Hi, I'm Kara aka Sagemoon and am new to SparkPeople. I think I need to lose about 50 pounds but I am sick of obsessing over weight loss. I came here to concentrate on being healthy and if the weight comes off, so be it. I am an eclectic neo-pagan and am glad to see other pagans here and proud.

Greetings all,

I just joined SparkPeople about 3 months ago, and although I feel I have learned a lot I am still new to everything. I came across your team tonight and I knew that I just had to join. I used to be involved with Pagan celebrations years ago, but our group broke up and I haven't been active since, well in a group anyway.

This is so strange that I found your team as I have been actively seeking for Pagan sites on the web and have come across two good ones. I do not believe in coincidences and am a firm believer that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I am thankful that I found this team and look forward to the interactions.

In peace, Julia emoticon

Hello! My name is Vanessa. I joined Sparkpeople a couple of years ago but have had only sporadic activity. A couple of weeks ago I started seeing a "Healthy Lifestyles" doctor. I'm feeling more motivated than ever to regain my health. I hope to get to know you all as we lift and support eachother.

Hi my name is Sue. I joined Spark about 2 months ago and can't believe the difference it has made both physically and mentally. I'm a confirmed Pagan but would like to learn more through this team.I enjoy meeting new people and ideas. I'm a disabled somewhat recluse ( by choice ). I enjoy all paranormal and nontraditional beliefs. I love learning about different ideas and people. I hope that I can get that from this team.

Hello, I'm Heather. I've been on Spark awhile and I've been successful with losing weight and toning up the visible me, but it's time for me to look deeper inside. I'm still deciding my path. I am of Irish, English, Isle of Mann, & Scandinavian descent, & I love studying Norse, Greek, Roman, & Celtic legends, mythologies, histories & beliefs. I also am interested in Wiccan and Pagan beliefs. I don't know where I fall on the spectrum yet, but I want to learn. I hope I'm welcome to learn and grow here!

HI!

I have been what I am all of this life, making me the hexagon peg in a very big world of squares comfortable in their little holes. I am an elemental, ecclectic witch, who is very happy as a solitary. I do however, love talking with others who can see something beside black and white and the occasional shade of gray so here I am.

Blessings,
Ro

Hello!

I am pagan in the sense that I'm not christian... my faith tends to see truths here and there in eastern religions, Wicca, Egyptian, native American teachings.

I'm kind of a casserole of faith. I greatly enjoy the company of folks who are open to a bit more than black and white / seen or touched without the third eye.

I'm working on loosing a little over 100 lbs... I'm almost at the first 20 lb mark - and I've been unemployed since January... I'm getting ready to climb walls soon.

Thought I'd stop by and say hello.

Hi all,

Stumbled across this group by accident, and since I've been Pagan or Heathen for... well. A while (a lady never tells, right?).

I'm working to lose about 20 pounds (that's my current goal, anyway. We'll see what happens when I get there!).

Hi all. I am diane, 54 years old, pagan who doesn't have any particular brand of learning, just a couple books I read a couple years ago when activated in the military. I was pleasantly surprised to see a pagan group on SP and found you by following silverwitch59 from another group. It seems so strange to me that we can now be open about our life choices instead of closetted.

Bright Blessings to you all. I am glad to have found so many pagans on this site, it's very encouraging to know there is so many of us. I have been pagan all my life My grandmother was what is know as a root doctor. She raised me and taught me spells and such.

I'm 51 years old and have always been told I'm earthy, go figure.

Looking forward to success in my weight loss endeavor.

Hi! I'm 55, I live in Denver, Colorado, and I am a priestess of the Dianic Path. I've been on this path for almost 20 years, having trained under a teacher who was trained by Ruth Barrett, who was trained by Z. Budapest. I am also Wilendorf-identified (LOL), 5 fot 7 and a half, and have a BMI of 47+. I plan on having bariatric surgery soon.... a gastric bypass, after 35 years of yo-yo dieting on almost every plan and fad to come out. My surgeon's dietician recommended SparkPeople, and it's been a life-saver. I track everything here, and just love it. I'm so glad there is are pagan teams that I can belong to.... but it would be nice if there were one specifically for us Dianics. Blessings and love of the Goddess to all of you!

Oh boy! You get to start new! Hurray to you! I am on second marriage - and thank goodness I found a real man, my "practise marriage" (as one aunt called it) SUCKED! I moved from Cali to WI - and wasn't that a shocker for temps - had to make all new friends, left a bunch of friends behind, and it was a scary and exciting time of my life. So don't give up - I may now be fat (although not for much longer), but other than that my life is much better - and I learned a lot. Sucks now, it'll get better. Eventually. Really.

