Have been gone for awhile and thought I would see how my Spark friends are doing. Guess we are all off track. Holidays around the corner and it won't get any easier. Hope everyone is doing well. My grandson was born 9-11. After 3 and half weeks in the hospital and two heart surgeries he is at home. But, he needs another surgery soon and we are hoping it will be around Thanksgiving so he can be home with his parents for Christmas. Through all the stress I have been down 5 lbs but haven't done anything to keep it off. Hope everyone is being good to themselves.

Just checking in again. Nothing to report. I promised myself that Monday (which is my day off) I am not going to finish the Beck Solution so I am get myself back on track. I have never listened to a book before. A lot harder than I thought. I am a multi tasker so I am finding it impossible to find time to just sit and listen. Its not the type of book you can do laundry or walk the treadmill and listen to. Or at least I can't because I am taking notes. Anyway, I am telling my family that this Monday I am locking myself somewhere and finishing this book.

Sorry that so few of us have been here to share your successes. You three are doing great and know I am (and the rest of us will be too when they check in) are proud of you! Thirteen pounds in a month is fantastic Barb! Way to go! Keep it up you guys. Hopefully I will be able to post a loss soon too.

I am down a little more than 2lbs this week for a total of 13 lbs since July 16th. I am hoping to continue the trend. It has been mostly done just by portion control and 2 30 minute workouts most days.

Looks like a few of us have been missing. Don't feel as guilty. I haven't been able to get motivated. The need to has constantly been on my mind though. I downloaded The Beck Solution on my kindle - its an audio book. I'm hoping it will help to motivate me and give me some direction to get back into serious weight loss before the scale gets really out of control. So far it really does have some good ideas. Has anyone else read this book? Great job to the few of you that have been consistent. Way to go Barb. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be back to posting weight losses.

Since getting back from Hot Springs I am down 3 lbs. I am also going to join the gym in town. Maybe I need to also bump up my workouts and a gym will give me a chace to do that.

Wow Brad very impressive. I on the other hand have had done absolutely nothing. Up a couple of pounds. I did get up early today and took a brisk 45 minute walk. Really broke out in a sweat and I do feel good about that. I am hoping it carries out through the week. Keep cool everyone - the heat wave continues.

The last few weeks haven't been so good for me, joint & back problems the meds led to weight gain & not just a few pounds...ugh!! so long story short...back to square one fore me. This is a vicious cycle I seem to keep going through. My poor eating habits haven't helped either Though I will not let this beat me.

On the upside we did take a few days and took a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Had a great time there. I am ready to regain my focus and get back on track.

Just checking in. No effort at all this past week. Took the week off for vacation. My husband and I took a few day trips and an overnight so just about every meal was out, My regular work week is Tuesday through Saturday so technically this is my last day of vacation. I will get on scale next week although I do plan on getting back to business tomorrow. I wanted to let you know my my daughter's baby had a good month. His left ventricle grew quite a bit. While it won't catch up to the right it is looking better. Doctors are more encouraged. Prayers are working and I can't thank all of you enough. Thank you thank you -- and please continue because they are working!

The heat has gotten to us all - we need to give ourselves a break. We know what we need to do and we will. But like Barb pointed out - we need to treat ourselves or take a break once in awhile. Enjoy the cooler weather while it lasts.

not engaged in the effort right now....wife is gone for 2 weeks visiting relatives and I miss my dog.....holding my own, but not succeeding

Keep up the effort....dont let me bring you down....I will be back on it soon.....monday starts a long stretch of umpiring....probably 60 games in 18 days....

Down 2 this week. I am making progress but would like to get to the point that my knees, ankles and back doesn't bother me at all. I think that is incentive to stick with this.

Linda travel does make it more difficult with the eating and tracking. Mike I allow myself some "junk" food every now and then. I think it helps me from feeling deprived.

I weighed in at 171.6 today. I have been hovering in the 171 range for several weeks now. Time to break loose and say good-bye to the 170's. I need to be consistent in my eating and tracking. It is hard to do when I am gone so much. DH is coming home for a few days this next week, so hope to give him some home cooking. He has been eating out since May 10 and has been gaining weight.

weighed in at 371 today...feeling good from the exercise of umpiring. wife is gone for 16 days now to see her sister...I might eat some junk, but not much of it. I'll work on losing 6 lbs. in the next 2 weeks....

Mike I am sorry to hear you lost your dog. Losing a pet is so hard, it is like losing a member of the family. We lost our dog Zoey's dad Rocky 3 yrs ago & the loss was devastating.

Sorry about your dog. I was devastated when we lost our 13 year old husky. They are such a source of comfort and part of the family. That alone could cause stress eating. Again, so sorry - I know how bad you and your family must be feeling.

