Naps are good, you must've needed it!

Thunder off in the background so someone is getting their lawn watered, not us though.

Nitey Nite...nothing interesting on this end of town.

Haha! Yes, it was First Watch in Hendersonville. I actually took a short nap before I went. And then I came home with the intention of hanging around in the pool. Was in there all of 30 minutes when the landscaper showed up. We don't normally communicate with him since we are at work all day so I had no idea he was coming. He was there until late afternoon and I was pretty disappointed because I couldn't do the pool - it was nice inside though, I finished my book and got a few things done around the house. I feel like even though heat index of 100 (which it was when I checked late yesterday afternoon) is better than 108 (which it was last week), it is still hot and miserable and not good for running.

I saw First Watch and said I'll meet you there then I realized you aren't talking about Hermitage!

It actually felt good last night, today not so much as the sun comes around. Anything has got to be better than the past week or so.

Enjoy your day off!

Dew point and thus the temperature are down a tiny bit today. I am off so I got up even earlier than usual (haha) and went to the Y for the circuit training class. After my shower I am headed to First Watch I think.

It's hot hot hot. They say we will get a bit of relief from this heat and humidity over the next few days but it will still be hot and humid...just a tiny bit less, haha. It is pretty oppressive out there.

We went and did some errands this morning, laundry is done, groceries are done, so I am just cleaning up my desk and cleaning up around here. I wouldn't mind going out to the pool but I got too much sun yesterday so I might wait until the sun isn't as high.

Hahaha, did you hear me laughing Kelly when I read your post about the wiper transmission! That is so funny. Glad we BOTH didn't have to have our transmissions fixed, only our wiper transmissions!

Kelly, Culver's is just another fast food joint but they do have good concrete mixers. Actually I don't mind their burgers, not too bad and they have crinkle fries and good cheese curds that I like but you know I try to stay away from that food as much as possible. I don't like their chicken at all!

We ate a new place by the office yesterday, called Pizza Rev, a build your own pizza place kind of like Pie Five. I like the crust (gluten free for me) better than Pie Five but yes, it was expensive! I think it was $11 for a personal pizza, gluten free, the regular crusts aren't as much. It's on West End down close to my office.

Anyway, not much going on here, the official marathon training started today at Fleet Feet, it's hotter than blazes and when I got home I jumped right into the pool and stayed a while!

Did you hear me laughing Gloria when you mentioned your wiper transmission? When the mechanic came out to give me the news, all I heard him say was transmission...me: whoa, I brought the car in for the wipers taking a powder why are you him: laughing and picked up the part that was broken plus what he meant by transmission. Oh, never mind, sorry. Better it be that transmission being so far away from home. I will tell you though, if you go to a preferred AAA garage, they are required to really check out the fluids in the car and the timing belt, etc. I had the car serviced before leaving and they have always given it a once over. This place not only checked the levels but the quality of everything. So glad they did, the coolant is just about on it's last leg and the timing belt is ok but way overdue for an overahul. So into the slush fund I go, can't complain whoa nellie has been a great car as far as maintenance goes. I actually thought I'd find a place to stay for a few extra days and have them do it, but I just wanted to get home.

I have never been to Culvers, there was one next to the Holiday Inn I stayed at on the way back but it was 9pm by the time I got in and did not feel like walking over. If their idea of salad is iceberg then I'm glad I didn't. Sure did not want a heavy anything at that hour. I had a great lunch in Branson at a place next to Bass Pro and owned by Brass Pro, so with my snacks to eat on the road I was okay but starved by morning. Actually had never heard of Culvers until the trip when I saw a few on the roadside. That is disappointing and it frustrates the daylights out of me that they are so blinking expensive.

What I read from declutter experts is to set a timer for 15 minutes, tackle it 15 minutes at a time. I've done that a few times but like you, I get side tracked. Oh look squirrels and birds and things.

Hope you had a great anniversary Gwenn in spite of the heat!

Got in the frame of mind to de-clutter last night and I started going through the cabinet in the master bathroom. Got rid of a lot, will try to get rid of more. I get in these moods and if I could just stick with it and go through the whole house...but I always get side-tracked by work hours.

Husband wanted Culver's last night...I've decided to let him pick what he wants on Thursdays and to keep my mouth shut. I ended up with a iceberg lettuce salad....ugh, I hate iceberg lettuce and no protein there! I ate a bit of the salad and he was so happy with his fried cod and fries so it was worth it.

Back a few years ago the transmission went out on the wipers on my old Saturn...didn't even know wipers had a transmission! It wouldn't have been much to fix if we could have done it on our own but of course we didn't know how.

Meningitis, yikes, that is scary! Does everyone have to get tested or something? I haven't been impressed with Udi's either. I got some gluten free bagel thins to eat before my long runs, I can't remember the brand, but they are made of rice flour I think and are not too bad. I get the Van's gluten free frozen waffles too, but honestly, I eat that stuff so rarely...just mostly try to stick with whole foods, those are just nice conveniences and treats every now and then.

Happy anniversary Gwenn! I've never done a whole day at the spa, not sure I could handle that much at once, haha!

We've got a ton of deer in our neighborhood. A lot of people want them gone, want them euthanized. I loved them, though I am terrified I might hit one (remember, I grew up in Michigan which has the highest rate of car/deer accidents in the U.S.). They make me happy and I am glad to see them. It's illegal to intentionally feed them but I guess we have good things to eat in our yard....I don't think they can do too much damage to the shrubbery and plants we have, so that's okay with me. Last night a mama jumped over the fence and had dinner, left her baby in the neighbor's yard. This morning out front there was a mama with twins and a young buck with antlers. They were resting. So pretty!