Great way to kick start the loss is circuit training on weights and cardio right after if you can do this. Otherwise a good walk in the morning will do the trick!

Greetings and Merry Meet to all! I am most definitely Pagan, actually Eclectic Witch with Wiccan leanings as I don't always follow the Rede (that's if of course someone ticks me off that much to make me cross that boundary, but not usually often if at all, but it's an option) I am Kimberley,42 year old female with about 140 pounds to lose and glad to meet you all and was hoping some group would be here for me. I've joined other groups but not much happening there, Pagan ones that are here I mean, so I hope this is a busy group well for the most part anyhow.

I live in Vancouver Canada where there are a lot of Pagans but most still live in the broom closet as it seems any stores here that sell wares for us don't last long. Most of us seem to shop online for our books and other witchy wares and use the dollar store for spell supplies like candles and herbs (cooking herbs) etc.

I have a boyfriend who is Agnostic but respects me for my choices and lets me have my ritual time when I remind him even if we're here at my place or at his.

Good to be here.

Hi everyone. I hope this is an active group. It's so nice to have a pagan group here! My name's Lisa and I live in BC Canada. I'm a new mom with weight to lose! My son will be turning 1 in just a few weeks!! Wow! Anyway, just a side note here, I'm not wiccan. I'm more of a Hearth Witch. My husband's not though we both want to raise Luke Pagan. Mike, my hubby, calls himself Pagan but he's just now starting to learn more about it. Myself, I've been Pagan all my life but self dedicated about 15yrs ago. Mike's aunt is also a witch so this is not new to him or his family (which is good cuz I'm not in the closet about it and never wanted to be).
So, that's me. Just wanted to say hello!

Hi, I'm not new anymore, but I always forget to introduce myself. I've been Pagan all my life but never knew it until about 5-6 years ago. My whole world turned upside down then and I'm back on the other side walking a path I can finally believe in! I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Merry Meet! I do not study one method one way, I like to look at my spirituality as a smorgasboard of choices! My belief is that If I believe in one thing, one way, I will shut myself to all the other possibilities. My mother was mentally ill and was drawn like a moth to a flame when it came to TV evangelism... I love reading about Crowley and his cohorts..I have been to a few of the local druid "ceremonies" but am quite sure they were the neighborhood watered down version...I regularly attend Native American rituals including sweat lodge. I adore Kundalini Yoga . and I have had a re -connective healing done and now I am "lined-up" with the lay-lines of the earth...I never appreciate labels, but have really resonated with INDIGO labels...and well, I'm grateful to be here with all of you now!

Hi, my nsame is Heather and I am new. I have been studying the Pagan way for a little over a year, but am still new to all this. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of places where I can go and learn in my area, but I will keep looking. In the meantime, I thought this would be a great place to learn and find my path. Thanks everyone for listening.

Greetings all,

I am so happy to find others like myself here at Spark People. Should have known we get around.....lol
I am 52 yrs old, was raised Mormon until I was 15, had issues and questions and no one could answer me and told me I was going to go to hell cuz I was a girl and asked too many questions. I thought well Hell seems like an okay place compared to where I was so I went looking. During that time the laws on Witchcraft nd the Occult were just beginning to soften and I was luckey enought to find an Occult bookstore tucked away in an old mall in Surrey BC where I grew up. First book I read was Sybil Leek's Diary of a Witch. I was hooked. That is were my journey began 37 years ago. My path has taken me many places both spiritually and physically. In groups and solitary, I been taught and I have taught many paths. I am finally at my desination(I think) I am a Celtic Druid with a group called ADF. It's nice to have a resource but still have freedom to worship in my way. I along with a good friend have developed a small Grove(circle of like minded ppl) called Grove of the Ancient Ways in Central Alberta. She adn I share the responsibility of creating and organizing rites for Holy Days. I quite like it. It feels like home. Bright Blessings to you all.

Greetings!

My name is Lewen, I'm 38, mom to five kids, engaged to "The Bradness", and full-time college student who graduates this year in October! *does happy dance*

I consider myself to be an Eclectic Solitary Pagan with a leaning towards Wicca. I'm still seeking my path and learning. I've been on this journey for about four years now. I love tarot and have about 40 decks with The Greenwood, The Druidcraft and The Robin Wood being my favorite so far.

I have about 75 pounds I need to lose (about ten pounds per pregnancy, courtesy of my children) and the 20 from me because I've been lazy.

