Most of the carbs I get are from veggies, beans & fruits. I don't often add breads or pasta unless I'm eating a lot of greens that day just because I can feel it when I eat refined carbs.
Try eating more green veggies that don't have many carbs if you find that you're getting too much. You can eat a LOT of salad or steamed veggies without going over any recommended nutrients. I have cut my portions of other foods on my plate to make room for a huge salad. That way I feel like I've eaten a lot - because I have - and not overdo it.
