Galina, I'm going to throw a party when I can put on my size 10 jeans again :) I hate it when size 2's complain about being fat, too.

I think what is really frustrating is knowing that I'm not just trying to take off 9 months of baby weight, but also the weight I gained after I got to a low of 200.6, plus the 40-50 lbs. I needed to lose before I got pregnant. It just seems like an overwhelming number of pounds, especially when my slow loser metabolism is only letting go of 1/2 pound a week!!!

We all have to remember it took us 9 months to put on the weight and extra skin and it's gonna take some time to get rid of it.

And if I heard right somewhere, the skin tightening back up takes longer than the weight loss..and for some (like myself) I will probably never see a flat belly without surgery, but honestly, I don't even care!

It's just gonna take time and patience..lol...two things most moms hate thinking about..hehehe.

As for those guilty pleasures...mmm, I had me a butterfinger yesterday and my gosh..it tasted awesome! Even better, I stayed in range!!!

A couple of my girlfriends gained like 20lb and lost all the baby weight in the first 4 month after pregnancy... How can you do that? It must be their genetics. The truth is I have not been really dieting or working out like crazy (neither have they) I want to fit into all of my cute clothing and dresses and sexy skirts...
Today one of them pissed me off (excuse my language) she was telling me how fat she is and she is size 2 -4! Hello, im size 10! How do you think that makes me feel when you complain about being size 4! I did not take a passive approach i did tell her to shut up and look at me.

Do not get me wrong, Im not down or depressed about my weight. I know i had a baby and it takes time. So im patient and now starting to work out and keep a daily log. So I hope soon i will see some results.

Spicytacoto,

Well, you came to the right place! Most of us have been there
(save for those freakish moms who gained 20 pounds and didn't look pregnant other than a little bump)! I had my baby in October 07 and I am just now getting serious about exercise. It just takes while. Be patient but some of that frustration can be channeled into action. Just don't beat yourself up about weight - life is too short!

Funny story...I went to my OB doc for an annual and I asked him about calories for weight loss and told him I was trying to loose those last round of baby pounds and he told me to forget about it. Ha! He said my BMI was 24 and we tend to hover around 23-24. Any less than that I am going to have to work my butt off and go to extremes. Then he gave me a magazine for mid-life women. I am 32! HA! I love him but it made me laugh.

It is going to be hard...and that is OK.

Spicytacoto,

It will be okay dear. I completely know how you feel. I gained 69 pounds during my recent pregnancy. My self-esteem has bottomed out ever since. I weigh 174.8 right now and I want to be 135. It's really hard to look in the mirror. I hate being naked, which doesn't make intimacy very easy. I don't think I'm pretty anymore and few clothes fit proper. Yet I'm not depressed and I find the strength to exercise every day, play with my newborn, and smile for my husband.

In my opinion, it's good to have a cry every now and again. I'd love to have one right now but hubbie is home, he wouldn't understand, and my little one should be waking soon to nurse. I have to be strong for him...

I'm just hear to get this out and off my chest because I'm so upset with myself. My son was born in Oct 07 and I have been struggling to lose all the weight I gained during my pregnancy with him (70lbs total). I was hovering in the mid-180's for the longest time and in early winter was down in the low 180's. Over the past few months, despite my resolve to kick it into high gear, and despite the fact that we're starting to try for #2 now and I desperately wanted to be close/at my original weight (160), and instead I'm now back up to 193.

I want to cry. But instead I'm here, trying once again. It seems that's all I ever do...fail, and start over.

I've been there,I know how you feel BECKYJO459. For the first 6 weeks of my babys life I felt like all i did was feed the baby. I couldn't even take a shower without my husband running in and saying "the baby is crying, I think she wants to eat." All I wanted was a few minutes of not having something attached to me. I had a real hard time breast feeding. There were so many times when I wanted to quit. You have to tell yourself it will get better. I know you can't see the end right now, but your baby will get older and there will come a day when he or she won't want to breastfeed at all and you'll look back at these days and miss it when all you had to do was hold he or she.

