My dad tried something that really helped him. It was from those folks on PBS who do those "People's Pharmacy" sort of infomercials for their book. I don't recall the exact ingredients, though, so you might have to "google it" and find it. I think it has three ingredients and I only remember two: apple sauce and pureed prunes mixed together (and some other ingredient, I think). He said it did wonders. Just google "People's Pharmacy constipation remedy" (which should help with roids, too). But I'm not sure about if it contain's calcium, though.

Mike, I take Magnesium capsules every day. They help a lot. (Milk of Magnesia has magnesium in it.) I also eat a bowl of bran flakes every day. This along with my high fiber vegan diet keeps me 'going' when the medicine slows me down.
I have to be very careful to not eat white rice, white bread or white rice noodles or take calcium or I am also in big trouble that takes a week to settle back down.
Hi Kokoek9, I am in the same situation - no seeds, nuts etc. When the 'rhoids act up I take 3 Citrucel caps following breakfast and drink two tall glasses of water - water is very important to prevent the fiber from getting to thick. The metamucil is too irritating and the Citracal does not cause gas. More help is available from www.helpforibs.com where you will find a list of soluble and insoluble fiber and what is helpful. Take care. EasySpirit12 www.helpforibs.com
