I actually go around 12:30 but that's mainly because I don't go anywhere and I start work at 9. What if we went at 11:30? Do you think it would be terribly busy then? If I need to go early then I'll just bring some snacks for the afternoon. :)

Wow Gwenn, you are movin and groovin through the alphabet, bet your boss is impressed. I'd say since she bought that book she wants to keep you. Guys don't understand to move out of the way. Did you mention they could use some air circulation in the file room, since it obviously has been awhile since anyone spent any time in there they probably aren't aware. Or pick up one of those little portable fans. Anyway, sounds like you found a good fit.

11 o'clock works for me for lunch.

How much fun is this, Donelson has a famous Miss Piggy. I can't think of her name though. Funny what four leggers we come across isn't it. Our daughters neighbor has chickens and roosters, those danged roosters don't have a time clock. Next door to them is a bull farm and the baby bulls get loose once in awhile and come over, with mama right behind them. Never forget the look on hubby's face the first time it happened to him, he was worried about upsetting mama or that daddy was near by. then of course a couple of years ago, mama bear and her cub showed up foraging for food. Wildlife said they were relocated from the Orlando area and there was nothing to be done about it. Fortunately nothing serious, yogi (he came by so often and was so hilarious stealing garbage they had to name him) had enough respect for their 6 pack of dogs he wasn't interested in coming in and mom rarely was seen. Oh, by the way - they live in the boonies. Or did you figure that out? So hearing about these animals just tickles me.

I know, it feels like someone left the chill chest door open this morning. Odd rains last night, I was over on the far west side, and it would downpour for a few minutes, nothing then again, luckily nothing driving home. But coming home, way off to the northeast was some awesome lightening. Happy it stayed there.

This week is going so fast. Guess I'd better get the trash out before I forget about it again. I'm fixing to get ready to do some fall cleaning. Have a great day ladies.

It has been cold in the mornings, yes! I've been wearing a long sleeved shirt to run in and Tuesday morning I could actually see my breath when I first started. I am honestly not a fan of cold weather because I pretty much freeze all of the time, but I do have to say, for running, this is MUCH better!

Sounds like you daughter has a great attitude about the commute Kelly, that is good. I try to listen to a PodCast on the way home, that helps pass the time. But each one is about an hour and it usually takes me longer than that, so then I am stuck with the radio. And the PodCast only comes out once a week - right now I am listening to some old ones so I guess I will have to find something new to listen to when I run out of those.

I didn't know about the pig over by McGavock! My friend lives on McGavock, I need to ask her about this! Anyway, someone at work told me yesterday about that pig right after I saw your post here, so that was funny. That is HILARIOUS about the horse! When we lived off Haywood Lane in South Nashville there was a rooster in one of the houses behind us, and this was way before chickens were legal, and then later some people about three houses down got ducks. But the most interesting thing was one day my husband sent me a photo on the phone of a DONKEY in our backyard. Or maybe it was a mule, but it doesn't matter, it was a live equine type of animal. Guy on Haywood Lane had a donkey and it had gotten out of it's corral and wandered over to dine on our yard, which was way too long and needed mowing. DH went to tell the owner and the poor old guy, his wife had just passed away and he was out there chasing that a** all around people's yards and streets, etc. So now there is a pig a few houses down from us. Too funny!

So for the 11th, when do you usually go to lunch Gwen? I go at 11:00, to beat the crowds and because I am usually starving by then. But we can go whenever, as long as I know ahead and can plan it, I'm good. Kelly, what works for you? We will consult with Toni too, when she is back and able to get on here.

Oh how I love this weather and it was cold this morning! I was lazy and didn't get up for my morning workout until 2 hours later, but my husband was out at 6 and said it was freezing.

I hate traffic! I am only working 2 days a week at the moment but I don't know if I ever want to go FT unless I move closer to Nashville. I honestly can take the morning commute better than the evening one, probably because I'm more tired at night. I have been taking Mack to Hillsboro the whole way because every day there is some kind of wreck on 65 and I can go faster on a slow road. I've taken it at night several times, but it takes way longer then. I do better if I bypass 440 altogether and get on 65 somewhere else. God help us when more people move here.

That's funny about the pig! I bet it's one of those pot bellied pigs that are considered pets. I know Nashville allows chickens because the guy I work with has several. It's weird to me that chickens are tolerated in subdivisions. Even though I'm sure the eggs taste better, I'd still rather get them at the store. Too much work and money. My brother has some and he has told me a lot about them.

Work is going pretty good. I'm still in the file room although I'm on the letter S now! LOL I moved a bunch of files around to different cabinets yesterday and I was sweating. It's really uncomfortable to be doing this type of work in a stuffy room with dress clothes and heels on. A couple weeks ago I had to do it in a suit. I'm ready for this part to be over because I would like to work on something else and sit at my desk. Yesterday I was going to my desk and this guy was in the way, so I was waiting for him to cross the hall and I guess he didn't understand that I have a desk and I really don't have a desk in the file room! My boss bought me a book to help me learn about patents and I'm actually a little intimidated by the next things on the list, but I'm sure I'll catch on soon. She's very open to me learning and being interested which is really great.

What time are we meeting on the 11th?

Happy belated birthday Toni!

