I will call the restaurant to see what they put on it, and if that was not it, then I am not sure what it was. I did have the loaded mashed potatoes and will ask about that and the seasoning they put on the meat. Thanks for your comments. Really do appreciate it.

Is it possible that there was butter or cornstarch in something you ate?

KMart thanks for your input. That has crossed my mind too. I am seeing a nutritionist the 23rd of July. She was able to see me sooner; however I will be out of town from the 10th of July until the 18th.

When I talked to the nutritionist, she suggested that I make a diary everyday of what I eat. I have been doing that. Last night, we went out to dinner with another couple and all of a suddenly my tummy really got bloated and I was thinking back of what I ate for dinner. I did not have any corn nor milk. The vegetable that I ate was fresh broccoli and wonder if that was it. It was so uncomfortable that I had to put on some loose clothing.

Thanks again,.

Have you tried cutting out milk products or corn? There may be other foods that are bothering your GI system. Any milk product causes me to bloat something awful.

I have a younger sister that has Celiac Disease and was diagnosed over 20 yrs ago. I was diagnosed almost three (3) years ago; however was gf then and it showed negative. I agree with all of you that I am not going to eat gluten so they can say that I have Celiac. It is not worth the pain and misery. I know that I do feel somewhat better. I know that my tummy is still bloated and get depressed. My sister wants me to see a nutritionist as I may still be ingesting gluten in some of the foods that I am eating.

Bailey I meant that it would be many weeks...like 4-6 according to my GI. I said several. But this is why I refused testing myself beyond an initial blood test before I had gone off gluten. It is horrible especially when you have been off for any length of time!

You know what you need to do and the tax thing is miniscule anyway...

Cindy, the problem is you say 2 weeks and I have been told by others 4 weeks. One week was hard enough for me and that was when I was gone from gluten for a month. I have been gone coming up on 3 YEARS now... I shudder to think how painful it would be.

As you said, end result is the same, you can't eat it. Not going to torture myself. Besides, I don't spend enough on the GF foods for the tax thing to matter.

It's very possible that they have it even if not showing any symptoms.
1st degree relatives(parents, siblings, children) have a 1 in 22 chance of having CD and 2nd degree (grandparents, grandchildren, cousins, aunt/uncles) have a 1 in 39 chance versus in general population its 1 in 133.

I have celiac along with my daughter, father and 1st cousin but neither of my brothers have it. They were both tested and know to test their children which is good though. It is genetic but not everyone has the same issues. Barb

Bailey my GI said SEVERAL weeks would be necessary...you may be a false negative. But you know what you need to anyway...you can't eat it!

It is genetic, but not everyone in a family may have it. Also there are a lot of false negative blood tests for a few reasons. There may not have been enough gluten eaten to cause a reaction, the tests are fallible because they do not detect people with only partial damage to the intestines and do not detect those that hav no intestinal damage but other symptoms. There are a lot of gluten related symptoms but the blood tests are only totally accurate for people with textbook Celiac disease (total atrophy of the intestinal villi).

Yes they can. If they are experiencing any symptoms, have them get checked before they go off wheat.

I had issues 3 yrs ago and went off wheat for a month, then back on for a week to be tested. test came back negative, but I felt awful and refuse to go back on wheat for another test!

I was 42 when this happened. I have a younger sister and 4 older brothers. They have not had issues as of yet. Parents do not have issues.

If a person is diagnosed with celiac disease, is it probable that their siblings will also have celiac disease?