If you want to talk more just shot me an email.

Vent:

I was at 195 up until 9 months after Penny (now 2) was born. It just scares me to be hitting a plateau right now at this weight (Cassie was born 4/25). And I'm starting to resent breastfeeding. She nurses about once an hour during the day, and every 2 1/2 hours at night. And she won't go to sleep unless she is nursing. Its so exhausting. And now my husband is telling me that I can't eat this or that because he thinks it is making her gassy. And the things he is telling me not to eat are the healthy things I am substituting for other foods. Its like as long as I nurse, I'm condemned to be fat. And when I do make time for myself to go to the gym, I come back to a screaming baby and an upset husband. I have to rush through my shower, or nurse her straight away.

At the same time, she pretty much refuses the bottle so its not like I have an easy alternative. I'm sure I could fight with her til she just gives in and takes a bottle...

I feel like all I do is sit on the couch nursing the baby, and telling my 2 year old every other minute that I can't play with her or that she needs to ask Daddy to get her juice because I can't right now.

My treat to myself every day is a fountain Diet Coke from McDonalds (usually one on the way to work). Yesterday I had NO backbone, and had meetings ALL over town. I drove thru McDonalds several times for drinks, and TWICE I caved in and bought cookies. What was I thinking??? So total, I ate 6 Chocolate Chip cookies. My excuse, I am having my period. I know, so lame. That's my confession...............

I have an off topic question well kinda? Has anyone noticed that after the birth of your baby, that your periods are like a million times worse. Well not the actually period, but the PMS. Oh god kill me. For literally a week before, of course I am queen of bitchyness and so tired, lazy almost and I get this huge appetite. Where I normally eat 1600-1700calories a day and feel good, I can eat up to 2300 calories and still not feel satisfied. Its probably more, I get frustrated and stop counting. I did this from sun-wed and here it is thurs and my hunger seems to be getting back to normal. But this is crazy. I don't know what to do, it drives me crazy. Any advice? Is there a way to beat this hunger problem and also if anyone knows why does this happen. I talked to 2 of my gf's who have kids and they say the same thing..Its so incredibly frustrating.

So, how did it go Melissa? Did you get a new scale? I know what you mean about the obsession with the scale. It's hard not to step on it every time you walk by it but try to stick to once a week!

I don't own a bathroom scale and never have because I know I will become obsessed with my weight. Although, I have never had to lose weight before. Today is the day I will purchase a bathroom scale...I'm nervous and excited at the same time!

Okay, let's get you back on track. What seems to be the problem? You were definitely doing a great job w/ your working out. What about your eating? Are you tracking your food on the nutrition tracker? What's your calorie range? What kind of foods are you eating?

We can fix this!!

Beth, isn't that the way it always works? LOL! I think it's to keep us moms on our toes. Just try to work through it and DON'T let it stress you out. I think stress just keeps the weight on your body. Maybe while this is going on you can just do a yoga DVD and keep the stress at bay.

Today I have a confession...I had a big ol' gourmet cupcake!! My son & I had a "mommy & me" outing, which included checking out a place we keep passing called "Cupcake Craving" and OMG - that place is Dangerous! LOL! Here's a link to give you an idea...
www.cupcakecraving.com/
It is definitely a place that you only go to once in a GREAT while!!

On the plus side, I had a salad for lunch because I knew we were going there!!

Argh! Why is it that just as soon as I start getting really active, life gets in the way? Right now my daughter is teething. I think. I hope. Well, for some reason she is just miserable, not sleeping and just generally in a bad mood. She doesn't want to be on the floor OR in her chair or even really held. Yet, I see no actual teeth, soooo.... I guess I was lucky with my son, his came in early and quickly. Argh! I can't get anything done. Also, of course, it has turned rainy and cold again here on the east coast, so even a walk is out of the question.

Ok, well, I just needed to vent I guess. I hope this phase is over soon.

