I guess I should have been more specific when I said "of the 5 surgeries". This is my first and only cardiac surgery. What I meant to say is that this is the worst surgery I've had out of all my "various" surgeries. My other ones included a foot reconstruction, hernia surgery and 2 surgeries for tumors in the middle ear. I was probably still under the influence (and still am) of Norco so I'm a bit spacey.
Take it easy, and don't push yourself, get a lot of rest, and when you are ready and feeling better, than you can answer our questions. I'm glad to hear you are taking it in stride, but my question is, 'why did you have to have 5 surgeries?' What did they do during the first four?
I just got home last night and this is the first time on my own PC. I definitely plan on blogging about my whole experience but it could be a project in the making because there is so much to say and I don't quite have the energy to do it yet. I'll keep you all posted.
Hi George! I didn't expect to hear from you so soon, wow.It sounds like your recovery is doing well,it sounds like I can take you off my worry list for now.Don't overdoo it take your time and go at the pace you feel comfortable with. When you get home maybe you would do a blog about the surgery and the process and prep. I did that with the Cardioversion I had. Be a good patient and I hope they are treating you well or your Spark People will, well hope we don't,lol! Diana

Thanks for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. I did have the surgery Tuesday and I am still here. I am doing very well according to the nurses, Drs. etc. I gained 21# following the surgery due to the nature of the surgery itself. I need to get some of this excess water off me and also to get my blood oxygen saturation to over 90%. It is also due to excess fluid. I may be going home tomorrow or by Monday. One of the nurses here let me use one of the computers because I told her I was so bored. I have done everything else they have asked of me. I have been walking, did the stairs, dressed, practiced a car transfer, tub transfer and bed transfers. I wish I could say it was a piece of cake but it really wasn't. Of the 5 surgeries I've had, this one was the hardest but it's also the most extensive and the good news is that the recovery is fairly quick. I can't help but believe that all the great thoughts and prayers I received helped me through it. I am 100% positive that I will be making a full recovery and will be better than before. I will email more when I can and please feel free to ask me anything regarding the surgery. Even though they told me what was going to happen, I had no idea what to expect when I went through it and I think that it's easier when you do.
