I didn't keep track of my points on the challenge this week, but I am learning that the hardest thing about summer is sitting outside enjoying some good food and a couple of drinks with friends. I am really going to have to have some will power which has never been my strength.

Tuesday: 40, did it all (although I barely made the sleep requirement, but got 7 1/2 hours)

Wednesday: 40. Yesterday I completely blew my diet (but tracked it all!), although I was surprised to see I didn't go over my calories as much as I thought I would have...but I ate way too much junk. Back on track today though! Seeing that although the scale's stuck this week I still lost over an inch (overall) on my measurements gave me a bit of a boost which I definitely needed!

The hardest thing for me in summer is to that I usually have a lot of sporting events each weekend with my sons and I end up eating fast food. I will go all week eating right and then Saturday comes and it is blown. I have been trying to not fall into this pattern, though, since I started Spark.

Monday was shot. So, for T/W:

Track Food - 20 pts
Exercise (at least 10-15 min) - 20 pts

Bonus: Sleep and water are two of the most important things to stay healthy.

Water (8+ glasses) - 20 pts if I go upstairs and finish that last 8 oz
Sleep (7+ hours) - oh, lost big time on this one. I'm tired of working late, maybe I should call it quits tonight.

Biggest struggle: all the traveling. I can track food/drink water/ work out when I am in my routine. Weekends are hard enough to stay on track, but weekends away or at BBQs can be tough for me.

My biggest issue over the summer is definitely going to be finding time to workout. I will have to do the early morning workout too, but also, make use of the resources I have that can be used with the kids around. For example, gardening, swimming with the kids, going for hikes on local trails with the kids. I also have a lot of equipment on hand at home, nad I wil lhave to make use of it, and schedule occasional runs, bike rides etc when my husband is available to stay with the kidlets.

Bonus: (50) My biggest struggle during the summer is staying away from high calorie drinks. My friends love to grill by the lake, fish, hang-out, and drink. Before I know it, I've drank over a 1,000 calories with 4 Ruby Relaxers and set myself back on the scale! This is a constant struggle during the summer because we get together at the lake almost every other weekend. emoticon

Good morning! When I came up with challenge and the final totals for the end of the week I did the math for 6 days not 7, BUT now looking back it must have been first day of the week brain loss but it won't add up to 300 so if you want to count Monday as a bonus go for it.

Track Food - 10
Exercise - 10

Water - 10
Sleep - 10

Challenge - My biggest challenge of the summer is more opportunities to eat, BBQ's, hanging out at the boat and so on. Places where it's harder to account for what I'm eating. I agree that there is more time for activity and better fruits and veggies, but the opportunities to hang out, eat and drink are increased as well. - 50

LOL, not paying attention, I posted as if yesterday was Monday! I have fixed it now. I noticed some counted Monday and some didn't. Should we take those points off, or does it matter? I track these things daily, anyway, but some may not.

Biggest summer struggle: 50
I think the biggest struggle for me is making time to workout with the kids home. When they are in school, I can exercise while they are at school. When they are at home, I find it difficult to focus on myself long enough for a workout because someone always needs something, or two of them will get into a fight and need mom to intervene or something. My plan to overcome this is to get up early enough to get my workout in before the kids start getting up.

Track Food - 10 pts/day
Exercise (at least 10-15 min) - 10 pts/day

Bonus: Sleep and water are two of the most important things to stay healthy.

Water (8+ glasses) - 10 pts/day

Great, another challenge (I missed last week's)...

So for Monday I get all 40 plus 50.

Summer I find easier for the most part since I'm more active outdoors and actually enjoy doing more things. My biggest challenge would be due to the increased activity, my hunger goes up, and keeping what I eat to a more reasonable place is a challenge. The other big challenge is because I'm out more, it also means I'm eating out more, so I really have to be cognizant of what I'm actually putting in my mouth.

Biggest struggle I was just saying this out loud and my soon to be 16 year old daughter says wearing a bikini mom which is right I hate to look at myself right now even tho ppl say I am fine. So that is it for me I think.

I am new here! So...Hello everyone!!! Does green tea count for the water requirement? If so I made all of those goals for Monday. If not then I missed that one! I am going to do my best with the goals. I am traveling home to a family BBQ Friday and coming back Sunday with my Mom and her husband. I have an iphone so I can track everything while I am gone.
There is a gym at the hotel and they have a continential breakfast in the morning...
My biggest challenge for the summer is my mother will be staying with our family for about two weeks.
Maintianing a healthy menu will be difficult. Especially limiting desserts! Top it off my step-father has a hard time maintaining his weight. She told me he weighs 112 now and he eats a huge amount of food every day.

Thanks for the challenge! - Count me in:

Monday: 90 pts. (tracked food, exercised, drank all my water and got 8 hours of sleep last night)

The hardest part for me during the summer is that I'm more likely to graze throughout the day. During the school year, even though I'm home, I homeschool our two boys so mealtimes are more scheduled. We finished school last week and already I'm finding that I snack more often during the day while the kids are outside for hours on end. I need more structure!

Yeay! I'm excited to have a challenge again! I actually love summers because it's easier to stay active thanks to the great outdoors and fruits and veggies are plentiful and cheap...However...for the challenge:

The hardest thing about summers for me would be all the potluck and get togethers with all that yummy food.

I am in, because I am already doing all of these things, and I like the accountability to keep it going!

Monday:

Track food:10
Exercise:10

Water:10 (I actually need to cut back on water I think, I have been drinking up to 20 cups a day, so my challenge is going to be to drink ONLY 10 cups a day)
Sleep:10(got 8 last night)

Total for Monday: 40

I am going to think about the bonus, not sure what the biggest issue is, so I will pin it down for tomorrow.

Track Food - 10 pts/day
Exercise (at least 10-15 min) - 10 pts/day

Bonus: Sleep and water are two of the most important things to stay healthy.

Water (8+ glasses) - 10 pts/day
Sleep (7+ hours) - 10 pts/day

And last to earn 50 pts for the week (you can only earn this once) tell us what your biggest struggle is with the summer. I can only speak for myself, but I find that summer is the HARDEST season to lose weight.

Yes, but I can't get there everyday. This summer I plan to do things differently, write things down-meals, exercise, and such, and then enter them when I am able to go to the library. I'm going to have to force myself to be more organized at home like I am at work. And I mean FORCE!! LOL

I really enjoy having access to Spark every day!

Summer is the worst for me because I work at a school and have the summers off. I enter my info on my spark nutrition and fitness pages on my breaks at work since I don't have internet at home and when I don't have to be at work all summer, I'm lost!

Hello All! Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I am finally done traveling and hope to be back full time. Ugh my weight loss efforts went to hell with the traveling - SUCKS! Anyway so I want to make this challenge short and sweet. I noticed that a lot of people disappeared last week. Not sure if it was due to the holiday or just having a hard time. So here's the simple way to get back on track...

Basics: Here is what I'm thinking - we all have trouble getting started and staying accountable - myself included with jumping back on the wagon so this week I just want you to focus on tracking food and getting moving. I don't care if you go over or under your calories all that counts this week for points is did you track what you ate and are you accountable for every bite, lick, and taste. Next - exercise - summer is a great time to do outdoor activities. Going for a swim, a walk, playing volleyball. bike ride, or our usual gym routine's. What ever it is - DO SOMETHING to get moving. Turn the music up in your bedroom and dance around like a fool for 10 minutes and work up a sweat, play tag with your kids, whatever it is - GET MOVING for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day!
