I don't make them as big as this recipe. Plus I subbed tomato paste for oil and blended oats for the breadcrumbs to make them gluten free.

I have not tried those particular lentil burgers, but I have always found lentil burgers a little more difficult to stick together.

This recipe for the NY Times veggie burgers I shared DOES hold together really well, so you don't have to add flax eggs unless you just want to add the flax flavor.

if they don't seem to hold together well (I'm not sure, I haven't tried those particular ones) add a flax egg substitute to the mix.1 tbsp ground flax (grind fresh) and 3 tbsp warm water. Mix together then refrigerate for about 15 mins to get the correct consistency. This turns into a sticky goo which helps hold things together but you cannot taste the flax in your recipes.

Here is a vegan black bean burger recipe that does hold together and is very good. The recipe calls for fresh cilantro but I use parsley instead because my daughter doesn't like cilantro.

I make them all of the time and people just rave about them. They have oats, (recipe calls for quick oats, I never have them in my pantry but if you whirl whole oats in a blender for a few seconds, you have quick oats!) carrots, rinsed black beans and spices.

(I have some in my freezer and this post makes me want one for supper.)

Has anyone tried the Vegan Lentil Burgers recipe suggested on the Meal Plan? Do they hold together? Are they good?
