You have to be careful of some of the prepared burgers. It's not unusual to have bread crumbs in them.

You are right I am sure, I am just happy to have gotten to the point I am able to not be wiped out for a week from a single incident! I am not minimizing the impact, I am just saying somehow my body has found a way to cope without shutting me down completely! I know I have been good at keeping my exposure risk minimal for the most part, and I bet if I was getting small amounts a lot I would not be feeling so well right now! I do seem to react to the cumulative amounts of things more, even with dairy. I can have some if I don't go too far, but them it seems to just get to a point my body says "That's IT!! You're done!! If you can't be reasonable, misery it is for you!!" emoticon

Sorry 'bout my cryptic msg. You aren't in my brain are you? LOL Here's a youtube clip of the part of the Woody Allen movie Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask I was thinking about ... the first minute of this is the stomach part. You wouldn't want to watch the rest if you're prudent: bit.ly/pI05vi .

My point is you're poor gut is still damaged despite not having untoward symptoms. It's better to have had one "hit" vs many on a continual basis; that you'll heal faster.

emoticon . Wonder how long it'll take to heal (wish we could get gut reports from a "Gut Crew" like in a Woody Allen movie - lol)? (I don't think the outward manifestation makes a difference. I think it has more to do with the amount and how often; the how often being the worse offender.)

Dorothy I do ask usually, but I didn't think to for a hamburger. Lesson learned!

I was supersensitive for a while, and even reacted to things like wheatgrass in a vitamin. I am so happy that it doesn't appear I will be out of work for a week anymore if I make a mistake!

I have been glutened last week and this week and I have NO idea how?! My first signs are always exhaustion and then sores inside my mouth. Just when the sores were clearing up and I was feeling better, I woke up yesterday with new sores! I have gone over and over my food and for the life of me, I cannot figure it out. It has to be some kind of cross contamination.

So glad you did not get the bad effects :) I cannot wait until I get to your point of healing!!!!

Wow, that was lucky. I got food made on the same chopping block that had wheat on it and I was down for the count.

Cindy, you are lucky! For me, it's the opposite. I could tolerate a bit at the beginning, but now it takes very little. I am not celiac, but intolerant.
Interestingly, my mut allergies have gotten worse, and I react very badly to fake things in food such as caramel coloring and artificial flavors.
I tried the Gluten FREEz brand of enzymes, and they work better for me than the others I've tried.

Glad that it did not make you real sick. Now you have to start asking your friends if they put any wheat into the food that they prepared.

A miracle? I think so! I ate a cheeseburger at work last Saturday and felt a little odd at first, but attributed it to the cheese. I was somewhat sleepy over my weekend, but no pain or GI isuues really other than normal ups and downs for me. Today my coworker that made them told me she forgot to tell me there were breadcrumbs in the burgers!! I used to react to a crumb for a week, let alone a decent portion of gluten like this! I am amazed that my body has healed so much over this last year and a half!
