Kelly, hope you had a fun trip, pretty cool to celebrate the MIL.

Gwenn, I prefer farm fresh eggs from a local farm, milk I am still trying to figure out...they say raw is bad but they say raw is good...too much contradictory info out there. I am sure the milk we got from the local farm when I was a kid was raw...it was in glass bottles and the cream would rise to the top so we would shake it up to mix it back on. I loved that stuff (I wouldn't mind just drinking the cream right off the top, haha). I will have to look at Hendersonville Produce and see if they have it. I think in some states unpasteurized milk is illegal to sell but pretty sure it is okay here. I can guarantee with about 100% certainty that my husband WILL NOT drink raw milk.

Actually, I haven't been drinking milk or doing anything dairy for over a year, but last month I started drinking milk. I haven't done much research on it but it seems confusing. Just like the egg situation. I have read that raw unpasteurized milk is good for you, but it's hard to find that. Probably at a farmer's market. I did see some at the Richland Park market a few weeks ago.

Greetings from the land of lousy internet connections. Posted this morning just as the connection took a powder. Frustrating as Comcast is, this company is worse.

I'll be back tomorrow so will catch up then, meanwhile have a great one!

Gwenn, you drink milk, right? What kind do you buy? I am reading up on the ethical treatment of the dairy cows, organics, ultra-pasteurization, etc., so I am really curious about this. Based on what I am finding, Organic Valley is better (ethically speaking) than Horizon and both do ultra-pasteurization (are there any that don't other than local farms maybe?)

Weather doesn't seem as bad today. I am wishing I could go for a run but I am not sure that will work in my schedule. At work and I want to eat. This doesn't happen at home. Work makes me fat, lol

Our power went out last night, no idea why. It wasn't storming. It was out all over the peninsula too. Since it is cooler and cloudier I am not sure if I will get any pool time today. Plus I've got a ton to do since I was really too tired to get anything done yesterday.

Bad weather moving through! Had Viola Valley half marathon today, that is such a beautiful course and such a well supported race - town of 130 people and probably 500 runners but they do an incredible job with it. Heat and humidity were MISERABLE. I was 20 minutes slower on the course than I was last year. We ate at Peter D's in Murfreesboro on the way home (it is owned by the Demos family).

I'm laughing about the Belle Meade wine Kelly!

It is warmer here than there, Thurs it was into 90 at 10a! Cooling down a bit cloudy this morning.

A few laps are better than none, bet the pool feels good after a run.

Never been impressed with Noshville, other than their bagels. Had some wine from the Belle Meade Plantation, come up here to have local, funny! A friend of the family found it up here. Think I've seen it but apparently didn'hit me hot button.

Trying to navigate the new iPad, so will check in later. Everyone have a great Saturday.

I woke up to lots of lightning this morning but the commute in wasn't too bad, wet in places but traffic wasn't terrible. I've already seen signs of better traffic this week due to schools starting to get out. Quite a few more will graduate this weekend. Everyone thinks summer is better but then we start to deal with things like CMA fest - so yes it is better mostly but not every week and only for a couple of months.

Got in the pool again last night, heater was on and water was very nice and warm. I actually got in and "swam" (my poor version of it, hahahaha) a couple of laps.

Vinyassa yoga is my favorite. The one I DO NOT like is Bikram. As a runner what I really need is restorative yoga...but what I really love is vinyassa.

I went and ran last night, 90 degrees out there! But a nice wind to keep us cool. Jumped in the pool after that and it was COLD at 90 degrees, hahaha!

Nah, changing jobs will be just as stressful. I am actually filling in today for the person whose job I am thinking about applying for. She is out today and I am actually her backup.

Enjoy NY Kelly, maybe it will be cooler up there! And enjoy the deli, that is one thing I miss over here, Noshville was the closest thing to it. I guess the Noshville is still in Green Hills but who goes over there?

Gwenn, I'd talk to them about the free class, I notice more and more places are not making their specials all the public. Glad you enjoyed that yoga class, never heard of it but that's nothing new in the line of yoga and stuff like that.

Gloria, downside to a hottub, can't do laps or much of anything else but sit and sip. That's progress you're making with making it tub warm.

Well, if it feels right to move offices, then do it. Will it lessen the stress? I can remember John grumbling over those continuing ed programs, then they expect you get your work done on top of that.

I'll be a bit scarce the next week, will be in NY filling my chubby cheeks with good eats from the Jewish Deli and the Italian bakery. So hold down the fort, hope the heat wave is short lived. Oh man was it ever windy today!

Hey Y'all! I had continuing education yesterday and today, glad to be getting that done. I was told today about an eight hour one in October, that should set me up for the year. Otherwise, not much going on. Did I tell you that I will probably apply for a different position here at the office? I am not sure yet - it's not actually open yet so I am just biding my time and deciding what to do. So Kelly, I have had the pool heater on and on Monday night and last night I sat IN the pool! I promised myself I wasn't going to be wimpy this year about the water temperature but finally yesterday I cranked it up to 95 degrees (it was set at 92). I don't guess I will ever do a triathlon because I am such a sissy about what I perceive to be cold! I could probably get rid of the pool and just get a hot tub, haha!

Nothing much going on over here. The weather has been so nice, despite the heat, but it looks a little overcast today. Tried yoga flow (Vinyasa yoga) at the Studio 51st last week and I really liked it. Going back today. I only have one more pass to use. My boss told me that Pure Barre had a special of a week of barre for free, but I don't see it on their website. I'm not sure if I will go or not.

Today's temp should make the pool happy and warmer. Shouldn't be long now before the whole bod can join on in.

Can't help but think right decision much as you like your runs to not sit in that danged traffic.

Nothing exciting on this end of town, so everyone have a great evening...stay cool!

Back to work, I am loving these sunny mornings. Makes me think I should get up and run before work, but then I would get to work late so I don't know. Last night I sat at the edge of the pool with my legs in. The water is still chilly for me but it was warm enough to do that.

Just gorgeous out isn't it? Clear blue sky, not too hot and not too humid! I'm loving it, sitting out back with my chai latte. Our day lilies are out, and the peonies are coming too, along with some yellow flower that I am not sure what it is called. Birds are enjoying the bird bath.

I slept well last night, got up and went out to Brentwood to run this morning, pretty far for me to go but it was a very good run with lots of people I know. I've got everything ready for Monday as far as work goes and I'm almost done with laundry. I will run to Publix later. Maybe I will venture to Aldi but I need to remember my bags and quarter, haha!

WOW - nice out right now!!! Back door wide open airing out the house. Don't know what the rest of the day brings though.

So here's to everyone having a great weekend, Gloria, how does it feel to be without a race this weekend? Gwenn did you get your hair cut or did you have a special thing that had your hair done?

The kids, friends are going to the Steeplechase today and taking their kids. For a change the weather is nice. Since they are staying with their friends tonight, I have custody of the granddog. I think she is happy to be out of the renovations that have been going on, enjoying having the door open so she can come and go as she wants.

Yay, Friday, I don't know why this has been such a tiring week, work has not been stressful at all but I am tired! Headache is gone, today I am so cold - I wore a sweater but it is like winter in this office! The only jacket I brought is a rain jacket so I can go out to lunch, wish I had brought a warm hoodie.

So somewhere got a new Aldi? I need to check that out, it isn't Hendersonville so maybe it is Gallatin. We got a new Kroger on Main Street, pretty much on the diagonal corner of the old Kroger, it opened last week. It's bigger and cleaner and has a bit more stuff. I'm not a fan of Kroger meat but this one has an actual meat counter...still probably the same meat though. Publix has the RX bars, Kroger doesn't. The scrambled eggs were great but I probably didn't need the calories and I don't know if the cafeteria here even uses real eggs! They tasted really good though.