Gwenn

I think what makes it a bit easier for her is the entire trip is not one big parking lot, and she said she remembers her Dad saying his long commutes gave him time to decompress, and she still thinks of how he managed to do it for so long. Fortunately, many years he commuted by train or bus. One advantage to that was, it forced him to leave work so he could get home at a reasonable hour. I don't envy you Gloria, not at all, really, cleaning toilets, waste of time for that haha.

Maybe a pigmy pig for a pug but not a pig pig...that is hilarious and so happy you got to show you aren't crazy! Poor thing if she's being kept in too small a cage, maybe that's why she wanders away. There is a family on McGavock Pk, near Lebanon Pk, that has a big ole pink porker and yes, folks thought many of us who were sure we saw her needed to stay away from happy hour. Sure enough she wandered too close to the road, traffic jam more from the lookey loo's. Now she lays out in the side yard, folks pull in and visit for a bit and are on their way. When we lived in Knoxville there was a farm in back of us that had pigs that would come up, break through the make shift fence and visit. Their horses and cows would come up and beg for treats too. I think the funniest thing was when we lived in PA, had the kitchen window open and I was doing something there, next thing I realize there's a horse with her head in the window!

Davidson allows chickens but there are a lot of restrictions including no roosters and of course HOA's override that law.

Gwenn how's the job going?

Hope you had great weather for your birthday Toni, know you are with family but sunshine always makes it better.

Toni, wherever you are right now, hope your birthday was most wonderful!

Kelly, I remember you told me about your daughter's commute, yuck, just YUCK! I feel like time in the car is just wasted time. I could be doing something so much better, like cleaning toilets, bahahaha! Seriously, that is how much I dislike wasting time in the car. Way back in the day I worked at Grassmere Office Park off Trousdale and home was five miles away. How I wish for that ease and convenience!

Did I tell you all that there is a pig in my neighborhood? Where I live is very residential, and I am sure not zoned for livestock...not even sure about chickens. Anyway, I kept seeing what I thought was a pig in a backyard but my husband never saw it and thought I was crazy. One day there was a pug there and I thought pig/pug, I know I am crazy but I know I didn't get those two things confused! Too much of a difference there! Well sure enough, these people have a pig. It's maybe six or seven houses down and across the street. I am not too knowledgeable about pigs but maybe it is a pot-belly? It is often in a cage when it is out there but it is getting quite large and I am not sure if it will be able to be in the cage for long. I am so fascinated and curious about it but I really don't know why anyone would keep one for a pet unless they lived on a farm.

Word on facebook has it that today is Toni's birthday!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Okay, I remember seeing that too but guess I thought the other building was that. Oh boy, HCA is building a huge building on Charlotte! Saw that too Saturday (grand tour because I thought my way to point B was thataway and it wasn't) That's going up quickly too.

I don't envy your commute. Our daughter commutes 90 miles each way and probably does it in about the same time going in (butt crack of dawn). Getting out is the same as you though. To be honest, traffic is bad everywhere. Used to be able to take Lebanon Pk into and out of town it's a parking lot too in spots.

Luvin' today, just closed the back door, aired out the house since 5a, on my way out to grab some vitaD, so have a good one. Will raise a glass of sumthin to you later Toni!

Ha! That big hole on West End is a big question in my mind Kelly! It is STILL there. The new large building is actually on Broadway. So my question about the ugly big hole....what is up with that anyway? Property is at a premium now, so expensive and hard to come by, yet that guy can't get any funding to build anything there? He was going to build the big office building for HCA there and that all fell through, and now HCA's new building is almost done in the lower gulch area, near Charlotte. The growth and development here is just crazy. I am very troubled by the traffic and increase in crime - as far as the skyline, well, it happened. But the traffic....I just can't imagine driving to work down here for another 10 years as bad as it is getting. Now they are going to build a Whole Foods on Broadway to go with all of the apartment buildings and as much as I LOVE Whole Foods, I think things are just going to get so much worse. Sometimes it takes me 30 minutes just to get from Caterpillar to the Interstate...and then when I get to the Interstate it is so backed up I end up going through downtown and taking Ellington...it almost always takes at least an hour to an hour and a half to get home unless I leave quite early. One day took my husband two hours to get home. But moving back to Nashville? Not sure that is going to happen either since the prices of homes has gotten overly ridiculous and ours isn't ready to sell anyway.

Race in October is Seven Bridges in Chattanooga. My goal is just to FINISH. No time goal and I might walk a lot.

Kelly, I clicked on Gwenn's link and then went to the search option of the website and found the article that way. It was very interesting!

It seems the cooler air moved in a day ahead, supposed to only be in the 80's today. Overcast now, so have the back door open but it feels like it's getting muggy don't think it'll be open much longer.

If it is where I think you're talking about, that has been a big gaping hole for what 6 years it seems. I didn't notice it Saturday. It upsets me to see what they have done to our skyline, add to it the ugly buildings. I'll not get on my soap box.

Agreed, the humidity Saturday was something else. I was out in it most of the day, just grateful I wasn't stuck in a booth somewhere. So if it bothered you Gloria, it must've been something. Geez 17 miles, I still am in awe of you! Which race are you doing Oct 16th, local?

I meant to read that article, will go do that next.

Well, everyone have a great week - hopefully it will be a cooler one.

