. Also, added one more workout to the week. So I am feeling good. Struggling with a cold this week, but not letting it interfere with the program.

I love this because it's been a few years since I've gotten below 140. I'd like to keep it this way! After reading the "Wheatbelly" book two weeks ago I gave up wheat and it seems to be working for me. I feel good and have lost a lot of bloat in my belly.

WEEK 1 RECAP

It was neither good, nor bad. I'm 400 g (0.9 lb) down since last week, practically met the goal.

I weighed myself Monday (I know, it's bad. Sue me.) and I was surprisingly at 71.3. I remember thinking "yay, I'll start the challenge with a double loss".

emoticon

And I'm up again. It's also probably partly due to entering the second part of my cycle.

This is I emoticon

Food wise, I did OK. I went over my limit twice (but still not above 1650 Cal), despite two business meals, so it was well managed, I guess. And I didn't eat any "empty food".

emoticon

Fitness wise, nothing to be proud of. I've done core training two mornings (half hour total) and I biked to work (2.5 hrs over one week), but nothing else. I wanted to start training for the 10 K I want to run at the end of March, but I had a sore throat and bad cough the entire week, so I didn't really feel like running.

(insert emoticon of a lazy woman on a couch)

I'm looking forward to read your recap later today!

I don't know how I missed it, but Celia's recap was added today, copied below for all to see...

emoticon DOINGTHISFORME5 - Checking in on Monday as usual, she posted ANOTHER huge loss of 1.4lbs! She showed us that she's got the mental fortitude for the long game and didn't let some minor holiday gains from a few weeks ago slow her down! She's on her way to getting the new gym shoes she promised herself as a reward and is only 0.8lbs from that goal!

So, I just want to thank Kimberly (and anyone else who read it) for the awesome kind words about my blog post on 1/4. It really was hard to write and it really is super important to me. Getting my thoughts out in words was really good for me and will help me make sure I keep living up to them. And knowing that those thoughts are being read by people makes me accountable, but it also makes me want to strive to stay healthy mentally because I'm doing good by helping other people with those thoughts.

It's totally humbling and amazing and ThankYouThankYouThankYou to everyone who has sent a SparkGoodie or left me a note or read my blog. I'm so so so inspired to be more honest and more accepting of myself because of you.

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

I updated the weekly-wrap-up with Kimberly's recap, also copied here:

emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - Is not feeling excited about her performance at last week's holiday parties, but she put on her game face and checked the scoreboard. She's down to 141.6, which is a loss from the last time she posted a weight (142.2)! I'm so excited that she didn't give in to the temptation to avoid a weigh-in after all - her mental game is tough and dedicated and she is ready to DOMINATE this healthy lifestyle!

Thank you for the welcome. As I'm a metric girl, it's easier for me to go for 500g a week, which is quite close to a pound.

And at the end of the challenge, i'll be at my goal weight. That's exciting, it's feel much more real now

After reading Coxbeth's amazing blog last night, I decided to weigh in this morning. I was happy to be at 141.6 considering that on Wed. I was up to 144.6. Guess I was retaining alot of water this week. Thanks for all the support!

Note: Most of this was written while I was still high on Texas A&M's bowl win (American college football for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about) and reading a lot of sportswriter recaps. This MAY have influenced me more than a little. ;)

It's gut-check time ladies. Too bad we don't have anyone named Johnny in this group - I dearly want to use "Johnny Weightloss" in some way.

emoticon HAPPYTOBEME79 - After being perfectly on plan last week, she's kick-starting 2013 by BEATING the plan this week with a 2lb loss!! In non-scale victories, she's also started doing morning stretches, despite not liking fitness. She's still following her plan and KISSing the weight goodbye!

emoticon COXBETH - I'm fighting back after the holidays and weddings intercepted my weight loss efforts. Down 2 lbs since last weigh-in, I've got my eye on the prize and am going to be back to meeting my goal next week in order to stay on track with the challenge.

emoticon GILLENATOR - She is attacking the new year and her switch to SparkPeople, knowing that she's in a must-win situation. Small changes - like cutting out calories in creamer - lead to her putting up big numbers again with a 2lb loss!

emoticon DOINGTHISFORME5 - Checking in on Monday as usual, she posted ANOTHER huge loss of 1.4lbs! She showed us that she's got the mental fortitude for the long game and didn't let some minor holiday gains slow her down! She's on her way to getting the new gym shoes she promised herself as a reward and is only 0.8lbs from that goal!

emoticon SCAPP3LL3 - Down to 141, which is a loss of the extra water weight and back to the preholiday season weight. She's been looking over her loss-gain record and is ready to make some halftime adjustments and get to losing 1lb a week STAT.

emoticon SPARK_JO - Our newest recruit, she's ready to become a team player. We've got her starting weight (in kg) and we know her plan to drop 0.5kg next week. Welcome to the challenge Spark_Jo!

emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - Is not feeling excited about her performance at last week's holiday parties, but she put on her game face and checked the scoreboard. She's down to 141.6, which is a loss from the last time she posted a weight (142.2)! I'm so excited that she didn't give in to the temptation to avoid a weigh-in after all - her mental game is tough and dedicated and she is ready to DOMINATE this healthy lifestyle!

