I don't see the veggie patties on their website. But here is what it does say about vegan products that I found helpful:

"What menu items at SUBWAYģ restaurants are vegan/do not contain animal-derived ingredients?

The menu items that do not contain any animal-derived ingredients are the Veggie Deliteģ on Italian bread and the Veggie Deliteģ salad. Also these individual items also do not contain animal-derived ingredients: all vegetables, oil, vinegar, mustard, sweet onion sauce and fruizle. The 9-grain wheat bread contains honey but no other animal-derived ingredients."

Yep, I'm vegan, too, and I was so sorry when I found out the Veggie Max patties have egg white in them. Now it doesn't feel like much fun to go to Subway anymore unless we bring it home. In that case I can get a Veggie Delight, hold the cheese, and add my own Galaxy Vegan pepper jack and a couple of slices of Yves cold cuts, schmeer on a little Vegenaise and a shake or two of balsamic vinegar, and yowza!

Has anybody heard that Corporate pulled the Veggie Patties? I was told it was a safety issue. I've only one source so I would like to see if anybody else has gotten the same information.

Not all (Gardenburger) or veggie patties are created equal. A lot of them have cheese in them, so if you are looking for vegan you really have to be careful. A lot of the people working in the subway shops do not know if theirs contains cheese or not. So You need to be careful.

Some of the Subways out here have the veggie patty, some don't. I got one but I guess the person making the sub didn't know how long to leave it in the microwave because it was hard. I decided they weren't taught how to make it right and never got another. I am vegetarian for health reasons and meat makes me cramp up, even a little meat, so I make them change their gloves. Most of the place around here the person that makes your sandwich is the person that rings you up, so you see them changing their gloves as they walk to take the next order.

I eat at Subway more now that I have DGD. When CPS gave her to me, she hadn't had a home cooked meal since my son moved away over a year before. I had to wean her off fast food, that is all she would eat. Subway was our fast food joint. You should see a vegetarian that is tiring to loss weight feed a little girl that is use to eating chicken nuggets and french fries 2 meals a day.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I had the veggie burger patty at Dennyís over the weekend. I have had it there before and usually eat only 1/2 (or less) of the bun. I suspect the bun is about 450 calories. Its one of those oversized whole grain buns. But the patty itself is pretty good, and you can see the kernels of brown rice and the black beans in it if you look closely. Itís good, but be sure to order it without mayo and cheese. You can also substitute the fries for a baked potato or a bowl of fruit.

Oh, that makes sense!

Thanks for answering my question! Whats funny, is I always get the Italian bread... Im thinking I may have been more vegetarian than I realized... tee hee.

Now, I just have to figure out what all the chemicals are and have in them and I'll be good!

Thanks for doing the taste test.

Subway does not use eggs and milk in the Italian or 9-grain wheat bread. However, the wheat does contain honey. So the Italian is the only truly vegan option.

I can't speak for everybody, but I personally don't eat bread (or anything else) unless I know that it does not contain eggs or dairy. I avoid honey too, but I haven't decided how I stand on that yet.

Since Im kinda new to this I decided to go ahead and try the veggie patty to see what I thought.

It definately tastes like there is some sort of egg or something in it, most likely to hold the patty together, and it was a little greasy, but the overall flavor of it wasn't bad.

I think I will def stick to my veggie delight though. I enjoy those a lot more.

Can I ask a quick question (and please don't lynch me, Im still learning about everything) Do those of you who are strict vegans still eat bread at places like subway? I mean, they still use eggs and mil in the bread, right? Maybe Im wrong, I was just thinking about that today and was curious...

Iíve often said that God (for me thatís the force that flows through everything) has a poor sense of humor but perfect timing. I went to my local Subway tonight and was informed that they no longer stock the veggie patties. Iíve been wanting to switch to just the Veggie Delite for several weeks but the artist at my Subway know me so well that they start making my sandwich when I pull up. I havenít found the right time to tell them I was changing my order plus I like the special treatment. (I take what I can get). The largest franchise in Central Florida discontinued the Veggie Max just for me. Now isnít that special? Iím constantly amazed at how perfect my world becomes when I donít screw it up, a slight variation on ďLet go and let GodĒ.