Happy Anniversary Gwenn!!! Those are awesome gifts you two gave each other, hmmm couples spa time. I don't know a guy who would do a spa anything, although I do see more of them doing pedi's. Let us know if he shares it with you. I keep forgetting about edible arrangements, they do beautiful work.

WOW on the building health scare! Hope the patient has a speedy recovery. At least he got to stay home. Maybe you'll connect with someone else in the office now, two days a week is hard all around.

AAA offered me a step up from the gold which gave a longer towing distance, I forgot about it figured I wouldn't need it (knowing full well I had at least 2 long road trips coming and 16 yr old wheels), now I'm thinking I may up the ante and add it. That drive through Missouri is country for sure, although the two main highways very well could pass as interstates without a whole lot of population.

Welcome back Kelly! Sorry to hear about the car issue though but glad you were able to get it fixed. I've been with AAA for like 15 years and I may have called them once. Sometimes I think I'll just pass on the membership when it rolls around again to renew but then I do it because I know my car is really old.

Gloria, I'm not a fan of Udi's at all. I know some restaurants use their GF buns and they taste disgusting to me. Hey, at least they ordered GF! I need to make more of an effort to eat GF, I was before. Anyway, our front receptionist was always good about trying to order some healthy options and sometimes GF but she just took a new job and will be gone after next week. I am very sad because she is like the only person I really talk to there. At least I'm only there 2 days a week!

Today is our 4 year anniversary and we are about to head out for happy hour! Super hot out through the weekend too. He was sweet and bought me an all day spa day, but I think I'll share it with him and just do a couple of things. I like to challenge myself by going by the traditional gift, which this year was fruit. So I bought him chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements. Nothing spectacular as he bought me though! He ended up working from home today because yesterday they announced in their building that someone had the contagious meningitis and they were deep cleaning and hospital cleaning the building.

At least you know one more brand to not buy Gloria. I've done the cauliflower crust things, the first time I thought I'd loose my mind but there is a short learing curve and it gets easier. It's been awhile since I've done that, it's a bit much for one and doesn't freeze well.

Home safe and sound. Late start leaving out so ended up staying overnight midway. Long and short of it is. The windshield wipers decided to take a powder about 40 miles from party central and of course a blinding downpour. Luckily able to pull over in a safe spot, after waiting for over 1 1/2 hours for AAA and mother nature getting impatient with me I cancelled the call since the skies cleared. AAA took me over to the garage Saturday morn only to find it closed. Over to O'Reilly's with hopes it was just a fuse. Nope. Got it in Mon. morning, it was the plastic ring by the motor that broke, of course it is no longer available so had to replace the whole thing. That item was not avail in Branson so someone (the owners Mom) ran up to Springfield to get it. It was closer to 4 by the time I hit the road. I will tell you, it has been a long time since I have had night bugs riding my headlights and windshield - what a mess! AAA twice now has made the membership worth it.

Not much going on on this end either. Stay cool and above all hydrated!

Did you get home safely Kelly?

Pizza yesterday was okay, Udi's gluten free. It was tiny, maybe a single serving pizza and three of us ate it but it was enough because I only eat a little and the one girl was just taking a slice to try it (she didn't need gluten free). I wouldn't have picked it myself but for this occasion it was acceptable. I really want to try a cauliflower crust but don't have time to do that myself.

There were gluten free cookies too - they were pretty big and I ate almost half and tossed the rest, then someone put another one on my desk that I gave away. I eat so much junk, I don't need to add cookies to that, and these were HUGE! But nice that they accommodated everyone's dietary needs.

Not much else going on here, just working and marveling that school starts again soon and traffic will be bad again. But you know me, I will wring out every last bit of summer that I can, it will last until at least October for me...right now enjoying a lot of fresh produce and the pool and just being outside.

Wow Gloria and Gwen...way too close for comfort! We had a few years that lightening liked our hood way to much.

Gloria I have have been known to just pull the toppings off no eat that, espescially if it is a heavy crust. Hope you get what your tummy prefers.

Good for you getting back in the swing of things Gwen. I learned this weekend just how lazy I have gotten and I do not like walking in hi temps! I take it you all were not affected by the fire, hope not.

Thanks for being prayer warriors for Tony. He had arm and wrist surgery Sunday, was scheduled for another one yesterday, think they held off. Come to find out, he was on his way to a call? It is still hard to imagine what happened because he is an experienced rider.

I am on the final leg back to Nashville. Waiting for the sun to move further west also I am in a big comfy room so .will enjoy it a bit longer.

Yikes, lightning setting fires, not good. A few years ago our house was hit and we weren't home so didn't figure it out until later. We got home from work, and my computer was fried among other things. Funny thing is that we didn't really put two and two together until the cable guy came and pointed out the burned please at the peak in the roof and all along the side of the soffitt/fascia along the roof line, then we were able to get the insurance out and get it all fixed. After that my cats were afraid of storms for a while, but they seem to be over that now.

I had my Stampin' Up group last night...it's just too hard for me to be out that late on a school night, yikes, I am exhausted! It's in Brentwood, so by the time we get done and I drive all the way home and get ready for the work day (and I am always fairly well prepared in advance) and get myself ready for bed, it is always way too late.

Pizza party at the office today...let's see how this goes. I need gluten free thin crust with veggies. If they fail, I will be having an energy bar.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tony. I hope his surgeries have gone well and he is on the road to recovery soon.

Definitely blazing here! On Saturday there was lightening that hit one of the condo units and the fireman were called. They ended up taking a hatchet to the attic space/roof and spraying some water in there. Later that day I saw an emergency roof crew up there. It was a strange day!

Going back to working out full time again. Phew, I always hate starting up and having all the soreness.

