I've been alternating turbo jam or turbo fire in with my Combat, since I cannot do the HIIT in Combat yet without causing myself a lot of pain.

If you go to the message boards on beachbody there are people who will post different ways to use the workouts. Even with other beachbody workouts.

Thus far I've done the Beginner 4 week schedule. I'm in week four now. I'm just wondering how I should continue on, or if it even matters how I do it, as long as I do it. emoticon

Hey Gina! Honestly, I'm not sure that I did follow the schedule when I did Turbo Jam... I now that's bad but it was my 1st Beachbody program and I was just hoping to be able to get through any of the workouts. I checked online and saw that there is the beginner schedule for the 4 weeks and an advanced schedule for 4 weeks. I'm not sure which you are doing but that might be something to look at. I think I just did whichever workouts fit in my personal schedule and I just did them until I felt confident to try a new program. Seems silly now that I think about it but that's how it went. I feel like I learn things later in the game after I've screwed up too many times on my own. Can't say that Turbo Jam was a screw up. Still love that workout after all these years. I also had the live DVDs and I eventually got the On The Ball workouts as well to add more workouts and shake it up. Let me know what your thinking! I'm curious!

How did you guys come up with a schedule for month 2 of TJ? Did you repeat the first month over and over? I'm just curious because I'm starting my 4th week and want to make sure I'm ready for week 5. Any advice is appreciated emoticon

A week in and Insanity is still tough!! Whew but I'm hoping that I'm getting in better shape. I'm so proud of the bf for still getting up and getting it done with me. Even today we had to get up at 5:30am to squeeze it in since I had an early meeting at work. He's champing it out and since the is the 1st time he's really worked out at least in the last year and a half I've known him, I'm proud of him.

I like the non-coach reviews too. Sometimes I wonder if they say the love something just to sell. I know that's not the intention per-say but who would ever say something bad about the product they sell? I do love the help with the eating. That's where I always fall short.

I'm giving Insanity a try now. Figured I'd get bf working out with me if we get up early together and try it. I did today alone (since I didn't seem to give him enough notice that we were going to start) and it was tough! I think that you can only get fitter doing that crazy workout. It really is Insane.

Wow great information. I am not a coach either, a really close friend of mine is though, and she is my coach and she is pretty awesome! I like hearing non-coach reviews though since there is no I'm going to get a sale out of it behind the response. I really need help with the eating portion, I do really well for a few days then I fall down hill again. It's a never ending cycle for me.

I have not done the T25 but I did do the 21 Day Fix. I'm not going to lie, I really like that program. And it's mostly the nutrition part that I like. I got my color coded containers and she tells me what types of food to fill them with and how much and tada, it's simple. There's lists of preferred foods like better for you veggies, fruits, proteins, carbs, and healthy fats and you can pick and choose. It's all your own foods and you can eat the things that you like. The workouts that come with it are a half hour each and it covers all 7 days. No rest days but you have a pilates day and a yoga day so it's not all high impact. I had doubted the workouts, thinking they would be easy-peasy since this fix was more about the nutrition but boy was I wrong. I sweat like a champ and have sore muscles afterwards. If you are interested, I did blog about my short little journey (a whole 21 days.). I still use the containers and try to basically stick with the plan because it is that smart. Next week though, I'm going back to it full tilt. This week has been terrible and I feel yucky and bloated and I've been fighting a dull headache for 2 days. Basically, I wouldn't say get the 21 Day Fix for the workouts, but I would say get it for the nutrition if that's what you need help with. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. I'm not a beachbody coach and I have nothing to gain. And I did not use Shakeoloy with it. I don't like the way i feel when my body adjusts to it. After 21 days, I lost 5lbs and 3.5". Not bad at all.

Yeah the Pylo isn't quite my thing either, but I love the Combat portion, I suck at the HIIT videos, but I hope I get better.

I do love this set, but I think I will probably stick with the ones that are not as hard on my back from now on, like the cardio ones (jam / fire / hip hop abs), etc. I'm interested in the T25 and the new 21-day fix or whatever it is called. Have either of you done those two?

I've taken a couple of Piyo classes at the gym and, well, they aren't exactly my style. And I'm in the same boat with knowing they'll be expensive. It would have to be a good workout, but I'm just not 100%.

As for next week, I have to get back on track. This week has been so bad food-wise. I know I've back on a couple of those frivolous pounds that should come back off when I start eating better. My mother left me so much un-healthy food from the weekend and I've been eating it since I've had it and didn't want it to go to waste. By the weekend whatever is left should be bad and I can start eating healthy again. So the goals are to eat right! My food is my biggest problem anyway. Always a work in progress.

