3oz with skin is "one banana" when counting fruits. It isn't a lot so I tend not to choose bananas as one of my 2 fruits a day.

I like any apple that is hard and sweet. On my exchange plan one apple = 4 oz, so a "normal" sized apple is really two fruits, and I only get two fruits per day unless I want to spend one of my 3 bonus selections on fruit.

my freezer is full of the applesauce I've made with apples from my friend's trees. I make the applesauce with the peel and with no sugar so it couldn't possibly be healthier.

I like to pull the leaves off and dip them in dressing (I use sweetened buttermilk). It's a lot of work, though, to trim the tips and cook them.

I don't know if that is a cup of cooked or dry barley, but a cup of dry barley makes a LOT of barley. I use it in cold weather soups. I love the way it creams up the liquid. It has gluten which makes it a problem for celiac patients, but I have always loved barley.

One cup of dry rice is a LOT of cooked rice. 1/2 cup cooked usually comes to about 3/4 oz dry, which equals one bread exchange. Which in this case is one serving.
