Wow Gloria, happy to hear that although very tired, your Dad is okay. Weather accidents are hard enough but winter adds to the chaos. Those first responders really earned their stripes.

Not much going on this end of town, everyone have a great week end.

I was so distracted yesterday over that big accident that I didn't get as much work done as I needed to. I was watching live video on it for a long time. My mom said my dad (fire chief) was out there for 10.5 hours. It was apparently caused by black ice and white out conditions from the snow bands. My sister had left earlier for Lansing to shop and she said getting home was pretty rough but we were just grateful she had passed it before it happened and wasn't caught in it on her way out. Some of the cars were really smushed up. I was also glad my mom didn't venture out yesterday, though she rarely goes anywhere in the winter and when she does she stays on the roads instead of the expressway. And my dad, he didn't have any appointments out of town, thankfully.

I didn't get to see much sun yesterday because of work and when I left it was already dusky but today should be very nice, albeit cold! I can handle the cold when the sun is pretty so I will try to take a walk at lunch time.

My niece loves to shop and she likes Target and Kohl's a lot so I will get her one of those. She is 17 so there are other more age appropriate places but my sister and her husband are ultra conservative and the kids are only allowed to shop at certain places. I'll get the boys Amazon cards because they both like to get stuff there. Those socks are exactly what I will be looking for, I am sure I can find them at most places!

I am feeling the pain of too much to do this month, got to get a lot of required professional education in, as well as the shopping and stuff. We've got to go out past the Loveless to the cemetery out there too. Busy busy busy.

Look quick Gloria, sunshine and it doesn't feel quite so raw right now.

You know what was a hit a couple of years ago, those sox with the "slip proof" nubbies on the bottom. When Deals was around, got some great soft ones and dirt cheap too.

I always worry when giving a store or restaurant specific card, what they love one day not so much the next. Then the ones tied to the credit cards are so stinking expensive.

Don't envy you Gwenn, it's crazy out there, even with house rentals. Sorry I don't have a clue how to help.

Yeah, that's what we are are trying to do. We can't get this one place to call us back, so my husband is going to call again. If they don't answer, I think we will call the person who listed one of the houses on Craig's list. Or another realtor. I know they don't care about renters because they want to sell a house but oh well.

I glanced out the window and saw the ray of sunshine, but only for a second....you know, that busy time of work, wish I had looked more because next time I looked out it was gloomy and dark again. I am waiting for some sun! Forecast I saw this morning said probably not today. After all of my whining about the summer heat and humidity I said I wouldn't carry on about the winter weather but I am reminded that I really don't like cold damp gloom! Haha!

Ha! I laughed out load at your comment about the ungrateful wenches! Too funny and my mom said don't get them anything much, they have too much and are unappreciative! Usually I get them gloves or a scarf or something of that nature to go with the gift card. Suddenly decided I will do socks this year. Still don't know what to get for my Dad. He will be very grateful for whatever we get him.

Gwenn, not sure about this but if you are looking at rentals that are not in complexes, you might need a realtor. I think that the market is so tight here that it's all about who you know and who finds out about it first...so if so and so knows that this place is going to be available in two months, they rent it pretty much the same day it is listed if not before. Good luck! I know it will work out.

So sorry to hear about the arthritis, Gloria. Hopefully, with the bruise healing, you won't have as much pain. Not sure what would be the best course of treatments.

I have been a little on the lazy side with gifts for my brother and his family and my parents. I used to buy them things off their list and then last year I decided to do what Oprah used to do and give them my/our favorite things. It worked out but this year while I did put some things that we like, I did throw some other things in there, one being giftcards to food places.

Yeah, hate moving but it has to be done. There are TONS of places out there and while I wish we could buy a house, I know we aren't going to be here permanently, so no point. There are cute places out there. If we could only get someone to respond to our requests so we can see these places.

Wow what a change in the sunshine in just a short time. Not sure how long it'll last but sure is bright out!

I usually grab a little something to go with the gift card. Oh Lawd, heaven help if you get the wrong gift card...ungrateful wenches haha. Don't envy you Gloria.

Not much on this end of town, so enjoy the sunshine while it's there...guess winter is trying to move back in with us.

Wet, cold and gloomy. I was so tempted to stop at Starbucks this morning because a hot drink sounded good but I resisted the temptation. Traffic wasn't too bad, people were driving a little slower I think. I've got to get going on Christmas gift buying. Tonight I will probably stop at Kroger for gift cards for my niece and nephews. I prefer not to give gift cards since they are not personal at all but that is what my sister and mother tell me I must get for them. Gotta find something for my dad too. I don't even try with the in-laws. That is just hopeless, lol

Now that's the way to watch a Pred's game Gwen!!! I know, bummer on the loss.

I do not envy you on what to do with the lease. Rents are just crazy out of control right now.

I say you had a busy week end Gloria! I don't think there is anytime Hatties doesn't have a line. Except when they are closing.

Sorry to hear it is arthritis, at least now you have an answer. Tough decision...I'd be tempted to try the Chiro and PT, then on the other hand you are familiar with Sports Meds, I've seen what they do that even Ortho's don't.

Quiet week end here, boring rest of the week. Stay warm and dry.

Yep, winter is a comin'!! I think we will be feeling it by Thursday. Gwenn, good luck figuring out the living situation. The housing market is so tough right now. I know you will figure out a good solution, either long term or short term.

Had a good Saturday, went to a class on core stability/strength out at Cool Springs, then met husband and a friend and went to the Samurai exhibit at the Frist. Oh, and lunch at Chuy's! We were going to try for Hattie B's, but at 11:00 they were already lined up down the street.