I need to drink more water and cut out the diet coke in my life *sobs* but small steps. It will be done.

I hope to make some friends around these boards and would like to encourage others to reach their dreams. It can be done, it will be done.

Blessings to all,
Lewen

But in the last few weeks I have been home bound, I also live in the middle of now where, and I have become bored , so I eat... all the time..So I decided it was time to really become part of the spark team, and see if I can lose this weight.

Merry Meet. I go by Lady Amethyst Wynter or some variation. I have been on SP for almost 2 weeks. I have been interested in Pagan ways for years. My older sister has been very involved for a long time. I think in the long run I would be a solitary practioner just due to time and all other obligations. I read what I can and do what I can. But when most of the people you are around are not Pagan it makes it so difficult to follow. Soon I should be able to free up more time as my daughter becomes less dependant on me for everything.
Blessed Be

Hello all you beautiful pagans! I am "rejoining" Spark after a long break prompted by my Dad's death. Been vegan for almost a year now...I have been following my own eclectic pagan Path for about 5 years..major focus is on green witchcraft, caring for the earth, Junigan spirituality (especially archetypal Tarot), and a smattering of Edgar Cayce, and basically using my time here to ease the suffering of others whenever I have the opportunity to do so. I started at 160, am now upper mid 130's with a goal of about 115-120 (I'm a shorty!) I plan on this body carrying my soul around for a lot of years yet, so I need to get it in wonderful shape so my years are not unnecessarily cut short, or worse...filled with pain, discomfort and illness. Be Blessed!

Well ok,
My name is Beth; I'm 30 years old and have 3 children with my ex-husband and 3 step-children, ranging in ages from 5 to 21.

I work as a receptionist at a vet clinic, run a non-profit exotic animal rescue agency and love all animals, especially herps.

I've been on a Pagan path for 5 years now, though like many I sensed early on in my life that what I was being taught in the Baptist religion just didn't mesh with what I felt.

I love to study herbalism, crystals, genealogy and I work with OBE and lucid dreaming occasionally. I have several tattoos, love to read, and am starting to feel good about myself again.

Blessed Be

Beth :)
I may wander, but I am not lost.

Hello all! I'm a returning SP member (keep falling off the wagon, a few times over) and new to the pagan path. I've been carrying around an extra 40-50 pounds for 15 years or so and keep trying to find the right motivation and commitment to take (and keep!) it off. So here I go again! :)

As far as my beliefs go, I was a Christian for many years, with hundreds of questions and doubts and that "this isn't ME" feeling. I started on a quest for my true beliefs about 2 years ago and was blown away by the pagan perspective. Finally, a way of thinking and living that makes 100% sense to me! Woo hoo! I'm definitely ecclectic at the moment, still learning so much and sorting out where I want to go. It's been an exciting journey so far!

Merry Meet! Newby to Sparks and happy to find pagan teams. I am a longtime practicing and learning natural, green, solitary, kitcheny sorta Witch. I don't follow any one path.

I too gained weight when I was pregnant with my third child. Did ok with the first two, that last one fattened me up. I made it up over 150 and decided that was it. No more! So I have been working on it and am down to a 143 and have been maintaining. But I don't think 120 is too much to ask. So here I am.

Look forward to getting to know and supporting you all in your own goals.

Hi I'm Brian. I'm 21 year old nursing student in Ga. I"m currentlyI've been studying the path for about 8 years now. I've made the commitment to make myself healthier. I currently weigh 350.2 lbs and have a 48% body fat. I want to have at least 20% less body fat by this time next year.(Body fat percentage is a better way to track healthy weight loss.) I'm quitting smoking and slowly managing to balance nursing school, home life, spirituality, and the pursuit of health. Anything else anyone wants to know just ask me!

Hello, my name is Tiffani. I am a 40 year old pre-operative M - F transsexual; I live in a small bachelor apartment, in downtown Toronto, with my lovely nine year old chocolate point Siamese cat, Misha.

Even though I have been living in Toronto for many years, I have always felt more at home outside the city, and dearly miss being able to wander around the countryside, especially in wilderness areas, where I could interact with the flora and fauna in their natural habitats, where there is little chance of interruption (note: if I get the chance to do this, I must remember to leave my cell phone behind somewhere. LOL!)

I have been interested in alternative spiritualities for a long time, primarily Wicca and Paganism but also, to a limited extent, Shamanism.

To this date, I have had limited interactions with other Wiccans and Pagans here in Toronto, although I have been attending local moots for several months now. Most of my interactions with other Wiccans and Pagans have been online.

