TRISHAAMETZ: Like you, I experienced a weight gain at the beginning of this challenge and I was struggling, but I am happy to report that as of this morning, I am 1.9 pounds below my starting weight. I think this had something to do with using the elliptical early yesterday morning before work which burned over 300 calories off and a small personal victory of saying no to a 3 Musketeers bar.

Like CURBUR and LESSOFMOORE, I want to add my words of encouragement to each of you. Let's stay on track today, I really want to meet this challenge. By the 31st, I want to say I've lost 6 pounds this month!!!

So, I managed to decrease a little of that vacation weight. Still a ways to go, but spin/tone this evening should help with that. It has been rough to get into the discipline of saying 'no' to so many treats. I can do this, I know we all can do this! This will be a good week for everyone!

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

I had a rough start and gained a few pounds. Now I'm losing that. I totally forgot to weigh in over the weekend and this morning. Last time I checked I was down 4lbs but that was a bunch of weight I had gained. I have to drop 2 more pounds to be where I was at the beginning of the month. Then I'll go for counting.

I had a chat with the new man that my schedule has really been messed up and so have my eating habits, since I starting dating him. He is supportive and understands that now I must work out before going to his place and he cannot get offended if I don't eat something he cooked. Yay for great men!

Ok, I regained all that I lost last week. Too many nights of eating out this past week due to being overworked and stressed. I hit the treadmill today and have our dinners planned for the week. I have challenged my DH and 14 year old DS to exercise with me. We are going to try and face this as a family.

I noted one the day of your first post for this challenge that I was in, but now I can not find where I responded. As I said in my original post, I need the help being accountable.

I am down 2 pounds since the original post, so at least for this past week, I have been back on track.

Corrii, like you, I work out at home. I admit, I don't do anything exciting. I have a treadmill, some weights, a resistance band, a balance board and a mini trampoline.

How's everyone doing? Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I need to stay away from pizza and candy if I'm going to lose 6 lbs. by the end of this month. I'm getting ready to make a hearty vegetarian chili, it's a good day for chili. My weight is actually up a little bit, but I am determined to make my goal of a loss of 6 pounds by the end of this month. I am going to have a better week and I'm looking at what foods I need to stay away from and recovering from a cold this week that has had me reaching for comfort food. I'm looking forward to more cardio and strength training this coming week and more yoga, always yoga:)

I recruited a co-worker for my challenge but she is not a sparker. So this morning we wrote our goal weights down and put them in an envelope. Then we will do a reveal together! I'm excited! Getting help and encouragement everywhere I can.

6 lbs is ambitious but realistic, even with vacation this week. Eating out is not conducive to dropping pounds, nor is spending lots of time in the car. My fitness buddy is far away at present, but I hope we can connect when I get back in town and double up my efforts to "catch up."
I will need to record a starting weight when I return. I'm in for the challenge. I can do this and I will be healthier for the effort regardless of what the scale says.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

Good morning, it is the 2nd day of October and there are 4 of us out of a team of over 2400 Spark people. I wonder if each one of us could reach out to another South Bend Sparker and encourage them to join this October challenge. We could double our challenge. Do you know of someone that you could Spark mail or leave a comment on their Spark page and ask them if they might consider focusing on their weight loss within this month's challenge with us?

Hi Trisha, Welcome to the challenge.

Hi Corrii, I teach in downtown South Bend.

I walked 3 miles on my lunch hour today. I taught a cycling class for 30 minutes, followed by teaching strength training for 30 minutes.

Tonight's new strategy for October is: my DH brought a package of pecan sandies cookies home and I'm going to go to bed because I do not want to cave in. I want weight loss more than a cookie!

I'm in!

I have entered a challenge to lose 15lbs by the end of the year. So that is about what I need to lose this month anyway. If I don't lose the weight I have to buy my friend a spa package. Same for her.

I've been using the workout videos on my Comcast Demand thing. Those are great and there are tons of them. So they don't get boring as quickly.

Do you teach anywhere near South Bend?? I never get to go to gyms or classes because of work, so I always have to work out at home, but I'm getting burnt out on what I'm doing. Need more at home ideas :(

Good morning, CORIISIREN,

I teach yoga four times per week. I teach a 30 minute cycling/30 minute strength training class twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. I walk during my lunch hours. Recently I added swimming after cycling on Wednesday nights..

Saturday morning, I danced before teaching my yoga class. I've been thinking about using the elliptical again.

I would like to extend this invitation to all of you on this team to encourage each other and participate by joining this new challenge. I thought it might be a way to breathe a Spark back into our South Bend team. And I ask for your support as I'm struggling with my weight loss at this time.

I challenge you to lose 6 pounds by the 31st of October. Join this challenge by posting that you're in (or post your starting weight, if you feel comfortable doing so. This starting weight is optional.) Post how you're doing throughout this month and let's have accountability by checkin' in on the Saturdays in October to let each other know how we are doing toward the 6 pounds goal. (1.5 pounds per week is a realistic and healthy weight loss, it's do-able). And it doesn't have to be on Saturday, I know our lives are busy with work and families, etc. It can be throughout the week or at any time when you find yourself on the thread, on Spark. Let's spark up this team!

What have you got to lose? Please join me in the month of October! We CAN DO THIS!