Okay, so I had the MRI and I have a bruise on a bone in my foot, and arthritis. The bruise needs to heel and it is, mostly I don't notice that anymore. Not sure what can be done about the arthritis, it is what it is, you know? The appointment for my hip is next week. The doctor examined it again on Friday and wants to refer me to a chiro who I have been to before so I need to decide if I want to go to the chiro or go to the sports med doc who will probably just send me to PT. If they are just going to send me to PT, I might as well go to the chiro. Chiro is close to home, PT is close to work and they have done really good for me as well, so, either way, it will work.

Any news about your MRI? Hope they can figure it out for you.

Cold is coming this week! And lots of rain. We went to the Preds game yesterday, courtesy of my job, which was really nice. It was all inclusive with a buffet and drinks. They lost in the last 18 seconds of OT, which was a bummer.

Time to figure out our living situation as our renewal letter came in the mail. So have to find out what the other amounts are per month if we lease for less than a year and we are looking at other rental properties around the city to see if we stay in Franklin or move.

Enjoy your Sunday and have a good week!

Here's to a solution to the foot puzzle Gloria!!! Sad face on working this week end.

It is wonderful what these businesses are trying to do. Then they worry about trying to provide for the first responders and the Guard.

I'm sure you were a beautiful bride, both times! Sometimes you wonder what these makeup people are thinking though.

Warming up nicely, everyone have a great week end!

I liked the renewal ceremony better actually. We did it at the same place but it was toned down a lot, lavender dress instead of the big poofy white one, and I liked my hair better on the second one. I did my own makeup for the second one too and I liked that better.

Did you see that the owner of Westgate Resorts is going to keep the employees at least through the end of this month - and then he will try to retain as many as he can or at least help them find work at either other of his resorts or other places.

I have an MRI today on my foot, which is the least of my concerns at this point - it seems not completely better but much better and I think it was probably just a sprain. We aren't really allowed to be off during the first five business days but I will be able to go since I can work the weekend.

That's cute, renewing after only the first year!!!

It is heartbreaking, man Dolly is really opening her wallet (well, her foundation) for the next 6 months, looks like it is not just for her employees. Wonderful gesture to the locals who spend with her.

Well Gloria, I do not envy you and the beginning of any month. Deep breaths!

Whoa really cold out, but the sun is shining so it should make for a nice day. See ya later...

Ha! We got married TWICE in Gatlinburg, how funny is that? We got married one year and renewed our vows there the next year. I am just horrified by what we are seeing come out of there...the deaths, the missing people, the destruction.

Busy week at work starts today. I am already behind since I was on vacation, so I will be utilizing the weekend to catch up.

Didn't know that is where you got married Gloria. I agree, there is something special about that area.

My sister eloped there back in 07, adding to her sadness not knowing if where they got married is still standing but today is the third anniversary of her husband's passing.

A fellow CERT member and volunteer firefighter is among the group heading out tomorrow, I think he was part of the crew that went to Chattanooga.

I did get a short walk yesterday. It was cool and sunny, very nice for late November.

I am just heartboken about Gatlinburg, hopefuly when the rain gets there today it will help and hoping the wind stays light and there isn't a lot of lightning. We were married there and of course it holds a special place in our hearts...don't know anyone around here who doesn't have a fondness for it. We love to hike the Smokys.

Unfortunately, the storms here were not as strong there, actually as hard as it rained here it was not what was expected so we are still at risk ourselves. So sad.

Everything is so bright and shiny this morning, wow. Hopefully more wet stuff is on its way.

Your pounds I think may have found its way over here. Got to blame someone haha. On a carb binge again yesterday, didn't matter what healthy stuff I ate found myself scrounging for carbs. Think its out of my system today, hope so.

Hope you get out for a walk by the way.

I knew that there were fires in the Smoky Mountains but was shocked to wake up to the news from Gatlinburg fires this morning. Keeping fingers crossed that the rain helps. Should get more rain tonight.

So back to work, today I am exactly three pounds less than I was just a week ago, even after no exercise, lots of dining out, huge meals and desserts. Let's see if the weight comes back overnight.

Supposed to be pretty warm out today...maybe I will be able to get out for a walk.

Oh Gloria I am laughing at your piles of stuff...you are not alone!!! A trick I learned way back when the earth was young, hide it!

Gosh that wind with the rain was something else, your poor hubby stuck in it. Sometimes chillin' in the house is a good thing, nothing strange about it.

Husband is out, just hear from him that traffic is bad, no surprise with the rain and wind! Hip is feeling better but after what happened during the 5k, I am not taking any chances. I will try to see a doc and will skip a race I wanted to do on Saturday. Was off today and got some things done around the house, including the tree and Christmas decor. I could use at least two or three weeks off from work to get things caught up around here. On the surface it looks fine but there are piles of junk in a few places that I need to tend to, and my crafting stuff needs to be organized. I skipped my stamping group tonight, didn't want to drive all the way to Brentwood on my day off, and glad that I did with the weather the way it is. Didn't go out of the house at all today, such a strange thing.

Despite the "weather" yes it was good there was no snow. I think with our extended Indian summer any temp drop throws us off. I know I felt it Saturday night at an outdoor party.

I am sure having you home helped your folks, not just by helping with necessities. How's the hip? Do you think sitting in a car annoyed it?

Batten down the hatches, hopefully rain won't go around us this time but I could do without the potential of high winds with the ground being so dry. The trees will uproot themselves easier.

I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was ok and actually glad it is over.
That is interesting that you lose weight while away from work. I feel like I've gained, but I have felt like that for weeks now. Hope this week back at work isn't stressful.

Hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving. It was good for us, but geez, that weather up there is also so cold and gloomy. Husband kept reminding me that at least it wasn't snowing or super cold but it is still too cold for me and always damp. I spent the majority of the time at my parent's house, she says my dad is doing better but she isn't getting around much at all. Did a few things for them, like light bulbs, batteries and computer stuff. I did the pies but my mom and dad managed to do most of the rest of the cooking. Saw sister and her family. As usual, when I am on vacation I lose weight and will probably gain it back when I go back to work. And that is with pretty much NO exercise (one short walk and then I did a 5k Friday but had to walk it because my hip is sore). Also - lots of eating out, huge meals and dessert, and still lost. Go figure. I am still five pounds over where I need to be.