Hope Tony is doing okay Kelly. Keep us posted and I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Channel 5 said heat index will be 105+ later this week. Summer is here but really it will be only about a month and a half more before we start seeing some cool down. And what? School starts in just over two weeks? WHERE did summer go?

My personal trainer needs to change our workout days to Tuesday and Thursday. He's with the fitness center at work and I do it on my lunch. Those days I do yoga in the fitness center...can't do both. Can't figure out how to make this work...I need to do these workouts on my lunch break and that isn't an option if they are both on the same day.

Wow on the rain in your area! Haven't heard about their street so I will say they are okay.

Thanks for asking about Tony. He is back in surgery to put plates in his wrist and arm, is holding his own.

I was always wondering what was up too when the routine was broken, most times it was ...just didn't want to. So enjoy the pool time.

Kelly, now is your nephew? I saw the hotel fire on the news, that thing was blazing, wow.

A bit less humid today though still hot. I'm enjoying it, got a run in and now out by the pool. DH didn't want to go to breakfast this morning...we go on Sundays without fail so I am not quite sure what to think of this.

Oh Kelly, so sorry about your nephew in law, and I will pray for a quick and easy recovery for him. Any kind of bike accident is a bad thing. Sometime in the last day or two I saw a motorcycle office had been in an accident but certainly that had to be one around Nashville somewhere.

Yeah, the deluge this morning was something else. I ran Bongo to Bongo (it's 10 miles round trip from Bongo Java in East Nashville to Bongo Java at Belmont and then back). We started at 6 am. There wasn't rain on radar and the hourly prediction said no rain until maybe 9 am., by which time we would be done. But at the last minute I grabbed a baseball cap (to keep rain out of my eyes) and a Ziplock for my phone and key fob - good thing too. By mile four I heard thunder, by mile six I saw lightning. On the way back we came down Demonbreun and turned left onto 2nd and I saw the rain in the distance and in a few minutes we were in a torrential downpour and we still had at least a couple of miles to go. When I got back to Hendersonville I found our peninsula was badly flooded, a few streets were covered in water, some had water over at least half and there was water dangerously close to, if not in, several houses. Kelly, I don't know exactly where Kyle's in-laws are at but it looked like that little area over by them had a lot of water in the yards and the street. It's drying out now but humidity is still out the roof at about 80%. I think it's going to be a lot better tomorrow as far as humidity goes but it will still be hot hot hot.

We are having random downpours, it is humid but livable. Looks like I am missing weather there. Lightening hit a hotel about three miles from the house major fire, all are okay. Good it happened during the day. This cabin has a tin roof, forgot how noises it can be.

Prayers would be appreciated for my nephew in law who had a horrendous motorcycle wreck yesterday. He is with the St Augustine sheriffs dept, bike unit, not on a chase but lost control and hit a concrete utility pole. He was airlifted to JAX, more than five hours of surgery. He seems to be holding his own.

Wanted to stop in, take care.

Guess you won't see this until you get back Kelly but have a fun and a safe trip! Have fun with your cousins too - hope the weather behaves.

Here it is Friday, I am not sure what is going on this weekend, lots I guess but I have gotten to the point now that I am resigned to doing laundry and groceries on the weekends and maybe some pool time, but not much else. I don't know, I was thinking about a short road trip but I just need to see what else is going on.

Quick drive by before I hit the road, I did decide to make it a two day trip so I can party with my crazy cousins when I hit Branson Friday. No time for naps.

That's great to reconnect with friends and that after all those years, times hasn't changed anything. Sounds like a better decision for you at work, I think I would have preferred that too.

The popcorn thing reminded me of something from years ago...it was a sign that said something like if you didn't read the directions, or understand the directions, do not pop corn! You will have no friends if our privileges are taken away.

But you know, they told us we were going to die from coconut oil in our popcorn, and took that away from us and look at it now. So I am less impressed with the junk they add to it and the price is a turn off. Yes it's convenient at times. I like mine better.

Well, gotta run likely won't check in much so everyone have a great weekend. Stay hydrated, I admire anyone willing to move faster than a short walk in this mess.

Morning gals! I got up late today and then....traffic. Two wrecks. But I got here okay and got a great parking space, so all is well!

So the deal with the popcorn is that a million years ago, maybe 12 years because it was before I came to work here, someone burned popcorn in the microwave in the cafeteria area and the burnt odor wafted all through the building and upset the CEO/President. So after that, no popcorn - we could bring it from home of course. Now they say that commercially sold microwaved popped corn could have carcinogens so Kelly, you are soooo very smart for doing your own! Anyway, I used to work in a 30 story building downtown, now known as the Fifth Third Building, previously called the SunTrust Building and before that the Third National Bank Building. But anyway, we were on the 22nd floor and one of the girls in my office burned popcorn in our kitchen...and that stench was all through the building. The smoke and smell were all down the elevator shafts and it could be smelled in the lobby. So I get why it is a concern. But glad we have the option now!

Where did you and your friend have lunch Gwenn? I really think the goat yoga would be fun, it is on my bucket list! My two best running friends and I call ourselves the Fainting Goat Tribe so we seriously need to do that.

I went and ran with the Fleet Feet group last night, surprising the turn out given the heat index was 100 when we started. I had intended to walk run and walk run I did, though I meant to do more walking and less running. Seems like we've got another couple of day of this before we get a day or two of relief.

Oh man Gloria! It is so hot out there! I am not even walking this week. My husband went out for a run this morning and he said it was ok but definitely getting hotter. Yay for popcorn! I don't know if our office allows it. I never smell it around there.