How bout your goals?

I'm also wondering about the new Piyo workout. Just not sure I'm totally into that type of workout to purchase it. They are always so expensive!

baby steps, all we can do. And yeah back surgery has a pretty long recovery time. Not sure I am mentally prepared for that kind of time off.

So what are your goals for the coming week?

There you go! Sounds like you have this pretty much worked out. I don't think I'd be looking forward to a back surgery either. While you'd be able to do things with less pain, it would still take plenty of time for recovery. Then you say you'd have to do it again in 10 years? That's no fun. Good for you on working the strength up. I'm very impressed!

Baby steps, there will always been some pain until I decide to actually have surgery, but since the pain is few and far between because I've learned what I can and cannot do, I'm not going to have surgery yet. I will put it off as long as I can, because once I have it, I will have to do it again in 10 years.

The stronger I get my back and core, and if I keep up with my chiropractic appointments, keeping my spine straight, the less likely the disk is going to shift and rub on my spinal column. So woohoo to getting stronger!

I've been doing these programs for so long. It's just so much easier working out at home sometimes. Either turbo along with combat sounds like it will be killer! Go for it.

Sorry to hear the back injury is keeping you down still. I'm sure you'll get the strength you need soon.

ooooh you are definitely an expert at these videos then. Yeah I think I'm going to mix in some of my turbo jam or fire with the Combat, since I really cannot do the HIIT videos yet. Getting down and doing burpees and such is too much for my back still. I need to get some more strength there with my back injury before I ever master that.

Oh geeze, I have done so many Beachbody programs. I've done Turbo Jam, TurboFire, Chalean Extreme. I did 1 round of P90X. I have mixed in the workouts of Hip Hop Abs and Rockin' Body. I have just finished the 21 Day Fix. I can also do 3 of the Insanity workouts on the XBox1 which really make me want the whole program. I have to say that I love Chalene workouts. They kick my butt and are always my go-to.

You've got this! I have a workout planned for this evening but I wanted to do a little extra cardio this morning. Sadly, I have been super tired this week and chose to stay in bed. I need to start getting up and doing something before work. That's what helps start my day.

The Combat series id definitely a challenge for me. i haven't done it in a few days, but I need to get back on track and stop letting things derail me. What other series have you done besides Turbo Jam? I have Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, Hip Hop Abs and Combat.

Great thanks! I might look into getting that program. Always depends on finances. Same thing goes with Chalene's new PiYo release. Not sure about how I feel on that one.

The combat videos are tough...at least for me, but I enjoy them. The HIIT videos are what kick my butt though. The Combat 30 and 60 videos are the ones I like most. Talk about a great workout in 30 or 60 minutes, and a full body work out at that!
The one lady instructor in the videos I find silly because she winks at you a lot, but I think there is always someone cheesy in workout videos. I think you would enjoy them.

My gym offers a class as well I've been wanting to check out, I just never seem to get there in time. lol

Hey CHRIMSONFYRE - are you doing the body combat DVDs? I took a couple classes at the gym and LOVE the class. Sadly my schedule has changed and I won't be able to make it to class anymore. I was wondering how the videos are. Sounds tough. But are they fun and will they eventually get boring? I know they say at the gym that they keep having releases and stuff bringing in new songs and moves. I always loved the Chalene videos and still do them years later so if Body Combat is anything like that, I might consider ordering them.

Hey There! I just read down a bit and saw that you were interested in the 21 Day Fix. I just finished up 21 days and totally recommend it for anyone who has problems figuring out the right things and portions to eat. I lost 5lbs in 3 weeks but my body has changed so much. I wrote up some blogs about it to keep me accountable and to give some reviews for anyone else interested. It's something like $60 if you get it without the Shakeology (which is the route I went) and while it's simple it's effective. I have been having people ask what I've been doing for last 2 weeks. I am not a coach so I'm not trying to sell you anything, but just giving my opinion. I have a lunch bag filled with little containers right now and it's going to be easy enough to make as a lasting meal plan. Just something to think about.

Keep up the great workouts!

Listen to your body, you will know what you can do or not do each day.
Make sure you are drinking enough water on workout days, I found I was getting headaches, well I wasn't drinking enough water. I'm so bad at that!
I'm still struggling with my motivation, not sure why, it's just too easy to come home and cook dinner and plop on my booty.