No worries, I totally understand! I'm struggling too... especially since I'm always out of time. When it gets down to it, it's just a lot of planning, which is good cuz you're never unsure about anything. As for the working out, just try incorporating a walk to the market or something. Mowing the lawn just kicked my butt this weekend emoticon

No matter what, just keep with it, if not for you, then your family and their future :) Best of luck!

Okay... I've decided that weekends are evil... Why is it that during the week I can plan healthy meals, stay away from the snacks and make sure I'm active, but as soon as Saturday rolls around, I magically find the junk food, get roped into eating out, and feel free to stick my butt on the couch all day?? This is not cool and won't happen again next weekend!!

Oh, I am having such a hard time with my foods. I feel like I have no self control what so ever. Right now I am staying at home with my baby, but I do return to work next week. I anticipate it being a little easier there, as I won't have the food just readily available, and what is available will be what I take, so if I take healthy snacks, then I will make healthy choices. But, I just feel so horrible about the way I have allowed myself to eat these last 7 months. I know I have created habits that are going to take forever to undo. I feel like I don't have the will power to follow any kind of diet. I always get down in the dumps when I grocery shop, because to eat healthy foods it's more expensive, and money is always an issue for my family. I end up eating cheap hot dog dinners or other really bad for you type things cause that's whats affordable. I know that I have to change this. Once I return to work I am going to be sure to budget enough to ensure that I can buy the foods I need to get healthy. Not only will I loose weight, but I imagine I will feel better because I won't be eating that crap! Exercise is something that I haven't been too keen on lately. But, I got a wii fit, and it makes me want to exercise a bit more. Though, I am so tired all the time (due to no sleep, my son is sick right now). I just can't seem to force myself to exercise. Boy, I really am a mess aren't I? I promise I am not always such a downer, just right now I am on a little pity party or something...

Life is what you make of it!

My downfall today was Hershey's Kisses. I donated $1 to people w/ disabilities at the grocery store and they gave me a little bag of kisses. When I added them to my food tracker, they are what put me in the middle of my calorie range instead of right at the bottom of it. Oh well, at least I was still IN the range!! And the kisses were a yummy little treat!! LOL!!

I feel like I have lost who I was before this recent pregnancy. I had so much control, never gave in. Now all I do is give in. Then beat myself up for it afterwards. I feel like I am spinning out of control. I know I have control but I feel like I just am so tired that I dont care. EMotional eating sucks. With a newborn I am so tired that I look to sweet to try to give me a boost. (It dont work and I know that) Dont get me wrong I eat lots of good things but its usually the end of the day/very early morning that I eat a pbj sandwich and a cup of milk, and Easter candy! I just want to stop, I want to drop this dang baby weight!...I dont even think I eat enough cals...I am EBF and still am trying to eat what I did during pregnancy (1500 cals). I hate feeling this way. It scares me.

Argh! Why oh why...I messed up today and at a bunch of junk in the morning. I just did my nutrition tracker for today and I think I can salvage the day with a light dinner and no more snacks, but why did I do it? Probably because it is cold and raining and I am stuck in the house with a sick 4yo and the baby...

Ok, I messed up, but I am working on fixing it, starting...now...

BTW, my husband loves to buy junk food and only eat a little of it and leave the rest in the cabinet to stare at me every day...I think I will start to hide it or throw it away if he doesn't eat it...he's also annoyingly thin...(but I love him)

Lisa, I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from. My hubby constantly tells me that I'm beautiful and I just don't know how he can say that! But you know what? It doesn't matter what they see - just the fact that they think that about us is all that matters. We need to use that to push us forward. I WANT to be as beautiful as my hubby thinks I am and I know you feel the same. It sounds like you and I suffer from the same problem - negative self-speak. I know I need to do a much better job of being nice to myself and I've been thinking of starting a thread about that exact subject. If I do, I hope you'll post to it!! In the meantime, hang in there and do whatever you can to get back in shape!

