From the way it sounds, I guess those of you who are not big dancers like HHA. I didn't like it at all, I ordered it and then returned it. I thought Shaun was completely corny, but I am one who is quick to catch on to choreography, so maybe thats just me.
I love TJ though, never did the learn and burn just went straight to CP1!
Well good luck and enjoy!
What is ZUMBA? What kind of workout is it?

I've never tried Zumba, but I've done HHA many times. It's a lot of fun! The intructor is really funny, a bit cheesy, but at least he motivates me. The moves aren't hard at all! For me, HHA was pretty easy from the start (though it still felt like exercising!). I'm havng a really hard time with the TJ moves, so if you were able to get those down, I'm sure that you can do HHA in no time!
And, it actually does a lot of good for your abs!

I've been taking Zumba for about 4 or 5 months. It's a lot of fun. Our YMCA offers classes and so do the local park districts. It's dancy, but it isn't too insane. I think anyone could do it. You might just need a second to catch on to the steps here and there.

I didn't know that they had Zumba DVD's, but I took a class before and it was awesome. I started at the beginning of the class so they started out slow as we were all new, but it still took a few classes to get the steps. I also have hip hop abs, which is also fun, not as exhausting as TJ, but definitely still a workout and breaks it up a little.

I'm with TurboMel- I have the older version of Zumba, and I really really wish we had a class closer to me than 35-40 miles!!! It's dancy, it's fun, it makes you sweat, and you do feel good after doing it, especially the advanced dvd. It has a dvd for learning the basic steps, and it is a nice change from TJ all the time. I'm getting a HRM for Mother's Day, when it arrives, I'll try it out for calories burned for both!

Bekah - It sounds like you're kicking butt with the TJ and HHA combo! I really admire your
"stick-to-it-ness". I have this bad habit of really sticking with it for about 2 weeks, then I slack off for another 2 or so. I've got to get better at that. But your TJ/HHA combo you have going sounds like a pretty good system.

Panda - I'd really be interested in hearing about how your Zumba class goes!! Be sure and tell us all about it after you go!

Hope everyone has a great week and that all you moms out there are having a great Mother's Day! emoticon

How many calories do you all burn doing Zumba? If it is dancy it sounds like fun. It may take me a month to figure it out, but that's okay.

I have a chance to take Zumba at the nearby fitness spa and I was interested to know what others thought of it. I might give a try next week and can let you go. It looks like a lot of fun. I love Turbo Jam and look forward to it.

Hey Becca! Love the name! :-) I'm actually doing Turbo Jam AND Hip Hop Abs. I do a combination of the two to get in my 60 minutes minimum of cardio five days a week. I started with Turbo Jam and although I love it, I got kind of bored. I also found HHA on Amazon for a pretty cheap price and couldn't resist. I thought that if I didn't like it, I could always resell it on Amazon.

I have a heart monitor to help me calculate how many calories I'm burning in each workout. I've found that I've been burning more with HHA than Turbo which at times I can't believe is right. I find combining them provides different workouts for different parts of my body. I personally do a 20 min. turbo with a 45 minute HHA one day then switch and do a 45 TJ with a 30 minute HHA. I've even moved up to level two of HHA because level one was getting too easy. That is saying a lot for a girl who weighs 228. Level 2 is kicking my butt though.

Anyway, this is getting long. Hope it helps! Bekah

Thanks Bekah!

So have you totally made the switch to Hip Hop Abs or are you still doing TJ? Do you feel like you're working as hard and burning as many calories with HHA as you do with TJ? If so, that's awesome! I also did some web surfing this morning and found the whole HHA package for somewhere around $7 from someone on amazon.com! Very tempting... emoticon

Hey! I do Hip Hop Abs, but I started with Turbo Jam. Like yourself, I was nervious that I wasn't a dancer and I wouldn't be able to do it. But I was VERY surprised. Shaun T does the moves several times slow so you can learn the moves. Once you do it for a while, you get the hang of it. Believe me, at 233 (I started at 251!) I'm able to do the workout and keep up so you will be able to just fine. You do need some coordination skills though. But I think that once you get into it, you find that you can dance and you even learn some new moves! Good luck!

Hi! Yes! I absolutely LOVE turbo jam and sometimes I like to workout again after completing my turbo jam workout. I had one advanced video of HipHopAbs but Shaun T's voice was annoying to me-- he really irked me.

As for Zumba, I have the advanced workout for that too (Mine is in spanish but I am sure the American version is exactly the same). It is very dancy. I couldn't imagine someone doing the moves correctly if they weren't a dancer or had no rhythm (I'm sure he has a "learn and burn" version of his workouts but I went straight to advanced). I like a lot of the moves that they do in the video, just not the slow stuff. And you can always send me spark mail for more info!

I wasn't crazy about hip-hop-abs but i only tried it once at a friends house, so I can say I have a formed opinion yet.

I own the older set of Zumba DVDs and they are awesome. It's so much fun. Yes, the moves can be a little tough at first, but you really feel good when your donw. You've worked hard and you feel good because you had fun doing it. I must admit the latin dancing does help you feel kinda sexy too! emoticon

I've done Hip Hop Abs and Shaun T's new workouts Rockin' Body. Love them both. :) I have 2 left feet and caught on pretty quickly. They are super fun...and really helped me to learn to dance. I don't burn as many calories with HHA or RB as I do with Turbo Jam though. So I use HHA & Rockin Body along with Yoga Booty Ballet on my lighter intensity days and stick with Turbo Jam and P90X for my harder intensity days. I haven't tried Zumba though. :)

Hey everyone!

I've been working out with Turbo Jam for a couple of months now and really love it, but I'm ready to add a little variety... I've seen the infomercials for Hip Hop abs and it looks fun, but I'm kind of worried it will be really "dancy" and hard to follow. Has anyone out there tried it or the other Shaun T workout (I know he has a newer one too). If anyone's tried them both, which is better?

This morning I also saw a commercial for some new fitness DVDs I hadn't seen before - it's called Zumba. It also looks "dancy" and fun, but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen or tried it?