Baby steps are good :) Great job on the water!

I've been hanging in there with my workouts. Yesterday I really did not want to do what I had planned, so I changed it to Cardio Party Remix. Ate really well too, so I was happy. I'm feeling very achy and have a headache today so I will most likely work out tomorrow instead of today.

I ate well yesterday until dinner, then I ate a slice of pizza :(
Water intake was better yesterday. I walked on my lunch break and when I got up, but I did not make it to the gym.

You?

Hope everyone had a great Monday.
I'm into day 10 of a new me. I got in 3 workouts last week, it's now where I want to be, but it's better than the week before. So far the cutting out of dairy and wheat is going mostly well so far, I didn't think about it and slipped up with some cheese on my salad...oops.

I might be buying the 21 day fix from beach body today. If I do I will let you guys know what it comes with.

QTLADY, that's a great idea, I never thought of checking out beachbody. I like to just draw a calendar on paper and fill in the workout I want to do for each day, takes a little planning at the beginning of the month, but that way I stay interested. I put a sticker in the box with the workout once I've done it. :)

My only prob is that I get bored w the videos after awhile. Try to change them up but still know what's coming. I have been doing cardio party 2 for variety. But I like the shorter one lol. ( 20 min) so it's hard to stay motivated for me just out of boredom I guess.

Hi MMoussig, welcome. Have you checked out the teambeachbody website? I know that I found an integration of several programs when I searched on their boards. I think I remember seeing one before for TJ and TF. I have TF too but I know I'm not up to that level quite yet. I had to start over with working out small and simple after recovering from a broken ankle! But it's a great program too!

Hi all! I'm new to this board, but have been doing Turbo Jam for about 2 months. I recently ordered the Turbo Fire videos, as well as every other Turbo Jam video (lower body, 3T, etc.) I could find, so that I could have more variety. I've poked around to try to find some calendars that incorporate the extra videos, but haven't had much luck. I am not at all imaginative when it comes to these things, and so if I don't have a schedule, I'll get confused and just give up and ignore my new videos.

Any help will be much appreciated. :)

Hi all :) I was very active on the TJ boards when I first started SP in 2008, then I dropped off when I was maintaining, active after the first baby, dropped off, and now after baby number two, I'm back! LOL I've been on SP so long almost all of my friends have become inactive so I'm looking to strike up some new friendships to help me get back on track along the way. Happy Jamming! :)

I started back to working out on Jan 5, but started slow with Slim in 6. Trying to work up to Turbo Jam because it is my FAV! Last week I wanted to do the 20 min TJ because I was itching to "dance" and I forgot that I had loaned it to a friend :( So I actually did Cardio Party Remix and I made it through! Can't wait to get back into TJ full time!

I like that they show different levels of difficulty. Mindy and Anna-Rita show low impact, most of the cast shows the workout, and then Janelle seems to add extra high impact to the workouts.

So this is a daily general discussion board, and yet hasn't been posted on since May?

Let's get this party started! :)

We'll start off with something very simple: What do you love MOST about these videos? The music? The hostess? The workout? The level of difficulty? Please share with the group, and lets get this thread back to a daily one!

I started Turbo Jam in 2009 on and off. In 2010 I joined Spark People for the first time and combining the two programs helped me stay on track and I lost the weight I was trying to very quickly. I have since moved and changed jobs a number of times as well as graduated college. I'm now a Registered Nurse working night shift and found within the past two years I had lost time, energy, and motivation to work out. My weight began to climb and I got back up to my heaviest. I began working out with Turbo Jam again and just recently re signed into Spark People. I finally bought a scale this week so I can REALLY track my progress and now I can see the results. I recommend Turbo Jam and Spark People to everyone! :-) The hardest part isn't the working out, nor is it the eating healthy, it's continuing to do so and staying on track.

I think turbo Jam is great... This time I did it for six weeks and lost about 12 pounds, buy besides that's my general strength and condition improved a lot.

I got my TurboJam DVDs yesterday and I did the Learn and Burn today! I love it! It's what I've been looking for in a workout and I'm excited to try the other videos. It's so much fun and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow. Me, looking forward to working out...weird...

hey! So I'm halfway through week 4 of the turbo jam beginner rotation, and am feeling much stronger and good about myself for sticking with something for longer than a week. I'm thinking ahead to late spring/early summer for a switch up. I live in an apartment (with people below me who ALWAYS seem to be home) and was wondering if Turbo Fire includes a lot of jumping/burpies etc? I know how effective these moves can be, but I don't want issues with the neighbors. Thanks?