Spending today grocery shopping, doing laundry, the standard routine, haha!

Gwenn I have the same gremlin that showed up this week too. Pest does it every so often.

Lots of celebrating going on with you two, enjoy and hope the weather is half way decent for you Gloria.

My Niece's cheerleading squad will be featured in the Macys parade about 10:40A EST today, from Bartram Trail in FL. Once in a lifetime experience! Quiet day for me, will invade a few house parties. Family that was supposed to have dinner here decided to stay in FL a few extra days...really. Stay in FL? Don't blame them.

Happy Thanksgiving, just in case there is way too much to sample, wear stretch pants.

Hey girls. I don't know why I wasn't getting alerts for messages on here. Oh well.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Kelly. That is never easy. I had to take a kitty in to the ER vet on Christmas Eve several years ago and she was gone in about 30 minutes from congestive heart failure. Had no idea she even had an issue.

I heard about the yoga event - I think it was on Saturday. I hope they can find out what is going on with your foot, Gloria. That is so frustrating! I understand about just getting it done so you don't have a huge amount to pay.

Went to the party on Saturday and came home Sunday. It was ok....at least the kids liked their presents. My parents will be here tomorrow early afternoon and will leave Saturday. Spent all day yesterday cleaning!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Gwenn

Holy Schmoly!!! It is cold out there...

Hope you all had a great week end, quiet as usual around here. Meetings today and nothing much else the rest of the week.

Let me be the first to welcome you to Thanksgiving Week.

I'm laughing because I can imagine getting Earl into a carrier! Seems like their limbs grow another foot. Here's to the shot helping quickly.

Might as well take advantage and get that MRI now, besides that is a long time to suffer with foot pain. Good luck.

I'll look to see if my friend who has a yoga, etc studio if she puts something about it and let you know. I'm surprised Toni hasn't swung by to let us know, sure she would be involved with it.

It's so wooded at PW it would be cold even in warmer weather. Pretty place though.

Well it is Friday, have a great week end all. Don't forget to take some time for yourselves.

Had the ultrasound on my foot, not a cyst, not a fibrosis, not plantar fascitis. Definitely something there but unknown what. So since I have met my deductible this year, they will send me for an MRI - better to do it now and get a definitive answer than wait until the new year rolls around and have to pay more.

Supposed to be 81 today, might not even make it to 50 on Sunday. I will be volunteering at a water stop for the flying monkey marathon in Percy Warner early Sunday when it is supposed to be soooo cold.

Earl went to the vet yesterday. He's got allergies or something. He got a shot and came home. Glad I was home to shove him in the carrier as he wasn't having anything to do with it when my husband tried. They will check his kidney stuff again in January. He has lost more weight, which isn't a surprise since he has these spurts of time where he won't eat.

Saw something somewhere about some sort of yoga festival I think on Sunday?

Thanks Gloria. And I keep your kitty in my heart too. She crashed so quickly as they told me she could but still you don't think it would happen that way

Working from home, yay!!! Doctor, boo - well, you need your feet to get around so not a big boo. Nice and cool in the AM and PM, almost too warm daytime but I'm sure that'll change. Yesterday was a reminder from the US Weather Service that two years ago we were waiting the arrival of sleet.

Sadly to make anything stable it requires help. What I don't understand is why all the soy, etc milk products have yunk added to it, even refrigerated ones. Other than hauling your own mini thermos to keep it cold, I have nothing to offer. Is it all teas that disagree with you or just tea leaves?

I know, here it is Thursday already and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, crazy fast year this has been. Have a good one, grab some vitaD while you can. Reminds me, guess my D levels have tanked, I need to pick up a power pac from the pharmacy.

Going to be toasty warm today and tomorrow. I'm working from home, what a relief not to deal with traffic and commute time. Foot appointment this afternoon. Can't believe that Thanksgiving is next week. It feels like August to me.

Kelly, soooo sorry to hear about your dog. That just hurts my heart to think about. And to have to deal with colonoscopy junk on top of that. I'll be southern and say BLESS YOUR HEART. I feel for you.

I usually get those Mini Moos by Land O Lakes for my coffee at work, they are shelf stable but I looked at the label and they are not free of additives/junk either. Can't win. Just need to stay away from coffee as directed. Hot tea upsets my stomach for some odd reason.

I feel like I am struggling with things right now. I know changes need to be made in my schedule, my commute, something, but I just don't know what or how to change anything.

We were talking last night about the horrendous fires and smoke and how you can go one way and it is acrid, not so much another way. We decided it is the wind stream carrying it that is doing it. Oh well, we aren't meteorologists and didn't play one on tv. The pictures coming from Signal Mtn and Lookout Mtn are frightening.

They make shelf stable half n half in the little cups.

Oops, hit post when the phone rang. The ringer is so danged loud (even on lowest) must've had the curser over post.

Well, it was a very sad afternoon yesterday. Had to make the decision to send Pup up for beers with Daddy. She never came out of her sudden funk from Sunday night and her belly was getting bigger. A pal from the furlegger rescue group helped get her into the car to head to the Vet. Vet suggested we see if the specialist (Cardiologist that saw her months ago) could see her that afternoon but first lets drain some of the edema off her belly; it could make her feel better. A few minutes later she comes back in and her expression was not good - it was all blood! Of course her heart would not withstand exploratory or surgery. Her organs were enlarged as well. I sent the young lady that helped me on her way before the appt, no sense keeping her there...Ms Stubborn sat in the parking lot and waited for me to come out. How sweet was that? It is so danged quiet here.

