I got mine through IFTA. It was a down and dirty one-day course, and it wasn't too expensive. Everyone in my class was either training unofficially, in school for exercise physiology/kinisiology (or whatever that is) or already had a group instruction certification and wanted to do some one-on-one stuff (in other words, everyone went in knowing what they were doing, making a full out class unnecessary).
Do a google search and find a certification that best fits your schedule and budget. Oh, and if you are planning on working at your local gym, find out what certification they require, because one type of certification may not be "good enough" whereas another one might be.

I am doing mine through ACE. You can google ACE personal training certification and the website should come up. They have a free self study program, but you just need to buy the book. Some others are too expensive.