Did it storm down here? We had a very long lasting lightning show in the wee hours of the morning, loud and kept me awake for a couple of hours (oh, maybe that is why I am tired? - ha).

We can get stamps here at the office but they are just the flag stamps...the convenience is nice though and I have gotten stamps here many times.

My weight is up this morning and I think I am starving! Of course I am not starving, but I definitely have the munchies and have been enjoying my morning walnuts and almonds. But I need to reign that in, don't want to make my pants any tighter than they already are. The skinnier jeans that I wore today are definitely feeling pretty skinny today hahaha!

Hope your headache moved on out yesterday Gloria. It sure got muggy and hot as yesterday went on, Barometer bothers my daughter too, yesterday a lot of folks were mentioning aching heads so you weren't alone, What was in your scramble that had you worried???

I think one of you mentioned Rx bars or something like that, I saw them or maybe it's a different item in a Publix ad for this week. Haven't been to look for them, even though I was right next door yesterday I didn't bother to go in. Then on my way home I realized I was out of milk so I had to stop elsewhere, ack!

That was interesting to learn about the PO, I thought the guvmint changed their minds especially since they still support Amtrak. Oh found out somthing else the other day, 53 bank charges a surcharge if you get stamps at their atm. Really? Annoying now before you can get your cash you have to skip through do you want stamps. Not if I have to pay extra, don't remember how much. I mentioned it to the teller, the stores sell them at no extra fee.

Is it H'ville or Gallatin that got a brand new Aldi?

I thought for sure yesterday; the old laptop was a goner, that the wifi was completely toasted because no matter what I did I could not get connected (the wireless thing is gone and Rick told me it won't be long before the whole thing goes). I took the umbilical cord off and reconnected a second time - it worked! This thing is at least 7 yrs old so I know its days are numbered.

Looks like we will get rain today, of course we will...it has rained every Fri for weeks. At least this one won't be downpours. Nothing exciting on this end of town for the week end, hope you two have a good one.

Up and at 'em, here on time today, but still tired! Actually, I have a headache, wonder if it is related to the barometric pressure because I think a cold front is coming in. It wasn't raining on my way to work but there is definitely a chance of rain today. I used some peppermint oil for my headache, I might be desperate enough for Ibuprofen or Tylenol.

Kelly, I keep meaning to go to Aldi - maybe this weekend it will really happen.

I guess staying out too late Monday caught up with me and I didn't wake up on time this morning. Woke up at 5:45 instead of 4:25! And oh the traffic, yikes! Got here almost two hours late. Then I got some scrambled eggs to go with my oatmeal...that was an oops but the protein was good and I took the stairs back from the cafeteria (to the eighth floor) so it will all balance out.

I am not sure what Panera charges for delivery, maybe $5? I would walk there for sure, I have done it before, did it last week in fact! Just did it on a whim. There are two close to the office, one on 21st by Vanderbilt and one on West End.

I so dislike the ugly stamps, if I want pretty ones I order them via the web but I think there is a surcharge for that too. Problem isn't just the pensions, it's that the government doesn't fund the post office anymore and they can't make enough to support themselves (with those high salaries and good pensions) - not as much mail these days with E-mail and electronic billing and paying. Funny that they are busy in Donelson during those hours, or maybe not so funny considering that most people work and can't come during regular business hours! Ha! Maybe they all should be open those hours and close on Mondays or something. Makes sense to me!

Glad you went stampin', one of these days time will be good to you and you can enjoy all those goodies you have. You are too funny!

I don't know what Panera charges for delivery, but they do that now. I had steak salad for dinner last night. I think salad stuff tastes better this time of year, maybe because most of it is fresher? I need to get back to salads too.

Another nice day today, I think rain is on the horizon but should clear at least for Sunday. Sure got warm yesterday afternoon though.

Uncle Sam is their main source of income, always has been. Their pensions are one of the biggest culprits and unlike real life employees that won't change. They are well paid with excellent benefits yet they complain and give us lousy service. I was amazed when a few years ago the big PO here in Donelson started extended hours, including on Sundays and that the place is busy during those hours. Have you seen those ugly stamps the machines give you now? UPS and FedEx have surcharges based on the size of your package too. Geez, they have gotten so expensive.

Non-machine surcharge, what a racket. Postal service is desperate for money - almost bankrupt and the government won't do anything to save it. And yes, those postal clerks are usually rude and hateful. I guess it isn't a good job, and the irony is, they are usually not friendly at all and what are they going to do when their jobs are eliminated because everyone uses the machines now? Maybe they are bitter over that?

Wow Kelly, crazy going on over there in Donelson! I really hate how things are turning here in Nashville, this is more and more common. Every morning I turn the news on for weather and traffic, only for about 15 minutes while I am getting ready for work, and every morning it is a shooting or some such thing. It's really sad. I am ready to move away from here too other than my friends...just don't want to leave my friends.

I was really too tired to go to my stamping group last night but we did have a nice time. This was my month to "host" so I will get some free stuff this time to add to my collection of supplies that I hardly ever have time to use anymore. I am really in the mood for salads right now but I have yogurt for breakfast. I wish I could walk down to Panera and get a salad or somewhere like that and get a salad. Leftover gluten free pizza is for lunch, I want salad! I guess that is just a summer thing.

Oh no, it was 70 cents postage plus 21 cent charge for Non Machine Surcharge. Gotta love it

That was a great Pred game yesterday! Pretty exciting!

Oh wow! There always seems to be something going on crime-wise. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!

I think the 21 cents was the extra postage. I have never been charged extra for going to the counter. But wait, this is the PO and who knows what they'll do next. Hope it wasn't because you had it hand cancelled. Geez

I hear you about Vandy, I have always used valet either curbside at the hospital or in the garage. (Well, that is if I'm there during normal hours, scary garage other times) Man is that something, always a line there too. Other than that adventure, did you like the new Dentist?

Enjoy your stampin' group, will they celebrate you made it twice in a row?

Nice out again today! How 'bout those Preds?

Well, nothing else everyone have a great evening.

Just saying hello. Went to a new dentist for me. My husband has been going to him since he was a kid. I hate driving around Vanderbilt Hospital and I was so lost and confused just to park. Thank God this dentist is moving down the road from where they currently are. Then I went to the post office and I needed to mail a card to my mom which required extra postage. I normally use the kiosk but wanted it hand canceled plus I wanted different stamps than they have in the kiosk. Do you know they charged me 21 cents because I went to the counter? It's only 21 cents, but I think that is ridiculous. They are there to do a job so why should I pay extra for their slowness and rude attitude???

Good morning, happy Monday! Yeah, the problem with waiting on housework is that my dad was here last weekend and so the housework waited and this weekend I just couldn't get it all done and now the house is starting to look somewhat like a sty, haha! Not so happy about that. I did get quite a bit done though - got the towels and sheets washed and groceries, bills paid, so it wasn't a complete bust. I went to Publix and picked up some polenta. I haven't see that ad with the fish sticks! Funny! I've got my stampin' up group tonight so it will be a late night for me....might try to get a couple of miles run in after the personal trainer, we will see. I want a day off from running so I really need to look ahead at the calendar and see how the weather will be and what other kind of plans there are. I guess I will be eating the fish tomorrow instead of today since I won't be home...really wanted it tonight while it is still really fresh.

The housework can wait, go do something for yourself Gloria!

