It'll take you to the Challenge Walks forum in this very team. There is a small group, a subset of this team, that picks a different destination each month and then walks to it. We have different starting points so those who are just getting into walking and those who really rack up miles can pick a walk that they think they can do. We do this for a month, and at the end of each month, we decide on a different destination.
I've personally been doing this for I think more than 2 years now. I started out walking down the Mississippi River with the coleader of this team - Owlwho - and eventually we settled onto the idea of a monthly walk. We've walked in Ireland, China, Japan, Peru, Canada, Minnesota, Maryland, North Carolina and Thailand to name a few. I don't think I can name them all, but all of our walks are in the lists in the Challenge Forum.
We'd love to have anyone join the New Zealand walk. We have had folks who have a longer walk as a goal - perhaps something that will take a year. Since we have no real rules here, other than to do what keeps you healthy, some of them count the monthly challenge miles towards their longer walks. The theory is that some shorter term goals keep you moving.
So, we'd be glad to let you record your Transamerica miles against the New Zealand miles. And if you walk in New Zealand with us, we'll be happy to cheer you on.
