The one Boni recommended is great. Stay away from any with casseine, whey, or any milk bi-products.
Raw Protein Protein Powder is the one I used. Of course I get more than enough protein eating raw greens in my green juices and when I'm eating, green smoothies.
We only need 2 1/2% to 5% of caloric intake from plant protein. Don't believe the meat and milk producers that just want us to over-protein ourselves. No one has died of a protein deficiency. Too much protein and what the body doesn't use gets excreted out in our urine.
You want to avoid soy based or whey based protein powders. Protein powders using soy protein isolates are a very refined, heavily processed and isolated soy protein that your body cannot easily identify. Of course whey protein is a dairy protein so you'll want to avoid that. I'd go with Greens Vegan formula or Vega Whole Food Optimizer or Smoothie Infusion. Keep in mind with Vega you need only use 1 scoop not 2 to make a shake. Both Greens and Vega are pea and rice protein based and vegan.
There is a new player on the market called Shakeology that has one vegan formula. This is also an excellent product, but currently is only available in one flavour and you can only order it directly from the website. www.shakeology.com/
Stay away from Visalis which is not vegan but is gaining popularity in home group sales.

I have one that I use when we are on vacation for the very reasons you list. It's called Spiru-Tein High Protein Energy Meal. It mixes well, even just in a shaker which is one of the reasons it's great on the road.
Some protein powders are made with whey which is not vegan.

Hi everyone, I have been thinking about having a protein shake in the morning every now and then. They would be quick to make when I am in a hurry to get out the door, and easy to travel with. But I know nothing about them. Are all protein powders vegetable (vegan) based. What do I need to look for. Are there any brands out there you really like.
