hello i have not been on here lately. I have been going to the gym whenever i can since i have a strange work schedule. I did about 40 hours of working out today at the gym. I am also planning on going to the gym tomorrow to work out with the trainer. I was doing good with not drinking soda but last couple days i started to drink it again. I do notice a difference in trying to lose weight when you dont have anyone to workout with or help keep you motivated.

I had a pretty good day. Feeling pretty positive about being able to battle the bulge. I have decided to make healthy cooking a hobby for a while. :)

Happy Wednesday. Finally the sun has broke through the clouds. But still have the cold temps. So, wanting to exercise outside but can't handle the cooling temps. I am sticking with the gym to exercise. Having some stress to relieve from yesterdays situations.
Keep the sun out,

I woke up restless this morning so I'm running my laundry. I did so urban backpacking yesterday. I walked close to two hours instead of taking a bus with my shopping on my back. I enjoyed my water aerobics class.
I tried on clothes yesterday and I'm between a size 0 and size 1/2. The size 1 or size 2 fits better since the size 0 is a little tight in the waist. I love how the size 0 fits on my bum but I don't like the tightness near the waist. I'm looking forward to the summer and trying on shorts.
After my laundry is run, I'll go to the Y and do a muscle conditioning class and maybe even a Zumba class at noon.

It's been hard the last few days. I haven't been keeping track of my water and food intake. I am having a hard time keeping a smile on my face. It is nice to be able to just type stuff here and not worry about what people will think. I have a wonderful family and they are very supportive but they really don't understand. Sometimes I don't even want to talk to my psych about how I feel. I know that tomorrow will be a better day. I will keep on looking for the bright side of things. Sometimes it is just hard to believe what you know is truth. God will help me get through. I know because He always does.

So often when I try to suggest options to others it is a note to myself. Such as Communicate Geography is a start as in did you get snowed on. Are your grand children close? We have all been lost or we would not be on this team. Kudos for checking in . Getting of the couch has been a problem for me , some times just getting to the computer is a win.

A good friend of mine, who is in many ways my polar opposite, gently and smilingly chided me for frowning. "You know you'd feel better if you'd put on that beautiful smile of yours," he said. I furrowed my brow more at the thought - I knew he was right, but couldn't figure out why I didn't want to smile. "You're thinking about it too much - just smile."
I did... and I've been trying to remember to smile everyday ever since. It really does feel better. If you think about it, I bet you can find at least one thing to smile about.

Hi everyone, I am also new to the group. I can really relate to you Miss39, on being lost and feeling hopeless. I have been feeling this way for sometime. I am 45. I feel like it is wasting my life but when I get in the middle of my depression I don't know how to pull myself out. I am looking forward to learning new things and ideas on this team so I can pull myself out. I can't rely on medication and I have not had the best of luck finding a descent therapist. So, I know it's up to me. I don't want to live like this. Sad, crying, and down all the time but anyone knows that has depression, sometimes it doesn't feel like a choice. It just is.

Hi everyone, I hope that today is a really good day for all. I am still struggling but keeping a smile on my face and a song in my heart, thanks to two of my spark friends, is helping to boost my spirits. I am hoping for a productive day. Tomorrow is my therapy appointment and I hope that is a good session too.
Sleepypanda, are you drinking your water? do you measure and weigh your food? That can help when it comes to portion size. Also, using a smaller plate and eating with a salad fork (smaller fork) can help keep portions under control and less food going into your mouth at a time. It extends the time it takes to eat a meal. Extending the time it takes to eat the meal gives your brain time to realize that you are becoming sated and hopefully you will eat less. These are things that help me.
Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb

Today started out negative but got better with a little help from my friends ;) Gotta love the Beatles, right?
I'm struggling with starting to eat healthier. I have a healthy breakfast and lunch, but at dinner I tend to overindulge after the work day. Does anyone have any tips for this?
The last two days I haven't worked out :( I've felt too stressed and caught up with personal and family issues. And I know that exercise will help alleviate that stress but I keep telling myself I'm too tired. I need to be tougher with myself.
Hoping to have a productive week.

Right when you think you have problems you can see other people have larger ones. This child will be in my prayers and so will all her love ones. God loves the little children and my prayer is that she will be healed in every way.
Also praying for the guy to get his job.
God will help this person and will help him find the right church community, I suppose I can understand your apprehension because maybe I may feel the same but God has put him in your church for a reason. He will be clean and made whole if all are patient with him.