I'm having a fun day today, prep for a colonoscopy manana. Why is it, when you can't eat the tummy says otherwise. I'm off to the store to pick up gelatin for my "jello jigglers", that'll occupy my time for a few minutes. At least Doc didn't make it a yearly event, and she wouldn't accept all the CT scans so shouldn't lament to much.

Have a good one, glad the zinc helped you Gloria. Take care Gwenn. Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving coming up. Of course, if your family lives in the area of the fires, I wish them all the best of safety!

In the summer I keep the AC on at about 78, maybe 76, and in the winter I keep the heat on at 72, which seems cold to me and then as the winter goes on, I tend to turn it up a little because I get tired of freezing to death. Our thing is programmable so I keep it much cooler at night while we are sleeping and of course it goes down while we are at work, but husband will be working at home for the next several weeks so I wouldn't want it to go down too much, although he tends not to notice the temperature unless it is very hot or very cold.

I am just a bit stuffy and I am hoping that the zinc helped head off the worst. I noticed that a few people at work seem to be this way too, maybe something going around here, maybe got it from my friend, who knows.

Keep meaning to tell you all about this...I wanted some sort of creamer for my coffee at work...I hardly ever drink coffee, not supposed to have it due to stomach issues, but every now and then I have some. At work they have that nasty powdered stuff, though I can go to the cafeteria and get half and half. But anyway, I wanted some for my desk and I saw this stuff and got it...read the label, but not carefully. Saw that it had a lot of bad stuff in it but thought it was going to be rarely used so I would get it. Used it once and read the label more carefully and it says PRODUCED WITH GENETIC ENGINEERING. emoticon

So since the ingredients are of question and with that on there, I am like, ummmm, no, we will pass on that. I guess I will be hiking myself to the cafeteria for half and half if I need it, problem is that they are not open all day so I can only get it in the morning. My husband was a genetics major for four years before he changed his major to IT and he thinks genetically modified is okay. Not me. I am really more into whole foods though I find it difficult to be that way 100%.

Okay, today is my RESET day. My clothes are not fitting well at all, including my workout clothes. My husband makes it difficult, he wants to eat at places like Zaxby's and Culver's but I need to get back on track so I am going to have to make that happen.

I definitely noticed the smoke in the air yesterday. My brother is around Dalton and he said the air is very bad there. We will be there on Saturday so that should be interesting.

I keep my heat on 68 also but then 65 during the day when I'm not here. Today I am chilly for some reason, though. Probably because we aren't used to having cool days.

I hope you aren't really getting sick, Gloria! Make sure to take some zinc if you can. We got our flu shots yesterday. Not really in time for Saturday being around people with cooties but it is what it is!

Much as we don't like to furnace up, I find it is best to warm up the insides before they too get cold and it takes longer to heat the house. Keep mine at 68, seems like only the other night it ran often, rarely does during the day...for now at least.

Wow, you must've been whooped to sleep 10 hours! Your bod must have been celebrating big time. I think in part it is the wild fires affecting us all but take care. I can't find the recipe for it but a gargle that works for me is some peroxide, salt and a little iodine mixed in warm water. Space out your gargles to finish the glass (8oz for mine). It has helped me.

Sorry you are still going through long work hours, add to it dark time comes so danged early. Bummer.

Have a good week everybody!

Smoke and fog this morning too. Wow, the air is just acrid. I can't imagine how bad it must be in East Tennessee with those wildfires going on. I slept 10 hours last night (unheard of for me) and have a sore throat, runny nose and headache. I could use a nap right now and instead I am looking at probably 10 - 12 hour days at work this week. My weight is up and I wanted today to be a reset day but I slept through my workout this morning. I needed the rest.

I finally turned the furnace on. It was 65 in here this morning....wish I didn't have to but I didn't want to wait until next weekend when it is going to be in the 40s for the highs. Then we will really need it and what if it didn't work? So yes, I have officially entered cold weather season!

Good luck on your decision making Gwenn!

Aren't those fires in East Tennessee crazy? Wow wow wow. Saw that there was a pretty large fire here the other day. It's just too dry.

My friends left, now I am scampering around trying to get the house cleaned, laundry done, and get to the grocery store. I just don't have time to do that stuff during the week and next weekend is jam packed with stuff already - and then it is Thanksgiving week and I will be at my parents so I need to stay caught up with stuff. Just way too much going on this time of year! We went to Olive & Sinclair and that was fun, also to Marathon Motor Works and a bunch of other stuff. I took them to Leiper's Fork and we drove on the Natchez Trace. One of them was really sick and now I have a sore throat and feel very exhausted so I hope that I am not getting what she had.

That's a bonus having new windows and door Gwenn! Maybe that tower just to take the evening chill off in the dead of winter?

Whatever it is that you two are deciding on, best wishes and try not to second guess that decision...you could drive yourselves nuts doing that. Oh, seem to remember your hubby works here in D'son, don't remember where but if it is around McGavock and Elm Hill Pike, in the near future they are going to be digging up EHP so traffic will be an even bigger mess.

Enjoy your company Gloria, how great is it that they brought nice weather.

I dug out the flannel jammies last night and fluffy sox. Thank goodness for sunny days! And I'll be out looking at the moon tonight with a big ole mug of hot cocoa.

Nothing exciting on this end of town, have a wonderful Sunday!

Hi Gloria - Sorry to hear about your husband's aunt. I'm glad you had a safe trip. Interesting about your foot. I hope it is something they are able to resolve for you.

Definitely chilly! And yes, it is difficult to figure out what in the world to wear. I guess you have to dress in layers.

I have one of those tall space heaters you can move from room to room. Not sure if we'll need to use it much this year since they just replaced our sliding door and windows. For some reason, it is always warm in our bedroom and everywhere else it is cooler, so we often have our ceiling fan on for circulation. I usually turn it off once I get up.