I spent the weekend in Terre Haute again visiting my husband and father in law. Again, eating out, so didn't get my Friday weigh in either. I'm home now so will have to eat really well and try to get in some exercise this week.

I'm here! missed my Friday weigh in...we put our dog down last week, so it was kind of a lost week. She went fast with an immune system disorder.

I've been watching what I eat...but too many bad days. i did umpire 16 games over the weekend, so feeling active...back to working out tomorrow.... My wife is headed to AZ to see relatives for 16 days, so I am aiming for that to be a solid time for me to collect my thoughts and enhance my effort.

Keep up the good work ladies! Let's keep things moving the right way!

Back down to 155.5 this week. I need to quit going back and forth between 155-157. I want to break the 155 barrier already. Exercised a few days this week. Not everyday but still an improvement over what I have been doing. Baby steps...Hope everyone is doing okay, Anyone out there???

Mike, exactly the opposite in our family. Mom was 5'8", Dad is 5'10.5", and all 3 of us are shorter. I'm 5/3", my sis is 5'6" and my bro is 5'7".

I hear you about the food on the weekends. I don't like beer, but do like food and went to a Father's Day get together. All the good picnic food--fried chicken potato salad, baked beans, etc. But, it is only one day, and got back on the wagon yesterday. I have been eating out a lot since DH has been with his father, so have to be careful there.

After 6 good days I went on a two day binge started by a graduation/birthday party... 5 words..free beer...chocolate chip cookies....led to a Sunday of eating crap and McDonalds twice yesterday since I spent a few hours at the vet...our dog isn't doing well, probably will have to put her down this week so, admitting my sins and trying to make a decent effort to get back going today...at least a small workout sometime today. Taking Dad to the doctor this afternoon and he likes to go out to eat after....FYI: Dad is 5'6'' and 160, Mom is 5'4"....I'm 6'5'' and my sister is 5'10''... no mailman jokes please...LOL

I am really having a hard time motivating myself to do any exercise when it is so warm outside. Okay with the eating, but need the work out. Instead of getting out and walking early like I should, I sit and play games on Facebook instead. Aren't I pathetic?

Boy I sounded pathetic yesterday! Just as a follow up I did wake up this morning and get on the treadmill. I also did some free weights. I drank a bottle of water as soon as I got up too. It's only the first day. But it's a start.

I am up to 157 this week. Scale is definitely going in the wrong direction. If I am honest with myself I have to admit I haven't been giving 100%. Looks like I won't be making my goal in a couple of weeks of 154. Wait - I still have time. Maybe. I need to really focus. My head is not in the game. I don't know why I haven't been able to focus. I am so disgusted with the way I look but yet I still keep shoveling it in. I guess my biggest problem is not planning on what I am eating. When I don't plan I am too tempted to eat all the wrong things. I need to get my act together quick!

I lost only .2 pounds this week--too much travelling and eating out. We talked about summer goals last week. I have decided that my summer goal is to get to my 10% weight loss, which is only 5.2 pounds away. That is a very doable goal and should not stress me out, but should jump start more weight loss, I hope.

A couple weeks ago I started South Beach again and so far so good. I am down 10 lbs since the restart and inching closer to getting below 200! I really need to keep this up, I feel much better and have more energy.

Good job on the effort! As long as you're happy with what you did for the week it doesn't matter what the scale says...I think we all just want to work into a lifestyle where healthy living is natural...and not by denying ourselves. I know I NEED to get some of this weight off, it doesn't feel good and as I get older it the harder it is to carry around.

Well...Hawaii in exactly one year. I thought I did pretty well this week. Even got back to exercising. However I was up half a pound. What the heck! Tonight my best friend and I are taking my daughter out to dinner at an Italian restaurant of all places. But I've been really good all day so it shouldn't be too bad. I need to just keep pushing through. Mike and Linda - you have to enjoy yourself once in awhile or else you go crazy and overboard. I know I do. Thanks for the win Mike! Maybe I should give you our tickets. All right next week I have to loose this half a pound than than some.

Miller Park...I need to get there, a good friend of mine is a Brewers fan.... 0.6 seems okay, as long as we continue the effort, it doesn't have to be a weekly loss anyway, just a long term slow progress.

I did bring home a win! 8-2 dempster pitched well My sister bought box seats for my "birthday present" (which is in August...was nice to see a win in enemy territory.

I gained .6 this week. Not too bad considering that I was at Miller Park in the Dew Deck having a ballpark buffet the day before. That was the day the Cubs lost to the Brewers 4-3 in the 10th inning. We really thought they were going to pull that one off. Mike, hope you can bring back a win.