Gwenn, I tried to open your link, server not found then I tried copy paste, error 404.

Seems like they actually believe we are going to have some more seasonal weather finally....it will be a huge adjustment going from soooo hot to actually being a little cooler. Already seemed like it was cooler and lower humidity this morning.

No resting for me this weekend, nope. Training prevails, and we did 17 miles on Saturday. The humidity stomped me, usually doesn't bother me so much especially when it is only in the 60s in the morning but I never did get to feeling good. Our miles keep getting shorter and shorter now until race day, which is October 16th.

Wow, that's an interesting article Gwenn, thanks for sharing that.

So coming to work today on the interstate, saw a very tall building...WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? New building in mid-town. Most buildings down here are mid-rise but this one looks to be around 20 stories. How did I not notice it before? I drive here EVERY DAY! It's near the split at Broadway/West End. I think it's probably more apartments.

I saw that there is a craft fair at Centennial this weekend. Also, I would stay away from downtown Franklin as they have that music festival over there.

I know Gloria, it's like two different days lately...nice in the morning then wham! Humidity yesterday could've gone bye bye too. Maybe I noticed it more because I had been in an overly cold building earlier.

Are you off and running this week end Gloria or are you taking a rest? Oh and Toni, enjoy your trip and here's early birthday wishes, don't remember exactly when it is.

I almost prefer to be a wall flower going into a function, especially if I don't know many there but mostly always happy to have gone (then happy to leave).

The Donelson Fifty Forward (senior center) is doing their annual big fundraiser today and tomorrow. Great bbq and music, plus the usual silent auction and basement sale. They used to have it over Labor Day, called it Party on the Pike, 4 or 5 yrs ago it was so windy, I mean high winds, heavy rains AND cold, we renamed it Puddle on the Pike. Also, the Buchanan Log House is doing their Annual Open House tomorrow, I believe they will have active displays of life there in the earlier days. And of course the farmers market is alive and well this afternoon!

Hilarious, wonder how long the banners at Western Kentucky U making fun of the criminals at Vandy will be allowed to stay up? Or will they be charged with hate speech and have to provide a safe place for the kiddos with hurt feelings?

Have a great week end!

It's Friday gang, so what is going on this weekend? Not much that I know of, I am looking forward to a nice quiet weekend. I see the forecast says cooler weather next week, dare we believe it? And what about gas? I have enough to get to tool around Hendersonville this weekend but will need some for work on Monday. There seems to be plenty, right now I just want the price to go down another $0.30 a gallon to get it back to where it was before this debacle!

I hear you about the socializing Gwenn. I don't ever go to the office parties. It's hard enough for me to go to the professional events that I must go to as I would rather sit and read than talk to strangers.

The cooler mornings have been nice but the day time highs are still high! I'm now hearing maybe middle of next week we will see a cool down? But I've heard that so many times now that I don't believe it. So happy autumn, for what it's worth.

Not much new happening on my end....just work work work, trying to manage my time and get enough sleep, you know, same as usual!

It was definitely wonderful weather this morning and last night. The party was nice - I tried to do my best at socializing and I did take the bus. The view was beautiful and it wasn't too hot. I'm glad I didn't have to go in today though as I had a hard time going to sleep. Plus there was traffic to 65S due to construction, so I ended up going home some round about way and took like an hour to get home. So annoying.

Nice weather again this morning and once again I didn't get up. I met a girlfriend last night after work and we had a great visit but I got to bed super late and was too tired. And here is the thing..I am really not a morning person! I seem to sleep much better if I don't go to bed so early. Last night I ended up sleeping very well, just not long enough since I did have to get up for work unfortunately! Ha! But I've always been a night owl and I am not sure that forcing this morning stuff is working well for me. The class that I like at the YMCA is at 5:00 a.m. though so somehow I need to make it work out and incorporate the running in there too.

I sure do miss the Noshville over by my office. Just loved that place and so sad they closed. We never get to the one in Green Hills because we don't often drive to Nashville on the weekends but I used to go for an early lunch one weekdays and have brunch at the one that was over here.

Hope I didn't pass the eaty day on to you Gloria, it was visiting here Sunday and yesterday. Geez was I miserable last night. So here's to it not kicking in on you, seems like there won't be a repeat today, keep telling myself the bloated feeling is not worth it, besides there's nothing left in the house to trigger it!

Oh yes, really nice this morning, your bod must have needed that extra snooze!!!

I don't know about the food trucks, even Nosh Nashville doesn't carry them (at least the one at the airport doesn't). I ate so much Jewish and Italian in NY last month that I came home way heavier.

Not much going on on this end, everyone has a good one. Gwenn, take the bus and have a good time.

Anyone notice how nice it is outside this morning? And me, I slept in and didn't go out and run or walk. I'm feeling like today is going to be an eaty day....the day where I think I am starving when most likely I am not, haha!

Woot Woot Gloria! You go girl! Gwenn have big fun at the party! Kelly, I feel your pain from missing the blintzes! Go to NYC - there's a food truck with blintzes on every corner! LOL! I wonder if any of the Nash food trucks make them?

Getting packed up and ready to roll around here. Can't wait to see the kids!

It was humid this morning but this afternoon, while quite warm, feels so much better! It's supposed to be really nice later tonight and in the morning but still close to or above 90 for a few days. I am sitting out on the patio and really enjoying it but I need to work on some things inside.