Big decisions being made at our house and could use some good thoughts about how we will follow through on those decisions. Just taking things one day at a time!

Any plans for Thanksgiving? My parents will be here so I'm trying to figure out what to cook. I've been tempted to just purchase stuff, but I know I would rather cook. I'll see them next weekend too since we'll be at a birthday party for my niece and nephew. Kinda funny.

Gwenn

Oh yes, thank you for sharing that blog with us Kelly!

I've got one of those infrared heaters for our bedroom, keeps it very toasty. Husband FINALLY brought that down last night and I enjoyed a very peaceful and comfortable sleep. The rest of the house is 67 and my friends are happy with that - they prefer it to be very cool.

I got out and did 3.5 miles in my neighborhood early this morning. There doesn't seem to be a particular activity that bothers my foot, it doesn't swell or have pain any more or less if I run, but I won't do any long distances until after I have the ultrasound and get the official diagnosis.

Yesterday my friends and I visited some used book stores and some antique stores. Today we will go to Antique Anthropology. I am not a huge fan of antiques but one of my friends loves that. We are also going to Olive & Sinclair today to do the tour. Mmmmm chocolate. I want to eat at Humdinger's but they might outvote me on that.

At least you had good weather Gloria and smart girl taking your coat. We ordered up some nice weather for your friends, enjoy!!!

I cranked it to 70 for a short time tonight, now back to 68. Getting one of those heated exhaust thingy's for the bathroom has been on my list for years.

Not much on this side, nighty night!

It's about 68 in our house too, which is way too cold for me but I am resisting the temptation of turning on the heat - I did turn the thing on that is in the bedroom (it looks like a hotel room heater) for about 30 minutes last night to take the edge off in there. I am trying to work from home today and I am wearing a turtleneck, a sweater and a blanket.

We went to Indiana on Wednesday, I did take a coat and I was glad. My friends from Michigan were already here when we got back

I know, I'm sitting here in my pj's and a sweatshirt the house isn't quite at 68 but it feels cold in here. I know, warm coat or extra layers in the am??? I'd take the coat for sure, if you don't you will wish you had. Safe travels, sorry it isn't for a happier occasion.

Wow on the foot, at least you are closer to an answer and here's to getting an MRI quickly.

Nothing much else around here. Have a good one, grab some vitaD while you can.

Hey gang, I think winter has arrived...saw something about temperatures in the 30s tonight and this weekend. I guess I need to break out the coat for the funeral tomorrow. It's definitely been chilly in the office. I've had the sweaters and turtlenecks out...it's hard to dress when it is so cold in the morning and then nice in the afternoon.

I voted early and from what I have been hearing, it might have been better to have waited until today, hear that lines today aren't too bad. I need to remember what you said about getting there at 6:30 with my chai Kelly, that would work for me. Last presidential election hubby got over there at close to 7:00 a.m. and the line was so bad (and he was supposed to be at work in Cool Springs at 7:00) and it wasn't moving at all and he ended up leaving without voting. He early voted this time too.

Okay, so the doctor said I probably have a cyst on my foot but from what I gather, it's likely plantar fibromatosis. I've got to get an ultrasound or an MRI on it. If it's a cyst it can be drained or removed (depending on the kind of cyst, ganglion cysts are rare on the bottom of the foot). I don't know when I will get the ultrasound, I am waiting for Vandy to call me but my schedule is so loaded, that is going to be interesting.

We've got one of those heat vents/fans in the master bathroom so I have actually been using it in the mornings, but I am likely to turn it on in the summer too, haha!

The other day I cranked ours on so I could take a shower. Really enjoying it though.

Good luck with Doc today, yay for working at home.

Oh gosh, thought I stopped by to offer your husband my condolences for his Aunt. It is even harder when it is unexpected.

I hear you about our history being torn down, so sad.

Voted very early this morning as is my usual routine. There about 6:30 with a cuppa joe to stand in line. To my surprise there weren't many there but wow about 10 of, they came out of the woodwork, chaos in the very small parking lot.

Hey Gwenn and Toni!

Working from home today, so very nice to avoid traffic. Wish we could do that once or twice a week. Would make life so much simpler not to do the long commute each and every day.

Foot appointment is this morning, yesterday it was just awful until around noon then I stood up and it felt fine and pretty much stayed fine until much later in the day. I think my friends from Michigan are going to still come, just a day later.

It's supposed to be cooler I think for the next few days? I am going to continue to avoid turning the heat on but I am chilly for sure. I'm sitting here at my desk bundled up in my hot chocolate hoodie and I am still a bit cold. I don't know, we've got nights in the 30s coming up and I might not be able to hold out.

I hadn't heard of Fountain of Juice. It looks like they don't even sell at the Hendersonville Produce Market....which is probably because there is already a juice store in there. That's kind of a bummer because I would try it but wouldn't want to do a subscription and I hardly ever get to any of the other farmer's markets anymore.

Foot appointment is tomorrow morning. I just don't know what is wrong with it. I haven't been running at all and this morning it is so painful, even after stretching and icing. Even though the pain is centered at a local point, it is obvious that there might be some muscle/ligament issues going on too so maybe it isn't bruised. I elevated and iced yesterday, and am icing now, so I didn't expect it to be worse today.

Traffic this morning was a delight...really good today!

Wow, that house sounds interesting, there is so much history here in Nashville and I am afraid they will tear it all down. Is that house on the list of preserved sites with the historical society? We almost bought an old house in Smyrna, those older houses have real bones but they can have issues too. Can you imagine starting out as a new parent at that age, even starting over....oh no thanks! That's what grandkids are for, though I don't think we will ever get any.

My husband's aunt died unexpectedly yesterday so we have to go to Indiana. Not sure how that is going to work with the Michigan people coming.