Lemon poached fish is always good (add a little vino to it too). I like polenta, gosh couldn't tell you last time I fixed it though. Easy to do. If you've ever had paealla however you spell that Spanish dish that has seafood and all kinds of other good stuff served in a great big round shallow pan, then you've had polenta. Did you hear the ad for foster parents, gal said she knew fish sticks but what part of the fish does the stick come from, cookbook doesn't say. They are coming up with some hilarious ads.

You could prebake your sweet potatoes then grill them, if you have a Foreman grill do it on that.

Ah fresh air, enjoy it!

Those sweet potatoes at Humdingers are wonderful...wish I had the time and inclination to grill my own. I did get some cod from Kroger, it said USA but not well labeled honestly but not sure if they do farm raised cod, so it's probably okay. I will have that tomorrow night when my husband isn't home. He is not a huge fish fan, though he will eat cod. He wants his fish to be fried and you know I don't fix it that way. I will poach the cod, wish I had remembered some lemons because poached in lemon juice is awesome? Do either of you ever eat polenta? It's corn so I would want non-GMO and it has to be gluten free. I'll have to remember to look for that at the store.

Greg is here visiting (speaking of the kid, haha) and he and DH have just gone off to McKay's, I stayed here to do laundry and maybe go for a run in an hour or so after my latte has had time to digest. I've got a lot of housework to do too.

Hey Gloria, Well...I think the other bars I find are either at Sprouts or Whole Foods. I love GoMacro bars, although they aren't that much cheaper than the RX bars. I actually tried RX for the first time last week. My husband had them before and said they were gross so I would never buy them. My boss told me she liked the chocolate coconut one and so I bought one and did like them. We have also tried the Square bars, which I don't think Publix or Kroger have. And the Rise bars can be good if you are ok with Whey protein. They used to have one that was pea protein, but they don't make them anymore. I spend a lot of time reading all those labels and sometimes I come across a new one.

Looks like a sunny day and I am glad. Going to help a friend move the rest of her stuff out of her friend's house.

Cold again this morning, but will take it over the downpours.

Looks like you had an active fun day Gloria. And lunch sounded so good, especially grilled sweet potatoes! I'll have to keep that place in mind.

Can't help you on the protein bars, I'll ask the kids or maybe the grandson will have a suggestion. Aldi's seems to be moving into the fitness nutrition movement, maybe they have something.

Speaking of the kid, meeting him and one of his HS friends and his Mom for the Preds watch game this afternoon. Haven't seen his Mom since '90. That's about all there is on this end. Everyone have a great day!

Gorgeous weather today but it sure was cold this morning! I ran with my friends in Hendersonville and then went to Cool Springs for a strength training seminar for runners. I had lunch at Humdinger's in Brentwood, just LOVE that place. I had salmon, grilled asparagus and grilled sweet potatoes. We went to the big new Kroger that just opened Saturday that is near our house. After that we went to Helen's Hot Chicken. The chicken there is decent but it just isn't my favorite hot chicken place. We went for paletas after that at the new paletas place that is here. So it's really been a decent day!

Gwenn, do you know of any good protein bars that aren't full of weird stuff? I know we've talked about this before....I do like the RX bars. Anything else that you can think of that is good? I'd like something with more protein but right now these seem to be the best I can find with the least amount of crap and they are pretty much whole food. I looked at Kroger for the Divine bars but they didn't have them. I'll check again at Publix - I really prefer Publix for meat and produce but there is no store around here that has everything that I need so I ended up going to multiple places all of the time.

As I was driving home just now, the sky cleared; everything looks so clean then as I pulled onto my street - the sun, big and bright right in my eyes! Hopefully it is a sign for a dry and less cold day tomorrow.

Sometimes the back way is the way to do it. Sorry it was ruined by a lousy headache!

Gloria, I hope you got to start your week end on time Gloria! Chillax for awhile.

Frustrates all of us that these stores will not come out to Mt. Juliet. With the growth not just in residential but businesses they are missing out, many of us are not willing to make a special trip East or South.

Yeah, was glad they caught that guy. Can't believe they are including the girl as part of the homicide. I guess they have reason to believe she was part of it.

I can't believe how cold it is! It should start warming up tomorrow. They are supposed to be building a Fresh Market out here. Not sure when it will be done. I like Fresh Market for the produce and sometimes they have good deals on meat, but they are sometimes more expensive than WF. They also don't have all that I need, so I can't shop there for everything. I've had to go back to Kroger because I don't want to go to Green Hills for WF. This Kroger by me has way more organic and natural foods than the one I used to live by. I sometimes go to Publix, but I'm not happy with their selection. I go there when I am lazy. The other day when I went to WF in GH, I went all the back ways and it was delightful, but I had such a headache that I had to get in and out of there because the food smells were making me sick.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Gwenn

Crazy weather, that gully washer yesterday was something else. Donelson's farmers market officially opens today, ACE hardware will continue to host it.

I hope you get outside for a breather today and you have a relaxing week end.

I didn't know you had a Fresh Market up there Gloria. Agreed, at least the one in Brentwood I have been disappointed with for years, sad because I was so excited to see one when I moved here. When I had bronchitis I took advantage of their clickit, to my surprise they picked some really nice produce and lean bacon! The produce almost looked nicer than what they have in the chill chest on the floor.
I prefer Publix too. Krogers has acidolphilus (sp?) milk, nearly half price of Purity so that pretty much is my only reason to even do some shopping there, mostly because it is a hassle to get in and out of the parking lot. We have an old Food Lion closest to us, they have cleaned it up, kept it clean and hired more cashiers so I find myself in there more often. Of course there is Aldi's, I find I am using them more again.

Gwenn I know you'll have a busy week end, looks like the weather will break for it. I hope so at least!

Happy Friday! Kind of hard to believe how cool it is going to be after Saturday's weather. I am ready for some sunshine but it's going to be another busy day at work so maybe I won't be able to get outside anyway.

We got a new Kroger in Hendersonville - they closed the old one by our house and they opened this new one on Wednesday. I haven't been there yet but I hope they have a nice selection of organic foods and bigger healthy section. Wish I didn't have to drive all the way to Green Hills for Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but that probably will still be the case. We have Fresh Market, I do like their stuff okay but it still can't hold a candle to Whole Foods. I still use Publix for the majority of my stuff.

Awwww Gwenn, so sorry things aren't going well with the condo. That is a really bad situation to be in. I kind of thought things would be okay on that side of town. When we first moved here 30 years ago that area was a lot less developed than it is now and my ex-BIL lived over there in an apartment on Cabot so we moved to Bellevue, which was also much less developed (I am shocked every time I go to Bellevue about how much it has grown). Hang in there...maybe if it is a rental the culprit will move.

So it sounds like they are going to check out the young girl for homicide, probably try her as an adult. That is so sad. It makes me think of the life ahead of her at such a young age, her parents, etc. And how to avoid that as a parent - my first reaction was bad parents but then I thought of idiotic things I did as a teen and things that my stepson has done - - he got into heaps of really bad trouble, and I realize that most of us as parents do our best but there is so much more to it than that and a lot of it is just circumstance and bad choices.

Mmmmm, I could go for some Hattie Bs - the line is a turn off for me too, and there is ALWAYS a line. We try to go when we aren't in a hurry. I could go for some Las Palmas too.

Gwenn! They just caught the s o b and the girl is safe and being checked out. Go enjoy Whole Foods. You are brave not to go first thing in the morning. I hate the traffic over there.

Good grief, that is just plain frightening. So for sure you are no stranger to danger! Here it is making the rounds again over the past year, had no idea it was happening years ago. These blatant in home invasions are awful, lately they are back to car jacking.

