Hi JATSMOTHER - welcome to SP and welcome to our Team. You have come to a good place for support as you attempt to quit smoking AND lose weight at the same time. Those are two BIG steps in your life at the same time and because of this could impact on your depression more than you realize.
Take your time to look around the site and read the articles. You may find that when your son is with his Dad, by reading the articles it will take your mind of things more than you realize. I know many of us, me included, have forgotten about meals while engaged here - LOL!
The other thing that you can do that is very helpful, is to take advantage of being on your own, and going for a walk out in the fresh air. It gives you a chance to think (hopefully GOOD thoughts) and to plan. OR you can take your music with you and enjoy that, OR an audio book! Many people 'read' books this way, killing two birds with the one stone!