CG0910, from what I understand, you go back to work in 3 weeks but you still have 6 months to get back into your weight standard, is that correct? Come on, I know you can do it! It's not going to be easy and it might even be painful but you can do it!! Do you have a stroller for your little one? If nothing else, you can get out and start walking, even if it's s-l-o-w-l-y. Check w/ your dr. and find out what other stuff you can do. You definitely don't want to overdo it because that will set you back even further. I'm pretty sure I saw some exercises on Babyfit that you can do before your 6-week mark. I will track them down and post them for you.

i just had my son 3 weeks ago and i understand its pretty soon to worry about weight loss but im currently in the marine corps and on maternity leave. we are given 6 months for two things. to be back within weight standards and to pass a pft. a pft consists of a 3mile run under 30min, an arm hang(being able to hang with ur head above a pull up bar) and 100 crunches in 1 1/2 minutes. i had my son natural or not by c section but he did tear me a bit so i have stitches. and i gained 56 pounds during my pregnancy!!!! i dont know what i can do really to workout except arm exercises. my son takes up most of my time and cardio is not happening because the stitches still hurt. it doesnt help that i honestly do put pressure on my self because as a woman in the military we're already at a disadvantage and have to prove ourselves and being overweight doesnt help. =( i have 3 more weeks of maternity leave and i dont want to go back to work overweight. also did i mention if u dont meet the weight or physical fitness standards ur put on bcp. i dont remember what it stands for but u have 2 workouts a day, morning and evening, weigh-ins on monday mornings, and a pft every saturday. which would take away from the time i have to be with my son. i just dont know what to do....

This would be a HUGE VENT! Sorry I really don't post much but I need to start to get more motivated!

First off...I also gained about 55 pounds during my pregnancy...right now I'm about 32 pounds from being my pre-pregnancy weight!

I am so self-conscious about myself. My husband is a radio dj and today he had some new artist girl come in and I saw her picture from when she was there....she is sooo super skinny and pretty and was wearing a short skirt & tight top...ahhhh! Also to top it off he has to go to a live broadcast at a apartment place "pool party" with a of the reality show stars from the Real World on MTV.

I have no doubt he would ever cheat on me...and he tells me all the time he loves me and don't worry..he thinks I'm beautiful....but really all I can feel is just horrible about myself...it's sooo hard to eat healthy and exercise and I know I have a lot of work to do to get where I want to be...in the meantime....I just get so depressed and mad at myself for not working harder...I know if I looked better I wouldn't be as jealous of him seeing girls that are skinny...ahhhhh sorry..I'm just soo frustrated....end of vent..

Lisa

Oh Sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I can understand why losing weight hasn't been a priority. Hope you are doing well.

I gained 54 pounds while pregnant. I have only lost 12 pounds in 10 months! Ok, so I haven't been trying hard and just recently stopped nursing so I can actually eat less now. I am just frustrated I let myself gain so much and didn't start working out again right away. Ugh...I wanted to look good by my little girl's first birthday! I was going to start working out March 1st but my mother died and I decided to emotionally eat instead. Time to stop.

Oh, sweetie, only 6 weeks!?! Relax and give your body time to heal while you and your new sweet little baby get to know each other! "They" say "nine months on, nine months off". Don't start stressing out now...take it slow and easy.

Oh, I can SO totally relate to that! LOL! I bought a bag of Craisins trail mix thinking that it would be good to take a serving of it to work for a snack. Uh, yeah, I opened it on the week-end and ate it in ONE SITTING!! It was something like 900 calories!!

I see no one has vented in a while, but I needed to come on and say ARGH! I just ate a ton of trail mix. Do you know how many calories are in trail mix? And the serving size is tiny, I must have eaten 3 or 4 servings.

This is what happens the day before I go to the grocery store and there is absolutely nothing in my house.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day. And hey, at least is has some nutritional value.

Yep, it's definitely an eye opener, isn't it!?! LOL! Don't cut back too much though...make sure you're adding your 500 calories for nursing to SP's suggested calorie range!