I went ahead and bought some classes and will be doing more yoga. I love this teacher. She actually does a goat yoga too out in East Nashville called Shenanigoats. Apparently they are on Facebook and you get tickets through Eventbrites. My husband is going to go with me and my friends. Should be fun! Might have to get an outside mat that stays outside! I'll be needing it anyway when I go to Wanderlust.

Today I am going to lunch with a friend from Atlanta who happens to be in town. I haven't seen her since I left 7 years ago! I need to run to Whole Foods- hope I can get in and out at this time! The work situation is just going to have to be what it is. They decided not to hire a temp person and use someone that we use as outside counsel anyway. I am much better with that because I know she is responsive. Hope she is on board! I'm sure she will be. We made our huge decision and it is life changing so trying to deal with that. Therapy definitely helping and yoga, believe it or not.

Stay cool!

Gwenn

The index is not going to be any better today either, ugh!!! Be careful out there.

Gwenn! There you are and I honestly thought I hit post the other day, sorry. So happy to see you drop in.

Interesting about acupuncture, much less a group one, good that it works for you. Honestly I think you are right about being mindful about choices, it is easier to stick with along with where you get your carbs from. A balance of outdoor and indoor sounds like a plan. I'm no help with yoga, I wish Toni hadn't taken a powder from us she was a good resource. How'd the 51 class go. If you like the teacher, invest in yourself.

I have friends that did the goat yoga thing, I don't know if it was the same place but they had a blast. Actually it is very popular (novel things always are) so give it a whirl.

You'll be fine at work, you can do it. It's understandable you are nervous about it but you'll be fine and whoot on the bonus! Canada in the fall is beautiful too. I know you are ready to get away though.

Stairs and a personal trainer, on the same day...rock on Gloria. I hope you can get your quarterlies settled so you can catch your breath, that's a lousy feeling.

I remember back in the 90's in Augusta office a lot of building managers put the kabash on popping pop corn because that wonderful aroma bothered a few whineybutts AND not everyone had access to microwaves. True. See we had snowflakes even back then. So pop away. I do my own bags. I think 1/3 cup kernels, splash of oil with some kosher salt, shake the lunch bag, fold the top and pop maybe 1 1/2 minutes. Perfect. Hmmm I think I'll make a batch for the road trip.

Take care, stay hydrated and don't overheat.

Oh, I am sure I used 1/4 c kernels, 1/3 might be too much for a lunch bag.

I had to post this, it is kind of exciting news...they are going to let us pop corn in the office! We've never been allowed to do that.

As hot as it is, I think the humidity is going to go up. Ugh. I waited until 6:30 to do my run last night and it was still too hot. Jumped in the pool afterwards, just needed a cool down! I'm tired, usually this is how I feel on Thursday but it's already been a long week. We are shorthanded and still trying to get reports and stuff done for quarter end.

Work yesterday was not pretty but that day is over. I made it a point to get up and do some stairs a couple of times and then I went to the personal trainer at lunch time. Got in an evening walk too. It is going to be sooooo hot today.

So how was the BierHaus Kelly? I don't know if we would like the seating arrangements, or the bier, haha! We used to go to Frankenmuth, Michigan to eat at the German restaurants there, such good food.

Sounds like you've been getting a lot of nice walking in Gwenn, I love to walk and I think getting outdoors is important. I used to get out a lot, a little each day and then I got the current job and that went to the birds. I am really trying to make more of an effort to get out for a least 15 minutes each and every day so at lunch I've been trying to just walk about a mile near my office...better than nothing but wish I could do more. Getting out into Percy Warner was so peaceful and I really loved it.

I REALLY want to do the goat yoga, that looks like soooo much fun! I am trying to get to the yoga class at work at least once a week. I didn't make it last week because of work which frustrates me to no end. Ever since the hip injury in the fall, my hip is just not right and I think yoga can really help that. Honestly, I am thinking about physical therapy because it is just not right. I haven't heard of Studio Novo. We've got a new Pilates studio here, but it is reformer Pilates with the machines...I am not a big fan of Pilates but I want to try it. The fitness center at work is a full gym, all of the usual cardio equipment, treadmills, elipticals, stair climbers, rowers, etc, a full size weight room with all of the machines and free weights, a studio for classes, showers/locker rooms etc. That is one thing that I am very grateful for.

I got out this morning and enjoyed a six mile run in the cooler less humid weather. Wish we could keep it! I'll take hot and not humid over hot and humid. Got the linens washed, groceries bought and laid around on my float in the pool for a while...I am ready to take on the new week. It's probably going to be a little rough for the first two or three days but then hopefully it will be back to normal - at least for a couple of weeks until the next month end closing, haha!

Sorry guys, meant to message and I usually get the emails about new posts but not lately. Hope you all had a nice fourth. I didn't do anything and was not going to bother going downtown. The past two weeks I only worked one day a week but it is back to normal again. Back to frustrating and challenging personal things and I'm not sure if they are over or not. Trying to make another big decision. Thank god for therapy!

I started back with the group acupuncture again and it's a nice rest every time. Tried getting my eating back under control when my husband decided to do low carb- well the ketogenic diet. It was really difficult to do and he gave up after a month. I think we just need to have a good balance. I've been walking a lot at the greenway- about 5 days a week, but that will be cut down some as I think I'm going to start more of my at home workouts. Of course the outside always calls me! Tonight we are going to Studio 51st to do a yoga class. He had one more class he had paid for and I just bought a walk in. I like the teacher, so it should be good. I may just end up buying a 10 class package or something at some point. We looked at Studio Novo. Have you heard of it? They have one on White Bridge near Belle Meade and one in Cool Springs. It's like pilates in a way, but you use these machines and apparently it's like a full body workout and looks really difficult. We were going to sign up to try it but I chickened out. But we are going to do goat yoga!! My old neighbor asked if I wanted to go and then I talked my husband into it. Haha! It's at the Noble Springs Dairy Farm in Franklin. I'm sure it will be an experience!