They have very mild versions of HattieB's, get a glass of milk with your order just to be safe. Milk is the best protector against heat. We have a Las Palmas in Hermitage I think they are the same owners. All I remember is it took forever for them to build, come to find out they built as they had money. Genius!

I just saw a news article that said that about the school. Looked it up on Googlemaps and it is 2.2 miles from me, but it is still near where the shooting took place. Going to Whole Foods later anyway. If they catch him later then I will go out. I'm no stranger to more crime. I remember growing up someone came up to our door in broad daylight and tried to get in the front door. And then someone called my mom and said they had kidnapped me and were holding me for ransom. Of course, that wasn't the case, but she didn't know because I had been at a field trip all day and had worked all night. But murder and kidnapping...yeah, scarier!

Yeah...I feel like everyone in this building is renting except the guy above us is purchasing from the prior owner - and that's where the drama set in there because that woman knows our landlord and is a real you know what. And the kid that is buying it is friend's with her son, so they were texting each other about what was said and then the woman would text our landlord and blah blah. I don't have time or energy for that garbage. While we did smell the smoke when the guy wasn't home, I still question it. My husband has been to almost all the condos but our landlady doesn't know who owns the condos on the other side, as far as the true owner. Anyway....we are over it. Our landlady asked if we were moving out- we told her not at the moment but if it gets worse we might.

I think of you and Gloria when I drive by Hattie B's. My husband has tried to take me several times, although I won't eat hot chicken. The line was too crazy for me because I was too hungry. ha! I will say that I am now addicted to Las Palmas on Charlotte. It is way better than Cinco de Mayo, even though we LOVED Cinco in Brentwood.

I guess I better get to working out so I can get to the store.

Gwenn I started to come by earlier to give you a heads up but got side tracked and didn't hit post. Much as you want to get out, I'd hang low for awhile. Maybe check with one of the tv stations for better coverage.

According to the radio and they aren't much help, no description on the vehicle what they are wearing or anything, haven't had the tv on...they mention they are searching around Brookmeade school, which is empty and I heard earlier something about Davidson St.

Wow, that is unverving and these fools know folks are less likely to report it because fear of being targeted. Are these folks renting from someone else, if so ask the folks that run the show contact the true owner. I know if I were an owner, I'd want to know what they are up to. Unfortunately it is very hard and expensive to get rid of tenants. Have you noticed a lot of people coming and going, if so you can call the police and report that as suspicious activity, they can monitor that. I think if you feel unsafe having the cop come to you, you can meet them, or maybe they would send an undercover. I'm sorry where you two moved isn't working out. Look at it this way, you didn't buy it.

You have a lot going on, good luck to hubs with a job search. It is never easy when someone is unhappy at work. Life isn't perfect.

Sounds like a really busy and fun week end though!

Yay Gloria, that's good to hear that your blister is improved, whoot on the knee too! I hope your first of the month isn't as grueling as it usually is.

Luvin' these cooler temps and happy the winds have died down. Crazy May weather but will take it over major storms anytime. I have a friend in SD that had 6 inches of snow the other day! Memories of upstate NY. Back in mid summer '77 (?) we flew to Wyoming through Denver. We were delayed because of snow in the Rockies. Likely if it weren't a puddle jumper they would have left on time. Luckily it was only in the Rockies because it was nice and sunny in Laramie. In fact I think the kids got sunburned in the pool. Yes, Daddy was instructed to put sunscreen on them before going swimming. I was out with my Grandfather.

Geez, I didn't realize it was so late, everyone have a good midweekday!

It is crazy how cold it is and Friday it doesn't even get to 60! Lots of rain tomorrow.

So I had no idea that shooting took place. I see stuff online but haven't been watching the news. I looked up the address of that gas station and it is a couple miles from me. There are a lot of back residential roads I would have to weave back and forth on but still! Don't think I'll be roaming around outside. Darn- I wanted to take a walk at the greenway. But there are alot of homes, especially on Cabot, which connects with Charlotte right around there.

Great job on your run, despite the shortage. Sounds like they called it the right way with rerouting everyone. Glad nothing like that happened to you.

Nothing much going on here. We are going to the Roller Girls on Saturday with some friends. Should be fun. There is a lot going on this weekend though. The Strawberry Festival at the Nashville Farmer's Market, the craft fair at Centennial, a Dr. Seuss art show at The Factory and I'm sure much more.

Husband is talking about moving out of state again. He is talking 3-6 months. I am totally fine with it if he can find a job. There has been a lot of emotional change for us and he hates his job right now. He is looking and there is at least one that has promise but I don't think it's going to solve some of his issues. It's kind of a long story. Anyway, I've been wanting to leave for a long time but it never seems like the right time or that we are able to. It's always a huge undertaking to do that. I am not happy with where we live. This past weekend we had a big ordeal in which we thought our upstairs neighbor was smoking pot. It was coming into ours through the bathroom vent. After some drama and our landlady freaking out- trying to help us but still frustrating - we still don't know who it is. We think it could be someone on the other side of the building, but who is going to admit to doing that. The condo association told our landlady that we will have to call the non emergency cops the next time it happens. Well, it has happened twice more since that and we are both exhausted and don't feel like being the ones to do that. So we run the bathroom fan all night and whenever we smell it. I'm still having a hard time adjusting to living here and this area. I definitely miss Franklin and considered moving back. Our old neighbors told us our old apartment is still open but there were reasons we moved away. So we are just trying to figure it out and I'm trying to make the most of it.

Gwenn

Gwenn, don't know exactly where you live, but be careful out there, they are looking for that crazy guy with the teenagers this morning, apparently he shot and killed a clerk in the Exxon near Walmart. My morning wasn't nearly that exciting, thankfully. I looked out the window and saw a black and white critter skittering across the yard - right about the time I wanted to leave. I wanted to go but it was headed toward the cars and so I waited for a bit and then cautiously went out there. I could definitely detect the faint odor...but didn't see it. Don't know where it came from but it needs to go elsewhere to live.

My knee seems very good, the nasty blister that has turned one of my toes to mush seems to be better too. These cool mornings sure are nice! Actually this morning I can't seem to get warm enough! They keep it COLD in this office!

Gloria I was in the middle of typing yesterday when I got sidetracked and left without posting.
I'm happy you got to spend some time with your Dad. It's always hard, seems like it is just as hard on him too.

Oh wow, I heard the Medics were hauling folks off but not to that extent. When Mayor Dean did the walk a few years ago (remember the walk100 programs?) at Two Rivers over the bridge into Shelby it was boiling hot and humid that morning, they decided to keep the full 8 mile roundtrip walk. Good thing they had medics there because folks were in dire shape then. Even Camille had to have treatment, her temp was sky high too. I think Bonnie survived without incident. They both had enough left to go to the party on the plaza that evening though! I had CERT training that morning so only walked to Briley and came back, I remember I was starting to sweat just that short distance.

Anyway, take care of that knee and I hope you get out of there at a decent time tonight.

How's everything by you Gwenn?

Council votes again tonight on reigning in the short term rentals in residential areas. It will be another long night. Now the state feels it should step in and take away local rights to regulate this mess. We get it tabled in one committee and someone gets it moved into another committee. This morning it is the finance cmte deciding on taking it to the floor.

Have a good day, enjoy these temps, oh I just heard it will go to 70 today and not as windy, chilly overnight. Good golly that wind yesterday was awful at times.

