After doing some perusing, I think I'm going to follow the Castle Trail in Aberdeen (brochure here: http://www.aberdeen-grampian.com/userfiles/file/castle-trail-2011-12.pdf.) It's over 300 miles long on the efficient route, but I'm sure that I'll be taking side trips and more scenic walks to lengthen it.
So, yesterday I landed in Dyce and began my walking journey to my first destination - Dunnottar Castle south of Stonehaven (26 miles, in the efficient car-route.) By the end of today, I will have made it to the other side of Aberdeen - I'm only walking a few miles a day so that leaves plenty of time for sightseeing in-between.
