The great thing about the NYTIMES burgers is that they are better if they sit a while. Make them early if you can because they firm up as they sit.

I never buy BOCA or litelife or any fake meats because it is so easy to make all of those things myself. Veggie burgers are so easy to make yourself ! Rip's NY TIMES VEGGIE BURGERS are delicious have no soy in them, only whole foods and are firm and delicious. Soy isolates that are in boca burgers and many of the prepackaged faux meats are the really bad parts of the soy. I also like PPK's Beet burgers. They are so yummy! Both of these burger recipes can be baked and then frozen and brought out and reheated for a quick meal any night of the week.

i really haven't used the agave but once and then read negative things so I quit using it.
I will have to look for non gmo from boca. I have never seen it though. I like honey and do use it too but not too much. I have diabetes so have to be careful. I don't use artificial sweeteners because they hurt my stomach with really bad cramps.
Thanks for you input. I really appreciate it.

My daughter is a big fan of vanilla almond milk, while I much prefer vanilla coconut milk. There's fewer calories in the coconut milk and it has a much lighter flavor.

I do NOT knowingly eat GMO's, though I know it happens from time to time. Boca offers non-gmo veggie burgers if you can find them in the tan/beige box and they only have 70 - 90 calories per patty. They say Non-GMO right on the box. Some food manufacturer's actually care enough to offer products that have not been genetically modified. There are several other brands as well such as Amy's and LightLife. LightLife has a LOT of calories (190 each), more than twice as many so I don't usualy use those unless I cut them in half.

I really like the vegan lentil burger recipe (under 130 calories) that I found here on SparkRecipes. They freeze well and can be whipped out and reheated at any time for a quick and healthy snack or as part of a healthy, balanced meal. recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai

I have a recipe makeover that I really like where they are a little spicier: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai

I hope you find something that you can eat that doesn't upset your stomach. That's miserable, I know!

Almost forgot Agave - becaue I don't have a sweet tooth it isn't an issue for me, but I will use locally grown, organic raw honey over agave syrup any day. I don't believe agave syrup is a healthy option because it is so refined, but if you must use it, Ibelieve you're better off using the lighter syrups instead of the dark amber.

try vanilla almond milk on cereal. It give it a little sweet taste so you don't need sugar...a thing I still have trouble getting rid of. I have a terrible sweet tooth.

I ask my natuopath. He's good with agave, but not in large quantities like baking. However, a little here and there he figures is fine.

Lately I'm hearing about GMO soy, so I'm starting to wonder about that. However, due to food allergies I only drink chocolate soy milk. I am starting to switch to almond milk too, but the taste is taking me some getting used to .

I tried tofu once a long time ago...before I went back to meat...Doctor said I needed it when I had cancer, 2 kinds, ovarian and uterin. I was only going part vegetarian back then. I did not like it at all. I followed a recipe but don't remember what it was. Trying to find recipes and foods that I can like. I have not eaten any meat except for fish in a year and am now trying again to become full vegetarian.
Any foods and recipe heads up would be appreciated.I was eating Morningstar farms and boca off an on until I read that most soy is filled with gmos. It also hurt my stomach off and on before then so I ate it in moderation. I thought about using agave nectar but read it wasn't really good for you. So how do you decided if the things you read are good or if it is just an overkill?