My current struggles are bad joint pain (especially in my knees and ankles due to Lupus flare ups) and finding a balance between family, exercise, sleep, cooking, and cleaning. Work was hectic this week causing me to leave each night at about 5:15 coupled with a baby that wanted to wake up every hour and a half. I want to get up early each day to work out, but when the alarm goes off at 4:30 after getting little sleep it just doesn't happen. Hopefully the little one will sleep more this week and with the week off I'll be able to find time to do work out and finally clean my beyond filthy house.

Goals: To increase healthy eating and exercise habits from 30% to at least 71%

Objectives:
Use Wii/Wii Fit for at least 30 min or walk at least 30 min 6 of 7 days per week for 30 days.

Track foods daily with 100% accuracy for at least 20 days

I know, snacking is tough, especially when there's yummy stuff around to snack on!! The best approach for me has been to eat 5-6 meals a day, which means you're eating every couple of hours. If you plan what you're going to eat in advance, you don't end up eating stuff you shouldn't. It works pretty good for me! Hope that helped...and WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

Hey Courtney!! Work is going okay, it's just hard rushing from home to daycare to work and then back again at the end of the day. Doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. Hubby was out of town for work this week but he is back now so he will take the kids in and pick them up today and Monday. At least that helps out a little bit!! Glad to hear things are settling down for you! Are you getting excited about your move?

I have a HUGE confession to make...I had ICE CREAM for lunch yesterday!!
emoticon
We got it for our boss for Boss' Day and, well, you know, I HAD to join in...it was a team activity!! Man, it was so good! But I am back to eating healthy today.

Hope you have a great day!

Wow, moving AND going back to work at the same time? I would say you definitely have a lot going on right now! My only suggestion would be to try not to get too stressed out. It's going to be hard but whenever you feel yourself getting stressed, stop and take a coupel of deep breaths. Hang in there...it will be over before you know it!!

Glad to hear the baby's okay. Don't beat yourself up over the food choices. In those situations, the only important thing is that you eat SOMETHING to keep yourself going.

Today is my 2nd day in a row without working out.

Confession of the day:

Baby was very sick this morning (high fever, wheezing, etc) so I grabbed a Coke and a slice of cold pizza on my way to the ER and had them for breakfast. Yowza.

He's ok, by the way - just a BAD cold. His fever hit 101.6 and I decided better safe than sorry.

Yikes! It's hard enough trying to lose weight without someone reminding you every day!! Hmmm...maybe you can try to find some kind of snappy, POSITIVE response that will help you stay upbeat about it. I'll have to think on that one. I'll let you know if I think of anything! In the meantime, try not to let it get to you. You've done awesome on your weight loss...keep up the momentum!!

I'm in the military, so there's a lot of pressure on me to lose all my baby weight immediately.

I'm only 4 1/2 months out and I'm down to 162 from 210, so I've lost a lot of weight, but every single day someone makes a comment about how big I am and how my uniform makes me look fat.

It hurts my feelings, and it really pisses me off because I have a big chest (I'm breastfeeding) and big hips, so I look bigger in uniform than I really am.

I'm just sick of hearing how fat I am... ugh.

well my kids have been doing pageants since before they could walk but when they get old enough to tell me they don't want to do them any more then they don't have to do them but it takes a lot of practice and a lot of time with the hair and the make up finding dresses and sports ware outfits so it take a lot of prep before the pageant and the day of but its great i done them all my life and i was blessed with 2 girls so that they can do it but when it is not fun for the girls any more then they don't have to do it. Do you have girls?

Going back to work has been "okay". It's just hard having so little time between getting home and going to bed. I have a feeling I'm going to have to start cutting back on my time on the computer. Bummer!

Congrats on your girls' pageant results! That's awesome! Are they excited about the State pageant? Do they have to do a lot of prep for those?