Good Morning!!! Can you believe how COLD it is this morning? Yes, wish we could have had this weather on Saturday morning. I was able to get out of here yesterday only two hours late, YAY! And so I got home and got to bed at a relatively decent time and feel pretty good today...not too bad for having done 25 miles on Saturday. My knee was swelled up (it often is after a race) but it is better this morning and my achy feet feel better. I got sunburned Saturday too. But overall I feel really good!

I see that part of what I typed yesterday must have gotten cut off. One of the girls that I paced for training had to go in the ambulance to St. Thomas for heat exhaustion and dehydration. Overall I heard that they took 41 people to the hospital, eight people had body temps of over 108, and of those eight, they were concerned that four could have died, but fortunately didn't. Pretty scary.

I had a great visit with my dad. Hated when he left. He has always been a stoic silent type of guy, never shown a lot of emotion but when he left he was a little teary and I was too. I miss my parents terribly. But I don't want to live up there.

My race...there is so much to say about it, I probably should a blog. I thought I finished but when I got done my Garmin only had 25 miles on it. I figured out that because of the heat and humidity they had diverted us so I missed a mile on the course. It was the right thing to do because people were down all over the place but I am a bit devastated because after that brutal training schedule and all the time I put in, and to miss doing a marathon by just 1.2 miles, it is pretty heartbreaking. One of the girls in my pace group had to go in an amub

Hope you all had a great weekend! I am exhausted - was able to manage some laundry and groceries between the marathon and visit but now I am facing a 70 hour work week - it is going to be rough!

In less than 12 hours I will be running. I took today off and slept in a bit, needed that since I've been sleeping poorly lately. Then went back to expo to meet a friend...a SparkFriend who is visiting from upstate New York! First time meeting her, we had a GREAT time and it was like we had known each other forever!

Kelly, hmmmm, the link won't work. Goodness, I need to get myself to bed. I am ready for the race but I need to write down a few things.

Well, Gwenn, if you weren't amped over the amped class, you are in better shape than you give yourself credit for!!! Good for you for trying and looking for new things to do. Let us know. It's been awhile since I've been to Clarksville.

I agree with you, don't know how you do it Gloria. Ah memories, it got to the point where I would drive myself over and meet him there just because I want to get in get out and get somewhere else, so I give you extra points for going for coffee too. If you can't find something in H'ville, then it doesn't exist it seems. Our daughter in law might be interested in some of those things too. And I hope you tummy settles down and it isn't what you dread.

Nothing much going on around here, so have a good one.

Looking for something in bookmarks, came across this...something to think about while spinning

Kelly, I think that the water got really close to the homes across the street from us in 2010 but I don't think any actually flooded. We don't see many people in the lake from our vantage point but we see a lot of boats and people do swim and float off those. Since the tree blew over in the wind we can see the water a little better.

My tummy is still a hot mess, I am hoping it is not colitis rearing it's ugly head. I can't think of anything that I've eaten (gluten) that would make it this way.

There is a barre class at the office, probably I should try it but I think it is the same day that I go to the personal trainer. They opened a Pilates place in Hendersonville and there is a barre place, I should check those out too, as well as the hot yoga place....lots to do and no time to do it!

Went and ran with the East Nastys last night, nice run, over the pedestrian bridge, hate that hill/bridge, haha! Got home way too late and had dinner (in the crock pot). Then DH wanted to go to Target. I just wanted to go to sleep but I wanted some coconut water and wasn't sure he would get the right thing so I went with him....then we had coffee. So I got to bed super late. My best running friend was texting me late too, very unusual but I was laughing so hard and having fun so at the time I didn't care...but now I am tired. Spending time with DH was fun and reminiscent of our younger years when we were in our 20s and things were simple and we didn't care if we got sleep...we would stay up all night and go out to eat or go to 24 hour places (Walmart) or watch the Cartoon Network....just fun and easy.

Wow, that's a lot of water! I was walking at the greenway and the water there was higher than usual.

Gloria, I don't know how you have the stamina to do all these races but good for you! I tried BarreAmped this morning. I'm not sure why they call it amped. So I liked it and I would go back but I didn't find it overly hard. I'm not like a pro at it, but I've done a DVD with Barre and I felt like it was harder. I'm going to go on Friday to a cardio barre class. That one they do intervals of cardio activity in between the barre stuff. I don't mind this type of work but I need more cardio to drop this weight. My friend is going to let me try Barre 3 too. Apparently, that is cardio in it as well.

Good luck at your race this weekend! It is hot out there today, so I can only imagine this weekend. No plans here, which is cool. I thought about going to Clarksville to check it out.

Tired but ahead of laundry and early to bed, good for you but hope the tummy settles in. Wonder is your vitaD or B level tanking again? Take it easy, start hydrating Friday. Hard to believe it is Wed already.

I take it where you are things are relatively safe. The lake side is high and really choppy, folks are letting their little ones stand in it, some were swimming yesterday. Folks on the river side were on the rocks way too close to the water, one slip and bye bye. The levels here were way too high when they finally released in 10 and of course they got blamed for the flooding, can't win - it is never an act of mother nature (yes they should not have waited so long but that river was already high). Haven't heard anything alarming from Kyle about the level, neighbors say they had no trouble in '10. Although his yard gets like a mud pit (familiar), all the water down the hill seems to go past his house. I think it was Christmas Eve FedEx came tearing down his driveway too fast, could not stop and ended up in the mud. First tow broke a line getting him out, a second one managed but first they had another van come and they had to empty the stuck one literally by hand up a hill.

Chilly mornings, hard to believe it will be so lousy on Sat! Have a good day everyone!

I remember when it flooded in 2010 and we saw the Old Hickory dam and that scared the you know what out of me! I thought that thing was going to be compromised. The picture is great Kelly! I want to go look at our dam and see how it look. I know they let water out.

This morning my tummy is still not the best - I think it is usual issues because I otherwise feel fine, albeit tired, but tired is the norm for me so there you go! Yesterday was a rest day from exercise. It's been a pretty relaxed week, I've been able to cook more, I'm ahead on my laundry and get to bed earlier. Just low key.

We'll expect a Barre report tomorrow Gwenn.

Yikes Gloria, at least they were able to get it out without a tow! I don't know if I would even do it a quarter turn, so good for you for standing (or sitting) your ground. How's the tummy this afternoon?

They are rushing water out of dam at the lake and it is awesome to watch, interesting too that the river bed was pretty much dry before the storms so you'd think the water would be moving faster down river. The level is quite high.

Can't wait to hear about barre Gwenn. I might find a class to try after the race this weekend....I will still have more races in May and June and then marathon training starts again in July, so I will need to keep my mileage up, but I intend to relax and chill and try some new things in the meantime. I always do my own thing when I go to spin...the instructor is a drill sargent. I don't go often though...and she knows who I am so she kind of leaves me alone. I just fake it, haha! Full turn clockwise on the tension...and I only go a quarter, hahaha!

They moved race time up on Saturday by 30 minutes---6:45 instead of 7:15, because of the expected heat and humidity.

My stomach is rebelling against me...probably should have stayed home but I have a deadline today. I don't know if it is usual stomach issues or if I ate something bad.

That was a fun surprise, Kelly! Glad you were able to do that.

Gloria, yikes about your car! Glad you were able to get it out.

I'm glad to see the sun again after 2 days of this rain. I think it is back to rain on Thursday, so enjoy it while you can. I am going to try again with Barre on Wed morning. My husband went to spin this morning and it was the same woman we had the time we did it together and it was much harder.

Wow Kelly, so fun to be surprised that way! Even if for overnight, that is just so wonderful. But yeah, the weather was pretty awful wasn't it. How long is puppy staying with you? Nothing like having to take the dog out in all that rain we had....

