You can buy just psyllium (or are they called psyllium husks?) in the Natural Section of the grocery store (or at least in Canada you can!) Before finding out I was celiac they thought I had diabetes and I saw a nutritionist and I was told then to add psyllium to everything I can because it slows down the carb absorption and keeps you full for longer.

Be careful, because psyllium itself is GF but many psyllium supplements are not. For instance, GNC's psyllium supplement has oat fiber in it - And oats are almost ALWAYS significantly cross-contaminated with gluten from the wheat they are grown and processed with.

I asked my pharmacist and he looked it up for me Psyllium is definately GF and the best part is you can add it to pretty much anything without noticing it's there and it's a great fiber (because fiber is sometimes HARD to get)

Thanks, I was lazy and should have googled it myself! Yay! Another source of fiber!

I've never seen the gopher icon used before - very appropriate for this fiberous topic? (is that humor a bit too obtuse? It's late!)

Kudos. Night.

Gluten-Free: psyllium husks do not contain any gluten so people who are gluten sensitive can use them.

I've read about this here and there and never looked it up - does anyone know about this potential fiber source and if it's gf?
