Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your anxiety attacks. They sound awful scary. When and individual is having a panic attack, there is a sense of floating out of the body and feeling attacked or unsafe. I like the idea of using a stone. In the past I have used a "worry stone," which is a smooth small stone you can hold in your hand and feel the smoothness when you are anxious. Stones are our Earth Mother's gifts to us to remind us we are of the earth as well.

Another grounding tool is to touch your face or neck and feel your solidness. Take in a slow deep breath as shallow breathes make us fearful and deplete us of oxygen and keeps us from exhaling the toxic gases.

Another grounding method I use quite often is to have a mantra or positive affirmation to remind myself that I am safe. Some examples may be "The Universe always provides for me and I am safe and secure," or "I am calm, safe and protected." Louise L. Hayes has written many books about healing yourself with affirmations. You might want to check out some of her books which can be found in the "self-help" section in the major book-store chains.

My best to you in overcoming your fear. This is none of my business, but sometimes unresolved abuse from childhood or early adulthood can result in panic or anxiety attacks. I would suggest finding a trusted therapist and see if that is a possibility. There are wonderful therapeutic techniques available for those with anxiety. There are also medicines available if this becomes unbearable. First I would check a health food store and see what they have available for "calming." I have even used "Bach Flower Rescue Remedy" before and it has helped.

You might want to keep an anxiety journal. Look for patterns for your attacks. Is it something more that being in small places? Just a thought.

My best to you and let us know how you are doing.

I think healing stones, stones that ease anxiety, worry and fear, promote calm & clarity will really help you to gain a handle long enough to combat the felings you're having. Sometimes all you need is a little fortification, a little boost to your own natural defenses. So here we go:

Blue Lace Agate- Calming, reduces anxiety
Aquamarine- Peace, balance, purification, emotional healing
Adventurine (white variety)- Calming, clarity
Jasper- Protective, nurturing
Pink Manganocalcite- called the "Reiki Stone," calming, healing for the body and spirit. Eases anxiety
Pyrite- Eases anxiety, calms, protects, cleanses you of negativity
Blue Quartz- Eases worry

There are plenty more, but most of these are readily found and it's a great start to your own "mojo bag." If you can, try to find the Pink Manganocalcite. I really think that one will help you.

With stone work, I'm often reminded of the quote "It works, if you work it." Believe in your stones; they'll give you the boost you need. Have faith and give it a shot. I hope this helps you out & good luck with everything. Let me know how this works if you try it! emoticon

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this. I wanted to turn you on to a little practice that I use whenever I'm facing difficulties, insecurities, fears or anxieties. It's more accessible in a scattered mindframe than lighting candles or making tea. I actually carry at least one with me at all times, just in case :)

My suggestion is this: Make a little bag and place in stones that are purposely chosen to help you banish or counter your fear or negative emotion. I have a bag for insecurity, one for my fear of heights (which can make stairs nearly impassable for me at times), one for romantic fear, etc. When I feel that fear or anxiety rising, I pull out my little "mojo bag" pour them in my hand or just pull out one of two. When they're all in my hand, I feel which one is just right. It will either feel much heavier than the rest (heavier than it should for its size), or it will be warm, or it will just "feel right." I pull those from the pack and take a few moments to just close my eyes and focus on the energies of those selected stones. Once the anxiety has passed, I place them back in the bag and cleanse them when I get home to make sure they don't hold onto that energy I gave them to help me with.

I carry the bags in my purse, but some days if I know I will encounter a situation that could bring up some negativity, I just go ahead and put it in my pocket. Give me a few minutes and I'll give you some stone ideas with their magickal uses.

Hey, everyone.

I posted this on one of my other SparkTeams, but I want to get as much help as I can with this. I have claustrophobia - the fear of small spaces. The thing with this fear is that I don't have to be physically in a small space - I could be thinking of being trapped (in an emotional or physical sense) and I'll start becoming fearful.

The problem I have isn't exactly with the claustrophobia itself. It's what happens when I start to panic. I feel like I can't move anywhere, and I start to feel like I can't breath. I begin hyperventalating, trying to get myself to feel like I'm breathing again.

I need ideas on how I can help myself relax. I do drink calming teas, but when I'm in that situation I am generally not in a place (or in a state of mind) where I can make myself a cup of tea and take a few minutes to calm down. I haven't passed out yet from hyperventalating, but I feel that it's only a matter of time before it happens.

Any help is appriciated.

Brightest Blessings,
Mary