Time is ticking until I'll be on my own at work covering for my boss. Still nervous about it but going to just deal with it as it comes. That's all I can do! I was told I am receiving a mid-year bonus in August, which was nice. The vacation to Canada is up in the air at the moment. Really want to go, but may have to wait, which really stinks.

Kelly, I was at Opry Mills last weekend and we thought about going to that restaurant, but didn't go in. I'm not big on sausages and stuff, so I passed. I hope it's good!

That's a nice thing to have a great workout space at work. I am pretty sure our building has one, but I have no idea where it is. I'll have to ask.

Hope you all have a good week!

Percy Warner is a great place and yes it's easy to get lost.

Good to see you survived still another quarterly report. Stinks that other folks can't get their stuff together. It always helps when you have a great team mate.

Having dinner tonight with son et al, sister in law and her daughter at the new BierHaus at OpryMills tonight. Folks say they've done a good job of copying ones in Munich, right down to the long picnic benches (ugh). Not a bier drinker but may just have to try a short one.

The moon was just beautiful last night, startled some of us because the clouds cleared so quickly then bam! there was the moon! Now if the humidity would just go down.

Have a great day, enjoy some pool time Gloria and Gwenn...do we need to send the Shore Patrol after you?

Fourth business day, I am not sure if I have EVER had a lunch break on that day...and I am usually there at least a little bit late, but not usually too bad. But this was quarter end...I have to wait on others to do their stuff so I can start my processes and there were a lot of late people this month. My deadline is 4:00 on the fourth business day but I usually have to stay an hour or two after that to check things and make sure it was all done correctly. Anyway, I have it pretty good...my manager and I are a good team I think...the people before us, they were often there until after midnight or even 1:00 a.m. and pretty much NEVER meet the 4:00 deadline. It is rare that I miss the deadline. Even with all of the issues I made it yesterday but had to stay until around 6:30 to do my checks and stuff. AND though I NEVER get a lunch on that day, I was waiting on others so I did do a coffee run at lunch time, which was a real treat!

I went to Percy Warner for my run this morning...figured I would get lost there and I did, hahaha! It is soooo hilly there, yikes. I want to run there often.

Gloria, here's to you getting out of there at a reasonable time tonight! AND that you are able to grab even a few minutes away from being chained to your desk...

I'm thinking lots of pool time as a priority for you. Give yourself permission to lay low. Your mind and body will appreciate it.

I hear you on the humidity. Looks like today's weather is going to be more of the same we've had all week. I hope it loosens its grip, my sister in law and her daughter are flying in from NY tomorrow, spending a few days with Kyle. They decided to fly into here then drive down to UofAlabama for orientation. Niece and granddaughter are good friends even though they see each other so seldom and granddaughter is a couple years younger. I'll be headed up to NY next month to keep Mom company while they get her moved in. Where does the time go?

Ha! I knew I was right about the fireworks. Last night at about 10:00 p.m. or so there were still people shooting them off somewhere close to us. I mean really....let me sleep!!!!!! I was at work three hours late last night and didn't get to go to lunch...I had hoped to go to yoga at lunch yesterday. Today will be the really difficult day, keeping my fingers crossed for the best but it is quarter end and we've had some issues, it's not just me but a lot of us, we've been working long and hard. On the fourth business day I NEVER go to lunch (and I bring food to eat that does not require going to the microwave because there isn't even time for that) and I wouldn't be surprised if I am here quite late...but let's hope not.

Don't know what is going on out and about this weekend....I just don't keep up anymore. There is so much to do it seems but by the time the weekend comes, I am so busy with laundry and housecleaning and getting in the pool...I never go anywhere except to run!

Hope we see some breaks in this rain and humidity. It's July, I guess that would be wishful thinking.

That's interesting about the Y pricing, would work for me too. I think it was the medicare supplement insurances that dropped out of the program (likely all because of their price increases and the unwillingness of the insurers too) but i don't think they were fair to those who would qualify for low income rates. I miss the pool and the water aerobics. I haven't been over to the one here since they expanded it. Wow, that is a lotta $$$, hard to imagine folks willing to pay that.

Well it hasn't been in the news much but Titans stadium was damaged by the fireworks, it didn't explode in the air, it went boom when it hit whereever in the upper level of the stadium. I'll see if I can find the video of some fool who set his house on fire because he put the spent fireworks in his trashcan in the - garage! And yes they do, so it is not just your imagination, it is many of us.

Yeah, the humidity is pretty unbearable. The storms got here yesterday and last night...I thought it wasn't going to do that yesterday so I was surprised.

So I pay for the fitness center at work and as a result of that, I get a very steep discount of the Y. If I did the Y alone it would cost me way more than it does now for both. I love the Y, it's my favorite but it is way too expensive...or so I thought, then I heard that people are paying like $150 - $200 a month for these fitness centers out in Franklin and Brentwood.....yikes. That is not in my budget. The Y in Sumner at some point quit having the discounted program for seniors and that led to an uproar for sure....so many utilize that program and they gear a lot of their daytime stuff toward them. I think maybe they reinstated it, not sure though. I just like it better, it is not a meat market and the classes are so good. I've tried other gyms and the Y is just my favorite - maybe not as cutting edge on their programs and classes, but still what I like and need.

A bullet in the ceiling? Oh my, that is so scary. Glad a PERSON didn't get hit! I said something to my husband about the house getting hit by fireworks and he told me my imagination is very strong...well, no, not really, these things do happen.