I haven't made a post in a couple of days as I've been preoccupied with some thoughts regarding improving my condition. 1 - Eating more seems to have given me the energy I needed to progress on my psychological / spiritual journey. 2 - A friend of mine posted an article on fb (3 years old, but still awesome) the other day about The Red Book by Carl Jung that was just published for the first time in 2009. Although the book is too expensive for me to purchase now, and I can't seem to find a copy in my local libraries, it inspired me to find some Jung writings online to read. 3 - I allowed myself to "obsess out" & spent an entire night reading Jung's writing on personality theory. 4 - That night, I had a dream in which my subconscious self appeared to me and indicated that it would like to help me. 5 - The next morning, I commented to some friends that I believed I had fallen in love with Jung's writing; one of them recommended that I read Joseph Campbell. 6 - After some research and determining to find some Joseph Campbell at the local library this week, I revisited my MBTI description and the "Growth" section on personalitypage.com. 7 - I have come to realize that I've been allowing my dominant function to "subjugate" my other functions, to the point of self-detriment. 8 - I now have a better foundation for dealing with my depression, OCD, anxiety, etc.
I feel as though I am transforming... And it is a good feeling.

I am on day 11 with soda reduction. It is snowing and my anxiety is starting to spike right now. I am not sure if it is because of the fact that it is snow and I need to leave out or if it is due to the fact that I am told that I am not moving fast enough with my room and that I have to lose weight since the medicade is going to be having more issues where I will need to be paying out of pocket for a lot of different things that last year and this year I will not need to do. I do not have the conditions yet, but some of them tend to happen in my family at a late age.

Good evening everyone, Please pray for a 7 year old Emma in our community. She has a lump on the brain and found that out after doing a cat scan. She was having a hard time seeing. The eye specialist came in and looked at her. EVerything is fine there. THey are going to do another MRI tomorrow and compare the two. Her mom is an old high school friend of mine.
Please pray for a friend of mine. He was laid off of the job he had. Now he is putting in applications everywhere hoping to get a good job.
Praise Dad's arm has finally healed enough for him to go back to work.
Robert and I went to church today and it was kinda weird. I didn't know until the Pastor started telling a story. The person who was sitting next to me wad released from prison this weekend. Eric said I would like everyone to welcome this person into our family. Eric said that none of the other churches wanted him. He didn't say what he was sent to prison for. It still made me feel uncomfortable. I know we are to love one another no matter what the person has done.
The rest of the day went well. I did one load of dishes and two loads of clothes. I still have a mountain of both to do to get caught up. I wish now that I would have gone ahead and did a load of each every day.
Tomorrow starts back to the normal routine with school starting back. So my plan is to take Robert to school and then hit the gym for strength training and cardio. After that go to Russellville to pay some bills .
I hope everyone has a good evening with whatever you do.
Until next time,
Sharon

Hello all,
Just checking in today. My appointment with my doctor is April 5. I know she will want to discuss my sugar levels as well as my depression. I am doing better. I am in less pain today as I was during the week.
Nas- thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it.
Deb- That is what we are here for and we will always be there for you.
Hope you all are well. I am waiting for snow,

Hi everyone, Just popping in to say that I appreciate all the support that I have gotten from my Spark friends while I have been feeling crummy. Your comments and goodies helped to make my week and I am grateful for all the help. I am still not feeling my best. I'm just going through some hard therapy sessions that are dredging up emotions that I thought were long gone. Obviously, I still have work to do issue wise. My therapist is new, so it is slow going on my part. Thanks again for all the support. Today is a fairly nice day out for Spring in Oregon. It is partly cloudy and in the upper 40's right now with no chance of rain. Woo Hoo!! I think that I will get out of the house on a long walk today and take advantage of the sun, if I can find some free time. If not, then I will take the baby with me. It's too good of a day to waste inside. My daughter is on Spring Break right now, which should free up some time for Mom to go for a walk alone. I can really use a break from babysitting today. I don't think that Jeni has to go to work too early today, so there should be some time. I hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb

Hey all,
Just got home from cleaning the rectory. I did a lot of heavy lifting and trash today so counted it as heavy cleaning. I am always amazed that while cleaning, you walk so many miles. I am off next week except for Monday and looking forward to a break. I can finally get to the Y and use the weight machines. I got a free membership as a perk from one of my jobs.
Sharon- I am so happy that Robert is better. Will keep him in my prayers
Onicam- Do not sweat it. Just bank your points and eat less at dinner or count it as snack. I have done that when I want to treat myself.
Old and Sloe- I am so proud of you that you are helping out your dad. I hope he is better. Good to see you here. We miss you.