Husband finally got going with the car, I didn't want to ride with him - you know he does his own thing, his schedule is erratic, whenever he wants and he manages to sit in traffic pretty often...I just don't have time for that. I would get to work late, stay late and be in traffic for twice as long. His friends came over, one towed the car with his truck while DH and the other guy pushed the car (in the rain) and FINALLY we got it out but it wasn't easy. Car looks as if I have been mudding and the yard is torn up. Should see some drying now but it's going to be hot hot hot for the marathon next weekend.

Gloria, thought of you this morning and wondered if your gang went kayaking instead? Lawd Luv a Duck.

If you can find a basic barre class you may enjoy it, or a class that lets you work at your own pace. I took it for a very short while a few years ago, first reaction was - I did this for how many years? Yes I was a slug, probably maybe others felt that way too but it sure limbered me up a bit and strengthened me. You know, I may have to revisit it and find one for old fogies. It likely will help me regain confidence with balance. So youngsters, you can try it too especially if you find a class with turnover because someone is always just learning!

Our son and family headed off to ATL for a volleyball tourney, so I have their fourlegger entertaining me. Then yesterday, daughter calls, usual chitchat. What'd you do for your your birthday (hers was Friday), we headed to GA to pick up the grandkid. We were going to surprise you but thought we'd better be sure - are you home, we're on our way! Hey any plans would be changed. What a great surprise, sad it was only for overnight but to add 400 miles to an already long drive just tickled me. Geez the weather could have been less crappy. I don't know if brother and sister tried to stop along the way to visit and stretch since they would be passing each other.

Gloomy day, nothing interesting. Gloria, I may see if they still need help with registration, did not want to commit til I knew for sure wally walrus had left the building. Well, hope you all found some dry fun to do today, have a good week. Will check back later.

My car is stuck in the mud in our yard. I don't know what is going to happen, might have to get it towed. I don't want to ride to work with my husband because he is on his own schedule, and that means I will be sitting in traffic forever and get there late and be there late, etc. I am kind of waiting on him to say what we will do but I think he has forgotten about it.

This morning I went to Green Hills and ran with one of the women from my Fleet Feet training group and a couple of others joined us. It was drizzly but no lightning like yesterday.

It feels like winter. We just turned on the AC last week and now I wish the heat was on. It's about 65 degrees in this house, too cold for me.

Oh, your husband is lucky to be closer to work for a while too Gwenn! I wish there were more career opportunities up this way but there doesn't seem to be much - and I've been at Cat for so long that I really don't want to start over - great benefits and pay keep me there for now.

How are you feeling Kelly?

I've tried barre, wow wee, that is soooo hard, but that is the kind of exercise I need, core work. They teach one at work but I am scared to try it! Haha!

Our last group training run got canceled this morning, too much lightning (and flooding). I think my tiny group will try again tomorrow morning. That is going to make for a very crazy Sunday so I need to stay focused today and get stuff done around here since I won't have time tomorrow.

UGH I hear you about the traffic. The traffic from Franklin was also terrible and I'm glad I have some reprieve at the moment. My husband is looking for another job and one of them is in Lenox Village and that is a terrible one. Luckily his office moved to the Gulch last month so at the moment he has some relief. I wish there was some advice I could give and it really stinks when there aren't that many back roads to help.

I'm glad you are feeling better Kelly. That sounds like the pits! There are several people at work that are sick for what seems like forever. I really do not want it!

Nothing much going on here. Was going to try a barre class this morning but I canceled it. I'll try it again later. While the weight has crept up and that motivates me to some extent, I haven't been THAT motivated.

Haha Kelly, you made me laugh about the waffle, though I don't think that is the worst thing you could eat! In fact, that is one of my favorite snacks...a frozen waffle with almond butter and some peach jam. YUM! And you had fruit with it so there you go, healthy I say!

Yeah, certainly having no income tax is a huge benefit here. When we moved here from KY my DH was so unsure because the cost of living here was so much higher but we really ended up coming out ahead because of the state income tax and now it's been 20 some years and he isn't interested in going anywhere. They say that the huge revenue surplus is for schools and can't be used for roads so why isn't it being used for schools? Schools in Sumner County (and presumably Williamson and the other outer Metro counties) seem to be pretty good but Davidson County, oh my, I can't even go there and who knows about the other metro areas and rural counties. I know nothing about the budget for the counties or the state so I guess I shouldn't rant too much but something just seems off here....

I've got lunch today with my CPA pals, they are very nice about picking a place where I can eat something that is not too unhealthy (though isn't eating out always in question?). We should be safe with the rain at lunchtime, afternoon commute might be in question though. Everyone be careful out there, they are acting like it could be a lot of rain...and the possibility of flooding.

Hey Kelly, are you volunteering for the race next weekend?

Geez I am sorry you've had such a rotten commute Gloria. Quite frankly the speed limit is way to high for the metro area, folks don't follow it anyway, construction AND the roads are so full of potholes don't help at all. Just crazy.

Those who are celebrating this danged tax are ones who don't drive that often or will benefit $$$$$$$$$$$$$ from contracts - my feeling is we aren't getting our money's worth now. Oh well. Diesel is high enough now as it is, those poor truckers that can't make it through the state without stopping for fuel are going to feel it big time. What annoys me is I don't see the electric cars getting hit in the pocket book for road use. To be honest, our grocery tax isn't that bad considering no income tax - yeah! Rant Over, eye roll please. Ha!

Thanks, doing well; the 'roid pack kicked in quickly. Wish I could blame that on the appetite increase yesterday but I think it was more me than that. So today I must get thyself to the store for freggies. Got home about 9:30 last night from a meeting, starved - frozen waffles with honey and peanut butter and fruit. Just what lardarse needed at that hour,

Actually Gwenn I was at the West Precinct and as I was pulling in I thought - one of these times we should get together before hand. This time I wasn't sure if I was going, but my partner in crime with this group is down with bronchitis too. She overdid it yesterday afternoon, needed to stay herself at home (good for her, she is worse than me about not listening) so since I felt fine and not sounding so much like wally walrus I went. I noticed there is a trailhead of some sort at that precinct. Can't figure out exactly what it is just by looking at my paper map of trailheads. I'll check it out on greenwaysfornashville.org.

Talking about appetite, better feed the belly before I do something stoopid again. Have a good day everyone.

Even leaving at 5:30 a.m. this morning the traffic was backed up. Seriously, I am NOT getting up any earlier than I already do! But I am sooo tired of this. My husband had a dentist appointment yesterday in south Nashville and he said traffic coming back from there at about 10:00 a.m. was just the pits, pretty much a complete traffic jam. So I am still ranting and I know I need to quit because there is nothing I can do about it but it just is sooo frustrating to spend this much time in the car.

Kelly, I hope the steroid pack takes affect quickly so that you can start feeling better in a hurry!

So now the governor has gotten this gas tax thing going. I probably am not as informed/educated as I need to be on this...but doesn't the state have a huge surplus right now? I know that several other elected officials were encouraging him to "find it elsewhere." They said sales tax on groceries will go down a bit but I didn't hear how much.

I agree with Gloria Gwenn - work up to your comfort level on that spinner. Too many of these trainers have watched too many "reality" shows I think. Ha and you got a whopper of a workout Gloria, oops. Good for you treating yourself to a massage though.

I am surprised traffic up there was that bad at that hour Gloria, WOW! That storm yesterday was a whopper here in D'son! Straightline winds did a lot of damage. Add to that Backyard Burger had a fire at the start of rush hour so traffic on Donelson and Elm Hill Pike near the interstate was one big parking lot. I hope the weather is better today.