Whoot Gloria!!! Look at ya! You should be the poster child for the runners group. Wear that First Place with pride, we will stand by ya and brag we know you. Happy to know it was a huge success.

Really, outdoors hope they had a canopy or something for you to be in Gwenn. Did they have you directing traffic or what was going on? That must be some party for them to provide a bus, or is it like so many places, parking is at a premium space wise. I'd just go with the flow and take the bus just for the fun of it. Enjoy!

My vitaD is just that, seem to remember them mentioning vitaK if things didn't improve. Thinking levels are up since he didn't call back with further instructions. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind meanwhile I'll just pay more attention to what I'm not eating.

Have a great week!

I tried to reply yesterday but these blasted ads were prohibiting me.

Anyway, Toni, I hope your knee is better with the shot.

Gloria- Congratulations on winning first in your age group! Glad you didn't get drenched. I actually got gas Friday afternoon at the Kroger in Franklin and the lines had sort of started. At first, I didn't understand why and then I remembered the news story. I think people are just panicking and the media is stirring it all up. We went to Second Harvest yesterday and my husband was going to get gas before hand at the Exxon and it was completely out. When we were going back home they had refilled some of the pumps. We saw plenty of lines Friday night, which were insane. I should be good for about 2 weeks as I have a huge tank and I try to only drive when I have to anyway. They aren't supposed to be raising prices to crazy amounts because of the state of emergency. I know from my experience during some of the past hurricanes, if they do raise it to something nuts, you can report it.

Kelly - Sounds like an enjoyable breakfast. You should take Vitamin K with Vitamin D. If you can find one that is combined, that is the best thing. I take one made by Designs for Health, which I buy online. I had a leg cramp the other morning and so I thought I probably needed some potassium and I drank coconut water and ate half a red pepper.

I'm getting more of the hang of my schedule. Friday I was outside from 10-1 on 5th Avenue for the library's parking lot park. It was quite toasty. Tuesday night is a company party at Aerial and this is the first work party thing I have ever gone to. They have a bus to take us which I was going to use, but I'm considering driving so I can leave when I want to. My boss suggested an Uber, but not really wanting to do that. We'll see how brave I am.

BTW, forgot to ask if everyone is okay with fuel for their vehicles? What a ridiculous situation. DH had enough to get to Cool Springs tomorrow but not enough to get home so we got gas at Sam's where they hadn't jacked the price up quite as much as other places. My car is a hybrid and gets great mileage and I should have enough enough for the week.

We had a great race, wonderful for the inaugural event, I was impressed because it was very organized and well supported. Shirts were awesome, medals were great. I got done before the rain started but there were definitely many who got totally drenched. I stayed a while and took some pics of my friends coming in at the finish but was under an awning so mainly was dry. Toni, yes, it is crazy to think that it was just a couple of years ago that I was doing my very first 5k and now I'm training fora full marathon...WOW! As someone who was totally nonathletic, even as a child, who NEVER ran a day in her life, this is really incredible and wonderful. The route yesterday was very hilly and it was quite humid and warm but I impressed myself - it wasn't my fastest half marathon and it wasn't my slowest but given the conditions, I am very proud of myself and I actually came in first in my age group! Woot woot!

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. I can't believe it is still this hot and humid. Never-ending summer someone recently said. I am doing my computer thing and then I need to get to work...cleaning up around the house, getting ready for the workweek. I've already got the groceries done and laundry is going.

Take it easy Toni, just in time for your trip too.

Hope the monsoon held off until after your race this morning Gloria. If it had been tomorrow would have driven up but had breakfast at the marriott this morning - without blintzes!!! GASP they only made one batch and the group ahead of us did not save any. We were there at 9, they must have opened the place. The omelet guy said he already gave them whatfor and they had to do better. Awhile back they took them off the buffet, me a few others hounded them until they put them back.

Other than that, quiet on this end, enjoy the rest of the week end.

I copied and pasted the link and it worked that way. I'd say expensive for sure. Maybe Publix will carry them more often as they become more popular.

Is the Hendersonville thing Saturday or Sunday? You'll do fine, amazed because you always look great after any race.

Gwenn did you get swallowed up in a file cabinet?

Have a good one!

Yeah, when the doc said I was vitamin D deficient I practically laughed in his face. Told him I am more likely a candidate for skin cancer, not vitamin D deficiency. That sounds funny but of course it is not. I need to be more diligent about sunscreen! Doctor didn't tell me to eat anything in particular, just take a supplement.

Not sure what is going around the big city this weekend. I know I will be doing the Inaugural Hendersonville Half Marathon. It is such a hilly course, I expect to be walking a lot. Otherwise just hanging around the homestead.

Found these awesome cookies at Publix, gluten free, non-GMO, soy free, sugar free, etc. Loved them! But they told me at the store they are only available once every four months or so, and they are wildly popular and sell out in a heartbeat. Later I got some at Amazon but then they sold out of them too. Sheesh. Amazon has them again. They are called Alyssa's. Here is the link. They aren't cheap but they are tasty and I feel like I'm getting a nice treat for not too many calories!

