Well I was actually hoping to avoid this topic on here....but yea, the Kimkins plans themselves are not good plans and are potentially dangerous. The additional "support" and "encouragement" to go even lower on calories just makes the whole thing scary!!
And then there's Kimmer, who appears to be a scam artist.
I've blogged on the subject twice:

I'm a moderator on Jimmy Moore's site and there are many members on there that have been on Kimkins. It's very sad, they are afraid to eat, afraid to trust and they feel like they have been taken advantage of (they have).
When I first heard about Kimkins I thought it was a bad idea as it was described as low carb with lower fat intake. But this is NOT a low carb diet....this is a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) that happens to restrict carbs and far to keep the calories low. These plans do NOT follow any of the accepted "rules" of almost all low carb plans....and in fact these plans actively go against the accepted low carb rules.
It does look like Kimmer (aka Heidi Diaz of Carona California) is now being investigated. It seems that she is morbidly obese and has lied about many other things. (Apparently she has also been sent money for non-existant foster children...money raised on her site by faithful members)
Two other quick points.
1. I have learned that Women's World has said that they do little investigating on their stories, but simply print what they feel is popular and new....so beware of anything you rad in this magazine.
2. Look for and read any article by Laura Dolson on About.com. Laura really does understand low carb and it's effect on blood sugar, insulin resistance, etc. She's fantastic!!