It is muggy out right now. I just heard it is pouring over south of Clarksville. Sounds like it is going to stay north of us.

Take care of yourself the next few stressful days.

So you have to pay extra for the one at work even though you are a member elsewhere? Is it because you are in Sumner? After thought....Nevermind, I think I answered my question, it is likely the type of membership you have.

Sounds like the really nice Y set up over at Southern Hills Hospital, except for the classes. They were setting it up while John was going through hyperbarics, one day before they opened he wheeled himself in to check it out since he spotted his fav equipment from cardiac rehab, the nustep, they invited him in, talked to him and told him he was welcome anytime. We were both members of the Donelson Y through insurance so it was a no brainer. They opened and I hit that place every morning (after having breakfast at the hospital) for the remaining 2-3 weeks he went over. Sometimes he would want to go in, other times he just wanted out. Can't blame him after laying in that chamber for a couple of hours then the redressing of his foot, etc. They were so great to him on the few occasions we went over later. I would sneak over there once in awhile for the next few months. Then my insurance stopped participating in the program, so no more Y for me. I did renew, I felt the Y fees were too high and restricted me to the D'son site and a few other things so I didn't renew after that year. I qualify for a reduced rate but they were way too nosey, beyond looking at that year's tax return.

Crazy people, some poor family in Hermitage had a bullet go through their ceiling last night. Bad enough worrying about a house going up in flames from fireworks but fools shooting off their guns.

SO much for the rain staying to the north of here - it is raining so hard at the house, can barely see across the street. And fog has rolled in with it, thanks humidity.

Hope everyone had a great July 4th!

Yeah, so the fitness center at work is very very nice....it is not a YMCA but it is affiliated with the Y and all of the instructors and director, etc., all work for the Y and are on their payroll. So we do have a lot of interesting class. Right now we have a "barre" class, I think there is still a kickboxing class, sculpt, Pilates, cycling and yoga. It's $20 a month I think and I get a sweet deal on the Y membership since I am a member of the one here.

I worked a while, did my workout on the treadmill, which is just not ideal and I think that I won't do that anymore. Traffic was fair this morning, not the greatest but certainly not the worst - I actually did leave a bit later than I should have, so actually for the time, it was probably pretty decent!

It is already very very muggy out there Gloria, you know what to do if you must relief yourself from work later! Sculpt class at work, interesting what they offer there.

Sorry to see you are having tummy troubles again.

We went to our friends house last night, they live next to the park where Hendersonville does the fireworks so we just walked over and watched. I didn't eat any of the party food...honestly, too much stomach trouble right now and not my kind of food anyway. Yesterday I ended up going to the sculpt class at work (personal trainer is still gone for his summer army reserves training) and today I got up early and walked with some friends, then had coffee with them. I am going to run later and I am getting ready to sit down at the work computer shortly.

I guess the price turns folks off so they are hard to find, sad face. Actually it wasn't until a few years ago that I learned that they also come, just as delicious, from Michigan! I had never heard of them until we moved to WA way back when.

Sorry you have such a busy day for work, I hope you find your second wind and enjoy the evening with friends. AND that you take tomorrow off.

Got nothing exciting planned, decided this year to not even plan on either the train downtown or going to the Science center for the fireworks. Just as well, the kids accepted an invite to join friends at a lake place they took in Alabama, I have custody of the fourlegger. I could have gone up there to watch her but I have stuff to do here and don't feel like commuting back here.

Publix didn't have the cherries but Kroger had a few, forgot to bring some with me for my snack today. I am at work, will probably be a long day and very busy. DH accepted an invite to a party tonight - dinner and then walk over to the park in Hendersonville for the fireworks. I will see how things go today - I might be too tired to deal with that. I am off tomorrow but imagine I will be working, albeit from home.

Rainier Cherries???? I will have to take a second look, actually I haven't been for groceries yet this past week. I so love those I don't care how much they are. Better they are expensive I don't make a pig outta myself. Tomatoes are coming in, actually some of the vendors at markets are doing hydroponics that a very good. Whatever they are adding to the water works (mimics what is in the soil). Never had a lot of success at growing maters either.
By the way, St. Augustine has a huge hydroponic strawberry market, very good too.

Don't fret over your time Gloria, sometimes it happens - you did it and that's what counts. Especially since you had your days mixed up. HaHa

Gwenn do we need to send out an APB on ya young lady?

I put an adblocker on mine and a friend showed me how to get rid of the banners that showed up awhile ago. I also put on a do not track thing. It looks like only the annoying autoplay featured ad and their ad covering our team logos remains, we'll see how long that works.

Early on I decided against doing the premium because at first it was a ridiculous price then they lowered it to a one time hit but something just didn't feel right about what you got. I don't trust they would even stand by that agreement of no ads.

Not much going on my end. I did my Krogering yesterday and I am going to Publix soon. I get a lot of my produce at Publix because I don't like the stuff at Kroger. I did get avocados, peaches and Rainier cherries at Kroger. I am thinking about heading to Hendersonville Produce to see what kind of goodies they have. I want some nice tomatoes, I guess it's too early for them. We grew some a couple of years ago, we should have done that again.

This humidity is crazy. Ugh.

My page always has ads on it. Such an annoyance but since this is a free website, I suppose they have to make their money somehow.

I forgot I had a 5k this morning, yikes! I thought it was Tuesday. It was in White House. Just a small race, with a few people there who I knew. I was comparing last year's time with this year's time for this race, yikes, how far I have fallen....I was a speedy one last year. This year, not so much.

So how is everyone liking this humidity? It's July, I think it's here to stay!

Everyone, have a safe and happy weekend!