Too bad you gals didn't have your arms up, could have been standing on your heads.

I am kicking myself for not heading over to the Wanderlust. I hear all kinds of good stuff about it. That mylk sounds good, more different than good actually.

Is your foot appt today or tomorrow? Oh yes kibble and anything small can do your foot in and tear up your knee - weird. Gloria, take time for yourself so you can enjoy your friends - the house is fine they are there to see you and only you know what you think is not done. Then again, thinking the kid would be spending time here, I did some extra cleaning so let's have a good laugh about it.

Each year, it gets harder to like this winter DST. Oh well, quiet week end on this end. Our son is still in town; met up with one of his high school buds who lives in Hermitage. I drive their street every so often didn't know that their house is one of those that I wondered how old it is - actually all the homes on that stretch are neat and I become a lookie lu. Anyway, stopped in to see the house and finally meet his Munchkin little girl (15 mos old). The house started as a log cabin, finished in 1790something!!! Another part of the house was done in 1901 and the last addition was 1950. The exterior has been bricked but the logs etc is preserved as original. He said there are other log cabins, some in Hendersonville that have a history tied to their place. And yes, after raising three successful young ladies, he remarried and became a Dad again at the age of 44. His wife is younger.

Have a good day!

Great picture!

Hey Gloria, there was a juice tent at Wanderlust that is based in Hendersonville. It's called The Fountain of Juice. Have you heard of it? They aren't cheap, but their Chocolate Mylk is amazing!!! It is dairy free, gluten free, vegan. I looked at their website www.tfojuice.com and it looks like you they only ship to people with a subscription or go to various Farmer's Markets. Don't even know if they have a store front.

Oh, Wanderlust sounds like it was really great! I was thinking about going to yoga tomorrow but now I am not sure....I've got so much to accomplish, I need some time off. Well, I am taking time off later next week but that is because we are having company, and it will be GREAT to see my friends but I need time off to chill and do things at home!

I found this photo when I was cleaning out old E-mails....Dawn, Bonnie, Camille, Toni, me, not in that order, haha! It was in February 2014 I think. Well darn it, I can get it to go right side up - I have tried several times and whatever I do, it is still upside down!

Wanderlust was so fun! The route for the 5K was a little weird, but it was fine. We seemed to be on part of a bike trail that goes past this cement plant or something. Was just strange. I would have been fine looping back before that and going around the park a few times. It was a great experience. It was quite chilly in the morning. I had three layers on the top but about the time we were to start the 5K, it was warming up some and by yoga time, it was very warm. Glad you were able to get out to your race today and I'm glad you will have an appointment on Tuesday!

Can't wait to hear about wanderlust Gwenn, it sounded like so much fun but I really wanted to do today's race. And then didn't. But I did go because I had registered and I wanted the hoodie...so I went and volunteered at a water stop and we had fun. It was soooo cold early in the morning. I thought I was dressed warm enough but no, I wasn't! So I made an appointment to get my foot looked at and that is on Tuesday, with a running friend's podiatrist husband (at Vandy). Today I remembered something...I stepped on a piece of kibble and it was very painful. So now I am wondering if my heel is bruised, which apparently requires quite a long recovery. I find it hard to believe a piece of kibble could do that much damage so I guess I just have to wait to see what the dr. says. In the meantime I had gone to Walgreen's and paid a small fortune for inserts for Plantar Facscitis but those made it feel so much worse. I need to be getting stuff done around here but I have been extremely lazy today.

Didn't know you could see the river from your place!

Smart to get it checked out, here's to a simple solution.

Well the station got the message and lowered its price some.

Can you believe how beautiful it is today? Be nice if it stays like this all week end. Meanwhile, everyone have a good one...go do something fun!

I noticed that all of the Twice Dailly Shell stations went way way up on their prices but the non-Twice Daily Shells didn't and most of the other stations are still at or a tiny bit higher than they were. Either word hasn't gotten out about the gas line explosion or no one is going to be fooled again.

That is too funny about the women coming to hike in dresses and dress shoes.

I am going to the podiatrist on Tuesday....just not worth risking a foot injury. I will run through hip and knee issues but feet, once they are messed up it can take months to recover.

Yep, good Old Hickory Lake (or reservoir) is nothing but the Cumberland River. And it really looks like a river from my front window....it is not wide. Sounds like your sons house has a ton of potential.

By all means, rest that foot!

Hear you about pushing the rules. Where our daughter works, they don't have in person contact and the dress code abuse got so out of control (literally pj's) that they dropped the gavel, they all suffered because of those few.

So happy you had a great week end away Gwenn! I loved that area when we lived in K'ville. Funny what we remember, a group I belonged to decided to hike one of the small trails then have lunch. Women showed up in dresses, dress shoes or heels!

The shell by us went up to 2.33 yesterday, everyone else was just under or over 2. I took 109 up yesterday, gas at the I-40 was way cheap but as you got up the road it was more. Oh WOW, I will have to get a picture of their family room. Timber frame beams - real ones, wide plank wood floors. The rest of it is basic, they will reno as time goes on, right now they pulled up the way too old carpets and putting in similar wide plank wood and putting in new stair treads since they pulled up the carpeting on that too. (Actually they had the entire staircase rebuilt) They have a walk out basement, literally a guest house. Bedroom, kitchenette and sitting area. That bathroom came out of a magazine. Double decker deck with a sunset view that yesterday was spectacular. What I never realized was the Cumberland and Old Hickory Lake are one in the same there.

And just so I could feel your commuting pain Gloria, I took the Hendersonville way home. To my surprise, Rivergate area was not bad, although happy I wasn't going the other way.

Well, the Cubbies finally did it! What a wild game...

Have a great Friday Eve.

