Healthy, I have to get in the "mind set" to want to lose weight, and therefore not eat certain things. Carbs, especially sugar, are "addictive". When we eat sugary foods, our blood sugar goes up right away and we lose our hunger, but the sugar levels drop rapidly also, so we feel hungry very soon after eating the carbs. We also crave things like sugar, chocolate, and caffeine. They make our serotonin levels go up, so we feel good. If you cut out the cakes, cookies, soda, and candy, your body will adjust and you won't crave them.
I can go long periods of time without craving sweets, but as soon as I eat a piece of cake, for instance, and the cake is in the house, I want to eat cake for dessert after EVERY meal and for snack times, too. It's best if I don't eat the first piece.
Good luck getting a handle on your temptations.

Thank you to everyone for their kind posts!!!! My 28 year old is a vegetarian, she stopped eating meat earlier this year as she does not like how animals are treated. And now my 18 year old is wanting to eat vegetarian to feel healthy, she has seen how healthy and easy it is to not eat meat. We are now working on my son in law and 19 yr old son to eat healthier and more plant based foods.
Fantastic!! I started full-fledged vegan sometime in Sept I think, and decided to take the October Unprocessed challenge. I, too, have lost weight & not had any migraines, which I had pretty regularly before. I love this lifestyle! Congratulations to you!!
Some people think the “plant-based whole foods diet” is extreme. Half a million a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme. - Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, “Forks Over Knives”

I am going into my last week of a 6 week commitment to eating Vegan, without most processed food and using nuts and seeds as my fats. So far I am down 15lbs and have lost 4 inches off of my waist. I started this to see if I could cure my migraines with food. The result, YES, not a single migraine in the past 5 weeks!! Usually I would have had at least 2-3 migraine episodes lasting 2-7 days depending on the severity. But NOT A SINGLE ONE!!! The other amazing "side effect" of eating vegan, I am not as gray as I once was....I have colored my hair routinely for about 10 years now to hide my gray. I had colored my hair about a week before beginning my commitment and thought that my hair wasn't really growing, but upon further inspection my hair is growing back with more dark hair and less gray....WHO KNEW?!! I've had friends and my family look because I thought I was seeing things, but it is true! Once my commitment is up I will continue eating Vegan at least 90% of the time, plant based food is the way to go!!!