WHOA!!!! Alll of a sudden our team page and the reply page is loaded with ads...are yours? That danged featured ad has showed up on this page recently but now all this other nonsense. Did my adblocker fail again or did they find another way to override it?

That's not a holiday if you have to work any part of it. We've all been in that boat sadly. Enjoy what you can and escape out of there at a decent time today. Chuy's twice in even a month is too much for me. Actually can't tell you the last time I was there.

I got the prespiralized zucchini and didn't check the package first, it was a mushy mess. Publix took it back. My dodad to make it takes longer to dig out, assemble and clean after so I haven't don't it often. I prefer oven baked s'ghetti squash. Marinara is a plus.

Guess it is all what we are used to, we keep ours at 78 too, 68 in winter. Utilities don't like me much.

Friday Eve, YAY! Of course today will be busy at the office, last day of the month and then I will work a little this weekend. We do get Tuesday off and I hope not to work on Tuesday but time will tell on that. Otherwise I hope for some pool time and of course I will run a little, haha! We've been invited Monday night to a party but I don't know, it depends on when I get out of the office on Monday as to whether or not I go.

I need to pick up a spaghetti squash for myself. DH won't eat it. I noticed Publix had zucchini spaghetti the other day, I would rather spiralize it myself but who has time, so I picked that up and had it with marinara, so yummy.

Ah yes, no AC, even I am spoiled enough to want it but for those who are unwell, I can understand. Kelly, I know you are like me, you don't keep it blasting like most people do...I keep mine at around 78 or so but I imagine if it was that hot out and John was cold, you must have been just miserable. I guess in the so called "old days" people didn't have it, and they just sat outside all summer in the hopes of catching a breeze.

Lunch today with DH, told him we are NOT going to Chuy's for the second week in a row. They bring me two veggie burritos and a huge serving of rice, so I eat one burrito and save the other for leftovers. Two burritos per week two weeks in a row, I am tired of that! We will go to J. Christopher's instead. Haven't been there in ages.

It may have been okay but the flavor for sure wouldn't be the same...I am almost in tears with your snack guests!!! I'm surprised they didn't knock on the door and ask for merlot to wash it down.

Actually later I thought of salmon patties, a local cafe does a great job with them. I'd make them anyway for lunch or something for yourself. I did that often because hubs got picky about new or different things, funny think is he would later pick up items to give it a try. You should have seen him with a spaghetti squash, hilarious.

I remember that summer very, very well. John could not get warm enough so the air was not on most of the time, had to draw the line when it hit close to or over 90 in here. Kept most of the ceiling fans going along with the one on the central air that helped but by 4p I had to turn it on for a few minutes just to circulate cold air. He was going through daily hyperbaric at the time, luckily first thing in the morning thankfully Southern had valet otherwise hauling him out afterwards would have been a true challenge.

It's Friday Eve! Quiet around here for me all weekend. What do you and Gwenn have on the agenda?

Make some salmon patties Kelly! I really like salmon patties or croquettes or whatever we wish to call them. But I never make them because you know who (DH) hates them.

So yes, I did the pantry and threw away a lot of candy...Lindor truffles and such, Ghirardelli squares. I buy a lot of candy and then don't eat it. I don't know if candy goes bad but it had expiration dates like 2015/2016. So this morning I went out and someone (Rocky Raccoon maybe?) had gone through the trash and opened each of those individually wrapped candies and eaten them apparently, and left the wrappers for me (or DH) to pick up! Wiley little rascals!

Saw on the weather this morning that on this day in 2012 it was 112 degrees, the hottest ever recorded in Nashville I believe. I am really happy it isn't 112 now. But the humidity is coming back.

Ahhhhh the infamous freezer and pantry raid. The bigger the pantry the more gets tossed because it got lost way back there (I have a medium one now). I hear you about menu's, stopped that years ago too but I did try to have an idea what the main item would be and at least have that to work from. I really should start doing that again. A few months ago I decided I would shop from the pantry; made a huge difference for a couple of weeks. Right now I'm looking at a few cans of salmon (Costco) that I really need to do something with, I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought that - not crazy about canned salmon.

Nothing exciting around here, have a good evening!

Food Lion, I forgot about Food Lion. We had one nearby when we lived in Nashville but there isn't one in Hendersonville. We would go there pretty often because it was closest to us of all the stores. A list is good, I usually try to put a list in my phone. Back a few years ago I had all of the menus planned out and knew exactly what I was going to cook on what day and I bought accordingly. These days, not so much, ha! I try to plan but then everything happens and everything changes. I did a big clean out of my freezer because the door was ajar all day and everything in it melted so I am also taking it upon myself to clean out the pantry. I was shocked at how much expired junk was in there.

WOW, loved this weekend's weather! Starting to become summer again, boo.

Gloria I'd say your hubs has a serious pup allergy!

Guess at my age organic is not high on my radar most times and I did notice that Aldi's carries the bare basics in organic freggies (likely because they aren't big sellers due to price) and I did notice the last couple of times there are fewer US grown freggies available. It's generally out of the way for me so guess I'm not there that often.

I'm not in Kroger that often either, what I found the couple of times I used clikit, the freggies were well selected, almost made me want to only order that from them and not go in. I'm not a big couponer either because what is offered is for stuff I wouldn't buy or the discount isn't worth it. I think overall it's cheaper for me. A list is my budgets best friend, too. Food Lion has become my convenience store again, I like that when something is on sale it stays that way for more than a week. Seems that the one here is trying to go back to the roots of when they were employee owned and are improving the store overall.

This week I may try to head over to Whole Foods and/or Trader Joes first thing after rush hour, miss wondering around there. Thinking about it, haven't been there in over a year, wow.

Nothing exciting around here, stay cool and hydrated.