Well, I think the link isn't working. emoticon

It is the big one by the airport and I think it's only on week ends. They also have someone to do omelets, both white and whole. I've been known to take a blintz apart and eat the filling. I hear you about not wanting to venture anywhere after your commute. Nice thing is it is right off Briley.

I forgot about coco water for potassium. Don't buy it as often since they stopped putting it on sale. I'm surprised you need extra VitaD, you are so active; what is it they suggest you eat with it to help with absorption? Class, that is our assignment, haha. Odd thing too is my red and white blood cells were low but hematicrite however you spell it is well within normal limits. He wasn't concerned about it, he is also a Hematologist (he was hubby's) so I won't either.

Doesn't feel as humid out, seems like it hits here in the afternoon. Have a good day!

Hey Gwenn and Toni and anyone else looking in!

Mmmmm, cheese blintzes, sounds so yummy. But of course not gluten free. Is this the airport by the Marriott? Do they have the buffet on the weekends only or every day? And is it really busy? I need to find some good breakfast places that both DH and I like. Part of the trouble is we don't like going out of Hendersonville too much on the weekends. I like First Watch and Panera, he likes the greasy diners and Cracker Barrel. There are some places in Nashville that I like too but driving there on the weekends (after driving there every weekday, yuck).

Great news on the CT scan, hope the labs are good! I have to take Vitamin D, so funny since I am in the sun so much with no sunscreen (naughty me and my skin is showing the effects). As far as potassium, I sure do hate bananas but I love coconut water and that has a lot in it.

I was wondering what was going in there, have to be up that way this week or next so will give it a try. Gluten isn't a problem for me but the heat is - sets off asthma. Men, in fact others, just don't understand why you don't want to take an extra bite or two. I'm a salad fan too but not for breakfast. Well, seems when we go to the Marriott for the breakfast buffet, I load up on a lot of fruit first. That way I'm less likely to eat too many cheese blintzes. We won't talk about the bacon on my plate. Saving my fat calories for this Saturday. Anyway, thanks for the heads up!

CT results are in and all is great, waiting on all the labs. Think I may be low on VitaD, somehow have been lax on taking it and hopefully my potassium levels are up. Trying to eat the right stuff for that.

Hot and humid again, this feels more like August than mid-September. Seems like we get a break for a day or two and then it's back to status quo. We tried out a new hot chicken place close to Rivergate last night, on Myatt Drive. It's called Slow Burn Chicken. It burned all right, lol! But seriously, my husband was distraught when I didn't eat much of it. He knows how much I love hot chicken. But it isn't gluten free and I don't want to deal with the consequences! I do recommend this place if you ever get up that way - they were extremely friendly and the food was good. We tried Helen's Hot Chicken up in Rivergate, not liking that one so much. My big thing right now is salads...I just want salads a lot...breakfast, noon and night.

Mooch has good days, the meds seem to finally be kicking in, thank for asking. I hear you, there won't be anything beyond the current meds to keep her comfy. Wow, 17, a long beauttful life in spite of the vet visits. Oh my.

Odd how the fly overs are a nuisance then it's a weird eerie.

Looks like we will try for the 11th!

No, we shall never forget, I remember it all so well as Deutsche Bank had a building at the WTC and offices in it as well....lots of people from Nashville were up there working that day and many of our staff was from there and still had family up there. We were so frightened, especially when our co-workers were calling us telling us about running running running away from it....some had been in the building, some were on the way, some were still across the river in Jersey City watching it from their hotel rooms. My clients later told me how they had to walk home, over the bridges, to find their families in New Jersey or Connecticut or wherever, and how there were 100s walking because mass transit was completely stopped - and I think that the wonderful thing about it was how everyone came together and we were all one in that horrific aftermath. I still remember thinking it couldn't be real...it was just a bad movie. My parents were traveling and I couldn't get hold of them and then I remember the eerie silence of no jets for a few days - we lived right on the airport flight path for one of the main runways (we lived off I-24 just off Haywood Lane and it was like we could reach out and touch those planes as they flew over). It was strangely quiet. Wow. No, I think we will not forget the lives and ruins, but we prevailed. This country won't be beaten down without a fight.

Soooo.....Happy Monday y'all! Kelly, how's Mooch doing? I told my husband last night that we aren't doing any kind of special treatments or trips to the vet for Earl. He is afraid of everyone except me and my husband, and at the vet he quivers and shakes and sticks his claws into me as tight as he can and won't let go. We won't do anything extraordinary because that would probably give the fraidy cat a heart attack! He is 17 and he has been the best cat and has been very happy and healthy so we will just do what we need to in order to keep him happy and comfortable. When it's his time we will know. He continues to eat and seems very happy and content but he is still losing weight.

Yes, if it works for you ladies to do the 11th, that might be a better option. I want to say that the 4th will work but not only is that month end closing for us, but it is quarter end too and I just never know. Sometimes I am working 60 - 70 hours a week then - and honestly, things are much much better on that front but who ever really knows and I would be so disappointed if I had to miss.

