I agree with Dorothy and Cindy. We often decide that a food is no good for us. I think it takes a long time for all the damage from gluten to get out of our systems. Especially in the early months, I struggled, and wondered if I needed to go gluten/corn/dairy/nut/seed free. I now know that I can use organic milk and corn, and am safe with almonds and the occasional pecans and walnuts. I also know that my reactions to food are much worse when environmental or pollen allergies are high. Whenever I'm in a heavily cottonwood or juniper area during their pollen season, everything else makes me miserable. I should just eat fruit and veg, except that I do much better on a higher protein diet. So, don't assume the bars are really a problem. The digestive enzymes are a true lifesaver for me. Also, get a good multistrain probiotic to help your system out. Get one which needs to be kept in the fridge. They are the best. Hope you feel better. Kate

Larabars also have a lot of fructose (in the fruit), that may be the problem [fructose malabsorption-- FM], esp if you also have problems with foods such as brown rice, honey, maple syrup, and some fruits or vegetables (onion, carrot, iceberg lettuce, garlic, apples being the ones i can remember off the top of my head). also if you have problems with fructose/ HFSC in it (but if you are eating a raw diet, I'm betting you're not eating fructose!). wheat is also high in fructose. for me, my FM symptoms are different than my glutening symptoms [my FM sypmtoms are more noticable/ worse/ faster reacting, my gluten symptoms are more autoimmune- ish], but from what I understand, some people have similar symptoms with glutenings as they do eating too much fructose. I myself can't have Larabars too often due to my FM, but they're just so yummy... and being on such a limited diet really sucks sometimes... I hafta have one once in a while... so, yeah, I understand the thought of not wanting to give them up!

You might need to take a digestive enzyme to help you with the food. Most of the foods now days are so over cooked that we don't get those to help with breaking down our food, So head to a health food store and get some digestive enzymes that covers all the different types of food. Carbs, fats and proteins.

I agree it is not the gluten. Every reaction people have is not necessarily gluten related. Took me a while to figure that out! Look over the ingredients and beware of reactions to other things with those things in it. Since Larabars are so pure it should not be difficult!

Lara bars are gluten free. They are not cooked and are certified for use on raw food diets though. The list of ingredients for allergies is available on their web site under the special diet section. Everyone reacts differently to different foods but your reaction is definitely not caused by gluten. You should check out there site and see what else could be causing your problem. Oh man! Don't tell me there's yet another food I can't eat. I had the peanut butter cookie and the peanut butter chocolate chip. I eat peanuts just fine. I'll have to comb through the ingredients to see if anything sticks out.
I have reacted to them, but only the ones with almonds. Then I finally determined that I can't have almonds! They only make things with fruits, nuts, and sometimes chocolate. So I don't know what else it could be!
