Poor you! What a week you've had. I bet you're glad it's over. Good thing stuff only happens in 3's. Can you imagine if we all had to endure 5's???? Yuck.

Keep healthy!

Last week was BAD. If I was going to decide to cheat, it would have been a bite of an Everything Bagel from Panera....but nooooooo (I really don't want to cheat)
emoticon

First, friend's house and the M&M's, normally I double-check everything about 10 times, this time I did not unfortunately. Most likely was x-contamination with the corn tortilla chips and fresh vegies. I tried to keep my own plate of vegies and such because there was a lot of crackers around.

Then last week I went to the dentist for a cleaning. I didn't check on the tooth polish. I felt so ill by the end of the day, my husband actually had to drive me home from work. I'm pretty sure that was the culprit, but I am going to call the office to make sure.

Then I brought GF beer to a friend's Super Bowl party. I somehow ended up with my husband's (thankfully empty) regular beer bottle. I thought it was mine since I only had a little left in it. I went to finish it off when I realized it wasn't mine. I only got my mouth wet, not enough to even spit it out, but the horror! I wanted to immediately go home just in case. I did NOT want to go through it again. Fortunately, I have not gotten sick.

I guess bad things only come in 3s, so I should be good for a while!

Maybe it was just the different chocolate you had a reaction to. Did you check the ingredients on the package to see if there was any flour in them? If there was no package to read ingredients on, don't be tempted to eat. What you don't know can hurt you. I hope you are feeling better.

Speaking of M&M's...

anyone know about the new dark M&M's?

I was eatting them at a friends a couple weekends ago and realized they were not regular M&M's. I haven't found anything about them on the internet.

I felt a little bleh afterwards, so I'm thinking it was something I ate there, which wasn't very much. Cross-contamination is very possible as well.

Hi everyone. I haven't been on in a while so I thought I'd check the postings. Tweety4_9, you mentioned M&M's as gluten free. They are except the rice, or crispy ones they have out now. They contain gluten! Also, smarties and red licorice contain gluten. I love my chocolate, but there are some we just can't have. Watch the labels and as GFNOMAD mentions, if unsure, do a google search.

I didn't have a reaction - but I never had many GI issues to begin with, so I'm not sure I would know! Thanks for the update again!

Dont'; sweat it. After posting, I happened on a Hershey's site that listed some of their mini's as gluten free. I guess we need to check each time.

Glad you reminded me of the minis Nomad, I've read that, but forgot. I haven't had chocolate in ages, and only just last night has some mini Snickers left over from Halloween! sheesh.

Minatures often have the lines floured for ease of removal but regular size bars of chocolate and pure chocolate like Hershey's Special Dark should be gluten free. Obvioulsy the cookie/wafer/crips ones are not gf.
When in doubt, go a google search - name of product and the words gluten free. You can find a lot of information that way.

You will be happy to know that there are a lot of chocolates that are GF. I had the same question a year ago until I started doing research with the candy companys. You can have Snickers, York PP, Resee's Peanut Butter Cup, M&M's, etc. If you can't locate the information online I will be happy to help you just let me know emoticon

I have been eating Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate, one or two squares when I crave chocolate. Then, I noticed in the health food store that they sell chocolate that is supposed to be gluten free. Can anyone exlplain which chocolate is ok for GF?