The races this weekend were in Townsend. 5k was Friday evening and it was hotter than blazes out there, maybe around 91. Misery. The half marathon started just outside of Maryville and went to Townsend - not on the main road between the two but on the old road that is across the river from the newer bigger road. It was a beautiful course and when we started it was barely dawn and the weather was gorgeous. The first 10 miles along that road is tree canopied and follows the river so it was very pleasant. It's a slight grade up the whole way but I really didn't notice - seriously, the Franklin/Hillybilly half is MUCH worse as is the route for the upcoming Hendersonville half. I didn't run my fastest but I ran at a pace that felt pretty good up until 11 miles....Then we were out on the main road again and there were no trees and the sun was beating down and I thought I would take a short walk break. That break ended up being a mile. I had to do some serious chatting with myself - legs didn't hurt, lungs were fine, so why was I walking? Being hot wasn't really a good excuse so I ran from 12 to 13.1 to end. Several friends were there and we ate together and had a nice time. I had been kind of ambivalent about this race but I really really enjoyed it.

The Eleventh Of September
Written by Roger J. Robicheau 2002
We mourn their loss this day this year
Those now with God, no danger near
So many loved ones left do stand
Confronting loss throughout our land
My heart goes out to those who do
No one can fathom what they view
I firmly pray for peace of mind
Dear God please help each one to find
And to our soldiers now at war
God guide above, at sea, on shore
They are the best, I have no doubt
Our countrys pride, complete, devout
The finest force youll ever see
All freedom grown through liberty
One final thought comes clear to me
For what must live in infamy
Absolutely Well Remember
The Eleventh Of September

Good luck Gloria!

Reiki has been a huge help for me with the fourleggers and they go through life. Well, okay, modified from a long distance friend who talked me through it when we had the cat zapped for her thyroid, then later as she got ready to cross the Bridge. I think it helped me more. Now I'm using it with Mooch. There were times I thought of you Toni and getting with you for some extra learning but you were always gone or I was going to be gone. So maybe when you get back and in between trips for me. I am so looking forward to seeing the colors of New England again.

Those of you who have been to or wanted to go to Donelson's farmers market, tomorrow only it will be tomorrow and will be behind a building by the Cracker Barrel by Music Valley Drive. 8 to noon. I will have to be there at 8, have response team training.

Hello everyone. The 4th works for me, but if we need to move it to the 11th, I'm cool with that too. I will have an hour, so might have to run back at the end.

Hope your runs go well Gloria! My husband wants to do the St. Jude 5K at the end of Sept. Have you ever done that? This Saturday I'm going to do some running with the inserts but just do some intervals and see how I do. It's now the right knee instead of the left. Go figure.

Hope everyone has safe travels and happy early birthday Toni! Do you still do reiki? I was thinking of coming to see you!

Toni, the travelin' lady!!! Early Happy Birthday. May you always stay and look young at heart.

Oct 4 or any date pretty much works for me too until mid Oct, going up to see the fall colors in Boston. I know, hard to think that it was back in '14 when we all took over Opryland and one of us started at the wrong end. If you can't make it or have to cut it short Gloria, we'll just have to do a do over on the week end.

Where abouts is your Smoky Mtn event Gloria? We'll all be at your side, brave woman two in one week end. I can remember it wasn't long ago when a 5k was nothing more than a tune up, except for being in the cold. I can blame old age but it is more like lazy and knee worries.

Nothing exciting going on around here, should get groceries. Have good one!

Another trip Toni, woo hoo, you are a busy lady! 65, no way, really?

I am up for October 4th though sometimes it is difficult for me to get out of here during the first five business days of each month...but let's give it a shot if it works for Kelly and Gwenn! Yay! It's been a very long time since I've seen Kelly, even longer since I've seen you Toni (at our Opryland walk however long ago that was) and Gwenn and I have never met!

Well, it's still hot hot hot but at least the humidity is a teensy weensy bit better, right?

Not much going on here this week, just work work work and then Friday I am headed to the Smoky Mountains for a 5k and half marathon.

WTG Gwenn! Wow! You totally rock and inspire me and what Gloria and Kelly said! What a hubby you have!

Tzaziki's is fine with me I love their salads! Tuesday or Thursday is good. I am leaving on the 21st for Boise to see my son & DIL and have my 65th birthday! Where did that flower child go? LOL. I get back on the 28th. Anyone got a conflict on Tuesday, October 4th? The time is up to Gloria & Gwenn - whatever works best for you working gals!

Thanks! I can't believe I actually did it!

I would eat there-I've gone there a few times in Franklin. That would be great! I'm only at work on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I am at the Nashville library on Fridays except I wouldn't be able to go anywhere until after 1 on that day.

Back to work tomorrow! Hope everyone has a good week.

Do you ladies like Taziki's? That is close to Gwenn and I....it's Greek. I always get the stuffed grape leaves. Gwenn, I know you are more into whole and fresh foods, check out their menu online and see if it is something you would be able to have.

Well girls, I did my first 5K. And several minutes before the gun went off I decided to run it and if I had issues, just walk. And I did except for about 5 min of walking and my time was 36:01!! I was number 36 out of 92 females my age. :) And here is my husband's rendition of the story that he posted on FB.

My wife during first 3 months of training: beast mode

My wife during last month of training: beast mode but with a little bit of a knee ailment; decides not to run in 5k.

My wife during the days leading up to the 5k: "You know, I think I'm gonna walk it."

My wife as we take our place at the race starting line, 10 minutes before gun: "Hmm...what if I ran a bit with you and walked the rest?"

My wife, 2 minutes before gun: "I think I'm gonna run this."

