Hi Shirley, I am in Edmonton, AB, Canada and it is in the high 60's and low 70's. Love on the forth floor of a high rise with a 8 ft wide sliding glass window on to the balcony. Moved to this town because it was economical and found to my surprise a thriving arts community. Have gone to Eartha Kitt concert and booked tickets for Yo Yo Ma concert, but missed tickets for Bon Jovi.

It's hot and humid here in So. Florida, in the 90s most of the time. Since hurricane season started June 1, we have had showers almost every afternoon. I Just stay in the air conditioned house most of the time, hybernating I guess you would call it.
I miss my Silver Sneakers classes. The coordinator is no longer with the gym and we have been showing up for class and there is no instructor. Then the gym has been sold and a new gym is being built. They are in the transition period right now. The new gym should be open any day and Silver Sneakers will resume.
In the meantime, I just have my walks in the morning and evening. I went to a series of Active Outlook classes on Diet nutrition and exercise. Then there was a class on Steps, a Silver Sneakers program of walking. We each received a pedometer and information about joining. I joined right away and am waiting for my packet with the conversion chart so I can count other exercise and convert it to steps. There are contests and prizes too. Beginning July 1, there is a contest about walking around Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. They show a map of Hawaii and will show how far you walked each time you log in and show scenes of Hawaii wherever you are that day. I'm looking forward to getting started. My daughter lived in Honolulu for over 20 years and I used to go to visit her every other year, so it will be like old home week for me. If any of you belong to Humana, check into the SilverSneakers Steps program. Shirley
I am 76, too. Birthday in December. So glad to hear from you. How much weight are you trying to lose? My realistic aim is 10 pounds and figure it will take me at least 3 months. It would be nice to have lost 15 pounds by mid November when I plan to go back to China for a visit, but I am not optimistic. It is hard for me to make new habits. I am told that having breakfast is good, but I can't face anything before noon. (I often don't get up early, anyway.)
Hi! I am a new member. I don't know quite how to start. This is the first time I'm posting a message. I'm 76 years old, I have no children. I am tired of trying to lose weight by myself. I have been married for 56 years.
It is a long time since I have been camping, but used to go with the 4 kids and hubby to Belton Lake in Texas. Loved cooking out and fishing though there you had to keep a look out for snakes. Imiss it all. Love to hear from you, Grandma Mattie.

Hi, I 've logged in every night, but I have had trouble with my e-mail service or maybe it is the Sparkpeople web site. I have to log in every time I try to retrieve my Sparkpoints. I get error messages that they hav to close down and I have to open the messages again. It take so long that I don't have time to check the team message board. Sorry about that. Shirley
This silver sneakers [seniors] in my opinion is getting to many spin off's. Not sure who started it.But instead of clicking"new topic".Just click repley and then everyone will be on the same page. Easier to find if they are all to gether.Don't mean to but in.
