I have android app that tracks ferlility and friend loaned me her clearblue easy monitor (I just had to buy strips). Just taking my time though. Downloaded app with friend too that is pretty cool. It will happen when it happens, I figure, even though I have this stuff I haven't even used monitor yet. My job is so stressful but I am going to NYC next month. I am hoping to really start using tools in Feb/Mar/Apr so I want be 9 months along in summer. A A 2/14/14 baby would be perfect lol. After Christmas and not huge in summer. Oh and Feb-Apr slow at work.

I have been loving fertility friend. I had my cover line way off from what they did. The way it did my cover line showed that my temps made sense for when I got my OPK and showed that I did likely have a dip pre-ovulation (yay for another clue) and have so far in the progesterone temp spike afterwards.

What I do is use Fertility Friend to record my temps. It will determine based on the temps when it thinks I ovulated. After a few months, I was able to tell when the site would tell me I ovulated. I found this very useful. I also was then able to print off the last 12 cycles to take to my OB-GYN when I had an appointment to talk about not being pregnant after 20 cycles. He found it very helpful to see it on paper.

Again, what you're going for is an AVERAGE, so regardless of tossing/turning, hot flashes, times you get up to use the bathroom or just if it's hot or cold in your bedroom--it's just an average. For an average, you're going to just need to keep taking/recording your temp for several weeks. Sorry this probably does not help. Try not to stress because stress will inhibit your ability to make a baby:(

Well, apparently the thermometer always reads 97.70 when you turn it on (because I know for sure that the last temp I got wasn't that). So this means I've gone from 96.83 to 97.51 to 97.02. Is that normal? Does tossing and turning affect it? I find myself dreaming (multiple times) that I've taken my temperature, and waking, and straining to look at the clock over my husband to make sure it's at the same time (ish) . . . something tells me taking my temp is the opposite of keeping stress-free! I may hold off a few months until I see if we get pregnant or not.

Either way, that's why you do it every day at the same time--to at least get an average. I think, right now, I'm averaging right around 98. Makes me wonder how hot I run during the day sheesh!

Actually, when I turned the BBT on this morning, it read 97.70, so maybe I had a misreading after getting up and taking it into the bathroom yesterday morning. Today was 97.51.

Way to go, FREGGIEQUEEN!

Man, your BBT is way below mine:)

Funny enough, I bought a regular digital therm. the week before I took my HPT (in case I wasn't pregnant) to start tracking my temps and holy hell--the 1 day I was like 98.5. Actually I think that was 2 days before I took my HPT. No wonder I'm sometimes sweating in bed at night sheesh!

Yeah, I've been taking mine...it's amazing how much being awake one hour past your "daily time" can affect it. I have been aiming for 615am, but once I woke up around 615 but didn't take it until almost 730 and it was raised almost a whole degree.

I would recommend starting using it anyway. Until you start, you won't get used to it. You will know when you get a bad temp. I was going along at 98.2 for 5 days in a row and then got up 2 hours early for product testing at work--groggy, snoozed before I took my temp--and got 98.6. Today, back to normal schedule, I got 98.2 again. I think it's best to just start so you wake up and think 'oh, I need to take my temp.'

emoticon FREGGIEQUEEN - BBT is NOT supposed to be stressful. Remember the overall goal is to chart your temp so that you can find out when you're ovulating/most fertile - by charting and recognizing the 1/2 degree bump that occurs at ovulation. If you are consistently "restless" in the morning AND charting your temp before you get up for the bathroom, then you'll probably still see the 1/2 degree bump. Remember it's not about a right or wrong reading or a good or bad reading, it's about getting a consistent reading. Hope that helps! Just start charting and see what happens! emoticon

So, I haven't started using my BBT yet. It sits on my nightstand all cute and purple and . . . I'm always so restless in the morning (usually up a few hours before I'm supposed to awake to use the bathroom, then off and on until the alarm) that I don't want to use it and get a bad reading! It just keeps stressing me out!! What do I do?

MOONMANSON -
Are you talking about the fertility monitors where you "pee on the stick" like a pregnancy test? If so, I've only read to use your "morning urine". See the link from The Bump as an example:

I've just googled my little heart out....and I am so confused. What time of day do you all use the ovulation tests? The CBE site said morning was fine, other sources said afternoon.....ack!!

I just got back from my doctor (and a day of shopping with my Mom! emoticon )
For my b-day, my Mom got a new 3 in 1 digital thermometer (see link below). It not specifically a BBT, but my doctor said it was fine for tracking my temps.

I didn't need a new thermometer, but wanted one with memory so that I can go back to sleep and record temp when I really get up!

Honestly, I didn't own a thermometer at all, and the BBT one I bought was $6 on Amazon. I like all the bells and whistles it came with. I think it was specifically designed for what I want to do with it and it makes my life easier. I love that I can take my temp and just set it on the nightstand and go back to sleep. $6 well spent.

I think that the BBT thermometer is just a gimmick - as long your digital thermometer reads out the nearest tenth or hundredth, you're fine. I just got one(regular digital) for my birthday and took a pic to show my doc today. Want to make sure it's okay before I break it out!

I've been charting the last 4 days, and I"m excited to see what happens...I've been on BC for so long I think my body is going to freak out a bit LOL. I've just been using a regular thermometer, but considering getting a BBT one.

Are there pros to getting a BBT specific thermometer?

I got mine about 10 days ago and have been using it as practice. I'm still on the pill for another 2 months, but I figure I should get in the habit so that when it does matter, I'll be in the groove and won't miss a day. My BBT has some cool features, like it holds the temp for 45 min before it turns off, and it remembers it for a few seconds after it turns back on. I like this because I can take my temp, and then set it on the nightstand while I snooze, I don't have to write it down right away. It's backlit when I turn it on, and it beeps softly every 4 seconds to tell me that it's in a good spot and three times when it's done. In the time I've been taking it, I've seen 98.2 up to 98.6.

I also bought an ovulation test kit for my first month TTC. I figure I'd like at least one month where I can use both methods and compare them.

I just bought a Ovulation Prediction Kit. The Target brand stripes really weren't that expensive and should last me the next couple of months. I've also read you get get them even cheaper online. It feels good to be more proactive this cycle! I have thought about charting, but wanted to try the OPK first.

Let's hope we all have exciting news this time next month!!!

I love tracking my temperature. I'm coming to the end of my first whole cycle tracking it and I would say it's time/money well invested. It gives me the feeling that I can actually due something productive instead of just sitting around waiting for AF to show up or counting down the days until I can take an HPT.
Try fertilityfriend.com It has good tracking tools and will help you discover when you ovulate.

I take my temp at the same time everyday. I have to get up an hour before I "really" get up to take some medication, so I take my temp at that time as soon as I get up that time. Like I said before, I use my regular thermometor though,. I feel like I get the same results as if I had bought a BBT, it's just not to the hundreth degree.
Temps went down this morning so AF is on her way anytime now.

Here's a link to some guidelines on tracking your basal body temp. FREGGIEQUEEN - they do suggest to get at least 3 hours sleep before taking the temp. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue with going to the bathroom about an hour before I get up. Guess I'll have to take my temp then, go to the bathroom, and then go back to bed for an hour. From what I've read the most important key is to stay in bed and take your temp at the same time every day. As the article suggests- set an alarm if necessary!

Well, my AF is just about done, so I'm going to start using it tomorrow, I think. Is it true that you should take it in the morning after being asleep for at least three hours straight? I always end up getting up and going to the bathroom an hour or so before I wake up for real. Such a perfectionist . . .
