That is great news Lilac! I am glad you found something that works for you!
I take a couple of supplements, a glucosamine HCL and an antioxidant with a whole bunch of stuff in it, but I attribute my good blood test results to eating a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and staying away from processed foods. I never get colds as a bonus. Also, I exercise and stay moving as much as I can, it seems to boost your system and ability to fight the disease.
I hope it continues for you and you can lead a more normal life!

Thanks for all the nice comments and words of encouragement.

When I started taking the vitamins and supplements back in May I really wondered if they were helping. Then my hubby was off 4th of July week and I didn't take any of my stuff.
By the 5th day I was hurting worse.

I started with a good multi-vitamin and the turmeric capsules. Added the krill. Gradually added a few more things to help with immune function and overall health. If you are going to spend money on vit/supps I would recommend capsules. They are higher quality and are easier to digest. Tablets can make it through the GI tract and come back out pretty much still a tablet (Sorry Yuck but that's a problem with tablets)

I buy most of my stuff at Whole Foods or online at Lucky Vitamin. www.luckyvitamin.com

Have a great day!

Obviously you are taking steps in the right directions. I use supplements myself and find them helpful, along with limiting white flour and sugar and exercising regularly. The ones I find most helpful are : vitamin D3 (I take 2500 mg daily), salmon or fish oil capsules, cherries (fresh or dried, both fight imflamation). I still take my meds. Fight this thing every way you can!

Good news! I should try that too. I just had my Rheumy appt. last Wednesday and with my blood test for the Sed Rate, I was down to 8, so that makes my heart sing! Something's going right! I would love it if some of these alternative meds, like what you've mentioned could actually work to the point of us being able to eliminate some of the strong meds. I'm right on the tip of having to go to biologics and that scares me and we don't have the insurance that would cover the cost! It makes me sick and talk about causing more havoc in my life to cause more inflammation! So I would absolutely love it if I could find something that could do miracles in that dept.!! I was one hurting unit this morning and yesterday without being able to take Tylenol or Aleve and with the MTX being weaned out of my body.......ouch! Thank goodness for the Tramadol the Dr. prescribed for me today and it actually took some of that bite away! Good luck to you and what you've shared is so interesting! Thank you!!

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

I went to the Rheumatologist today and I got my sedrate checked.
(Sedrate is the level of inflammation in your body.) It was 34 back in April and it was 17 today.
17 is only 2 points above the high end of normal. I started taking supplements in May to try and help reduce the inflammation in my body. I've been taking Garden of Life raw vitamin & mineral formula. I also have been taking Blue Bonnet turmeric capsules, Garden of Life Raw Resveratrol capsules (substance found in red wine/grapes) and Schiff Omega Red krill oil soft gels. All three of these supplements target inflammation. I started exercising in July, and making some dietary changes. I have to admit I could be doing better about what I'm eating but I'm still working on staying binge free so I haven't been restrictive about some of the foods I'm eating. (To avoid triggering a deprivation binge) I'm really happy about my test results. WOW! They were even better than I expected.