For sure, the planning commission, council and mayor have all ruined the landscape of this city. I have written more letters objecting to what they are doing - reminding them of the many, many downturns this city has experienced in recent decades. Of course what they allowed to happen to our communities stinks too. Now we are dealing with so called airbnb's, more illegal ones than permitted ones. Oy. Rant over.

After having a couple of fairly good days with this crud, I woke up yesterday just not feeling right. Doc couldn't see me til Fri, her NP not until late this afternoon. I went with my instincts and headed to the walk in clinic. I have bronchial asthma. She said if I have to use my inhaler as often as I did that morning to get myself checked out pronto. OkeeDokee. This crud is not nearly as bad as what I had 3 years ago, geez it took nearly 2 months to knock it out, so I will take this. The last time I wasted no time getting it checked out because I was traveling in a few days. She was a pulmonary nurse in her other life and gave me a lot of good pointers and reminders. So I have a 'roid pack for the week and we talked it over about an antibiotic and I agreed with her to no.

Well everyone have a good day, stay dry.

I left the office at 3:10 yesterday and traffic was already a snarled up mess. It just keeps getting worse every day, I just can't fathom dealing with this commute for 10 more years. I am working from about 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - can't do any earlier - we are required to be here during "core hours", which is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Did you all see the news about how Nashville has the fastest growth of all the the major cities in this country for new apartment construction? And it's not necessarily a good thing in my not so humble opinion, haha!

My arms are still sore from the personal trainer on Monday...and I've got him again today, yikes! Took yesterday off from exercise, had a sports massage. I'll try to get some running in today too, weather permitting.

I've been to Bell's Bend for a race. It is a much further drive for you Gwenn, but if you ever get a chance, try Bowie Park out in Fairview. Don't give up on spin yet...just try it one more time. You do NOT have to stand up on your bike! Just tell them you are new and that you will go at your own pace/level. I am not huge into cycling - I do have a bike and I do go to spin class sometimes but I do it because it is good cross training. I just do my best and don't worry about it. They just started a Zumba class at the office but that's not a thing for me either, haha!

Kelly...is it allergies? I have noticed that a lot of people seem to have them right now. Now that the trees are almost done I guess the grass is going to start. Yeah, maybe see the doctor for preventative to keep it from getting worse! NO, I didn't know about grandson! Wow! Sounds like he is recovering well, that is frightening!

I was so focused on Boston yesterday...one of guys in my pace group was running in it - he is a double leg amputee. What an inspiration.

Went to stamp group - problem is, it is in Brentwood and so it takes a while to get home, it runs late and then I get NO sleep. Last night maybe six hours and that is not enough for me. Plus having to rearrange my schedule for it, that sets off a whole chain of events that will make this week difficult. But it was fun to see my friends and we made some cute cards!

Meant to get on here yesterday to write but my phone wouldn't log on. Hope you all had a nice Easter. We had a nice weekend. Went and checked out Bells Bend Park and literally not a soul was on the trail. We figured out that it is exactly across the river from where we live and it takes about 20-30 min to get there! Would be faster with a boat! We hung out with friends on Saturday at Noble Dairy and saw all the goats and then went down to Bar Taco in 12 South, which was delicious. Also had a doughnut from Five Daughter's. Then yesterday he wanted to go fishing so we went over to a place on the river about 2 min from our house. I forgot that Friday we did the spin class. I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of it. I am way out of shape and was dying through most of it. I do not like standing up and biking and they did a ton of that. He wants to go again on Wed morning. The unfortunate thing is I bought 5 classes and now I don't want to go. At least it was cheap, but I want to know if I can transfer them to him. Surely he could just log in as me. Haha!

This week is pretty slow and it looks like it will be pretty rainy, which is a bummer because I was getting into the groove with outside walking. Looks like I'll be doing a few workouts inside today.

Hope you can get rid of that illness Kelly! And I say enjoy the Stampin Up class tonight. I'm trying to figure out what the next thing is that I want to do. I found the McCabe Community Center and they have some workout classes. I'm not really into Zumba, but maybe I'll try one. I don't know. They are only 3 bucks! I'm feeling like a fat thing because I have been such a slacker, although for medical reasons, and I am motivated in that respect, but it is difficult for me to get into any groove and eat right. I might have to start juicing again.

I say go play with your girlfriends and stamps, the change of scenery will do you some good even if you miss out on some zzzz's. (Easy for me say, I think it will relax you so you may sleep better?) Good luck with the new massage tomorrow too!

Hopefully the traffic will be lighter all week and folks don't drive like moRons like last week. Son bought himself a different car, the Jeep Wrangler was getting too uncomfy for trips more than a few miles. He's holding on to it just to see where the boy ends up being stationed. I don't think I told you all that the tadpole grandson was seriously injured during the last week of SEAL school and is now medically out of the program. He literally broke his neck training, he is recovering very well with mega doses of PT, etc. He wants to stay in SpecOps so we'll see where he ends up.

You are such early birds, it is not all that crowded and even the omelet and waffle line moves quickly, the regular cook is awesome how he gets everyone fed. We meet at 9.

My spring crud is still hanging on, I have alternate good and bad days may have to break down and see Doc just to keep it from getting worse. This is the first time I've had this in over 2 years that time it took months to get over it but then again it started out as bronchitis, don't want that to happen - I got places to go in May!

Everyone have a great week, don't know how much wet stuff there is planned but it sure poured last night.

Monday is here! I'm looking forward to this week, still doing good on getting to work early, and that is helping me immensely...getting here and spending five minutes or ten on Spark and then get to work! I miss the worst of the traffic by getting here earlier and then I still leave at the usual time so those few extra minutes help me get my work done.

Tonight I have my Stampin' Up group in Brentwood. I missed last month and didn't want to miss again but it took some rearranging to be able to go tonight...I do have to say that while I enjoy seeing my friends, I do not like being out that late during the week considering how early I get up in the morning!

Good Morning and Happy Easter! I need to try to remember the Marriott for brunch though I am sure they get too busy on the weekends for us. I like to get in and out and get busy so we usually eat somewhere close. But we would like something different and there aren't too many options in Hendersonville that we both like.

The mimeograph reminds me of the old ditto machines, those smelled good! Things sure are different now. I miss Dick and Jane! Haha!

I want to go to my stampin' up group tomorrow but I had a much needed massage scheduled...sports massage and my calves are so tight, I really need it. But I missed my stampin' group last month too so I hate to miss again. So I canceled tomorrow's session and found a new massage therapist to try out on Tuesday. I will go with 30 minutes for the first time and then if it is what I need, I can do 30 more minutes early next week to get ready for the race on April 29th.

Happy Easter to all of you and your families.

WOW but I am not surprised you got in double digits Gloria! It sure warmed up quickly yesterday, we had some nice breezes in the afternoon though. Good thing you got an early start. I know we felt it coming out of the Marriott a little after 10a. Yeah me, didn't overeat on the the cheese blintzes. Actually wolfed down a lot of fruit, even went back for seconds on that. I always eat fruit first. I think with fighting this spring crud it was just what I needed. having some again this morning.

Those pups love to show off their skills to the public. Sure beats mowing. Love the name of the site, I will have to look it up.

Way back when the earth was young, I used to do the five ballet positions waiting for stuff to get done. Ahhhh memory lane, the hospital EKG and EEG dept did not have a copy machine, done the old fashioned way, it was a 2 step process (almost like a mimeograph, not as messy or smelly).

Well, everyone have a wonderful day.