Kelly, they specifically laid out the rules for jeans, and no tattered jeans or distressed jeans are allowed! They even provided photos for examples. We will see because you know someone will come in with something that is inappropriate.

So I see that gas prices have gone up a small amount in some places but not everywhere and I also see that not everyone is panicking this time. Yet, thank goodness. I'm more worried about my husband's gas tank than mine, he has a longer commute and doesn't get the greatest gas mileage.

Kelly, how is the new house in Gallatin?

Gwenn, LOVE the Smoky Mountains. We like to hike but it has been a while since we have been there.

Not much going on here...working late this week and of course I am tired! I'm supposed to do a 10 mile race on Saturday but I have a foot issue so I might volunteer instead.

We didn't pass out anything so no candy was bought. I actually can't eat any of it after looking at ingredients. Just look up TBHQ that is in Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Food babe had a big write up about it. Scary stuff. Anyway, we went away to the Smokies last Friday and came back on Halloween. It was so beautiful and got quite a few hikes in. Stayed in this really cute cabin. Now it's back to reality. Sounds like my parents will be here for Thanksgiving. Usually they go to my brother's for it, but they'll be there first as there is a party for my niece and nephew on the 19th. We normally cook anyway. My pants are also snug but that's because we ate too much and had wine and we normally don't. Oh well! Need to get back to it too!

We didn't have a lot of kids on our street either. Oh, if you copy/paste the link it should work. Don't know why that happens, I can see it not working at work but others have had trouble with it.

Didn't over buy this time and didn't have much left but it is gone, and yes my clothes are a bit snug too...to the point where I think my new incision might burst. HaHa. Good reason to get with it too. Jeans!!! How long will it be before someone shows up in their expensive tattered jeans? I am amazed that people actually pay that much money for something that looks like they should be worn for disaster clean up and tossed.

I think as long as folks don't go guzzling like they did before we should be fine. I need to fill up today, yesterday was a mad house near us. I am going up to Gallatin to see our son's "new" place this afternoon.

Oh our neighbor across the street had the cutest visitor yesterday morning...a baby doe! She was not very old and wasn't back later so we assume Mom was near by.

Still too much candy at the office and my pants are tight this morning! Yikes! Gotta get a handle on that, don't want to split my pants open, haha! I know there was something that I've been meaning to tell you all but I have been having a mind blank for sure. Today if I remember I need to post it right away, otherwise I will forget again!

So are we in for another gas crisis? I filled on Monday because I was empty, so I don't anticipate a problem.

Hey, they just announced that we can start wearing jeans on Fridays! Woo hoo! So excited about that!

Hmmm, can't get the link to work, will have to try at home because sometimes things don't work at the office.

Big wreck on Vietnam Veterans this morning, don't know much about it. It was going toward Hendersonville, not toward Nashville so it didn't affect me and was pretty much gone by the time I came in to the office.

How was Halloween for you all? LOTS of candy at the office yesterday. After work we had dinner and I went to bed - no trick or treaters - houses in my neighborhood are so far back from the road since we have giant yards so no one comes to our neighborhood.

Now, onto the busy week of the month. I need to stay focused and get the job done!

Maybe the hot overrode the gluten? Knocked wood here to for ya! Still haven't been over there.

We all need down time, sorry stress interfered a bit...maybe some deep breathing or something to help get you over that. Hey Toni! Got any suggestions??? Toni!!!

Have a great Halloween - I'll sit at the curb and hand out what I have, then head on down the block for a party. I only hope folks follow the no lights on, don't come to the door. Hate how they non stop ring the bell or knock and think it's cute the doggie wants to break out and get them. Geez, now I have to run out and get black poster paint. The jar I had I apparently did not screw on right so it's dried up drier than the Sahara. I paint toilet paper and paper towel rolls, cut out eyes and stick glow stix in them and put them in the trees or around. Cats watching you. No I don't save them from year to year.

Peacocks! That is even more fun than a pig and prettier to look at! My electric bill was definitely a bit less this past month though still way more than I would expect for this time of year.

I pretty much spent the weekend moping around because I didn't run. Seriously, running is my stress relief and if I don't do that, I am stressed! I did get a lot of rest though.

We tried Slow Burn again - husband got the hot cod and I got chicken again. Not gluten free but so far (knock on wood) my tummy hasn't revolted. Seriously good stuff...and the people there are so very nice.

I can imagine having anything on a Saturday in Franklin is going to be really crowded.

At least it is chilly at night, agreed, these temps are just crazy. I haven't really run the AC, had to briefly turn on the heat before heading north just to take the chill off...

Apparently the farmers almanac is predicting a cold and snowy winter for us. Maybe I should become a snow bird! The only bugs I think cold might affect are germs, but I sometimes question that too. Really, mosquitoes in Michigan and Canada? Wow.

Apparently we have peacocks up the road from us! Haven't seen them though. Someone else has guinea hens.

Enjoy your day, go grab some vitaD. Gloria, hope you are giving yourself some much needed down time.

I didn't have fog yesterday morning but I noticed it got foggier later in the morning. I go in so early. We have tons of deer in Hendersonville too, and at one point there was talk about doing some sort of euthanizing here, very controversial.

Can you all believe how warm it is? 87 degrees for Halloween? I'm so glad we haven't had to turn the heat on....except the AC is still on so no difference really. Someone at work was talking about how we need to the cold to kill the bugs....I didn't her that Michigan and Canada have the worst mosquitoes and it gets mighty cold there - so I am not sure that getting cold really matters. They've already had sleet and snow in Michigan.

Yes, the traffic has been crazy this week but I know it is on a regular basis. Hope everyone has a good weekend! I know that the Pumpkinfest is in downtown Franklin on Saturday. We are going to be somewhere else but we went last year. It's fun but super crowded.

Did you have fog this morning Gloria? Not bad here but the deer deciding to cross the roads at dawn is a problem, especially since they are wearing their winter colors. Sunset yesterday was a spectacular big orange ball with clouds.