Remember... nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.

When I first got my TJ DVDs a few years ago, I did them every morning and lost 10 lbs in the first week! I was so motivated and felt sooooo good but ended up falling off the wagon when I got divorced and moved.

WELL I'm back on! Did the Cardio Party last night and I'm feeling great today! Have to take this evening off to take the SK's trick-or-treating, but will make up for it by doing the 20 minute workout tomorrow morning as well as an evening workout.

Can't wait to see some results!

I havent been on Spark much of late and fell of the wagon in a big way. I'm struggling with motivation ,so i am going to start doing Turbo Jam again. I still remember how motivated and good I felt when I was doing this in the past and I think it is the way to get back on track. wish me luck.

Hi everyone,

just wanted to say 'Hi' here as well! I'm not new to SP and not to TJ either but haven't been on SP for a longer time and even longer not really done TJ! I'd like to include it back into my workout routine and would love to connect with others who love TJ just as much! emoticon

Hey everyone, I've been doing TurboJam fairly regularly since 2008, I have the first 2-DVD set with the following routines on it: Learn and Burn, 20 minute workout, Turbo Sculpt, Ab Jam, Cardio Party mix 1. I am seriously thinking of getting ChaLean Extreme (also vacillating between ChaLean Extreme and Insanity). My starting weight in 2008 was 167 lbs, I am now down to 142 lbs but have pretty much plateaued. I want to get back down to 125 lbs (I'm 5' 2"), and do not expect to get there overnight. I do the beginner and advanced rotations alternately, and this year have mixed in crunchless abs (dvds 1 and 2). Just wanted to say hi,and I'm hoping that being part of the Turbo Jammers team at SparkPeople will help me to stick to it more regularly. I like working out in the morning, but the toughie has been allowing myself the 2 hours I need to get a good 20 or 40 minute workout in.

Hi!

I'm new to the team, have started Turbo Jam (again) and coming back to SP for the umpteenth time. My goal is 100 days of exercise in a row (I'm also trying to work up to Turbo Fire, I already have it but have to recondition myself before I use it). Have done 5 days of TJ plus 2 of Ab Jam. I'm feeling stronger and I'm planning to do Turbo Sculpt tomorrow but my question is how do I track that workout on SP?

Thanks for any feedback!!!

I'm psyched to be back!

Nothing is outside your grasp with a little hard work and determination!

emoticon Congrats Tema on your weight loss!! emoticon

Well I have been doing my Turbo Sculpt and different stuff for my cardio. I was thinking of trying the toning in the Turbo Fire set, but I love the music w/the TS. I have been doing really good. My form has improved drastically and that makes the burn so much more intense. I am trying to increase my weights but doing the shoulder work is really hard when I add in the 2 pounds gloves to the 5 pound hand weights. I feel so wimpy. I do 3 segments and then the last 2 it is just the 5lbs. That's not bad since the other 3 are intense arm and shoulder work. I rest tomorrow and back to TS on Thursday, so I am going to try it again. emoticon

Hi everyone!

I'm not new to Spark but haven't been active in a very long time. I've been doing TJ for a little while and found this forum doing a search for other TJammers.

I'm here! I was on here 4 years ago, but I don't think i was very active in this group. I recently rejoined this group and started back up with TJ workouts. Chalene is so positve and she puts me in a good mood. That's not the case with other workout videos. Yahoo for us!

HI Michelle! This group is pretty quiet! Glad you are getting back on track with your workouts! TurboFIRE is more intense than Jam for sure. It's really fun and maybe after you've gotten back into the swing of doing TurboJam you'd enjoy the challenge! I know I gained WAY too much weight with my second and CLX and FIRE totally got me back into shape! :-)

Is anyone still active on this team? Not much posting going on around here...

I was pretty active about 4 years ago - anyone from those days still around?

I've had two babies since then and am ready to get back on track! I've been walking / running this past week and did some TJ again. I kind of forgot how fun they can be. Although, they are starting to look dated...how is the new Turbo Fire videos in comparison? Thinking I should stick with TJ until I am back into the swing of things and then I'll look for some new videos to do at home.

Hey all how are you doing?

@UMA108- your weight loss sometimes will start to slow as you move through but it will pick back up. Are you getting enough calories? Are you gaining muscle? Are you retaining water? These are all questions I ask myself bc they can be a reason the scale isn't moving :-)