I splurge every once in awhile on something sweet but I have been doing very good this week I think. Chemo killed my taste for soda but once in awhile I just have to have one. I have started drinking tea again. I have been trying to avoid the sweet tea but sometimes it's hard. I hope that everyone is well today.

Good evening everyone, I want to say to everyone who for my son. Robert is now 36 hours fever free and looking forward to tomorrow. I have gained a couple of pounds this week. But I haven't worked out any this week either. I haven't worked in the house either.
So now I feel like I can leave Robert at home with his dad and go to the fitness center. Hopefully I can get the extra off and continue to lose weight and get back on track.

Haven't checked in for a long time. I am doing OK. I have been terribly busy taking care of my elderly dad. He needs me there with him right now and so I am there. I have no internet at his house. He is getting stronger and able to transfer himself from one place to another. he has gained a few lbs. He really needs to gain weight, He has no appetite so it is a battle to find things he will eat.
Hope everyone is doing OK. To our new members welcome. This is a wonderful place with lots of friends and support available. God bless you all.

I've started waking up in the AM lately, but it's cold out. I think I'm going to have to bundle up for my walks.

I have taken care of some stuff, fell asleep, and worked with my anxiety with one of my sponsors. She is slowly getting me through some of my fears. So far I am staying on track.

Hi all,
I had the most awesome experience today. I hiked with one of my clients today. We climbed boulders in a stream that has waterfalls. We hike trails. He was so supportive and helpful to me being a novice. I got to see the glorious power of water. He finally told me that he would support me in my fitness and shared his own weight loss journey. It was so beautiful I almost was in tears. It was a blessing of day for me. I hiked with him for 90 minutes total including breaks to we had to take to navigate the rocks.

Laura & Sharon - sorry to hear your kiddos are sick! Hang in there & I hope you feel better.
Pam - I just figured out why my carbs have been so high... Root beer! (Evil sugary goodness.) I'm going to have to find a healthier alternative.
Deb - hang in there. Smiling definitely helps, even when it feels almost impossible!
I'm excited - I actually got up (and felt awake!) before the clock switched over to PM. A small step for sure, but after so many days of *not* feeling "up and at 'em" until late afternoon and early evening, a very welcome small step.
I also just switched over to a "new" med & dosage... Now taking the Venlafaxine XR (instead of IR) & seem to be tolerating it pretty well. Next week my dose goes up to 150 & I should get to see the norepinephrine reuptake action at that dosage... Hopefully it will help with some of the sleepiness issues & I'm pretty confident it will help a great deal with my depression & OCD.
Woot!

Hello. I had a bad day yesterday. I went off track and had a cherry coke. Of course this was the end of the day when I had no more calories available so I went over by 200 or so calories. I keep telling myself that isn't bad. I did get my exercise in so that is a positive. Today is a much better day. Going to surprise my hubby with a yummy dinner for our anniversary Pam

Sending to everyone. My son has been sick for quite awhile as well. It all started in his head and went to his chest. Now it is back to his head again. He can't seem to catch a break. The medicine he is on has made him constipated. My son does not take being sick very well. Last night, he was complaining of his stomach hurting and threw up. It was all mucus. I am trying not to let it get me down but I feel helpless for his. Just praying for a light at the end of the tunnel for him.
Hope everyone is able to see that

Hi everybody, Just dropping in to say a quick hello. I've been isolating lately due to my severe depression. Thank God for therapists. We are working through some pretty painful issues and it has been a hard couple of months. I am seeing some of the rainbow now though. I hope that things keep improving, so that I can pull completely out of this funk. I would like to start thinking clearly again. I just got finished with a medication review and they didn't see the need to change any of my meds, just the dosages. Hopefully that will make a positive difference. I need my "happy" back. Sending all the positive energy that I can and hugs to all that need them. I hope that the week is pleasant for all. Take care and God bless, Deb

Good evening everyone, I have been up most of last night taking care of my 13 year old. Last week my husband brought home a bug from school. My son caught the bug last night and I have been up every 4 hours to check temp. Not a great start to the spring break. I heard that this bug can last up to 6 weeks. I hope not.
I hope everyone has a good evening with whatever you do.

