It's hard to manage because it's very at-odds with my current lifestyle, if that makes sense.

We tend to eat out way too much. Like, I almost never bring a lunch to work and grab take out or go to a restaurant. Often, if hubs & I are tired after work, we go out. Etc. I can't go to restaurants right now because a) I'm not totally sure of the questions I should ask and b) I've already been "stealth-glutened" at least once by a well meaning waiter ("Our corn tortillas are made with only corn flour!" OK, great. He didn't tell me they're cooked on a griddle with wheat flour tortillas and are therefore covered in wheat flour aka gluten)

I'm used to having a glass of wine or a beer many evenings. I can't drink beer any more (barley, therefore gluten), and a lot of wines are aged in barrels that are sealed with a flour/water paste, therefore gluten.

When we go to a movie, I tend to grab popcorn and red vines. Neither are gluten free.

On the other hand - cutting out restaurants, minimizing booze, and ditching movie sized candy containers is doing AMAZING things for my weight loss! I'm bringing a lunch to work now, I'm eating more veggies, etc. I'm also discovering how much I missed cooking, and I'm having fun experimenting with some of my old stand-by recipes to make them gluten free.

No worries, I will be more than happy to support you in all you do. Its not just you as you can see from the responses. No one here really wants to converse with each other in a team forum way so that will make it hard for this team to do well. But please stop by my page anytime for support or just to vent anytime you want. Just because the majority of people on this team are more active on other teams does not mean we can chat. I sure hope your new diet goes well. I don't know if I could do that. Are you finding it hard to manage? I gained 4 pounds over December with being sick, but I am dropping it now that I can get out and walk or go to the gym again!

Yeah, I realized how much I haven't participated here, so I'm trying to improve. Tough to expect you guys to encourage me if I just sit on my fanny, right? emoticon

How are things for me? Chaotic, as always! My new doc wants me to do a gluten free trial, which is tough but I've lost 7 lbs since I started, so I can't really complain! And, my eczema and headaches seem to be improving! Now I just need to get used to not having bread...

I did well on the calories, but not the exercise as I got pretty sick. Still ended up gaining over the month of Dec. so I am upping the calories and cardio and hopefully will see some results. I don't know. I'm sad to say this team really doesn't respond to or work with challenges so I am just going to continue with my other teams. I'm a bit disappointed, but what can you do? I've tried 2 challenges here to no avail. How are things going for you? How were the holiday's?

ok like you I didn't do super great on the calorie counting but I'd say each day over the weekend was close to 1500 calories.

Exercise for the weekend well, only if you count about 30 minutes of dancing at MrTom's Christmas Party. But I think I came in on the negitive side with a few glasses of wine.

Shoveling the sidewalk and driveway will be my exercise today

1314 calories
60 minutes of exercise!

Definitely may get to burn some calories if I get out and shovel all this snow!

I've been exercising every day, but I'm not doing very well with the calorie counting. I don't know if it's the cold weather, but I'm hungry ALL the time emoticon .

Will try to re-focus tomorrow!

Good luck everyone! I initially lost weight by tracking food. It definitely works. Now I'm learning intuitive eating, so I don't count calories anymore.

As we end the year with the month where we consume the most food I'd like to see everyone track their food as well as exercise. So for December I would like to challenge everyone on the team to list not only their exercise but also there calorie intake for the day. Lets make this a very healthy December
