20.51 miles in the last 2 weeks... bad weather and moving my son from Rochester to Virginia. I did notice that "shoveling snow" was added to the Fitness page so I've been able to keep track of my shoveling.:)

The first one I did was from Illinois to Key West! It took a little over a year.

You're doing great! emoticon

14.3 miles this week and past my first checkpoint, Utica! ( I noticed a few people doing this and the idea of shorter goals on the way to a bigger goal really appealed to me since I have a feeling my trip to Maine is going to take a long, long time. :) )

Do you have a gym or church with an inside area to walk in?

Linda, what about a mall? Some of them are very walker friendly, especially if you can get there at the times of day when they're not too crowded.

Just realized I missed posting last week. So my total for 2 weeks is 20.07 miles; 568.88 to go. :)
(Need to find somewhere indoors to walk now that the weather is getting to be a problem. Snow and rain tonight for the trick-or-treaters -- you have to love Central New York weather! :) )

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Made it through my first week with 10.82 miles (yes, I am counting the 2/100 of a mile :) ). Only 588.95 miles to go --- this is going to be a long trip...

I've tracked every workout since I started with Sparkpeople. Since I walk marathons, its a big help with training.

Sounds like a great idea. :) Will the fitness tracker keep track of just one day or more than 1?

Thanks for the hint about google maps. Tried it after my walk this morning. :)

I use Google Docs, spreadsheet to track my miles. Google Docs is a free, online place with the applications to create and save your files online.

I also track my progress on Google Maps by adding markers along the route. Here is a sample of w route I'm doing now:
maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=e
n&
msa=0&msid=106711092058250968397.000R>49192b87db3a519d78&ll=35.515461,-75.

Checking out the satellite images and the photos on Google Maps, help make the trip more fun!

You can track miles in the fitness tracker. You can enter the miles and time and it'll estimate your calorie burn. Since I use a heart rate monitor, I only use that option if I'm doing more casual walking without my monitor. When I use the monitor I enter the information from that under cardio and then go in under miles and fill in the distance but leave the minutes blank, and it adds to my mileage total without figuring calories - keeps me from double dipping.

Hi!
I'm new to this group today and I have a question...
I've decided to walk from home to Acadia National Park (one of my favorite places and about 601 miles away according to Google Maps). Is there somewhere to keep track of our miles on the Spark website or do we just put our miles in our posts?
(If there isn't a mileage tracker and someone's good with computers, I think it would be a great idea.)
Thanks for your help! emoticon
