Lyssa - I think they recommend you be AT LEAST one year gf to let your gut heal before trying oats. Maybe you're not "healed" as much as you could be; esp with accidental ingestion?

Be curious!

Walksfar -- thanks for the lead on the survey!

I hope the new labeling helps more!

I just tried them about 2 weeks ago and they were GF oats. I waited until I asked my doctor and she said to try just a bit - so I started off with 1/8 of a cup - and I had a bit of a stomach ache but I wasn't sure if it was from that. So then a few days later I tried it again - same problem. So I switched the milk I was using to Lactose Free because I had been having issues with that too - I tried them again but this time at 1/4c and I was *SO* sick. So no oats for me - which really sucks - because I LOVE OATS!

Thanks Walksfar. I always like to give my two cents when asked!

Mahlyssa - at what point in your recovery did you try the oats? Just wondering as I'm over the year mark recommended by that MT company who sells those gf oats. I'm not a sensitive celiac though, so I hope all goes well when I try.

Be curious!

I'm sorry but one of those questions bothered me!

I am one of the people who tried to eat oats that were not made or grown near wheat and I got sick!

If oats met the guidelines and were ingredients in Gluten-Free foods that would scare me because I don't check the ingredients in Gluten-Free labeled food! That would just make it HARDER for me to buy things!

Maybe because I already completed the survey. Try going to "Latest News" at www.americanceliac.org

Hope that works.

The FDA's proposal for labeling products 'gluten-free' was published on 1/23/07. The FDA is seeking input from consumers on several issues surrounding this proposed Rule.