On the Bench This Week: These are the teammates who haven't taken the field yet this week. We know they are going to step up and make a play when they can, and we're excited to hear from them when they do!

Week 0: 160
Week 1: 158
Week 2: 156

I'm not sure what's sparked my weight loss. Maybe it's the change in 'scenery' with my logging. This week I gave up coffee - more importantly the creamer that's in it. I'm going to go 30 days without coffee and then at the end of the month see if I can drink it black. I replaced it with tea. I like tea plain so I'm saving myself between 210-315 calories a day. Must be working!

Ok, I shouldn't be so proud of this week because at least some of it is due to water weight (time of the month) and something weird going on digestively (you are just really lucky that I'm not sharing).

BUT I DON'T CARE. I'm still proud. Another week or two like this and I can still meet my goal for this 10 week challenge. I got in my run today and even did the dreaded-ab-exercises. Gotta stay on track this evening while I watch the Aggies BTHO OU in the bowl game at the local watering hole.

Oh, and weekly recap will be this evening; I'll update it as others weigh in since we're not all weighing in today.

I haven't tracked in two weeks, but I didn't put any weight (despite my new b**** scale making me 300g heavier than the old one). I'll join you next week, when I'm back home and back to work.

I have also started early morning stretches. Fitness is my favorite but unless I eat like a bird I don't know how else I can lose the rest of my weight. I am just going to take babysteps just like I did with healthy eating.

Still keeping it simple just adding the fitness to my life, one babystep at a time.

emoticon DOINGTHISFORME5 - Celia is one of our great success stories of the week! In her words, she "ma[de] the changes [she] needed to see results" - and the scale gave them to her with a TWO POUND LOSS!
emoticon GILLENATOR - Another big winner/loser! On her first check-in during our challenge, she's posted a 2 lb loss, breaking through an annoying plateau with GUSTO. She's got a couple of great plans - cleaner eating and a fitness plan - so this momentum should let her just sail into the new year.
emoticon SCORPIOLILY16 - Kim's scale is a truculent toddler who won't take off her favorite outfit - it's found a number it likes and it will NOT be moved. This is still a win though - since there's been no gain at all through a hectic season.
emoticon HAPPYTOBEME79 - The scale may look like it's "up" from last week but her check-ins show that she is on-track to meet her goals in Feb. She had a great active week in which she was swimming and ice skating (which sounds like a unique combination), and her attitude is 100% motivating!
emoticon SCAPP3LL3 - She's keeping us honest, with the first check-in after we all let the communications go dark on Dec 28. She knows that her gain is probably due in large part to water retention. She's going to keep on doing what she knows is right (hint: emoticon ) and will no doubt have a happier scale on Jan 4 for the next weigh in. She's also started a new diet that has her super-duper excited - I can't wait to hear about it!
emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - She's been doing an amazing job of maintaining her mental game through the majority of the holiday season, but gave in to temptation some this week. Not as much exercise and quite a few more holiday cookies. She can regroup and stay strong through a visit from friends though and will be back on track ASAP.
emoticon COXBETH - A week of excess at the family hacienda resulted in a higher scale reading than hoped for. This may throw off the final goal for the end of the challenge, but I'm still proud of myself for the few good choices that I made when I could have kept the slump going. Next weigh-in is only four days away, and I want to post some sort of loss.
emoticon SHAMILES0423 - Shamiles0423 is our newest member, starting out today at 162. She's weighing in on Sundays, so hopefully we'll hear more from her then!

Out-of-Connection this week:
SPARK_JO - Spark_Jo is new to the challenge, and has the added complication that her internet is spotty over the next two weeks. She's tracking though and she'll be back in January!

Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

I'm baaaaaaaack! Finally! I rocked my socks off during the "real" vacation (snowboarding with fit people) and put them right back on during the "family" vacation (staying at my parents', meeting all the family for lunches and stuff, and two weddings). It was surreal - I knew that I'd be tempted and I had a whole plan for how I would deal and the minute I walked back into the house I ignored it. Fortunately, my mom has created a household that is not exactly an bastion of unhealthiness and my hubs got serious about making healthier choices during the last two days (which rubbed off me some and meant he cooked a really healthy pot roast for dinner). My downfall was probably beer, which is just something that has become an integral part of casual celebrations with the fam.

The good part, is that I was more moderate this year than I have been in the past.Next year I'll be even better at controlling my intake.