Did 35 minutes with leslie sansone and did resistance band with the arm portion to give me my upper body workout as well. Feeling good after exercise. Restocked with healthy foods. Enjoying a day off and doing laundry.
Made an appointment to see my doctor on April 5 to talk to her about body aches and tingling.

Since I have started the 21 Day Chopra Meditation Challenge, when I get the slightest bit stressed or angry, I try to remember what I have learned and breathe. I have started my journal again after the meditation session. It seems to help during some of my stressful times of the day. Along with exercises, I feel at peace when I tend to get stressed.
Hope everyone has a bright and festive day,
Laura

Had salad lettuce and spinach and a little meatloaf for dinner. A half a glass of wine for dinner Been doing 8 cups of water but it makes it hard to sleep through the night. Making lasagna with squash as an extra.
We like the new renters so turned the washer and dryer back on as they said no problem raising the price to $ 2 each. $200 ish for a new main.

I had a couple of rough days - I let myself get distracted with "trying to get things done", and neglected to eat for some time yesterday... Then felt stressed about all of it and stayed in bed for a long time today.
I've been feeling even sleepier than usual (seems to happen when I get stressed). But I ate a good dinner tonight and have at least been staying within boundaries on my calories. It's possible that some of that sleepiness is coming from the low amount of protein in my diet (started noticing that when I started tracking my intake here).
Speaking of which - I also have a hard time eating large chunks of meat. Although I did pretty well tonight. Skirt steak is pretty yummy (though mine was cut thin enough that I could eat it easily).

Hi all,
I soak my corned beef in ginger ale. It does reduce the salt content.

That is the nature of corned beef unfortunately, corned in this case referring to corns of salt used in the curing process.
It might be that you would need to soak for 24 hours and change out the water halfway through.
Even so, there are loads of lovely cuts of beef that do well for being cooked long and slow.

Happy Monday everyone,
Having a very busy morning with work due to a early meeting at my son's school. It is parent/teacher conference and got it out of the way early. Got some good praise from my son's homeroom teacher. He said that my son has matured since the beginning of the year. Made me very happy to hear that. My prayers for him are slowly being answered.
Hope everyone continues to have a very happy week,
Laura

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone, Spring break started Saturday . My son says don't forget to wear GREEN today.
We went to church this morning to do four that we are going to 4 services. The pastor came up to me and asked if my 13 could help with the 1st to 5th graders and also we need an extra parking attendant. He asked if Robert could help with that also. I sure those are two areas that Robert has been wanting to help with. Eric said we need you to step up also and help with the pre k and k class. He said that the teacher back there hasn't been able to attend the service because no one will step up and take her place in the second service. I told him I would think about it.
I hope everyone has a Happy Saint Patrick's Day with whatever you do. And may you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

Hello all, I'm having a bit of insomnia (my sleep schedule has been an ongoing issue, but my therapist said I shouldn't stress out about it for now). But hey, I'm getting some work done & finally working up the courage to check in.
Doing pretty well with my calorie intake, and making sure not to go overboard with the exercise. I gave myself a couple of days to rest after my last exercise since I was feeling really tired. But I'm going later today to walk and swing. By the way, if anyone here has been having a hard time getting motivated to exercise, swinging totally rocks. Looking forward to my endorphin rush later today!

Hello all,
Feeling a littel better but still have lingering and ongoing pain in my joints. It is especially bad in my hands, elbows, and wrists. Also my neck. My family has been talking to me about going to the doctor to see if something is wrong but I have chronic pain with my chronic fatigue.
Exercised today while cleaning. Did strength by doing squats instead of bending over and I did chair pushups and lunges. Walked 5 miles today while cleaning the rectory.
Hope you all have a good day

LAWOLFRAM - Great job on working out consistently! Don't overdo it though... we all need a break sometimes. Walking still counts, so give yourself credit. :)
I splurged and went to a proper running store and got new sneakers a couple weeks ago - what a difference! It totally took away my knee aches.
I took yesterday off from work and wow, what a great idea that was... I spent the day with my husband and it was really nice. I didn't look at my work email even once. Was really able to relax. Needed that so badly!

Thanks for the advice. I have some plans in place to assist my son for the last couple of months and for his time in High School. Now, he is sick again with his Asthma and allergies. Hate it when a child is sick. But have to go forward and do the best I can for him.
Hope everyone has a very blessed and sunny weekend,