I'm thinking your bod and mind would appreciate some down time this week end, enjoy yourself.

How's everything going Gwenn?

Toni!!!

Today is the last of the farmers market, that is about all going on around here. It is official, son and his family are moving back and bought a place in Gallatin, he is going to be in town for a few days getting stuff in order, they will move mid December when school goes on Christmas break. Yay!!! They will be living on Old Hickory Lake, her brother lives not far from them on the lake and her folks live in H'ville. Think I'll put together a care package since the house is empty. I am sure mother in law already has a whopper of one set up and I'm not about to try to even compete. Ha. She is very creative and does an awesome job.

Well, have a great week end everyone

Weekend time! Yay! Just gotta get through a few more hours. I am hoping for some nice R&R this weekend. I've got a lot to do at home, and R&R to me means getting things done but also maybe getting a little extra rest.

Don't know what all is going on this weekend around town...not sure if I will do anything anyway, ha! I know there is a half marathon down in Brentwood at the YMCA but no, I'm not doing that one!

Yeah, wasn't that wreck just horrible? I don't know how long the interstate ended up being closed, maybe 14 hours? I thought traffic getting home would be a nightmare but it was actually very good.

I had continuing education today in Brentwood. They fed us both lunch and breakfast but I took food so I did okay!

I definitely leave a radio on and lights for the cat(s) when we are away. I have slept poorly since Sunday night. But we will get this all figured out.

I wondered if you had trouble getting in this morning with that horrendous wreck (not sure where it was), see you made it in.

Maybe see if your sitter could stop by an extra time to check on him. I used to watch our neighbors cat, most of the time I couldn't see him but always walked through the house talking to him. I brought a radio over and had that playing the entire time. Funny thing was, I knew he was upstairs, I sat on the stairs talking to him, next thing I knew he was sitting at the top of the stairs looking at me like...isn't it time for to be doing something else, like leave? Just a thought. I can not imagine what you are going through, just another suggestion. Hugs.

Yes, nice days!

Warm out today but these mornings are nice and cool. My husband thinks we should just leave Earl at home and have the cat sitter come as usual. I need to figure out how long we will stay and get the plans in order.

I'm sorry Gloria, completely forgot about Earl. That is a tough call, other than you making the trip alone to your parents and trust me I have been in your shoes so I wish I had something better than a hug to help.

I just got in and have some things to take care of so will check in later.

Went to vote yesterday (in Gallatin) and the parking lot was full and the line was long. I guess it took about 30 minutes.

Was listening to local news on the way in this morning and heard a story about the I-65 corridor and how they need to do something about it....ya think? Geez. This week traffic has been a little better for me but I'm leaving a little earlier too. Mayor of Hendersonville was interviewed and he said H'ville is the 10th largest city in Tennessee and 35,000 people from there commute to Nashville. That seems high but maybe....I also heard that over 70,000 cars travel on Vietnam Veterans daily. I wish we could telecommute once or twice a week, that would make my life so much easier.

Okay, we usually board the diabetic kitty (Lemur), no big deal, he is cool with that. They like him and let him run around the office (it's at the vet). It's the other kitty, Earl, that I am worried about. He is 17 and has never been boarded. We have a cat sitter who comes and checks in on them but he always disappears when anyone besides my husband and I are in the house so she never sees him. He has never stayed home alone before (without other cats). Now that Kitty is gone, it will just be him alone and I am worried about that. I'm afraid if we board him he will have a heart attack since he has never been boarded and the vet is so traumatizing to him anyway. But leaving him alone without Lemur worries me. He has kidney issues and I am not sure how long he will be around and I don't want to make things worse for him. He is my little darling, you know?

Gloria, I'm sorry that you have so much going on. I hope you are able to visit with your family soon. I agree with Kelly. You should board your diabetic kitty. That's the only way I can go anywhere overnight.

Nothing major over here! Have a good one!

Gwenn

Kindle and sparks are not getting along, twice I tried to post all it did was spin and think then left the building. Let's see what happens this time.

Dear Gloria, sad to hear all you and the family are going through. Does your Vet board, maybe talk with them they should be comfortable with having him there. It will cost more but you need to go see your folks. I know you wouldn't like going alone and hubby take care of kitty but it is an option. Meanwhile, hugs and prayers and take care of yourself. Easier said than done but I'm giving you permission.

Absolutely beautiful yesterday even with the cold temps and blustery winds, today not so sunny and heading home tomorrow so will check in then.

Glenn hope you had a great weekend.

Wasn't as cold this morning! And traffic wasn't a nightmare. I was actually at the YMCA this morning and I tried to leave about five minutes earlier in the hopes of avoiding any trouble. It seemed to help!

Chilly this morning for sure but nice this afternoon. I'm organized and ready for the week, chicken In the crockpot for dinner. I need to cut back on sugar but I am so loathe to give up my chai lattes. Had a nice run (and chai) with a friend I hadn't seen in a few weeks so that was nice. Signed up for the Oak Barrel half marathon which isn't until April. It sold out within a couple of hours, glad I got in.

A few years ago on a weekend West End was shut down at my office....because of a mulch fire. But I think someone might have dropped a cigarette in it.

It's fall here too! 91 on Wednesday and when I did my run this morning it was 41! It's around 63 now. What a difference!

Suddenly realized I have a lot of stress right now. Wasn't really thinking about it that way but when I couldn't sleep last night it hit me. My husband's best friend is in the hospital in critical condition, my FIL has been in the hospital, both my parents are unwell, especially my dad. My stepson got himself into some bad trouble a few months ago and we've been dealing with that. And it looks very bad for him at this point. My Kitty is old and I think our time with him is limited. We need to go see my parents but dealing with insulin kitty and old kitty makes being away difficult.