Haha Rainbowmomma, I have thought of doing pushups or squats at work but we have a full house, I think people would look at me funny, though maybe not, they know I like to work out.

Sure has been nice and warm. We ran 15 miles this morning, It was about 80 by the time I got done. I am trying to embrace the heat and get used to it because it is just going to get hotter later! Part of the route went around the golf course/Richland Greenway. Pretty nice out that way. I think that was my first time out there.

So some of my friends did the Purity Dairy races today and one of them posted some pictures of some sheet being herded by dogs...and apparently this is a way to keep grass cut...this was along the route of the greenway near the Cumberland River close to Metro Center I think. Anyway, look up Nashville Chew Crew and you will find it online - I thought it was pretty awesome.

Commute was so nice today. Loved it! Why can't it be that way every day? I am considering moving to a smaller city, I can't take this traffic anymore and can't afford to move back closer to work, but I also can't move away from my friends....so what can I do? Makes me sad. My husband likes it here too but he would be more inclined to move than I.

I will be the only person on my team here today. We used to get Good Friday off but not this year. Most people took vacation days. I will save mine for later but I am feeling jealous of all of my friends who are going running this morning.

My husband said the pool water is only 62. That is a disappointment, I thought that it would be warmer since it has been such a warm winter and hot spring. I don't want to turn the heater on yet because the nights are cool so it won't retain the heat. But I want to be in that thing in a couple of weeks, ya know?

Lots of allergies here - not for me but for many others, including my husband who has been miserable for about a month now. I was choking and hacking yesterday and someone told me it sounded like allergies...no, I was choking on a piece of pineapple and it was very reminiscent of the days when I had acid reflux and was aspirating that stuff pretty much constantly.

Kelly, YES! I want to try the spin classes in the water too. They don't have it at the YMCA by my house but one of these days when I am not overwhelmed with stuff, I will give it a try!

Welcome RainbowMama!!! One step, one bite at a time and we are here to help you along the way. It's really nice to have a fresh face. Congrats on the scale moving south too.

I live in Donelson but not doing an active scheduled program but will cheer you along. I need someone to take portion control on me! I have friends that go to Krazen and enjoy the classes (?think that's what its called) off Lebanon Pike past the post office toward D'son. You don't have to be 50 but 50 Forward has a lot of great classes.

Gloria is our running guru, that is a great suggestion on working on hips - which I think, wait I know, I should work on because I noticed I'm favoring my right knee again. That is a great goal, if you are a fast walker that would be an option too, walk and run and finish ahead of the pack. Bet you can do it.

What fun Gwenn, trying something different and enjoying it. Gloria gave some great tips on spinning, it is okay to go at your pace. I would love to try the water spin classes but they are hard to get into. (Laughingly I am safer on a three wheeler)

Well the spirng crud has found it's way here. Mostly respiratory and not too bad but enough to annoy me. I just hope it stays that way and doesn't go into full bloom.

It's tempting to want to move, but it is getting so stinking expensive no matter where you go. You'll be enjoying your pool in no time Gloria.

Enjoy your day, really rained hard here last night; looks like a sunny day today.

Hi Rainbowmama!!!!! Welcome! Love your goal to run a 5k by 50. I did something similar, took up running at 47? 48? Can't remember now. I LOVE it. My first 5k was the Franklin Classic in September of whatever year that was. Over time your knees will get stronger and better (research shows this) but in the meantime, work on out hip strengtheners because surprisingly enough, that will help your knees.

Gwenn, you will LOVE spin class! I really like it, don't do it often though because of time constraints. Just like any other fitness activity, you just do it at YOUR level! When they say increase the tension on the bike (to make it harder to peddle) you just turn it to your comfort level (they will say turn it a quarter or a half, you just do what you want). Also, if they say stand, you just do what you are comfortable with.

We've rented bikes, that is fun too. Now I have one but don't use it as much as I should. I really need my husband to get a bike so I have someone to ride with.

Welcome Rainbowmama!

Ate badly today but it was a bad day, so I needed it! Went back to the greenway yesterday and rented a bike. It was kinda fun! I miss my bike. I hope it's nice weather tomorrow because I'll probably walk over there. Friday night we are both trying a spin class. I'm quite terrified!

Hello Nashville!
I'm Crystal. 43yo Mom, administrative assistant, artist and working on dropping 150lbs. 8 down, too many more to go. I've set a goal for myself of running a 5K by 50! Now, if only my knees would stop fighting me, I know I can get there. I'm hoping to find a workout buddy in Hermitage if anyone is in my area, let me know.

Rain today maybe? I was reading an article about the housing market in Nashville. Made me feel like selling our house, but of course, it's a real challenge buying a new one. We opened the pool yesterday. It will be a few days before it is ready to get in, and then I will turn the pool heater on.

Oh, yes, it could be Easter traffic. This morning I got up a few minutes later than I should have but then heard about the huge wreck on I-65 at Rosa Parks so I high-tailed it and got myself out the door a little early, took Ellington Parkway in and made it here about 15 minutes early. No doubt had I waited just 15 minutes more I would have been in a traffic jam. It's usually a traffic jam at my regular time anyway so I have actually been leaving about 15 minutes earlier lately and it makes a world of difference. I am starting to hear our traffic being compared to Atlanta and I certainly can't even fathom that. Yes, 440 is a hot mess, I can't believe they won't fix it. What's up with that? I remember when 440 didn't exist...they built/opened it shortly after I moved to Nashville almost 30 years ago. Lot's of change I have seen over the past 30 years...airport didn't used to be where it is now either. There is a lot that I remember that is different.

Hot again today! Last summer I ran in the mornings to avoid the heat but this year I am going to try to acclimate to the heat - should help me run better, not that my running is good right now anyway, ha!

Seemed like Easter was so early the past couple of years, Palm Sunday crept up on me too. Actually Lent went by quickly for me. Beautiful day again!

I'm thinking it's Easter traffic. I went up to Kyle's yesterday afternoon, had to wait to get onto Conference Dr to get on the freeway instead of going through H'ville. If I did that I would have missed dinner probably. It wasn't any better around Mt. Juliet or OpryMills.

A lot of folks are not happy about losing Good Friday, what I hear Passover, even Easter has been taken away from many. What's with that, what lame holiday are they replacing it with? I bet you are worn out Gloria, it takes almost a month to recover then you start all over again. Take care.

Interesting hike you guys took Gwenn, picked a good day for it. I had heard about it, but had no idea where it was. Good you have an easier commute too. Holy cow, what a mess 440 is, like riding the back roads.

Nothing exciting going on on this end, so everyone have a great day.

Palm Sunday. I had completely forgotten that Easter was coming, just too frantic and crazy. Until last year we got Good Friday off but they took that away this year. I could use the day off but don't want to use vacation time. Looks like another lovely day! I hope to sit outside with my chai fur a bit.

I don't know what is going on with traffic on my side of town. Now it's even bad on the weekends...like sitting and sitting and sitting in tons of traffic, moving sometimes at about 5 mph. Happened last Saturday and happened today. As if it isn't bad enough during the week, now I am dealing with it on the weekends.

I know where Owl Hill is. I actually ran past it on my Ragnar journey! So it must be off Murray Lane because that is where I ran.

20 miles today....I am proud to be able to do 20 miles though I am still frustrated with how slow I have gotten over the past few months...it's really weird. But was listening to a podcast today about aging and hormones and maybe this isn't so weird after all.

Did I mention that we got a new Mexican place in Hendersonville? I might have already said that, lol. It's called Mangos and there is also one in Lebanon. We didn't like it enough to go back.