No worries Courtney i hear breaking the diet at least once a week is actually good for your system i think they said it confuses your body and makes your metabolism work harder or something like that and no worries i really bad last week and a slice of cake twice last week and i only ate half of it but still i was bad lol it was my birthday though so i feel like it was still worth it even though i think my body is mad at me for it i think the sugar caught up with me i was very tired and sluggish this week. emoticon emoticon

Yeah i do a lot of cardio i normally do 25-30 minutes of it the i go to the ab room I'll do sit-up on the ball 2-3 set of 15 reps then I'll do back extensions on the ball about the same amount as i would sit up and i guess its called a roman chair i use that as well where your legs are hanging and you pull them up to your chest I'll normally do leg weights one day the arm weights the next. Its just my stomach i am worried about though a bit more calf muscle would be nice. I'm told working the big muscles such as the arms, legs and back helps the extra skin and fat on the stomach. emoticon I probably need to do some more strength training i hit a few machines but i could probably do a few more but like i said i just want my tummy to look...some what normal

Hey Ali, I agree with Courtney, you have done awesome so far! I know that doesn't help when you're still not happy with your body but still, look at how far you've come!!

What are you doing for your workout? It sounds like you're doing a lot of cardio but what about weights? Are you doing any lifting at all? That will definitely help you get your body in shape.

Keep up the hard work and never give up!!

Thanks Courtney I really appreciate it. You ever have those kind of days? Bleh!! I'm gonna head up to the gym in about an hour and today i will take my mp3 i have not taken that with me in a while. I just hate feeling like that it like at least once or twice a week i have a "down in the dumps" day.

I feel more depressed lately and i have been really been beating myself up about they way i look. When we got to the hotel on my birthday i was changing to get ready for a dinner and concert and i soon as i lifted my shirt i just broke down in tears. emoticon
I'm happy I have lost weight but my tummy still looks like a train wreck and i still have some hang around the edges and it just bothers me. I feel like i will never get rid of it and i hate looking in the mirror it just breaks my heart. I cried on my birthday i couldn't believe it, I was suppose to be happy that day. I feel like i am going into this giving up mode I feel tired and have hardly wanted to do anything and i am so ashamed of myself for it, emoticon

Because it is bothering me I ate 2 chex mix turtle bars...and a bunch of sixlets...I need to not keep that chocolate in the house it is bad. ARG! I wish it would go away!

When I loose:

10lbs: Get a new hair cut

15lbs: Pedicure

25lbs: Get a massage

35lbs: Get a sexy outfit

40lbs: Night out with hubby in sexy outfit

45lbs: Have a glass of wine in a fancy bar.

50lbs: Get new clothes

Here is my vent for today!!!! I got up late and had to get the kids off to my aunts because i had to be in court with the oldest daughters dad(child support. I did not get out of court til 11:00 and i got there at 8:00, then i had to go get the kids give my youngest daughter a nap when she got up i had to go to the gro. store, when i got home i had to cook dinner feed the kids and give them a bath while my husband was sitting on the couch playing the x-box 360. Finally at 6:45 i got to go and walk and get some of my frustration out. How was everyone Else's day better than mine i hope. emoticon

Sorry to hear about the 2 pounds. Was it possibly that time of the month? Hopefully you can blame it on that! Hang in there...you'll start to see the scale moving in the right direction!!

Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Maybe you added some muscle. Hot fudge sundays are my fav Its ok to have something like that every now and aging you have t have rewards sometimes or what's the use of doing something good and not rewarding yourself for it. YOu deserve a treat every now and aging. Good luck to the both of you. emoticon

I hate to be the first person to vent, but ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH! Got on the scale today (weigh-in wednesday) and I was +2!!! PLUS 2! What the _____? I have no idea what's going on, but one things for SURE I'm getting my butt moving. Last week I was -1.5 and sooooo happy. I was exactly 10 pounds from my goal weight and was floating on air! The scale is NOT supposed to go in that direction and it will stop NOW.

I "borrowed" this from another team I'm on...hope they don't mind!

Post here if you have a confession to make ("Oh no I just ate a hot fudge sundae!). Let us know if you're struggling and need some extra love and support. Or just feel free to vent and tell us about a bad day.