Week 1: 158

Down 2lbs this week. I think switching from myfitnesspal to sparkpeople helped. I also started weighing and portioning every thing again and got back to making cleaner food options. I just started Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer (workout #3 of week 1 today) and joined a challenge to eat clean for the month of January. I'm hoping to bust right through this plateau (I've been at 160 for quite some time now).

I spent the week swimming and ice skating so I don't know how that happened. But like I said before I lose weight the scale always seems to go up a few pounds before it goes back down. Weird I know but that has been the pattern all year.

I did the same thing right before I signed up I was 162 but the Friday before I lost more weight I was 165.

Cheers to the ups and downs.

May the pounds up be small and the pounds down be big :)

Kimberly, One of my recent revelations that I'm trying to internalize is that I CAN socialize and be happy without food and drink! Trying to disengage the two is hard, but I'm working on it.

So I was not as good as I had hoped this past week and I am up 1 lb. I weighed in at 142.2 this morning. So much for maintaining with a strong mental game. I gave into myself. I am looking forward to a new week. Hopefully, I can keep it together on New Year's Eve. I have my college roommate and her family coming in for the night and we love to eat, drink, and be happy. Being happy is good, but eating and drinking not so much . . . Still need to come up for a plan of attack for Monday and Tuesday. Happy new year Sparkers!!! Let's say hello to 2013 in a positive way!!! emoticon

HAH - I think I was waiting to post also, hoping the scale would have moved a little, but no change from Friday... I guess in this season, for me, staying the same is almost as good as loosing because it means I didn't gain. As much as I do enjoy the holiday season, I can't wait for it to be done with so I can get back on track and focus without the added temptations...

Scapp3ll3 - I totally agree with your theory for your gain & i'm sure you'll see a change for next week :)

Happy New Year everyone!!

I see nobody posted yesterday.....I can't say why no one else posted, but I can tell you that I didn't post because I was embarrassed and disgusted at my 2 pound weight gain!!!!!
I'm trying to justify it with the following reasons: 1. I consumed a LOT of Sushi on Thursday night which means soy sauce which is very salty and can cause water retention and 2. I'm expecting my friend any day now (TMI? Sorry) which causes water retention as well.
In other words, I'm not fat, I'm just watery. emoticon

Here's the not-quite-weekly recap (just a few more days late than last time):

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon DOINGTHISFORME5 - Last week, she had a 0.6lb gain, but was dealing with wicked stress due to medical concerns. Then another 2.2lb gain, listed with the statement "completely disgusted with myself!" Sparkers, let's get on this STAT and send her some encouraging and positive messages! Those gains are not out of control and don't have to be a big downer - let's help Celia look forward to the losses in her future, especially once she can start to get her migraines under control in January, rather than focusing on these relatively small gains. emoticon emoticon

emoticon emoticon HAPPYTOBEME79 - In an awesome and powerful move, she is FOUR POUNDS ahead of schedule!! Her blog is full of her success at the mental game as well - she's learned how to make healthy choices feel natural and can walk away from a Christmas party feeling proud and happy, not deprived or depraved. HUGE WIN!!

emoticon SCAPP3LL3 - Posted a big loss of 1.5 lbs! Not much else we can say about that but WOOHOO!

emoticon KIMBERLY_Y - Had ANOTHER losing week, down another 0.6lbs! She's spending this week focused on maintaining that loss over the next week - and that week includes a SIX HOUR car trip. Her plan is to keep asking herself, "Is this worth it?" before eating any holiday goodies, which will be a mental win all by itself.

emoticon COXBETH - In a miraculous occurrence, a loss of 0.5 lbs while on VACATION! Horray for fewer unhealthy choices and a very active vaca. Now, the test is to keep the streak alive while continuing the vacation with family.

emoticon GILLENATOR - A new "face", Gillenator posted her starting weight at 160 on 12/23. She's already done an amazing amount of work (as you can see in her before & "current" pic on her blog - http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=G
ILLENATOR), and is working on that last 14 lbs. We're all about celebrating every single small goal and can't wait to cheer with her over every loss the scale shows and every "mental victory" along the way to that final goal!

emoticon SCORPIOLILY16 - A 0.2lb gain is pretty small, but Kim is going to use it to get her mojo back on track. She's been active on SP with her first blog post in 6 months, and it has a GREAT idea that I will be using to help get me through the eggnog-laden vacation this week.

Gillenator - Welcome to the challenge!!

Well, another week where my willpower wasn't holding, and I have no excuses for not being more active. I need to find my motivation again. I pledge to try to be more active this week, and be moderate in my food choices.

Been sitting at 160 for awhile, that's why I'm switching from myfitnesspal to sparkpeople. Hopefully it's just the change I'm looking for.

Disclaimer: my scale is a bit weird and only shows kilos and half kilos, so I'm down to 64 k which is 141 but it might actually be 141.1 or 141.2. I don't know for sure, but it's a loss so I'll take it!