Cubs game tomorrow...very hot up here...my sister is taking me for an early birthday present...still okay with the losing this year, need some high draft picks...be nice if they win tomorrow.... sitting up a few rows above the Twins dugout

Oops! I see I missed a week. I did weigh myself - I gained a pound. I guess I just never posted. On the positive side I was back to 155 this week so I lost that pound. Last weekend I went to a wedding. Saw a picture of the wedding on Facebook and I was in the background,. OMG! Sometimes I think we need a visual to wake us up. It was not pretty. This morning I took a 3 mile walk. It's been too long since I've exercised regularly. I promised myself today would be the first day of getting back to it. Sorry for being mia.

I was at 375 yesterday...but starting a renewed effort for June through August...thinking I can lose 40 by the time school starts again... with a good effort, and a good plan, that should be a modest goal
Good job ladies on your solid weigh ins! Still missing Donna...hope all is well with her and she's just busy...

I am once again back down to 171. My goal is to break through that barrier and get out of the 170's before we go to Branson week after next.

Staying the same is good. I gained 1.2 pounds this week, but I think it was mostly water retention, should be back down next week.

stayed the same this week...trying to get through 4 straight nights grilling out with friends this weekend.... not at the top of my game, but trying to be aware of consumption... lake last night was gorgeous.

Hawaii 2013?...I hate you!! Oh, did I type that? I just meant to think it. Actually, so great for you!! You do have plenty of time and motivation to tighten it up....that's what I thought when we planned 2 weeks in Hawaii two years ago...I didn't do well. Keep the prize in mind! Don't kill yourself getting there, but maybe just a little. There are no expectations from this group as far as weight, only that you make yourself healthier and support us and yourself!! Mike

Stayed the same this week - 155 this week. At least I didn't gain. However I've been shopping for a dress for a wedding next weekend. How depressing. That was a wake up call. Booking our Hawaii trip for 2013. Okay, I have a whole year now (we are going early June 2013) to get in shape and drop more weight. No excuses. I need some tough love guys. Good job everyone. Sorry to bring the week average down emoticon On the positive side I did start working out today.

good week....first of many I hope....let's see, who controls that? oh yeah, I do....

feeling good. working toward better things. Lost track of all the ups and downs over the
last couple months since we started this little support pod...but net result is down 8 lbs. since
we started in late March and 18 since January 1.

I lost 2.2 pounds this week, back to 171 which is where I was before I went to AZ and got off track. DH has been away for the past week with his father who has been in the hospital. As far as my eating, that could go both ways. I eat when I'm bored, but I tracked for the past 2 weeks and it has really paid off. I have really had to talk to myself when I get bored and get the munchies. I am trying to keep fresh veggies and fruit for those times. Occasionally, I'll splurge but keep it to small amounts.

I am going to visit FIL and DH this weekend, so will be eating out. I need to remember and use my strategies that I learned a couple of weeks ago in WW.

218 this week! Mike thanks for the compliment. I had a hectic weekend with traveling and a special event that included ice cream cake. Looks like I need to work really hard this week so I won't see the scale go up on Friday's weigh-in!

Linda - thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Puts so much in perspective. Good for you for sticking with it and coming out ahead. I am 155 this week. Down 1.5 lbs. I myself am going to be quitting WW. I can never stick with a plan for long. My problem is that I go full blast for a few weeks and than quit full blast. This time around I am trying to avoid the whole "diet" way of thinking. I am eating like I should be eating - if I eat not so good one meal - I am making up for it the next. Surprisingly it seems to be working. I have lost 9.5 lbs since I've been doing this (I started before I joined this particular challenge). I think the fact that for the first time in my life I feel my age - that's helping me to put things in perspective. Now I really need to get working on my exercise. Its so beautiful today - Monday is my day off so I am going to go out for a nice long walk.

Before my AZ vacation in March I was at a low of 171. A week ago thursday I got very discouraged since I had not yet taken off the extra pounds from the trip, in fact, I had a weight gain of 3.2 pounds last week. I was very discouraged and frustrated, even thought about quitting WW, didn't want to put out the money and use the program. I realized I had not even been working the program or tracking my food since I got back from vacation. I made a resolve to get back on the program and start tracking again. Even though I had gained the weight, the meeting was geared exactly to what I needed, talked about how we talk to ourself and hints for eating out, which we do a lot. When I weighed in yesterday, I had lost 2.2 pounds. I am still a couple of pounds above what I was before AZ trip, but if I keep doing what I need to do, that should come off this week or next, then the sky's the limit.

Donna, so glad to hear about your grandson. I'll keep praying that all goes well.
