Techdoc - that is great news!

Velma - hope it isn't cancer.

Not much to say today. I've wore myself out the last 2 days with exercise. I've really congested and have a scratchy throat. The kids went bike riding Sunday off base and from the pictures I know why. All around us are olive trees in bloom and fields and fields of yellow flowers. I guess my car is going to turn yellow again soon. I need to email my doctor this week. At my last visit he talked about possibly doing a MRI instead of a CT. If so, he needs to put the order in now since it takes a month sometimes to get an appointment. I try to stay on schedule with my tests. I need to get work down around the apartment today, I think my dh will be home next week sometime.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I've had CHF for 3 yrs now, so I'm on lots of meds, I started an exercise class back in October 2011, and when my stomach & back started hurting, they said it was sore muscles. Apparently, it was more than that, because I was rushed 2 the hospital with breathing problems and phemmonia 3 wks ago. The xrays also showed something in my liver. I had a liver biopsy last Friday. Let's hope & pray it's not liver Cancer.

I am so happy. I had such a great day! My Left Atrial Pressure was optimum. I lost 3 pounds and ate healthy food. I make jewelry and gave away 4 pieces. Two people donated to my heart transplant fund. So today is a rare but awesome day! I just wanted to tell someone!

It has been a long struggle but my diabetic numbers are in great control. My recent intestinal bleeding problem seems to be resolved. Man, am I glad that all this probing, testing and generally violating me is over for now. I had a bleeding polyp that has been removed but in the process, i had lost a significant amount of blood. 3 days in the hospital and 5 units of blood brought me back to "full" on my blood dipstick. When I was so low on blood, my heart was really barking at me and I was sure I was having another heart attack. It was only the lack of good blood that was causing this heart pain. Now I am trying to get my hemoglobin levels back into the normal ranges.

Hello everyone!
I'm coming up on my 2 year CABG-versary for a rare coronary artery anomaly. Overall I'm doing well, I saw my MD today and the main things I need to work on are losing weight and getting my triglycerides down (thus reducing sugar/processed foods). I really have to get serious about it now. All of my other numbers are great and overall I've been consistent with exercise except I tore my meniscus in my left knee about 6 weeks ago so no running for another month. I'm trying to do the elliptical, stationary bike, and am getting back into lifting weights. My hubby and I are signed up for a Gladiator mud run in 2 months so I have some work to do on my fitness! I'm getting my yearly echo next week and if there are no changes we are going to go with every 2 years. I was plagued by excessive PVCs each day until a few months ago, thus the yearly echo to track any changes. I hope everyone has a great week and remember, if you make one bad choice with food or exercise you can turn it around with your next choice!

For those of you who have Cogestive Heart Failure and cannot drink the 8 cups of water a day. When you exercise slow down and do it longer. Like walking at 2 mph vs 5 mph and just walk the same distance. You will still get the exercise but not the excessive fluid loss and then you dont over drink and get excessive fluid build up and swelling! Just something i have learned from experience!

The last time I went to the cardiologist, Feb 23rd, I found out that my cholesterol really took a major rise. I had fallen and broken several bones in August 2011. I did go off of my Lipitor because I was in pain and on several meds as I recovered from surgery - underwent PT, etc. I should have resumed Lipitor but didn't for six months. I am back on Lipitor and trying to get my overall cholesterol under control as well as LDL back to a reasonable number.

I go in April for my 6 month labs and heart CT scan, after it all comes back I will see my internal medicine doctor to see if there are any changes. I saw a local cardiologist in September. That didn't go well, he was young, he had just lost a patient 4 years younger than me in the ER and he freaked on me. Kept going on and on about me needing surgery immediately. When I questioned what had changed, he admitted nothing but that I needed surgery now. I thanked him for his services and then blew off everything he said. Then I saw my doctor and the first thing out of his mouth was he had consulted with a cardiologist stateside and I needed to see a surgeon and have surgery. Otherwise, everything looked good. I left there in a daze. After, I chilled and calmed I emailed questions about why all of sudden I needed to see a surgeon now. I asked about changes, whether or not my valve had changed. There had been no changes at all, it was the same as it had been for the last 6 years. He changed his tune to: I needed to consult with a surgeon this summer. I will be back in the states then so that won't be a problem. I'm just hoping there are no changes when I go in next month so he doesn't freak on me again.

I need to lose a few pounds by then so I need to get busy with that.

Have a wonderful day!

Went to the heart doctor today-my warfarin level was to low ( 1.1) should be between ( 2.5 and 3.5.) Puts me in jeopardy of my mechanical mitral valve getting in trouble. Stroke is a possibility. So tomorrow blood work to double check my INR and other levels.

Stopping in to say hi. I'm in Italy so my day is almost over. The weather has been horrible the last couple of days so I'm having to get all of my exercise inside. I miss my daily after dinner walks. The wind has been blowing a gale making it colder than it really is, just miserable outside. Haven't been tracking my food like I should, I need to get back with it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Took until week 7 but it had to come "First Setback" (kinda) Stuck to or below my calorie allowance and gained 2.5 lbs since Monday. Oh well....I am going to attribute this to water weight as I have started the 64 oz/day water drinking. Tomorrow is another day.

I try and remember this is not a race and I have a while to figure out what works for me and what does not work. As my life changes (my husband and I will be empty nesters next fall!) so do my methods for health and weight loss. This attitude keeps things interesting and ever changing.

Hi Sliding and good for you in getting back on track. I can only say what works for me recently and that is for you to become a little "selfish" You have a family and I am sure you are not expecting them (or your friends) to eat the way you believe you need to. Sure eating healthier is great for the whole family, but they will be able to eat things you must stay away from unless they are also trying to loose weight.
So...You disregard what they are eating - plan the meals you are going to have and make that your priority. Make sure you now buy your groceries as well as theirs. When there are times you share the same meal- potion down. Buy the groceries you need as well as the ones they are having. It will take a little more time and money but it is worth it. If you are exercising - take that time for yourself as well. Your attention to family members will only drop a little and everyone will thing the results were worth it. (I hope this might help but I am no expert-just works for me - Down 30 lbs now since Jan 20th)

Hi everyone. I started sparkpeople about 3 weeks or so. Started out strong and then I allowed life to get to me so I put me on the back burner again. How do you stay focused and motivated? It is this endless cycle..I am excited to lose weight and feel better, i get so busy and overwhelmed that I allow my excitement to dim and I am back where I started. I have two young kids and all that goes with it. Any suggestions on staying motivated and not stressing out so much would be greatly appreciated! Have a great day.

On the way home from work, I had a phone call. Some people wanted to come over and visit after dinner. I get home at 6pm... Threw a frozen pizza in the oven for a quick meal. Of course, I can't eat just one piece. Serving size is 1/6. How do you cut it in 6th's? I cut in 8th's. Had to recalculated the entire serving sizes. I ate 3 pieces!!!!! I have a love/hate relationship with pizza. How do you really eat just 1 piece?????

It is getting close to my bedtime but wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone. Had a busy day and I'm wore out. Plan on getting a good nights sleep so I have a great day tomorrow! My scale and I don't get along very well right now but I have not to kick or throw this one out the window. So I just take a quick peek at my weight and get on with my day. I can wear a smaller pair of jeans so I'm not too upset.

Hope everyone has a great day!

You know Cheri, I hate that argument too. So I stopped weighing myself all the time! As long as I FEEL better I don't care what the stupid scale says. Besides, I lost inches before I lost pounds. Hang in there!
