I love the idea of jelly - since chia seeds turn gelantious when they absorb liquid, that makes total sense! Thanks for the recipe!!

There's a drink I get at Lifesource that has chia seeds in it. It's nummy! My favorite is cherry lime.

Strawberry Chia jam (recipe I found in my inbox this morning!)

1 cup strawberries (frozen or fresh)
1 Tablespoon chia seeds
1 Tablespoon water
stevia, to taste (or other sweetener, like maple syrup)
If using frozen strawberries, let them thaw, or thaw in microwave. Mash strawberries with a fork or blend them. I mashed one batch and used my immersion blender for another – both methods worked great, but the blended version was more like jelly and less like jam.
Mix in chia seeds, water and stevia, if using. I used 2-3 drops of liquid stevia, but I don’t think it would be necessary with super sweet berries. It just depends on how sweet you want your jam. Cover the mixture and place in the fridge to set up for a while, 30-60 minutes is ideal. That’s it!

I don't think they taste like much of anything. I put them in smoothies, on salads, in scrambled eggs. You don't even notice they are there really and they are sooooooooo good for you! Bigger groceries are starting to carry them in the organic section. EarthFare, Trader Joes and Whole Foods all have them. Kroger has them.

I just watched a great documentary that talks about their benefits as well as a lot of other stuff. Really motivating doc! Check it out if you can. It's called Hungry for Change and is on Netflix Instant. I wish I could remember specifically what it said about chia seeds but my brain hasn't woken up yet. Something about helping the body detox.

If you only knew all the love that I found...

I love chia. They are crunchy and a bit nutty. A lot like poppy seeds as far as crunch/texture. I put them in smoothies or on salads.

My friend who is a chef made me a salad with chia seeds recently. It had all kinds of greens, carrots, nuts, grape tomatoes, vinegrette and chia sprinkled on top.

He served it with a piece of grilled salmon. Really yummy!

I love them. I add them to my smoothie, sprinkle on any salad and make chia pudding.

and what do you do with them?! I just bought some from Whole Foods, and I don't know what to do with them.

Also - have you found any positives/negatives from eating them?
