I made one many years ago that I have kept all these years.

That was to make no more resolutions. I didn't keep them anyway.

Do you encourage others to do their best? -- Yes I do. Husband #2 was so negative, I said I didn't want to be like him. I try to find the good in everyone.

Have you ever told yourself to do your best with the same conviction? --- I try, but some days it is easier than others. Since I have been working so many hours and walking so much the weight is slowly coming off. Half a pound to 1 pound a week - slow but sure!!

One of the most important lessons in life is learning to be patient with yourself. Recognizing that we all make mistakes is easy, but learning that you can always find a way to overcome them is sometimes hard.

I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year. It will be my daughter, son in law, 3 granddaughters and my son. No recipes to share - just a basic turkey roasted, bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggie, cranberry sauce and rolls. Pie for desert - one pumpkin, one ice cream.

Looking forward to dinner with my family!

No candy purchased by this gal, so no concern as to what to do with leftovers.

A good friend brought her extra candy to Bible study to share, with those who cared to indulge. I was not one of that number! emoticon

DO YOU BUY HALLOWEEN CANDY~ YES
All my GK come over and I make bags up for them but make sure there are things in it that their folks like so they eat the majority of it. I also put bananas in the bags.
The day after Halloween I bought a big bag of half price candy to take to my Mom's She has a candy jar that everyone always expects her to have something in it.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ANY LEFTOVER CANDY
I took it to my Mom's (I did keep out 3 bite size Hersey Bars and 4 small peanut butter cups)

QOTD - HALLOWEEN CANDY - LEFTOVERS

DO YOU BUY HALLOWEEN CANDY

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ANY LEFTOVER CANDY

I bought 1 bag of snack size Almond Joy candy bars. I had to work and would not be home until the last 30 minutes. I bought it in case I had any trick - treaters. I eat the left over candy. I eat one serving when I get a urge for chocolate. One serving is 100 calories and if you slowing chew and let it melt, it satisfies my urge.

Do you have a favorite Food for Fall?

I make a lot of chili in the fall. It is easy to make the day ahead if a lot of people are coming over.

Do you enjoy 'Fall Back" Daylight savings.

Favorite food for Fall? I guess I made one tonight - Unstuffed Cabbage. I don't like the work of stuffed cabbage anymore so I chop my cabbage (or use coleslaw mix) along with chopped onion, celery, garlic and some carrots and ground beef cooked with stewed tomatoes, add a little worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper to taste and maybe a few shakes of tobasco sauce. While that's all cooking make a pot of rice- we have a rice-cooker, and serve rice on the side or pile the cabbage mix on top of the rice. Its good with a little soy sauce drizzled on top. I don't have a calorie count, cause i don't measure it.

We do like the Fall back daylight savings time in Maine; it takes a little getting used to at the first few weeks.

Do you have a Favorite Food for Fall - I like to make Chili using half ground beef and Turkey

Do you enjoy the "Fall Back" Daylight Savings NO !!! In Indiana we stayed on the same time no matter if it was Daylight or what. We called it Indiana Time. Half the year we were with New York time and the other half it was on Chicago time. I remember we did that for over 30 years. We got a new governor who was in Reagan's Cabinet and he had to have it changed because we needed to be with New York time all the time. This is in spite of the fact that we are 2 hours away from Chicago. Didn't make sense to a lot of people, but the governor pushed it thru.

Hi all!

My plan for October is:

Lose 3 lbs.

It's a big goal and I'm not sure I can achieve it, but I"m going to try by using SP food tracker daily. Using the tracker is my weak point. It takes so much time for me to search for foods and use it I get frustrated and give up. I'm going to try one meal a day for a week, then two and then three.

I signed up for the BCL 29 (Biggest Loser Challenge) on SP. It's intensive. They have the members doing something every day. It's demanding, but it's what I need to boost my motivation.

Continue walking a mile 6 days a week. Monday thru Saturday

Continue swimming 45 minutes 6 days a week.

Strength training with my 20 lb weighted bar. 10 reps X 3 Mon-Wed-Sat.

Continue using the Misfit tracker Shine. So far I'm not too impressed. It doesn't track my swimming that well. Misfit has a swim tracker. I might try that instead. It's just another investment I'm reluctant to try because of it's expense.

Indorty- Ten years ago I was in really bad shape. I had a very bad back problem which made even walking difficult. I started walking in the pool by the request of my doctor. And that's how I began my rehabilitation. Now, I can walk a mile or more as well as swim a mile.I highly recommend walking in the water, aqua exercise and swimming. It's the perfect exercise. Even though it's non weight bearing it's been scientifically proven to build not only muscle, but build bones. The pressure that water exerts on the body is such that bones get stimulated to grow stronger. It's good for balance, strength and for weight loss. You can tell I love it and I do.

I plan to continue doing what I have been doing (it has been working so why upset the proverbial "apple cart"? is what I ask myself); however, I have been considering getting in another nice long walk when possible! emoticon

Great plans!
I plan to walk at least 20 min.a day and do ST 3 days a week.
I am trying to get 8 glasses of water drank each day.

I am staying away from processed foods as much as possible to lower my sodium intake.
My DH has been doing that since May and has lost 50 lbs. (I go out to eat too much). I'm trying not to go out so much with friends too eat.

What will your plans be for Health & Excercise for this Month emoticon

This month is the first of a successful journey to drop 20 kgs. Starting with the 21 day sugar busting challenge. I will also be doing more cycling on my stationery bike .... Starting of at 10 minutes and gradually increasing. Plus I will be doing water walking more often

QUESTION OF THE DAY..............................

You are going to get to dine out and have a full course meal.........All FREE of charge!!!

What type of meal are you going to order?

Soup- Lobster Bisque, Small House Salad (gotta get those veggies in!), broiled lobster (yes, with butter!), baked potato with sour cream and chives, broccoli, and if I could fit it after all that, a piece of decadent chocolate cake with the smallest bit of vanilla ice cream on the side, and decaf coffee.
Of course I would never eat all of that in the real world, but if I could, and didn't have to worry about calories, that's what I'd have..free of charge!

I always check online for the menu, particularly if it is a restaurant I've never been to before. To be honest though, I check more to see if there would be something I would be interested in having, and then if it sounds decadent, I'll check to see if they list the calories.. If the calories/fat content are high, I'll usually eat 1/3 and then bring home the rest for 2 more meals. We have to enjoy ourselves sometimes! emoticon

Well he wanted me to split the fried catfish meal with him, which I did...only ate a small piece with a few green beans. Tried one piece of my hubby's orange chicken also!! Took home leftovers.

It depends on where I am going. I try to get grilled chicken or salad with dressing on the side. If it is pasta I stick with whole wheat and go with Marinara sauce. There is usually no desert on my meal plan!!

It depends on how much notice I get. We usually cook out at home or at friends' house. Most places have low fat now and I would go for a nice salad and baked chicken breast with veggies. If they don't have low cal... I would just have salad and eat before I go!

I'd have to say procrastination! I see my "before" picture, yet I don't "wanna" work out. It could also be that it is 81 degrees inside (not much cooler than outside) and 88 outside (but the feels like outside is 102 and the feeling inside is 90!) Well to me it is. I just wanna take a nap!

Not much gets me motivated at the moment. Some days I am better and some days you have to love me the way I am. I have fought weight problem my whole life. I had kidney problem in 8th grade and I was given steroids to clear it up. I have been fighting my weight ever since then. I try to maintain a steady weight, but sometimes it doesn't work.
