My doctor said the x-rays show damage from OA in cervical and thoracic vertebrae, I do have a stiff neck and it makes a lot of noise whenever I move my head...kind of crunchy, sand-papery noises...And I do have headaches altho fewer than I had when I drank diet soda. Guess I need to keep pushing her to keep an eye on the damage in my neck...
And I laughed about the Holiday Inn Express too...I've known some folks like that too, just never thought to word it that way...you can bet I will now tho.

I was talking about this issue on a different website, one specifically for PsA....and the people there got very snooty. I don't think I'm going to hang out there anymore. They all act like they were doctors. (which they weren't...they just slept at a Holiday Inn Express)....
I woke up one morning with a "stiff neck". Went to the rheumatologist who did xrays and boom - I had lost a couple of my cervical joints. I was fast tracked to a neurologist who fast tracked me to surgery within two weeks. I had c1-c4 fused. I didn't have issues with headaches but just the stiff neck and pain. But more importantly I was having unexplained loss of control with my legs (and falling). This was the critical issue since what those cervical joints can affect. After the surgery: permanent stiff neck..lol (but no pain).
I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie ----------------------- Kierae - happily maintaining since 1/2009
Does anyone else have excruciating neck pain and it crunches every time I move my head. And I have extremely limited ROM in my neck....MRI's show that three or four of my cervical disks have fused --not from surgery..just by the disease process. Sometimes (ok, a LOT of times) my neck just can' t support the weight of me head. So I bought a cervical collar....and it really helps. I wear it probably every day...but not for long periods. I don't want to lose further ROM. Has anyone else worn a cervical collar for PsA or RA?? I had asked my rheumy about getting some braces but he said no, because then the muscles get weak. I don't care about weakness down the road. I want pain relief here and now. Any thoughts? Have you tried a collar? Have braces made any of you weak?