I am primarily interested in learning about herbalism and healing; the reason for this is due to my being sensitive or allergic to many medications, including most cold and allergy medications, which makes dealing with my allergies, whether seasonal or year round, rather difficult at times.

I also have a strong interest in Greek and Norse mythology, a bit of an interest in Celtic mythology, and would like to learn from others, especially those of you who follow a path based on any of these three mythologies.

Last but not least, I am interested in learning whatever I can related to spirit guides, and learning from and interacting with my own spirit guides (timber wolf, black bear, white-tailed deer, and goshawk {often referred to in North America as the northern goshawk}).

Hello Pippi,

Welcome to the Team.

I don't think there is a "traditional" pagan. I think pagan means people who do not believe in Judeo-Christian monotheism and religion. By that definition, Buddhists and Hindus etc, are pagan.

Loosing weight requires a lot of patience, strength, and forgiveness. i'm sure there are other qualities which help too. Those come to my mind first because that is what I'm struggling with.

Hello everyone,
alright so figured I'd introduce myself finally,
My name is Pippi, I am not a traditional pagan but I dabble a little bit in everything. I have been part of a coven before and unfortunately that didn't end so well so I practice mostly as a solitaire now. I never had a strong urge to perform rituals so most of my practices are internal in the form of meditation, although at certain times I will perform something more elaborate to get my focus going. I am mostly drawn to Norse and Egyptian lore and mythos so if i call upon any deities it is generally from there. But most of the time i never personify the god and goddess with a name, I hardly even call them God and Goddess, i use an unspoken term that I don't have the physical capacity to actually vocalize or put in writing. Most of my communication and practices are done through the stars and the moon while meditating. Anyway I guess i am rambling again emoticon . I am glad to "meet" you all and I hope we can all share a lot of good insight and support on all of our separate journeys through life and weight loss.

Welcome Chris,

Get any group of people together, politics seems to fallow. No matter how well intentioned it just seems to happen and it always sucks. It keeps me from attending much of my local open ceremonies as well. It sucks my enjoyment right out of it.

Hello all, I'm Chris. I have been pagan for most of my life. I am eclectic and mostly a lone practioner. I was with the pagan community in my area until backstabbing and politics made it uncomfortable to attend. I feel somewhat isolated now, but alot closer to my path. Oh, I also have 4 kids.

Welcome Jen,

I trained in a very strict Celtic Traditional coven. However, I get more eclectic with each passing year. Everything is so much more open than it was 35 years ago, it would be a shame (if not down right anti-Celt) not to take advantage of the wealth of information, experience and ideas that are available.

My name is Jennie, self dedicated several years ago and am on a learning path. I'm leaning mostly towards celt, but mostly what works works type of pagan. I'm involved in a couple of groups here in Anchorage (Alaska). We have a wonderful group up here, unfortunately, our society is very fluid, so new faces come, old faces go . . .

I've been on an attempt to a healthy lifestyle most of my adult life (48 yo). I had a lapband and lost a whopping 200 lbs when it slipped for the second time and had to be permantely removed in 2005. I still stand behind the band 100%, but just one of the 5% that won't tolerate it. I'm 20 lbs short of regaining it all back, so It's TIME TO GET WITH IT GIRL.

Sorry, I get long-winded. With the guidance and strength of our lady, I'll do it this time . .

Jen

Just a quick hello. *smiles* I am Amethyst and I have been with SP since January. I love the site and have made some dear friends here in the months since I joined.

I have been on my this leg of my journey for 8 years now and am happier than I have ever been! I lean towards the Celtic path, however I love and enjoy learning as much as I can get my hands on of every path and learning of all the Goddesses and Gods.

I could go into a really good ramble(which I am known for*grins*) but will stop here and just say Hi!

Lifeís easier when you can write off others as monsters, as demons, as horrible threats that must be hated & feared. The thing is, you canít do that without becoming them, just a little.

MM and BB Everyone,

Name is Nyx Wolfwalker (yes its my birth name) and I've been walking my path for over 20 years now, I am active to various degrees with my local pagan community (though not as active as I have been in the past).

I run a pagan site called PathWalkers.Net and have been running it for several years now, though have had to rebuild it from ground up one to many times thanks to hackers and the like - grumbles.

Well take care everyone
Nyx

Hi, Iím know as Cijan in the Denver Pagan Community. I have been following a traditional Celtic Path for the last 35 years, high priestess for the last 20. Been on SP for a couple of weeks now & was beginning to think I was the only Pagan here. So glad thatís not true!