Me, 2 minutes before gun: "Are you sure? You have had a bum knee, and I've been training hard for this. Do what feels right but don't push yourself too hard."

Me, ~36 minutes later: watches wife glide across finish line

"Whoa wait, that's crazy fast. I thought you were walking! What just happened!?"

Wife: BEAST. MODE.

Amazing what something so simple as an insert can do for ya!

I was going to head over to the Franklin but lost track of time, since I have no clue on getting around that area I wouldn't enjoy it once I found where I wanted to be. I am sure you did fine Gwenn, always keep in mind the saying you went further than the one on the couch (or on the computer)

Gloria you amaze me how many race days you string together.

I am always in for chow with friends! Let's try for sometime soon. That's great you two work so close together. From the sound of it Gwenn, that mess probably needs more than part time to clean up. It's funny I thought of us the other night coming down Charlotte Pike and passing HattieB's. I came so close to stopping but was in the wrong lane and didn't feel like going around the block.

Nothing exciting going on in this part of town, everyone have a great day.

My friends that went last year said they dressed in layers. Neither of them are runners, so they walked the 5k. By the time they were done with that and started the yoga, they were peeling off their layers. They were comfy all day. The photos from last year show everyone down to regular yoga wear. It's November 5th this year.

So far I love my Vivofit3! I got a silicone wristband for it, so it is much lighter and so much more flexible. The original wrist band was a little uncomfortable. I love the display - press the button and I can see how I am doing. And it beeps at me if I haven't been active for a while.

I spent the last week figuring out how to use Viv and getting re-familiarized with this website. I tracked everyday but one, fairly accurately I think. It is always so helpful to be able to see the aggregate of what I am eating. It's really the only way I can lose weight.

Gwenn and Gloria, since you guys are so close, we should figure out a day and meet up for lunch, right Kelly?

Everyone have fun!

I meant to say that I originally wanted to do the Wanderlust, but then wasn't sure about the run part. Also, like Gloria brought up, I'm not sure how doing yoga in the cold would be enjoyable.

That is so awesome Gloria! My office is in front of the Vandy stadium! That is the funniest thing!

Awww, you should do what is best for you though. Yeah, I'm going to try it slow with the inserts and see what happens.

Gwenn!!!!!! You work near Centennial? Where? I am on West End, near Vandy and I walk at Centennial on my lunch very often, also I walk all around Vandy (I mean AROUND it, down 21st to a street somewhere past and then cut over to Natchez Trace and come up by the stadium. I would LOVE it if we could walk together some time!

You make me want to come out to Franklin on Monday, lol.

Try the inserts and see if you do better with those - maybe not on Monday but maybe for a 10 or 15 minute run sometime. I have a lot of issues with the way my body is made, I've been told running and certain exercises will always be harder for me and I have had all kinds of issues but I won't let it stop me! I really think that it might help you to do intervals for a while and build up to more running....just take your time and don't rush things....like 3 minute run (or something like that) and one or two minute walk....I don't know, I am certainly no expert but working with physical therapist and stuff has really helped me figure out a lot of things as far as my own bod.

I'm glad Mooch is hanging in there and seems to still be enjoying life. It's hard to watch our little fur kids grow older. Toby turns 14 this month.

I am going to the Franklin Classic but I only signed up Thursday night. We went to pick up our packets today and my husband bought some new shoes. Have you heard of Hoka? I tried a pair on as well and I really loved them. They may be my next pair of shoes. I bought some very supportive inserts for my shoes. So apparently the Brooks shoes I picked up a month or so back are a supportive shoe, which is what I need, even though I felt like it was a little harder to run in them. It's weird that the first time I went to Fleet Feet, which was 3 years ago, they suggested the Saucony shoes, which I love, but they are a neutral shoe. They had to explain what that was to us! The Saucony did help with my shin splints but I'm wondering if I put these inserts in these, if they would help my knees with running. They put them into my Brooks shoes at the moment. I'm not going to run on Monday - just walking. Part of me wants to run with my husband until I can't anymore, but part of me just wants to do the safe thing and walk. I stopped training with him a few weeks ago and I did run two weekends ago and made it to about 20 minutes and I had to stop. I'm not even sure it's a speed issue - just the way my body is made. It sounds like he wants to continue running, so I might try it again with the inserts and see how I do.

I still have my old Fitbit and I usually put it in my pocket or clip it when I don't have pockets. Sorry about the weight gain! Blah! I've gained some weight and I'm not thrilled about it, so have to do more work. The other thing is I'm weight lifting, which is why I'm not killing myself over the gain.

The job is good. I've basically been working on auditing their contracts and agreements so I'm stuck in the file room all day. I only go in Tuesdays and Thursdays right now. I can get quite a bit done, but the files are a real mess and they have like 3 different ways of alphabetizing so I have to stop and move files all over the place. I don't mind working back there by myself, but I kind of feel like I'm just a temp or something because I am never at my desk. I think in time I'll feel like this is really my job but right now it doesn't feel that way. And no one has their names on the desks or outside their doors, so I can't remember half the people's names! Ha! Good thing it's a small company! I have been bringing my lunch, which helps me with my specialized diet, but I'm waiting for cooler weather so I can go across the street to Centennial. That will be nice.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Gwenn

Ha! Somehow posted without intending to, wasn't finished! I had totally planned to do Wanderlust this year, it is right up my alley for sure but then I found out it is the same weekend as a 10 mile race I always do and probably won't skip....I don't know, we'll see. Isn't it in November? That seems like it might be too cold to outside doing yoga.

