I have a hard time throwing food away too but I was determined that I was not eating any more junk food anymore so all of my Christmas cookies that didn't get eaten got thrown in the trash. I've been tempted a couple of times to go buy junk but I'm determined not to do it!

I have a really hard time tossing foods, too.
Jester, you are so funny!!! Throwing it out would be enough, but then you spray it down. WOW! I love it! =P

I dump food, although since getting married and inheriting a teen boy, its not hard to get rid of junk food unless its food he doesn't like... Unfortunately it means I still have to buy some foods for him and I have a hard time resisting. Like JJ, I have been sure to render bad foods uneditable when tossing them to make sure I don't give in to a craving later.

I think it depends on finances...for me I would just throw everything away. Actually, when throwing away something yummy but bad for me I open the package, dump it out, then spray cleaning spray on it so that I don't give in to the temptation to go dig it out of the trash later. I just signed up for menus4moms.com and am using her program to give myself a list of healthy foods to make for the week. It includes a shopping list so I just bought what was on the list plus ingredients for green smoothies and breakfast. I got twice as many groceries for the same amount of money as what I normally buy too! The recipes are healthy and from scratch, and she includes the nutrition information on them to boot.

I have such a hard time throwing food away... that's a tough call! You could give it away, maybe donate anything unopened to a food pantry. I usually try to wait until my husband eats it, but I don't particularly like that option either!
I think that once it's gone, we just start making better decisions at the grocery store. If it's not in the house, it's that much easier!

I completely agree!!! Right now, I am trying to start fresh and clear out the cramp I did end up buying, or baking for that matter, lol. For the past year, I just caved into any craving I had... especially chocolate!
Would you just throw it all out to get rid of it, or wait till other people eat it?
XOXO,
Jen

I try not to buy anything that I shouldn't eat, or that I can't resist. Peanut butter, for instance... last week I bought 2 jars to make Christmas cookies. I had to buy an additional jar by the time I got to bake, because I had eaten one already!
It's easier to make good choices if I'm surrounded by healthy options. It's not foolproof, by any means, but it helps!
If I have to buy junk, I buy junk that I don't like. But for the most part, we don't need that stuff in the house anyway, and I'd prefer to delay DD getting a taste for it for as long as possible!

This is the part that's hardest for me. I see all the money I spent on "garbage" food, and now I have to spend more money on the good stuff. I know it's for the best! I need to get rid of these temptations that are surrounding me.
How did you guys handle this?
XOXO,
Jen