Yes, those veggie pattys are definitely not vegan, and probably not vegetarian either. They are high in cholesterol which points to animal fats/dairy. Not a healthy vegetarian choice by any means - its sort of greasy with lots of cheese in the mix. I just get a wheat roll and load it up with fresh veggies and top it with those sweet peppers for my flavor/treat. Very satisfying!

The veggie max is on the menu at one subway I go to but not on the menu at the other 2 but, they have it. They raised the price of the veggie max to $6 but, one of the subway's i go to lower it back to$5! YAY! I'll go to that one more now. There used to be a girl on this team that worked at subway & she said the patty was not vegan but ok for vegetarians.

I am not sure if this is a known fact but the veggie patty has eggs in it. I am a vegan and therefore veggie patty is out of question for me. I also checked about the dressings- sweet onion dressing(my fav) is eggless- i will post more as soon as I find my email Subway cust serv.

NFONT,

Anytime I go to subway they usually change their gloves after they make each sandwhich, but yea I would definately ask them to change their gloves. I don't want the taste of icky meat on my sandwhich

I didn't think that much of the veggie patty.

I like the veggie delite without it fine. Pretty healthy too if you get mustard instead of oil or mayo.

I always ask for clean gloves -- even during the lunch rush. I also ask them not to touch my sandwich with the knife they just cut the meat sandwiches with -- and they either go get a clean knife or do their best to fold mine over without using the knife. :)

I have been lucky that at the Subways I go to, the Sandwich Artists change their gloves after each customer.. but I also don't usually go during peak hours like lunch or dinner time when they may be too busy to think about changing gloves.

I have had mixed results when contacting Subway CHQ.. One time I got a quick and courteous response and one time I received no response at all. But it never hurts, especially on the website. Doesn't even need a stamp!

At the Subway near me, I noticed one day that they change their gloves after making every customer's order. They go through lots of gloves but it's sure better than cross contamination. Hope the gloves are biodegradeable.

The last time I went to Blimpe to get a veggie sub, I ordered a turkey sub and told them to hold the turkey on the side. Then I just got all the veggies on it that I wanted and threw away the turkey when I got my sub.

Fortunately, the one Subway I frequent doesn't charge extra for veggie subs or veggie burger patties. I guess since they are independently owned and operated, the policies may differ from one place to the next.

They have raised prices on EVERYTHING. I got a veggie delight meal deal on Saturday and my cost was something like $8.50! I used to pay around $7... ugh... I'm addicted to the veggie delight, though, and Subway is one of the few places I can go with the family to get decent take-out - otherwise I am stuck with sides from some rib joint...

Because Subways are a franchise business prices and selection vary. Around here they raised the price of the Veggie Delite to $5 and lowered the Veggie Max (pattie) to $6 dollars for no other reason than itís a better fit with the marketing plan.

I agree that the veggie pattie probably costs Subways more than the meat but certainly not $2 more each. Subway must get a better price wholesale than I get buying retail.

I don't go to Subways often enough to know how much anything there costs so I need to do some research to determine the exact impact. If it turns out the buzz about the $2 is accurate, I will have to decide what to do..

Is that $2 more than the veggie delight? The reason I ask is that the veggie delight is priced lower than the other subs, at least around here. So, they do actually charge for the meat.

It would not surprise me if the veggie patty costs Subway more than the meat. The veggie patty industry is not receiving a bunch of government subsidies.

That Stinks. I don't go there often but it was my backup plan.. always knew my daughter and I could get something to eat if we couldn't find anything else.

Simple economics. Get as much as possible from someone who NEEDS your product. I remember years ago I went to Blimpies and they didn't have a veggie sub. I asked how much it would be to make one for me and they wanted to charge the same thing for a veggie sub as they did for a Roast Beef sub. I asked them if it made sense to charge me that much for a sandwich made of things THEY GIVE AWAY FREE with other subs. They basically told me 'TOUGH'. Don't know if they have a veggie sub now because I never went back. And I will write to Subway and they them the same thing. I think we should all write to Subway Executives and let them know what we think..

When Subway came with Veggie patties, I was so thrilled. But now, I don't even feel like going to Subway anymore since they started charging $2 extra for the veggie patties. I don't understand this since they don't charge extra for meat!
