Im thinking about asking my doctor if I can try going off the thyroid med to see if gluten-free helps the condition. I was dx low, then after fisrt month on med was dx high, and he lowered my med. When I very first starting taking thyroid med, I thought I felt a difference in energy, but it didn't last.

My sister took about a year to get the right prescription. It was a very frustrating process. She went back and forth from too little to too much. They even had her off meds for a while to see if thyroid just needed a jump-start, but after that she was low again.

Interesting, I will have to ask my sister, she also has hypo-thyroid and has been reading up a lot on it.

That's what I've heard, but I don't know anyone, personally, who has tried it. I have all the coconut flours and oils, but am not much of a cook. I'll be getting to it someday.

I have been on thyroid replacement for about 8 months. Are you saying that coconut might be something that helps a thyroid condition?

Some of us in the thyroid forum have been talking about diet and I brought up coconut. I get a newsletter from Dr. Mercola, and saw he really is a proponent of it. He also has a "No-Grain Diet" book and talks some about gluten, so I wanted to share that info.