Glad Mooch is faring well Kelly. I know the best thing you can do is keep her comfy and watch her to make sure she is eating and acting happy. I've been feeling totally paranoid about Earl. Husband thinks he is doing okay but I am not so sure. But he purrs and seems happy.

Gwenn, are you going to the Franklin Classic? I still haven't registered, guess I can register that day but I am inclined to pass this time as much as I hate to...with a 5k Friday night and a half marathon Saturday, it just doesn't seem like a good idea. I am doing the Smokey Mountain thing this weekend, the 5k and half together are called the Black Bear Challenge and there is a special medal for those. It was supposed to be a fun girls' weekend but that sort of fell apart and I am not sure who is going and if we will be doing anything fun or not.

So you got a VivoFit Toni? YAY! I still have my old FitBit (that I wear on my bra) it barely keeps a charge and I am sure it will conk out sooner or later but in the meantime, I have my Garmin, which I absolutely love - it is a watch and has the built in heart rate monitor (and like you said, WATERPROOF).

Camille, you are an inspiration with you diet, you are awesome and you have had some impressive success with that. I would have a hard time not being able to eat some things but like Gwenn, said, obviously you have some motivation and incentive.

So I lost five pounds in a matter of days when I was on vacation. Back to work on Monday and by yesterday I was four pounds up. emoticon Yep, work makes me fat, haha!

Gwenn, how's your job going?

Hey y'all, I am outside on the patio enjoying the lower humidity (with my chai latte of course), though it does seem warmer to me than what I expected. I'm listening to some music (currently listening to Five O'Clock World by the Vogues, you ladies remember that one? It is from 1965!

I think I'll pass on wanderlust again Toni but I know gals who have done it and like you said, had a blast.

Nothing exciting planned for the week end, how about you all?

Thanks for asking about Pup...update, took Mooch over for a followup yesterday. Good news is she is doing well with the meds, they thought they would have to take some fluid off of her before putting her on another lasix type and they did not need to. Yeah! However, the Echo showed she has CHF on both sides, more severe on left, etc etc etc. She has really good days, then off days, right now she is in the middle of the road with wigglebutt and smiles then goes to lethargy. Just going to keep her comfy and keep the buildup to a minimum, her prognosis is 6-12 months given her age (she's at least 13 that we can tell).

Good grief, Camille! What a journey you've been on - congrats on the diet and weight loss and the show! Way to go!

Kelly, how's kitty?

Are any of you going to participate in Nashville Wanderlust? It looks like fun. Two of my fellow yogini's went last year and had a blast! wanderlust.com/108-events/nashville/

Welcome back, Toni and Camille!

Sorry to hear about your health struggles, Camille, but I'm glad the diet is working out for you. It is difficult to stay on a strict diet but when you have reasons it pushes you a little more. How exciting that you will have an art show at the Parthenon!

Kelly, how is your fur baby?

Gloria, glad your leg and hip are doing better.

Hope you guys have a great Labor Day weekend!

Okay, I know I've been away so long that most of ya'll don't even know I exist... but I'm here, still alive and kickin! I'm super busy creating new paintings for a museum tour that will launch at the Parthenon Museum the first week of September 2017... so pencil your calendars! I'd love to see everyone!

My weight went up to an all-time high the past few years and my lymphatic system completely shut down and my legs and feet swelled so much I looked like I was a balloon animal with my toes as mini balloons!

My general practitioner doc wanted me to have gastric bypass surgery but my Lymphedema specialist diagnosed me with "Lipedema" in my legs and said surgery would not help me. She suggested a specialized diet, very limited food plan and it has saved my life. I've lost 72.8 lbs and over 66 inches since March 9, 2016 and my legs are no longer swollen. **Lipedema is a syndrome where the fat cells multiply, mostly in your limbs. If you're curious, Google pics and you'll get the idea. It is near impossible for me to find pants that will fit over my large legs.

I will live with the lipedema for the rest of my life, my legs will always be huge, unless I opt for the specialized surgery which is basically liposuction but specialized for lipedema.

My specialized diet has removed all the high-glycemic & starchy veggies (I can't even eat green beans, carrots or bell peppers) and all the fatty meats (no tuna or salmon for me!) Only small portions of meat and veggies each day, no grains, no dairy, no fats. And two fruits (only apples, oranges, strawberries or grapefruits allowed.)

It is working! I must remain completely disciplined and it is very difficult to eat out, but it is working. I've managed to find a few restaurants who will accommodate my difficult food choices.

I'll try to figure out how to connect with ya'll from my iPhone so I can stay in touch better. I'm rarely on my computer except for crazy working.

Wellllllllll, Hiddie Ho Toni!!!!

Welcome back...missed ya!

Gloria, I heard myself say bingo when you thought being away from the work stressers was part of the puzzle.

My basic fitbit walked away from me months ago and I don't like the wrist thingy's; keep saying I'm going to just grab a cheap one that won't hurt so much if it goes byebye because there are times I realize the slug needs a push. Especially since the ole knee is complaining more.

Have a great day, stay hydrated and move it!