I love dogs and am not afraid of them, which is interesting because I have been bitten by dogs twice. One was my paternal grandfather's dog and one was my maternal grandmother's dog. I would get one if I thought I had time to care for one, but also my husband is so badly allergic that we will never have one - his eyes seal shut and his throat constricts when he is around them...so no dog for me.

Funny about Publix, I really can't stand Kroger. Mostly Publix seems to cost more but then if you are careful with coupons and sales, they are really cheaper. I don't have time for coupons and I don't buy much packaged stuff so honestly, coupons probably wouldn't help me much anyway. The new Kroger by us seems a lot better than the one they just closed, maybe fresher and cleaner, but honestly, I had that fish that I bought at Kroger right when they opened that was pretty much spoiled and I am not thrilled with the produce. And the employees and service are so much better at Publix, they have profit sharing and employees really seem to like working there. Anyway, I do go to the new Kroger a bit more than I went to the old one. I'd go to Whole Foods but it is just too time consuming with traffic. I should probably check out Fresh Market more often, maybe their prices are okay.

That is terrible about that lady, Gloria! I hope she recovers quickly! Shame on those owners. I'm afraid of dogs and I chalk it up to my babysitter having a Great Dane and it was so much bigger than me. I dread the day we get a dog because my husband wants one. I guess I'll have to deal.

I am not a fan of Aldi. Sure, they have cheap prices, but I usually leave with like two things in my hand. I will buy their asparagus and their brussel sprouts, but I haven't gone in awhile. I went to the Belle Meade Kroger yesterday and they have ok organic produce. I will say they have way more than the Publix by me. Publix actually has some higher prices on produce than Whole Foods. I just can't get to Whole Foods all the time.

Nothing much going on around here! Hope you guys have a good week!

Gwenn

Yes, the woman is a very nice gal, she has been so incredibly supportive of me and my endeavors, she actually gave me a 26.2 pendant after my first marathon back last fall. She teaches spin at the YMCA and is an avid biker. I have not come across many vicious dogs so far but I know they are out there...I need to carry pepper spray or something but Charlene was injured and wouldn't have been able to get up to get away regardless.

Weather...perfect! I will try to get out today for a walk or run or something, how lucky can we be to have this in late June?

So many people have been telling me to go to Aldi - yesterday at least three people mentioned it. So I finally went. They told me I would love the fresh produce. Walked out with nothing. Found it odd that most of the produce was from South America - it is winter in SA! Most of the produce right now ought to be from HERE where it is summer! Found that very strange, and not too much organic at the one in H'ville. So I headed to Publix and got some good ole USA fruit and veggies! Someone else mentioned that Aldi's has great Greek yogurt but I will stick with my Fage! And they didn't have the Organic Valley milk...that is my go to for right now because they supposedly treat their cows more humanely.

Gloria i think that gal is a neighbor of Kyle's, we heard about it this morning. Lawd love a duck - I hope they charge the owner since this isn't that dogs first offense. Good she is okay though. Scary for sure. Ha my first reaction was, a woman in heat, really?

I know it's hard to amp up veggie based protein, can only chew so much of it if you ask me.

Luvin' the past two days although this afternoon it feels more humid in the sun - not complaining though. The kids went paddleboarding this morning, after they went to the gym, I headed home. Cluck Cluck chicken...where did I go wrong, kids going to the gym, on a Sunday no less.

Enjoy the rest of the day. Gwenn hope you and hubs got to go do something interesting.

Just perfect weather for late June, don't you think? I am loving it! One of the women in HEAT (the triathlon group up here in Hendersonville) was cycling yesterday, going about 24 mph down a hill and a dog came out of a yard and went after her....she fell off her bike and was injured. Some other people on bikes got their bikes between her and the dogs, called the police and ambulance. Took the sheriff 30 minutes to get there, and this is not the dog's first offense. Homeowner did not come out to call the dog off until the police got there. She is okay, not broken bones but is very sore and stiff and could barely walk this morning. That is some scary stuff.

Yes, glorious weather today for sure! It was still humid for our early morning run but the humidity is gone now and it is so nice for late June. I've been trying to eat a more plant based diet and less meat but it's hard to get protein...today ended up with four eggs. I enjoy eggs but I don't think four in one day is that great. But husband wants to eat out and I can't really find much to eat.

This early morning report from the Nashville National Weather Service....

With the (underwhelming) remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy out of the way, and cooler, drier air slowly working its way into Middle Tennessee, we have a high risk of very pleasant weather the next five days. Temperatures from today at least through Wednesday will remain below normal (by several degrees in some instances). Overnight lows the next 4 nights beginning tonight will be in the 50's (fifties!). Once these last few pesky showers go away this morning, our next chance of rain won't be until Thursday at the earliest. So give yourselves a pat on the back, everyone. We've paid our dues and definitely deserve this forecast.

Crazy the way it was so nice out yesterday and into this morning. Should do a grocery run, got commitments to bring chow to a party tomorrow. Can't show up at the son's house empty handed two times in a row. HaHa (To be fair, last time was a last minute invite and I did stop and grab some yummy treats at my fav little pastry coffee shop here)

Have a great week end Gloria and Gwenn. Gwenn I hope your unruly neighbors have found their manners.

I guess at lunch time we are in for a lot more rain. I plan to go to lunch with DH, so of course they are saying it will be a monsoon then, haha! Looks like we will have a nice few days after this all moves out, low humidity and kind of cool weather, relatively speaking.

It's just crazy monsoon one minute, drizzle the next today. Guess the worst of it is tomorrow and sad to hear that LA is still getting pounded.

Of course, I'd be surprised if you didn't have an extra pair of shoes and sox Gloria! Hope your pants dry quickly though.
