I have been a vegan for only 9 days and am not craving meat as much. I know this is the best way of eating a lifestyle for me I just have to keep plugging along day by day. And I have a family of four and I'm the only one who has chosen to become a vegan, I get their support sometimes and others not, but again I'm pressing on undeterred.

I have only been eating this way for a month and I have not gone completely to veg/vegan. My hubby is not going to change his eating habits so I still have to cook for him. I have never liked to cook but I must say that in the past month I have been getting more interested in it. We have two wonderful restaurants here that are vegetarian/vegan/organic.
We go to church dinner every week and I eat what they serve. It is just easier. The main reason I decided to eat this way was mainly to give up dairy products and red meat because the were not nice to me. LOL!
I love all types of beans and greens so I am not finding it hard to change I just have to be careful with my sodium intake due to high blood pressure.

I've never liked cooking - the act of cooking itself. Although, I do find Vegan cooking more challenging and it's been fun finding recipes with all the new ingredients I've been introduced to, i.e., nutritional yeast (yum!)

If the restaurants you go to serve Vegetarian, could you ask them to tweek a dish so it's Vegan? When my husband and I go out to eat, I usually settle for a simple salad. We went out to eat with friends this past Friday night and I ordered a vege burger. I have a feeling the roll wasn't Vegan - not even sure if the vege burger was 100% Vegan - but I do what I can do.

I believe in myself, I am a strong woman. I will reach my goals, NOTHING & NOBODY will hold me down. I will live my life with integrity and intention. I will set a good example for my daughters and my son. I will be a woman that makes my grand children proud when they look at pictures of me long after I've left this earth.

Self_Respect,
I had to think about it. I think my biggest hurdle is less an actual food, but more situational. I live in Germany and finding a vegetarian meal at a restaurant is usually pretty easy. Vegan meals, on the other hand are a bit more difficult. Plus, my husband is not a veggie and I feel bad that he might miss out on a restaurant he might want to try because there are so few options for me.
So, is it the act of cooking you don't like or that it can be time consuming?

I was vegetarian for 25 years before I went any further, so I guess it was slow for me! But when I felt ready ready it was *poof*, cold tofurkey, never looked back.

I've only started my Vegan journey so I haven't been at this very long. I truly would care less if I never had any dairy products or eggs or,certainly, meat again. I don't like to cook so preparing meals for myself is going to be my biggest hurdle.

What are you having a hard time letting go of, if you don't mind my asking? Pat

I truly believe that the vegan lifestyle is the best for me. So why is it taking me so long to completely switch over? Does anyone else have this problem?
